Animated sms message on Nokia C5

Recently, I received an SMS by Bluetooth to my Nokia C5, which takes the form of an animated gif and that seems to be part of an anti-crime campaign from Crimestoppers (the file is crimestopper1.gif.  It appears in my list of received text messages with a bluetooth icon and as soon as I click on it, it plays it's message, but I cannot figure out how to delete it. When I click 'options', I don't get the option to delete.  Any ideas?

Hello maxwurr, try this download xplore from this site http://lonelycatgames.com install it then open it then go to the menu in it then tools then messaging. There you will see the image then try to delete it if the delete option is not there then move the image then delete it. Or try this save the image file by using the save option in messaging then try to delete it from gallery. Try and reply.

  • Error when downloading SMS messages from Nokia 623...

    Hi,
I have been using a Nokia 6233 phone for the past 3 yrs. Now that my phone memory is full I was attempting to download the messages in my inbox to my PC. However when I attempt to connect my phone to my PC (this is the first time that I am trying this) I get an error "The operation could not be completed" with an OK button.
The below are the steps that I have performed.
Connected my Phone to my mobile (it connects and I am able to download all multimedia related files without any problems) using a data cable and the Nokia PC Suite ver 6.70.22 software.
Successfully taken a backup of my Phone memory and my memory card.
From the PC Suite launched the option for Messages. Opened the folder for Inbox, however didnt see any messages in my inbox in the PC. However there are aprox 350 messages in my phone inbox.
Then I right clicked on in the folder (messages) and selected refresh. To this I got a popup which read  Updating ... "Phone and comuter messages  are now being updated".
After thinking for some time I got the above message.
I have tried this a dozen times by disconnecting my mobile and connecting it again and even restarting my PC but with no luck.
     Would greatly appreciate your assistance.

  • N82 Animated SMS and Predictive Text Problems

I've just got a new N82 and think it's a great phone. I downloaded and installed the Animated SMS program from Nokia's software site and have a couple of problems! The first is that I've set my left direction shortcut to come up with a New Message, now it lists SMS, Email and MMS but no A-SMS, I have to go through the message icon in the main menu. The second problem is that when I open the A-SMS application up and I do use and like Predictive Texting, it doesn't work! Everytime I push a button to start texting nothing displays on the screen and SPELL comes up over the left softkey. Turn off Predictive Texting and it works, very annoying. Anyone else had any problems and anyone know a solution? Have contacted Nokia who haven't got back to me yet.

you might want to try FA136050 here
    /t5/Software-Updates/Symbian-Anna-Troubleshooting/td-p/1127953
but i've always used the * button to scroll through options. once you move off the word it stops being a sequence of key presses and just becomes the letters as is.
There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma.

  • Nokia 5310 Is it possible to send a sms message fr...

    Hi Guys
I am using a Nokia 5310 and was wondering if it was possible to send a sms message from my phone to my computer via Bluetooth? I can't seem to find an option to do this and don't know whether I am missing it or if it's just not possible.
Any help or advice would be great.
    Thanks Claire xxx

You can't send an SMS. However, if the phone (I don't know the 5310) has a note-taking application where you can create text notes/memos, the application might have an option to send the note/memo over Bluetooth. You might also be able to find some Java application to send text messages (still not SMS, technically) over Bluetooth, if the phone doesn't have such a feature built-in.

  • Cant view SMS messages with PC Suite 6.8 (Nokia 66...

    Hi all,
I am using Nokia 6680. I was using PC Suite 6.5 previously and i cant read my sms messages from the PC browser, nor the PC Suite.
I follow the advice from this forum to upgrade to PC Suite 6.84, and i still cant read sms messages from my PC. does anyone have antidote to this problem?
    Much appreciation!

Hi Miksu-san, thanks for sharing. yes that does help. Thanks for enlightening. Will need to press on F5 for it to update.
Miksu-san, do u know if there's anyway we can extract the sms data, in bulk and in organized way, except from purchasing the Noki software? Much appreciation in advance.
Matt, to view, please see my reply with the same problem under nokia 6270 thread.

