Animated swf export resolution

I created a 3 minute animated cartoon episode in Flash at a resolution of about 500x300 pixels. I'm wanting to export it as an mov of a larger size, however, it's pixelated and it appears that flash is still rendering at the smaller size even though the final video is the right size. Is there any way to export a smaller flash animation to a larger video size without changing the size of the artboard?
I've tried doing this but the animation is so complex that it bogs the entire program down when I try and modify it. The only option is to look into alternate export options. I've taken the swf into After Effects and increased the size but After Effects continually crashes right in the middle every time. How convenient. Anyway, I'm about to go nuts, any ideas?

Thanks for the reply!  I had considered that fact, even though I couldn't find any documentation for it.  However, even with a static mask, drawn onto the layer, the rasterization still occurs.  Is there a way to have even a static mask produce a non-rasterized export?  It seems it should be the case considering it's a 'supported feature.'   Do I need to import vectored shapes from Illustrator as masks, instead of drawing them in AE?  And yes, Continuously Rasterize is checked (althought it doesn't seem to be necessary in any other of the Illustrator layers).   Any ideas?

  • Animations to SWF Export, place back, make PDF: Acrobat XI?

I read that Flash runtime is not supported anymore in Acrobat XI. What does that mean for clients viewing PDF files that have placed SWF files and viewing them on computers that have no Flash player/plug-in installed? I have clients that export InDesign animations to SWF and place them back before making a PDF...

Please help me, how can i quit receiving thesemeseages from This In design forum?

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • SWF Export Image Quality Issue

I'm having an issue with a flip eFlyer myself and a colleague are working on in InDesign CS4 and need some input. We've created a eFlyer with page curl transitions and exported the swf file. When viewing the swf however, the page images vary in quality depending on whether the page curl is moused over or not. For example, the swf file resolution appears somewhat low without a mouseover, however when I mouseover the page curl in the corners, the resolution of the file noticeably improves (ie the image becomes clearer and more legible to read). Can't figure out why this is the case. Any thoughts?

I guess what´s happening "under the hood" is that flash player creates a bitmap copy of the page when ever user moused over, page curl effect is done with that bitmap, not with the actual page....
I think you have couple of ways to improve your document´s quality
    1) prepare your images in photoshop, resize them to resolution 100ppi or even 120ppi, when you export your SWF, use Losless(do nothing) compression..
    2) Or use high resolution images and export your SWF with larger size, for instance heigth of 1000px. Go to Adobe Marketplace:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/marketplace/index.cfm?event=marketplace.offering&offeringid=1 7503&marketplaceid=1
Downoad and install eDokcer, open eDocManager AIR-software and browse your SWF to it and hit Publish Locally button, eDocManager creates you a SWF with user interface and shrinks your large SWF to smaller, then resolution gets better.
You may use eDocManager for 3 days without license key... but that should be enough for making your flyer...
I´m not sure if either of those tricks really solves your problem, but I think that way you get better quality anyway...

  • Applying different URL's to animated SWF Document

    Hi there
Can someone please help, i am working in Illustrator to create animated SWF files.  These need to contain a URL.  I have read the forums and found out how to do this for a flat non animated SWF file and this works, howerver when exporting Ai layers to SWF it doesnt work.
Ideally i want to apply different URL's for each frame of the animation...but will settle for just having a single URL at the moment!!!
Am i able to do this in Illustrator or do i need a different package?
    Thanks
    Simon.

Forget it. It doesn't fit in thze "slice" model of AI and PS. What you want requires and event-centric approach and that can be done in Flash Catalyst, Fireworks and InDesign - that is, the soon to be released CS5 versions. A public Beta of Flash Catalyst is still avialable on Adobe Labs, so give it a spin. Otherwise use Flash or do your multi-link banner/ graphic "the proper way" by using JavaScript with jQuery and focusing on doing this all within native HTML/ CSS.

