  • Animated Gif/movie not following build order

Animated Gif/movies do not build in proper order.
For example, I have an animated clock that is suppose to come in as Build No 29
and run. However, it loads as though it is Build item No 1.
It does run at the proper time in the build.
Must I hide it with color or other tricks. The problem is it shows immediately as the
    slide builds and looks hideous.

Never-mind. I have it working properly now.

  • Animated GIFs don't loop in exported movies from Keynote 3

I am just getting started with Keynote 3.0 and really like what I have seen. I created a series of slides and pasted animated GIFs in various places. They are set to loop on each slide as Keynote presents the slides. The slide show has preset transition and build timings and there is music playing continuously, throughout the show. It works quite well. (However, there is very intermittent choppy audio and video playback when there are builds or transitions occurring. Any thoughts on optimizing this?)
The problems begin when I ask Keynote to export the slideshow to a movie. The main problem that I am struggling with is that the animated GIFs don't loop in the rendered movie, regardless of which compressor I choose. I don't see anything in the documentation. I have also searched several of the discussions on making movies from Keynote 3 but have not specifically seen animated GIFs discussed. What am I missing here?
Also, I want to be able to play this movie on a DVD player at an upcoming function. Any recommendations for an approach that will be best? I have QT 7 Pro and the iLife '06 suite.
Thanks, in advance, for any forthcoming suggestions.

My guess is, it's too much of a pain to have to calculate how many times it will actually loop and create the loops and then composite everything. Running it in Keynote just tells the thing to keep playing over and over till you do something that stops it. There's a BIG difference there as one is just being told to play, the other is having to be placed in a movie with an exact number of frames, so there are a bunch of calculations involved.

  • Animated gif within Captivate movie?

I'm trying to insert an animated gif into a Captivate movie,
but when I do, the gif doesn't animate -- it just shows the first
frame. Is there a trick to getting these animated gifs to actually
play within the Captivate movie, without having to do a "rough
recreate" of the gif in Flash? I've looked around for a setting
within the app to address this, but couldn't find it, and according
to my search of the archives no one else has asked this question.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi all
In addition to fellow ACE Steve's good advice, note that you
may notice that the gif looks just dandy if viewed on a web page
before importing. Then after importing it may appear to have had a
triple shot of espresso. This is because the frame rate of
Captivate is normally 30 FPS. It's not uncommon at all to see .GIF
files with a frame rate of 10. The answer? Either slow Captivate
down or speed up the .GIF before bringing it into Captivate.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Converting mov files to animated gifs

Basic question: how-to convert MOV files to animated GIF files. I have been searching for free/opensource/shareware to do this but so far no program I found could do this.
I'd love someone to answer, definitively, about free/opensource/shareware, but my hopes are down.
So, I ask what MAC program (even if I have to buy it) will let me convert MOV files to animated GIFs or MOV frames to seperate images (is that at all possible?).
Secondly, does anyone have experience with software that does this?
    Thanks in advance.

Quicktime Pro 7 can take video (ie mov files) and export them as image sequences.
It can be purchased at the Apple store for $30.

  • Program for turning animated .gif and MP3 files to .mov

I need a program that takes an animated GIF and an MP3 of WAV file and turns them into a .mov file, but I don't have the money for FinalCut. Is there a cheaper (or free) program that can do this thing?

hello. try mpeg streamclip here -
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
not sure if it'll help, but most users here swear by it for various format conversions. and it's free.

  • I would like to convert an animated Gif to .mov, will Quicktime Pro 7 do this? Should I spend the money?

