Animated gifs in PS CS6

Hi all, I am trying to save animated gifs from PS, I can get it to work fine when the layers are just flat layers, but I need to create the animated gif when I have layer folders... Ie layer 1 will have a graphic and some text, layer 2 different graphic and different text. But I have to create lots of banners each with a slight change on the text. So I want to keep the text editable so its quick to just chnage the text and then save another animated gif. But when I try and create frames from layers its bringing all the bits from the layer as different frames ie the graphic is one frame then the text is one frame etc. Is it possible to create the animated gif while still having layer folders or does it just work if they are flat layers?

Hi thanks for the reply, i didnt think it was really working, but now I have had a play, it does work and its pretty easy to change the text, it does pop open another photoshop file to edit the text, but it works ok.
Thanks

  • Opening existing animated GIF in Fireworks CS6

When opening existing animated GIF in Fireworks CS6, it always flattens it, opening it in its first frame. All other frames (states) are lost. What am I doing wrong?

That's perplexing. I haven't used Dreamweaver in a while. Even though Fireworks is listed in Preferences as my primary image editor, I'm seeing Photoshop on the Edit button, at least with an animated GIF on the page. If I ctrl-click on the image, I can choose to edit it in Fireworks, in which case it opens normally, with all the states preserved.

  • Need Help creating an animated GIF in Photoshop CS6 Trail version

    Everyone,
I am new to PS6 and reating animated GIF's and would like to get some guidance.  I am trying
to put the following animation together and very confused when I try to get the section and also
how to add new things to it.  I am running the trial version of PS CS6 on a WIndoes 7 environment.
Trying to ensure that I can do the things I want prior to puchasing the product.
The following is what I want to do:
    1.     With the logo, have it be as if there is a spotlight moving back and forth at medium speed,
shining on the logo.  Wherever the light hits, have that section sparkle. That will be exquisite.
    2.     Have the "CLICK HERE," words alternate starkly (not blending) between white and pumpkin orange.
Again, medium speed. That will be garish, but is okay because it's not part of the designed section.
The file is attached.  I am having trouble trying to select just the "CLICK HERE" portion of the
logo to have the words alternating color.  I cannot figure out how to get a spotlight function to this logo.
Then how to have it sparkle when the spotlight hits the other section of the logo and not have the
spotlight going over to the "Click Here" part of the logo.
I could really use some direction on this and would appreciate it greatly.  Thanx in advance.
    Jerry

The banner does not have to be this large.  Here is a link to using the spotlight with sparkles:
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5012713-285076/371-194/bannerA nimTest2.gif
Also, the spotlight should be just over the "CLICK HERE" section.  If the spotlight could apply in the diameter to the whole text of "Click Here". and use the sparkles,
that would be great and then I can break it out and see how it is done.  Again, it does not have to be this large, maybe a little larger the the size of the first one I posted
would be good.  Then how would I get it to a jpg and gif file?  Thanx in advance.

  • Animation Gif sur Photoshop CS6, problème export.

    Bonjour,
    Cordialement,
    Tristan

  • Animated GIF Doesn't Play To The End

I've created a simple animated GIF in Photoshop CS6, eight seconds long, 30fps.
I have several layers that fade out at and then more layers that fade IN at four seconds. It plays perfectly in Photoshop, but a rendered GIF doesn't play entirely to the end - it stops prematurely.
How do I fix this?  I've tried the animated GIF in a browser and it does the same thing in a PPT slide.
    Anyone?
    Thanks.

    Thank you, Nancy.
I just reduced my project file down to 15fps and three seconds long.  Testing the animation in the Save for Web dialogue box I see that it still won't play to the end.  The fade-in stops before it's at 100% opacity.
The rendered GIF file size would be 242k.  I HAVE to use Save for Web, as Save As will discard hidden layers and animations.
Still can't figure out what causes this, and I've had this happen to me before.  (I bet I wouldn't have this problem rendering out of After Effects.)