  • Nokia 6288 - Viewing of sms messages

1 - I find that I am unable to access a received sms message whilst I am in a chat programme. I have to log right out of the chat programme to read and reply to the sms. Is there a way around this? My previous phone was a Sony Ericcson and it would allow me to view and reply whilst in the middle of a chat programme.
2 - The back light goes out far too quickly making reading of smses or emails very frustrating. One cannot press any key to illuminate the screen as a menu option is activated unintentionally. There doesn't appear to be an option to extend the time of the back light. Any way around this?
If someone could solve these 2 problems, I'll be eternally grateful.

Sadly neither of these issues can be fixed.
The 6288 is not designed to multi-task so you cannot use another program until you exit what you are in.
The light time-out is hard coded into the firmware and cannot be changed. The time-out on older nokia's was 15 seconds which was perfect but it's been lowered to around 10 seconds on newer phones. Probably to save battery power.

  • Nokia 7100 and old SMS messages on SIM card

    Dear all,
I just bought my wife the Nokia 7100 and she very happy with it. One strange thing with this phone is that it does not recognize the old SMS messages that are still on the SIM card. Is there a way to make them visible and copy them to the phone?
    Thanks for your help
    Patrick

i do not believe so, current sim card do not store any text messages unless they are service messages, i suggest that you update your sim card as it appears to be well into age in technology years. you can try to acess sim card messages in the messaging folder and select the option to copy messages into phone memory or memory card if such option exists but again im not sure that there is such opiton. if you do have the sim message option, select left side option key scroll down to copy and you just might be able to copy it to the inbox. let us know what happens.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....

  • How to disable Unicode in SMS messages (Nokia 6670...

    Hello.
I've bought N6670 and the first thing I want to change, is to disable Unicode charset in SMS messages. I use T9 dictionary, so the Unicode special charset is enabled (I'm from Poland, so there is a lot of special chars).
But - of course - message with special chars is bigger, so the phone sends for example 2 messages, instead of one.
Is it any chance to turn of sending special chars?
    Regards
    R.

    Hello,
We use such messages in transliterate characters. As example, privet.
    That's the easiest way.

  • Animated SMS's for N-Series.

Hi All Guru's of Nokia Forum,
I have found another issue with my N73 phone, it does not allow me to add/read animated images in SMS's, and also smilies looks like text messages instead of actual smilies when we send or read SMS. I found animated SMS software in net but it is not free it costs around 3 Euro.
I guess this is also a Basic feature which comes in any other mobiles, I am not sure why Nokia don't add this features! Is it indirectly supporting private software market so that Nokia mobile users can go n buy those software’s to make them Rich?
Any body Pl let me know how can I read/send smilies which looks similar to yahoo smilies through SMS's in N73.
(Note: My previous topic "Animated wallpaper for N-Series mobiles" discussed about another issue with N-Series, you are welcome to reply for that thread too.)
    Thanks,
    Dileep.

The hitch here in having that software for smileys, is that the other phone receiving it should have the software too, else they will see what you saw in your phone without that software.
    Incorrect.
Other phones see the smilies as normal (either as text smilies or that phones own picture smilies). The message are still sent as a standard text message, not picture messages so there is no additional messaging costs.
The program will convert incoming messages smilies so you will receive messages with smilies.
The only people that won't see the smilies are people with older incompatible phones or those with smartphones without the software. These people will see standard text smilies.

  • Help with animated gif messages

I can't seem to get animated GIFS with music as a SMS or a MMS to play. They are sent from people with phones like the Razor, LG, Envy etc. on the same network as mine ( Verizon ). When I get the message it will show the GIF for about 1 second then it dissapears, then the music plays. It will also give me the option to open the attachments or slides but the GIFS don't open . I can get Video messages from anyone and the videos plays fine. In the past when I opened one of these messages it would kill the audio on my phone and I would have to do a hard reboot for my phone to work even though I could still receive SMS and MMS messages, just the audio on the phone died. I was told the new OS 4.5 would correct this. The only thing it fixed was now if I get a animated GIF message it still does not play but my phone does work and I don't have to reboot. Is there a setting I need to change or is this not supported? I have 2 Curves 8330 OS 4.5.0.77 BIS on Verizon with the unlimted BB plan.
    Thanks,
    Leo

