Animated gif in signature
Hey Guys
Is there any way of including a small animated gif in my signature?
I tried just copying and pasting but then only the first frame displays.
Thanks in advance
I'm having this issue as well — I can no longer send animated gifs in Mail with Mavericks (10.9.0). The image retains its full image size and remains a gif format, but does not play, just sits static. This also affects forwarding animated gifs — which play fine in the mail window — they are static in the compose window and are sent static.

Attach animated gif to signature
Is there a way to attach an animated gif to the signature on my verizon email
Yes there is a way. You have to go to the animated gif you want to use, right click, select copy. Then you have to go into your email account on verizon.net. Go into email settings, then to signature. In the blank box to type your signature, right click, then paste. If you need any additional assistance, please send me a private message.

How do I add an animated GIF to my signature
I am trying to add an animated GIF to my out going email. For my signature. How can do this?
Don't worry! Don't worry everyone I worked it out. Actually I just read the Mail support page segment on adding a signature. You just add a signature as usual but when you add the text, you can drag and adrop a pic/logo into that box. Ah, duh!

Animated gif in mail are not visible after upgrade to mavericks
Hi,
I use a animated gif in my signature in mail. This gif was playing normally (like a animated gif) in mountain lion when I writes a new message. After upgrading to mavericks I can't see the animated gif playing. I just see the first frame. However when I send a mail to my iPad using iOS 7 the animated gif is playing normally.

There have been a couple of threads on this now closed without a solution. I discovered how a somewhat tedious way to get an animated gif into a mac mail msg while seeing the animation in action.
I used iWeb to create a blank white pate. I then inserted the animated gif. I posted the page to my website. I placed a bookmark in Safari for this website. Now, when i want to send an email with this animated gif as a signature, I navigate to my website page in Safari, type ⌘I, and this brings up a blank email in MacMail with gif animating. Then just complete your message.JT,
Thanks for the post. I don't pretend to be a guru. It appears from the other posts that Apple chose to prevent animated gifs from animating in Mac Mail to enhance security. I don't know much about making the gifs. Here's the animated gif on the web page. It's of a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Help with animated gif please!
Can you embed an animated gif into emails as a signature? i
have tried it in entourage and outlook, but the gif seems to stick
on the first frame. The animation works fine if viewed in a browser
etc. I have also made the email html format.
any ideas?Open your browser and browse to and select the animated GIF
image. Do you
see the animation? If not, then you have not properly
exported your GIF as
an animated one. What graphics program are you using?

Convert/save/export Adobe Edge animation as an animated gif?
Does anyone know a way to convert/save/export an Adobe Edge animation file into an animated gif. I've created a simple logo animation and the client now wants it as a animated gif to add to there email signature. Is this possible or an I going to have to recreate it in another programme
Hi resdesign.
Thanks for your comment, this helped. Would be nice if there was a more direct way though, but this has done exactly what I need. Thanks again -
I want to attach animated gifs to my email messages. When I do, the images stay static and aren't animated.
My PC friends use Outlook Express to compose their email, and the animations work fine. I checked the information for Entourage and found that it doesn't support animated gifs. Does anyone know how to do this on the Mac, using Tiger 10.4.11?Mulder,
I went to the site you mentioned, downloaded an animated GIF, and sent myself a test email. When it didn't work, I went back to that site's help menu and have copied what it said below:
"How to use animated GIF Images
For use in web pages: see Image Usage & Linking Policy
For use in Microsoft Outlook: In Outlook 2003 and earlier, an animated image can be incorporated into the email text, only when using the HTML format. Position the cursor at the point where the image is to appear and select Insert/Picture.
When using the Word editor for composing email messages, the image will not animate. Outlook 2007 does not support animation in any format.
For use in Microsoft PowerPoint: You should not have any issues inserting and viewing animated images."
I checked your response carefully and found that the only difference is that you have a signature set up for your emails, and I do not.
I went to the Eudora site and they support animated GIFs if you sign up for their "paid" program. I couldn't find out the cost anywhere and suspect that it shows up after you've downloaded the program. I'm not familiar with the Balzac client but will check it out. I don't compose my emails using HTML. I simply use the Mail program and format my text using the font and color menus. Is that how you do yours? (I'm still looking for that "extra ingredient" that you have [besides your brain] that makes yours work.)
Thanks again. -
I've made an animated gif using flash an am trying to make it
so the gif appears in my signature at the bottom of every email. I
can place it in the signature but when I send the email the gif is
static and doesn't move. Also I'm using a mac and when I recieve an
animated gif in an email from a PC the gif is also static. I need
to be able to send animated gifs in emails from PC and Mac using
Mircosoft Outlook for PC and Entourage for MAC. Any help would be
much appreciated.
Cheers, this really has nothing to do with flash at all - you have no
control over this as the recipient of
your email may not be using an email client that supports
animated gifs - does your gif work when
viewed ina web page?
you must realize there are a myriad ways people check email -
sometimes via a browser, handheld
device, email client software, etc...not all support animated
gifs and the ones that do may have
that option turned off by user.
i would consult the support section of the email software
your recipients use.