  • .swf-Export mit Testversion

    Hallo,

There´s no limitations with trial if that´s what you asked. You probably have you export resolution set too low. Default resolution is 72ppi and it doesnt give very good result. When you export your SWF, go to Advanced tab and lift up the resolution to 96ppi or type for instance 120ppi to resolution field.

  • Can I make an InDesign CS4 .swf export scale depending on the open size of a browser?

Hi there.  I would like to make my inDesign CS4 .swf file able to scale in accordance with the open size of a browser.  When I have used Flash previously changing the size of the document to 100% achieved this effect.  However, I'm not having much luck with this approach with my inDesign CS4 .swf export.  I'm loathe to export it as an XML file for Flash as I want to keep my fancy page turns. Any help would be very much appreciated.  I'm not very fluent in Flash-speak so I'd also appreciate it if anyone offering a solution could t-a-l-k r-e-a-l s-l-o-w.

This is quite old thread, I don´t have those source codes anymore... besides many people still uses monitors with width of 1024, 1219px wide magazine would clip in those monitors, so I don´t suggest to use it without shrinking....
Anyway, if you want to improve positioning of your SWF, you have at least two way to do it
    1) Go to free http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/swfobject/generator/index.html and create a new html-wrapper for your project
    2) If that´s not enough or you want some extra features like zoom, print or search, go to http://www.edocker.com and download a free trial of eDocker.
ps. eDocker is in Adobe MAX Awards final, if you want to help it to win.... go to

  • Set exported resolution for each image within InDesign

I'm generating a document in InDesign destined only for the screen (as a PDF) and I'm wondering whether in CS6 the user can set the exported resolution separately for each image. i.e click on a image and set the resolution for that image. Reason: to allow end-viewers to zoom in on certain images and retain quality.
And while I'm on the subject of changing resolution, a few years ago someone wrote a script for me (in response to a post), that when you clicked on an image within InDesign, resampled the original to 300 dpi, saved it, and made the necessary adjustments in InDesign so the image stayed the same size.
Can CS6 do that? Or do I need to dig up the old script?

    > ... destined only for the screen (as a PDF) ...
The developers of PDF will thank you for that statement!

  • Automatic page transition in swf-Export

    Hello,
I have a brochure for a swf-export. I want the pages to turn automatically after a few seconds.
Haven't found such option yet. Hope you can help me.
    Regards,
    Paul

There´s no such feature in InDesign....
If you want to make that happen, you need to do some actionscript coding.
Is this what you want (it takes few seconds to start):
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17227987/autopageturn/index.html
If it is, you can download those files as zip-pacakge:
    http://www.edocker.com/support/edocker-freebies/
    1) Extract ZIP,
    2) replace SWFfromID.swf, you may actually export SWF from InDesign directly to that same folder, use that name and overwrite existing file.
    3) Then open index.html to your browser.
    Pageturning delay is 5 seconds.
If you need more control over your SWF, you may want to check http://www.edocker.com. With it you can add features like zooming, printing etc to your SWF files.....

  • Aperture Export Resolution...

Does anyone know how to change the export resolution in Aperture? Any versions I export are 72 DPI regardless of format (tiff, jpeg, psd), while the RAW masters export at full 300 DPI resolution.
Choose an image, and right-click on it. Select Output>Export Version. I've tried every option, and it always exports at 72 DPI. I know this because I open the exported image in Preview or Photoshop CS2, and the information on the file is that it is 72 DPI.
I've checked in the preferences, but can't find any way of changing this. It seems rediculous that Apple would put out Pro software for Photographers that would only export files at web res.
Anyone know how to change this?
    20" iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Okay, so there are thrid party apps to do it, and I
greatly appreciate you explaining them, but is there
no way to set Aperture to export at 300 dpi for
everything except web and e-mail outputs?
I guess what I'm getting at is that Aperture is
supposed to be the ultimate workflow solution,
eliminating all other applications except Photoshop.
Surely there must be way to set Aperture to export
    at 300 dpi.
The thing is that DPI really means nothing independent of resolution - it is only a kind of hint to other programs as to what the size may be, but does not by itslef really control print size or anything else. Just a default size in some applications. Even though I have given a workaround for setting DPI I really don't use it myself as I simply export and then use the images in other programs, like InDesign, or send them off for printing.
Aperture currently simply ignores these values, passing them on from the original RAW file. So right now it has no way to alter DPI as it does not know what it is for any file. Aperture does not care, it does not need to as it scales images up or down as required by the task at hand.
I agree that Aperture should have some way to select a DPI for export, or possibly let you edit the metadata value for the resolution in a version (along with lots of other metadata). But I also think it really doesn't matter that much, as all that really matters in the end is how many pixels there are in the image you are outputting. That is something Aperture does let you control (though not quite as well for upsampling as I would like).
Does this make sense, or am I not understanding
    something here?
No, you are understanding the current limitations perfectly. What is it you need the DPI set specifically for?