  • PC suite export/import breaks SMS messages

    Nokia PC suite 6.85.14.1
    Windows XP SP2
Phone 6500 classic connected either by Bluetooth or USB
just updated 6500c to 4.84 firmware
an sms message is received and is viewable fine in Inbox
using the phone I move it to Archive, it is still OK
I then export it to PC (drag-n-drop to a folder)
I delete the message in the phone and import (drag-n-drop) back to Archive
The message is there but it does not show sender name (instead I see the date in the header)
When I open the message and click message details, I can see that
To: field contains the actual sender, while Sender: has (no address)
I tried various things including messing with vmg content (putting same TEL: field to both VCARD entries), but on the import to 6500c, it is the same story - as if the import swaps the sender with receiver and clears the sender field
Please also note that at all times, when I view the messages in PC Suite (phone browser) they show correct sender field, I just need to see the same on the actual phone
Is there something I am missing?
Generally I just need to copy old sms messages from 7260, but when importing them they break as described above. I then tried to export a "6500" message and import it back - with same result. So it appears to be a PC Suite issue rather than anything

al_lea, thanks, I already thought about that, but as I said to exlucde any incompatibility issues within vmg I tried a export/import of a "native" sms freshly received on the 6500, and it gives the same problem.
I also tried changing versions to 3.0 manually in the vmg with no luck.
I'm starting to think the message is actually ok, but it's probably the 6500c software that doesn't display them right. When I try to reply to "broken" message, it does go to sender, even though he is not displayed as one
it looks like PC suite export or import strips the empty to: VCARD from inside the vmg, which is fine by the standards but 6500c doesnt like

  • Archiving SMS messages offline with PC Suite 6.7

First of all, I'm not a computer expert so I really hope someone can help me! I downloaded PC Suite 6.7 and would like to archive my sms messages (received messages and sent messages) offline on my PC. But it seems that I can only see my messages when my phone is connected to the PC, once I disconnect, the messages are no longer available. This means that I cannot archive my messages. I used to have an old version of Nokia Phone Editor 4.5 with my old cellular which allowed me to do this.
Basically, what I want to do is this:
    - Archive my messages on a regular basis so that I can delete them from my phone and free up its memory
    - Access these messages even when my phone is not attached to the PC
It seems that I cannot view my Contacts either unless my phone is connected. Why is this? I did not have this problem with Phone Editor 4.5. Should I install an older version of PC Suite?
I am running Windows XP and using a cable connection.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I'M GOING CRAZY!!!
    Thanks, Michelle

Hi, I don't have a solution either. I have tried copying the files while the phone is connected into a separate folder. The files will copy and they are accesible, but the dates are all messed up. Rather than the date the message was sent, it notes the date the file was created which is the date I copied them. So, messages sent over the course of a week all have the same date and almost the same time.
I have also tried the export message option which makes each message a single cell readable in Excel but that single cell includes everything, the message, date, time, sender...certainly not a convenient way to archive messages.
One main reason I decided to invest in a more expensive Nokia was the belief that there would be a good solution for archiving messages. I am sadly disappointed.

  • Can't send audio messages from Nokia E63 to email ...

I used to send audio messages from my mobile to my friend's email, and it worked fine.
But some days ago it stopped working. I keep on seeing this whenever I try to send audio message.
"In order to send/download MM messages, the current active connection may be closed (this may affect other applications in use). Do you want to continue ?"
When I disconnected connection, it fails to send again. I saw this message:
"Multimedia message cannot be sent. Packet data connection not available"
It is impossible for me to send the audio message if I close the connection because I'm not having internet in my phone.
I have been using packet data connection to send all the messages to email all the time and it went OK. I got that problem just a few days ago and I cannot send any audio messages now.
I can still send normal emails (non-audio message) from my phone through packet data connection though.
The problem is only when sending the audio message.
I'm using Nokia E63 and I'm in the UAE.
    My mobile provider is "Du".
I use packet data connection from "MyWorld"
I don't have any other packet data connections. I had many but now, MyWorld is the only one in my phone.
Please help me how can I do it.

    Automatic configuration.
Your mobile will be automatically configured to access the MyWorld mobile portal when you first join du.
You will receive an SMS message, which you should accept and save.
You can also request for these settings by sending the following SMS message “du” to 333 or by calling Customer Care on 155.
Availability of the MyWorld mobile portal and of the relevant settings is dependent on your handset type.
For more information on MyWorld, call 155 from your mobile or visit us at www.du.ae
    This might do the trick.