Open and edit animated .gif while preserving frame timing
CS4 Premium Design Edition, Win XP
I was disappointed with the removal of Image Ready from CS3 because although some of the functionality was placed into Photoshop 10, there was no way to open and edit an existing animated .gif while preserving the timing of each individual frame. I was told on the PS forum at the time that I really needed to use Fireworks. I resented that, because I was very happy with Image Ready and I didn't want to have to learn a new application just to gain functionality that had been included in previous versions of PS/IM.
I've now got CS4 Premium Design Edition which of course includs Fireworks... and here's what Help has to say on the subject of imported .gifs.
"Note: When you import an animated GIF, the state delay setting defaults to 0.07 seconds. If necessary, use the States panel to restore the original timing."
This is no use to me. What if I don't know the individual frame timings? What if there are 200 frames with varying timings?
Simple question: which current Adobe product is capable of importing a .gif while retaining the frame timings? If anyone knows, or if I've misunderstood the nature of the Fireworks Help quote above, I'd really appreciate some input here. Thanks :)
Not so simple question: why was an excellent gif-editing application thrown out to have its functionality partially replaced by a bunch of scripts and half-effective workarounds cooked up by desperate users ("import a gif by using the video import and typing *.* into the filename box..")? It's a fair question I think.
MarkHi Bob, that's not glib at all, it's a reasonable question.
I uninstalled it along with everything else when I installed CS3, in the reasonable expectation that whatever replaced IR would be at least equal in functionality.
Perhaps I should just dig out CS2 and install IM from there, but I have some serious reservations about doing so, because I don't know if/how a partial install of CS2 will impact upon my installation of CS4, and I'm not confident of getting support.
I am also curious to know if/why Adobe actually removed basic functionality without replicating or replacing it in their other software. I really want to know: which recent, currently supported Adobe product
should I be using in order to regain this functionality? Or do Adobe no longer produce a geniuinely comprehensive .gif-editing application?

Animated GIF ignoring frame timing
I am trying to create simple animated GIFs with a few layers
of text that simply fade in and fade out in sequence. My initial
attempt worked perfectly. Most frames use the default 7/100's of a
second delay as they fade. A few frames were manually set to much
longer delays so that the text pauses, before fading out to be
replaced by the next text.
When I reopened the file, to adjust the background color, and
then re-saved it, the GIF now plays straight through, ignoring the
timing of each frame. Nothing I do now can get it to pause on the
appropriate frames. I've tried cutting the symbols out and pasting
them into a new file, removing the animation from the symbols and
reapplying it, etc.
Any ideas, anyone?
Thanks in advance.None, None.

Hi,
How can I edit an animated gif in Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac?
When I open the file there is just the first frame in one layer - no other layers available.
Thanks!Thanks Barbara!
Barbara B. wrote:
... then bring it to PSE.
I can't drag the single frames from Preview to PSE, because PSE 6 doesn't run in window mode.
(Is this improved in the current version?)
I can only drag the single frames to the desktop (as TIFF files, I guess transparency info is lost then?).
Barbara B. wrote:
... there's a bug beginning in PSE 6 where you can't change the frame delay rate from the default when you save an animated gif.
What's the default frame delay rate? Maybe it's just what I need.
Barbara B. wrote:
You might want to look into a free program like giffun from stone.com instead.
Yes that's maybe a better idea. It doesn't have to be free software. Can you recommend something good?

No, only regular static GIF images are supported. The desktop version of Photoshop does support this however.

Animated GIFs are ridiculously large - why?
Hi all,
I cannot figure out why the animated GIFs I am exporting are
so massive in file size. For example, I import a small 5-frame
650Byte GIF. I edit the size of the canvas to pad it to a square
(from 54x40 to 54x54, or something like that), then I save it with
the following settings:
Animated GIF
Exact Palette
0 Loss
4 Colours (5 including alpha channel)
No dither
And it comes out as 64.4KB. How can the file size increase by
100 times with barely any change? Even if I import it, change
nothing and save the file with the same settings as above, it's
still 64.4KB. Is Fireworks padding the file with unnecessary
information or something?
Thanks for any help,
John.> But the original image is an animated GIF and it's less
than 1KB big! So

I'm confused. What is this I am looking at. What have you
done to it to
make it increase in weight?

Hi all, I am trying to save animated gifs from PS, I can get it to work fine when the layers are just flat layers, but I need to create the animated gif when I have layer folders... Ie layer 1 will have a graphic and some text, layer 2 different graphic and different text. But I have to create lots of banners each with a slight change on the text. So I want to keep the text editable so its quick to just chnage the text and then save another animated gif. But when I try and create frames from layers its bringing all the bits from the layer as different frames ie the graphic is one frame then the text is one frame etc. Is it possible to create the animated gif while still having layer folders or does it just work if they are flat layers?
Hi thanks for the reply, i didnt think it was really working, but now I have had a play, it does work and its pretty easy to change the text, it does pop open another photoshop file to edit the text, but it works ok.
Thanks