  • Animated GIF problem saving for web in CS6

I made an animated gif in CS6 and trying to save it for the web. The duration of the animation is pretty long, about 44 seconds. After 17 seconds the animation stops while the saving was completed. How can I solve this problem? The file is too large to attach (725 x 225 px) unfortunately.
    Please give me some advice;-)

Yopu probably exceed the GIF specs and generate too many frames.
    How many frames are possible?

I've looked all over but have yet to find a good tutorial on how to edit an existing GIF I've found on the web. • Better use for Fireworks CS6, other than animated gifs and batch process?

I started using fireworks in the much earlier days of web design back in 2000. Now with Illustrator and Photoshop being the law of the land, fireworks has begun to fade and take a back seat.  Primarily right now i use fireworks just for creating animated gifs and batch process if i have a bunch of images that i would like to re-export or format to my liking.  Does anyone have any other better uses for this program?  detPhx
I am just looking to utilize this more, since i install it.

For the web, exported PNG compression is better in FW than PS.
CS6 FW can now generate code  for CSS3 borders, gradients, Sprites, etc...
FW can be used for jQuery Mobile Theme skinning

I still use AI for vector graphics & PS for photo & image manipulation, but FW has some nice features for web designers.

  • Photoshop CS6 linking to a URL in an animated gif

Feel a bit anal asking this as my experise is not in animated gifs but I need to know how to link either the last frame of an animated gif to a url.
Not even sure this is possible in PS.
    anyone?
    R

Links are not in animated gifs.  Links are a HTML thing like this
Its a html tag hyperlink and in the link you include a image using an image HTML tag the image can be an animated GIF.

  • Problem saving animated gif

    Hello!
Just for fun i was planning to edit a animated football tackle gif. I was planning to remove the player who tackle in each and every frame of the animated gif. So it would take some time to finish.
I have successfully opened the gif in CS6 via import Video Frames to Layers.
It consists of 72 layers and i have tried to fix 10 of them just to see how it roughly would look like.
My problem comes when I try to save and render the GIF (via save for WEB).
The 10 first frames of my gif only shows one freezing frame, and then it shows the rest from 11-72 without any problems.
What am i doing wrong, since my edited layers don't show up in the final GIF?

    Right on! Easy solution.
First, the reason your first 10 frames are not changing is because each of those frames shows the same layer (Layer 1).
In your layers panel, you have Layer 1 set to visible and all the other layers are invisible. That's good for Frame 1, but for frame 2 you'll want to make Layer 2 the visible one.
Click on Frame 2 in your Timeline panel and then check the eyeball icon to make Layer 2 visible! Do the same for Frame 3/Layer 3, Frame 4/Layer 4, etc. until you get to the end of the animation!
To address the second problem, the option for Make Frames from Layers is greyed out because you already have frames in your timeline.
Go to your Timeline panel and select all the frames and delete them.
Then select all your layers in the Layer panel, right-click and choose Make Frames from Layers... you should be able to click on it once your Timeline is cleared. It will automatically create frames that go from Layer 1 to your last layer (so, you wouldn't have to do it manually like above ^).
Either way should take care of your problem! Please let me know if this works for you!!
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • Animated Gif to BMP

*tl;dr- Easy way to take the frames of a GIF and change them to a BMP (there are about 40 frames per Action)
So- My friend was learning Java to build a game on Android while I would create the graphical resources. It will be a fighting game- so I went ahead and made animations for the moves and all the characters.
He needed help understanding the language so I thought I would go ahead and teach myself as well.
I read faster than him- and I got to a point where I find out that graphical resources have to be in BMP (or so the author tells me) and that each frame in gif is a seperate BMP.
    So- is there an *
    Photoshop CS6
Willing to get on the cloud or something for the other CS programs.

Yes, Ps CS6 can do that. An animated GIF will be opened as a document with each frame on a separate layer. Then the "Export Layers to Files" script can export a folder of BMPs.

  • Animated Gif with large base image & small animated part.