    Hi everyone.
I'm looking to put a few animations onto keynote and I'm making my presentation on PowerPoint.
I need to convert an animated gif into a .mov file and was wondering whether Quicktime Pro 7 does this?
    Thanks

I need to convert an animated gif into a .mov file and was wondering whether Quicktime Pro 7 does this?
Since it appears QTKirk has provided the best answer for your specific work flow issue as stated, I will answer your more general question...
Yes, QT 7 Pro can open an animated GIF file and save it as an MOV file. At this time the real question is whether or not the MOV file produced is suitable for your needs. Basically the MOV file can be then then be played—but it only plays one pass in the normal playback mode. You can, of course opt to loop the playback which, for a small files, plays much as the original GIF.
Unfortunately, the "Loop" setting is not saved when the MOV file is saved, so this option must be re-initialized each time the MOV file is opened. This would not be a problem if all you are doing is openening the file in the QT 7 player and letting it play in the looped mode all day as some sort of display but would likely be an unsatisfoactory solution for sending the MOV file to someone else. You could, of course, turn the MOV file into a QTL file with the loop option set to get around this problem.
While I would be hard pressed to say it would be a good investment just for the creation of GIF movie files, QT 7 Pro does offer a lot of other features that make it a bargain utility for many quick edit requirements if you use/need them.

  • .mov to .gif (animated gif)

    Hi Apple fans
I have the worst case never resolve to submit in the history of Apple. Have spent in total 2 and half hours on the phone with Apple customer service and nobody found an answer.
I am building up a website and I want to insert an animated background. I have spent 2 days trying to find a software that convert video (.mov QuicKTime 7) to animated GIF. So far nobody has found a way to do it.
I have a cross platform Windows XP Sp3 and Snowleopard 10.6.4 on the iMac 9.1 for start.
On the Snowleopard I have Final Cut Pro 6, iLife 09, Quick Time 7 (pro?) , Final Cut Express that can edit video. I bought Quick Time Pro especially because it has the capability to convert .mov to .gif. But it does not!!! it convert .gif to .mov only and there is the proof ( http://support.apple.com/kb/sp521 ) information given by Apple customer Support.
On Windows XP SP3, I have Adobe CS3, Video2Gif, AVS video Converter, Gif Optimizer...but as usual , products advertised do not do what they pretend to do on Windows platform, it's just a matter of making you downloading any s*t that can crashed you PC.
So now I am left in limbo between a cross platform operating system that can accept software for their respective OS but can do the job I want them to do.
I call upon any Genius that will be able to resolve my issue which is to convert movies in .mov to animated .gif to insert them as animated background for a webpage.
    Thank you very much.
PS: I'm sorry guys I'm out of box of chocolate but will be happy to send one to whoever resolve my concern.

First question would be why you want (or need) the ancient .gif file in the first place:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GraphicsInterchangeFormat
QuickTime Player Pro can import dozens of image file formats and import "Image Sequence" (up to about 65,000) to display as a .mov file.
Such a small palette of colors is available in the .gif file format and they look really ugly if colors are removed from your source files. The .png format allows more colors (and alpha channels for transparency) and are supported by all modern browsers.
You can export nearly any supported video format to "Image Sequence" via QuickTime Player Pro. Use a modern image editing app to convert (ugh) them to Graphics Interchange Format and then a dedicated GIF creation app to make your file. No doubt you will be disappointed by the results.

  • An Animated GIF displays, i.e. moves, for about 5 minutes, then freezes. Other GIFs from the site work indefinitely, and this GIF works indefinitely on IE. Why does it freeze in Firefox?

An Animated Avatar GIF file moves as expected for about 5 minutes, and then freezes. Other animated avatars from the same site work fine, and move indefinitely. To confirm that the site had not exchanged the file for a non-animated version, I right-clicked and selected 'View Image Info' and when I did so, it moved for about half a second. (The image file was the one uploaded.) Loaded the page in IE, this avatar moves indefinitely.
Any ideas why an animated GIF stops in Firefox?

The answer is that Animated GIF files include a Loop Enable Flag as well as a Loop Limit Count. This GIF had a count which should have allowed it to loop for almost 2 hours. But in Firefox it only loops for about 5 minutes.
It appears Firefox is misinterpreting this value to be a Frame Count rather than a Cycle Count.
Is there any Firefox Employees reading this, and can acknowledge this has been added to their Opportunity (a.k.a. Bug) List?