  • Is it possible to write a script that changes swf export settings?

I want to be able to export a swf file that uses a different text anti-alias setting. Is it possible to create a script that can set and export a swf file to my specifications?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Is it possible to create a script that can set and export a swf file to my specifications?
It seems there isn't. A script cannot add basic functionality, only access it. In this case, you can't change the setting because there is no 'antialias text' setting in the SWF export settings.
However, all is not lost. Google turned up this helpful page; it might be possible to edit your SWF after exporting and then re-save it.

  • Keynote swf export compatible with Flash AS3?

I have flash controls now written in AS3 but when I export swf from keynote I get a conflict- looks like keynote swf exports in as2. Is there anyway to change the keynote preference? Anyone know of other converters to produce swfs compatible with AS3?

  • Export resolution stumper. . . .

I'm not very proficient at iMovie, so I'm perplexed by how I increased my export resolution the last time I created a movie.
Here's the background, I have iMovie 11 and my video camera is a Panasonic PV-GS500. Each time I've exported a movie to the media browser, it limited me to a large movie. However, the last time for some reason, it allowed me to export a 1080p version. Now I'm exporting another movie, but again I'm limited to a large movie. Anybody have any idea what I did last time to increase the resolution to HD. The camera, media, and software have remained constant for what it's worth.
    Thanks for the help!

Then I would try - just to in-circle the possibly culprit
    • Start a new User Account (Apple-menu / System Pref. / Accounts / Plus sign)
    • Log out of this Account and into the New one (Apple-menu down to las option)
    • Now start iMovie and import some material and re-try Share function
If this now works - then my Guess is that the problem is in
    • iMovie pref file/s - or -
    • iMovie Casche files
in the old account - and that trashing them will be the medicine (as iMovie now has to create New and error free ones)
This is a very common problem - most often due to - Panic/Forced Quits - as they induces errors in lot's of places ( finally adding up to a Major Break-down ). So by
    • Trashing these files
    • Running - Repair Permissions (Disk Util tool)
    • Running - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but now You first has to start Mac from DVD or ext. Hard Disk)
I can keep this Major problem away as long as possibly.

  • Animation swf in captivate : how to control it?

    Hello
I have 3 objects in my scene :
An Animation swf, with Visible option not actived
A Hide button, with Visible option not actived
    A Open button, visible
When I click the Open button, I want the animation swf and the hide button to become visible.
    I’v got two problems :
On the Open button, I assign advanced actions :
             - Show Animation swf
             - Show StopButton
When I just put the first action (show swf), I’ve got no problem.
When I add the second action, only the Stop button appears. I don't understand why the second action "destroy" the first.
When I click on the button for the first time, the swf appears, and begin to play. Then I close it on clicking the stop button. When I want to play again the animation, it begins from where it stopped the first time. I’d like it to begin from the begining each time.
I hope my english is not too bad.
    Thanks

    About my first problem :
The first time I click the open Button, only the Hide button appears. Then I click this hide button, to hide the hide button (the hide button hide the swf and itself).
Then I click again to the open buton, and this time, the swf and the hide button appear.