    Hello guys
I'm not really sure how to explain that, due to my limited English comprehansion. I will try with images.
I can easily create animated gif out of multiple layers, given each layer is identical, with small changes accuring over time.
But I yet to figure out an animated gif, that uses one large image for the base, and only small part of it is animated.
I always get the animated part working, without the large base applying across all the frames. All it does, is flashes once
the frame is reached and then moves on to being transparent, showing only the small animated part.
For example, this is a GIF made with Galaxy S4, of my friend playing with his phone, imported into PS CS6. On the Galaxy,
after I record the GIF, I can use my finder to touch, mask and freez parts I don't want to move, and leave only small, animated bit.
When I import it to PS, it shows one layer with full image, and bunch of frames with the animation part only.
    http://i.imgur.com/UAiopQA.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/7XOGGV6.jpg
Problem is, once the image is open with PS, I'm not able to export it to keep it working in the same manner. Given the Samsung's
gifs are 8 to 10mb, it's hard to edit it, to make it more size friendly.
The gif clearly works the way I describe, so there is a setting or method I don't know about.
If PS is not best tool for editing GIF, what other apps would you recommand I use for it?
Thank you for the taking the time to read
    best regards
    Monica

This has been an ongoing issue for me since I switched from Powerpoint to Keynote. Most of the animated gifs with transparent backgrounds that I used with Powerpoint are no longer transparent in Keynote. You may want to search for those earlier threads on this topic...
To summarize: I've had to open up my animated gifs in After Effects and use the Color Key effect to restore transparency, with mixed success.
    Good luck!

  • Animated GIF transparency in Muse

I am using Adobe Muse CC 2014 and am interested in placing either a transparent animated .GIF image or an Adobe Edge Animate CC 2104 transparent .OAM image on top of
an image in the <body> section. Placing the Adobe Edge Animate .oam image results in a NON-TRANSPARENT background, even though the same background when
creating/saving/viewing the .html image in Adobe Edge Animate  displays as transparent.
I created an animation with a transparent background in both Adobe Photoshop CC 2104 and Fireworks CS6, saving the file as an animated .gif. In both applications, the
background is again, transparent. Placing either of those animated .gif images on top of a <body> background image (.jpg) results in a white stroke/outline around the
non-transparent part of the animated .gif.
All help would be greatly appreciated for enabling either an Adobe Edge Animate .oam image with a transparent background, or an animated .gif file with a transparent
background to be placed on top of a <body> image in Adobe Muse WITHOUT a stroke/outline of any color. Either the steps to make this happen OR a temporary
    workaround would be terrific!
NOTE: The stroke of the image has been set to NONE in Adobe Muse to remove this option as a variable.
    Thanks,
    Prefix

I appreciate your reply. The problem, in this case, did not lie with Photoshop or Fireworks - both of which were used in the creation of the animated images. In both
applications, adding a darker background (just for testing purposes) shows no white outline. As it turned out, the problem was due to the nature of saving (in this case)
a .gif from either a .png file (native to Fireworks), or from a .psd file (Photoshop, of course). The .gif supports transparency, but only at greater than 50%. Anything at 50% or
less (as would occur with anti-aliasing or feathering, for example) will resolve to white. Since there was feathering (and anti-aliasing) for both the transparent characters
as well as the outer edge of the sphere, saving the file as an animated .gif caused the white outline to appear.
The GOOD news is that there is a solution to the problem. I created a file with the animated images 3X larger than the final size. When the image was reduced
in Adobe Muse to the desired size, the white outlines disappeared, leaving me with what I intended as an image from the beginning.
Thanks all who replied and ultimately helped to determine first the cause of the white outlines, and then a way to "fix" the problem.
All of your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Animated Gif - Save for web not showing full frame range

    Hey,
I'm trying to export an animated gif with 52 frames - I'm using the timeline in CS6, it's exported correctly in the past but when I try and save for web only a seemingly arbitrary number of rames appear in the animation. With no clear route to rectify this, I've tried to affect the outcome by simply moving things around on the timeline.
I've had a variety of frame ranges (and frames) numbering between 2 and 6 frames, far off my 52 target. It's a simple image and equally simple transition to keep filesize down but I'm completely bamboozled by this. It looks like a bug but any advice I could get would be much appreciated.

If it worked in the past with CS6 try resetting your CS6 Photoshop Preferences.  If you still have the problem after that.  Up load the PSD file to a server and post a link to it.