  • Mov to animated gif

hi, i'm really confused by this. i do not want to dish out 94€ for Camtasia for Mac, i'm really guessing there has got to be an automator/applescript/terminal/anything method of taking a screen-recorded .mov  and turning it into an animated gif. but how do i do it, please?

The first question is why do you want GIF? The colors in your screen recording will look terrible when reduced using GIF.
QuickTime X can create screen captures and it is a free part of Snow Leopard. The newer version in Lion and Mountain Lion can also capture an "area" of the screen as opposed to the entire display in the 10.0 version.
QuickTime Player Pro can convert your screen recording into individual images and you could import them into a GIF editor (if you can find one that works). Search for Gif Fun. My old copy from 2008 still works.

  • Animation - when-mouse-move/enter or inserting an animated gif into the form

expecting some animation on oracle forms, eg. say if i move my mouse into the command button, it could change color(fr black to red). any idea? thank u.

In client server you can use the when-mouse-enter trigger to do that.
On the web you can use PJC like the sample "Browse RolloverButton PJC" you have on the sample code section of forms on otn.
On the web you can also embed animated gifs onto buttons as labels.

  • CS4 Export Movie animated gifs

I tried using this feature in CS3 and no matter what setting I tried the animation looked horrible. I have been using CS4 so I can get used to it and I have to say that the new animation techniques really make a big difference. One of the features I thought I would try is the export movie to an animated gif. Without even looking at the settings I did the export and opened the .gif in Firefox and I as amazed to see that it looks so much better in CS4 than CS3 ever did. I guess this must have been a big complaint cause as a designer who does alot of banners I need to do back up animated.gifs in some instances and if you know Macs there is no app to do this so when I needed to I would copy the swfs to a thumb drive and do the conversion from swf to animated gif on my pc.
    rderf

I searched the CS5 user guide PDF, and find that animated gif is a support INPUT format, but find NO mention of that being an export format
The tutorial list in message #3 http://forums.adobe.com/message/2276578 has a link to download the current PDF for easy searching, since I don't know if CC adds that for export

  • How do i export a flash movie as an animated gif with transparent background?

each export has the background in it.
I have looked into the publish setting for gif but no option there, or in the background colour setting in the main design window has any Alpha or Transparency setting.

Thought that issue went away. The only workaround I found was exporting a PNG sequence with transparency, importing it all back into a better animated GIF exporter like Fireworks as an image sequence and exporting it from there again. It will give you the best quality, control over the timeline, looping and various per-frame AGIF functionality.
    But yes, it's a multi-step headache.

  • Help with exporting as an animated gif

I've created a small banner ad and need to export it as an animated gif.  The problem is, when I open the gif after exporting it, there's no animation.  The way the animation is set up is 1 frame on the main timeline, and a scrolling movie clip as the background.  There is no actionscript at all in the file.

instead of converting your movieclip to a graphic:
    1.  copy the movieclip frames
    2.  create a new graphic
    3.  paste the frames to the graphic timeline
    4.  drag the graphic to the main timeline and remove the movieclip
    5.  extend the main timeline enough frames to reveal the graphic animation
    6.  make sure your gif publish settings are for an animated gif

  • Problems/help with animated GIF exports

I am an experienced Photoshop user.  I recently upgraded to CS5 (Windows) and have been attempting to produce animated gif files.
After reading a few tutorials on the topic, I have been able to:
    Create a PSD with a few jpg images as layers;
    Move the layers to the animation window;
Set the cycle times and optimize the animation window; and,
Use the Save for Web Devices dialog to create the GIF file.
Everything appears to be normal throughout this process.  However, the exported GIF file appears as a dark gray frame when I open it in IE, or upload it to my image hosting site.
Anybody else experiencing this type of problem?
    Thanks

No, my Photoshop CS5 saves animated GIFs just fine, and I did just what you said.  For example (you have to click on an image here to see it animate):
Can you post your image here?  Maybe it could be a problem with your browser not animating the image properly?  What version of IE do you use?
