Animated gif in IWeb?

I am trying to add an animated GIF to my site. I downloaded a program called "pixen", and it seems easy enough to use. However, it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm just looking to be able to add some scrolling text.
Thanks!
Kim

The program "pixen", gives you the option to export as a QT movie, or export to "image sequence". When I export to "image sequence", it just saves the three different frames as .gif files. When I export to a QT movie, and then add that to my site, publish to a folder - it plays as a QT movie.
This may be a problem with the particular program, and not IWeb..
Just wondering if there is a program that you would recommend?
Thanks, as always, for your help!
Kim

Do animated GIFs work in iWeb?
If so, how do you get them in there without iWeb turning them to PNGs?

    Bonjour,
    Yes, they work.
Drag and drop an animated gif to iWeb.
    publish
In this [page|http://iweb.debutersurmac.com/siteiweb/Blog/Entrees/2009/3/4iWeb_09_et_lesimages.html] i have an gif (panda)
Now you have a .mov file. But it isn't an movie : it isn't a file that quicktime can read...
In source code, HTML tags are those used for an image.
    img src="../../../../Media/roulade-1.mov" alt="" style="height: 94px; position: relative; width: 99px; " class="inline-block"
And if you drag and drop if from your browser to desktop, you'll have an .gif file (roulade-1.mov.gif).

  • Animated GIFS lose transparency in iWeb 08

    Hi All
I am using iWeb 08 (2.0.4) and Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. When I try to place a transparent animated GIF in iWeb, it looses the tranparent background and shows up with a horrible white background. Does anyone have the solution to this problem?

    Hi AllAboutiWeb,
Only in iWeb 08. I haven't tried to publish the site yet. Also, I will not be hosting the site at mac.com or me.com. Instead, I will publish to disk and upload the site to my hosting service.
I created the animated gif in Adobe ImageReady 7.0 and it works well (transparency included) in Safari and Firefox when I drag the animated gif to a browser window.

  • Animated gif

I put an animated gif in iWeb and it runs fine in the site in Windows IE 7 and Firefox 3.5, and on my Mac in Firefox, But you can just see the initial frame in Safari.
Actually I put two on there, the little flag works (has a transparent layer over it), but the big one, with 13 images, does not.
Is there a trick for iweb? or is there something in Safari that I need to set?

I've been having the same issue. gifs from the web load fine in firefox, but i safari they take forever.
Also I've noticed that a lot of streaming videos that used to stream just fine are now choppy and start and stop due to slow load times.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Attaching hyperlink to animated gifs

Has anyone been successful with attaching a hyperlink to an animated gif? I'm new to all this and I'm not even sure if this is possible (but it seems reasonable to me). I can drag and drop the animated gif into iWeb, but then the option to make it a hyperlink is not available.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried converting a standard animated gif into a .swf file via GraphicConverter and inserting the .swf into iWeb. But that doesn't work. Also, iWeb adds the QT controller to the bottom of the image, which I don't want to see. Does anybody know how to turn that off too?
    Thanks.

  • Iweb animated GIF problem

I have created a website in iweb and the homepage has an animated gif on it that plays well on MAC. How can I get an animated gif to play on PC. It keep converting the file to a .mov file when I look at the files that are uploaded to the server and PC doesn't seem to recognise it as a broken link cross is showing on all PC's

Upload the GIF to a folder in the root folder on your server. Use this code in an HTML Snippet...
    <img src="http://www.domain.com/Folder/File-Name.gif" width="400">
Adjust the "width" to suit the image.

  • How to add Animated GIF to an iWeb '11 page?

Trying to take our existing website (not created in iWeb) and recreate in iWeb.  Have an animated GIF on our home page.  When I try to drag the GIF to the iWeb page, it's no longer animated.  And when I publish, again it's no longer animated.  I need help.
    Doug

It should play.  Publish you site to a folder on the hard drive and open it locally to see if it plays there.
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Make sure there's no object under the gif file.  I found trying to put an image behind it would kill the gif and require me to remove the give and add it again to the page.  They seem to be a little picky.

  • Animated GIF won't animate or not even show at all

I have been using animated GIF with no problem so far but now with iWeb 08 sometimes it works with certain GIFs documents or sometimes won't with other GIFs documents. Why ? And what can I do about this ? What is the solution ?

Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply.  Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself.  I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative.  This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved.  I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.}  No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine.

  • Animated Gif's in Mac Mail

There have been a couple of threads on this now closed without a solution. I discovered how a somewhat tedious way to get an animated gif into a mac mail msg while seeing the animation in action.
I used iWeb to create a blank white pate. I then inserted the animated gif. I posted the page to my website. I placed a bookmark in Safari for this website. Now, when i want to send an email with this animated gif as a signature, I navigate to my website page in Safari, type ⌘I, and this brings up a blank email in MacMail with gif animating. Then just complete your message.

    JT,
Thanks for the post. I don't pretend to be a guru. It appears from the other posts that Apple chose to prevent animated gifs from animating in Mac Mail to enhance security. I don't know much about making the gifs. Here's the animated gif on the web page. It's of a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

  • How to turn an animated .gif into a hyperlink

    Hey everyone,
Im new to the forums and dreamweaver. I created an animated .gif file in photoshop that i want to use as an advertisement banner on a website. Now that the banner is created (on photoshop), I would like to turn the whole image into a link so that when someone clicks on it, it will redirect them to another website. How do I do this in dreamweaver??
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    is JQ iweb compatible?
jQuery is a very popular JavaScript library with which you can bring interactivity into web pages.  I know almost nothing about iWeb except that it is consumer level software for non-coders.  That said, if you can access the source code (HTML and CSS), you should be able to use jQuery plug-ins in your web pages.
jQuery Cycle Plug-in (click on examples, view source in browser to see the code).

  • How to get animated gifs or jpgs to work

    thanks for reading!
how do you get animated gifs or jpgs to work in iweb? i have a few that i made and worked when i had the old site up. but under iweb they wont, if you go to
my site use my username as the domain. www.myusername.com you will see a open 24hr sign that s animated but wont work in iweb, also thier is a little gif of a radio at the buttom the dials move and the numbers change, under i web they dont work why?
    thank for reading this

Not sure exactly what is happening over there on your end. Animated GIFs can be drag and dropped into iWeb, no problem. Inside iWeb when you drop them onto your page, YOU WILL NOT SEE THEM ANIMATE. You may even see them show up with a QT controller bar underneath them. But don't worry....once you publish your page, the GIF will be animated and the controller bar will disappear. Just try it!

  • No external Linking for a animated gif

    Hi there,
i want to paste an animated gif into my iWeb webpage with an enternal link - but there is no option to do this!
I already tried to lay over a rectangle, because here it is possible to link to an external page.
The prob here is, that after publishing the page, no linking is available.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thx,
    M.

    M:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. How did you configure the rectangle. I believe the object must have a color and some opacity. Set the color to the default white and the opacity to 1%. Then publish again and give it a try. Be sure it's in front of the gif and not behind.
I found it advantageous to publish to a folder on my desktop while I'm testing my site as it's so much quicker to publish, check, edit and republish. Then when I've got it right I publish to .Mac.
