Animated Text on Magazine Cover

Hello,
I am trying out DPS for one month and trying to create an animated cover for a magazine.  I have a couple of issues which would be great if I could get help with, I am a newbie.
1) I have imported an image into the publication as image sequences.  The movie was exported as PNG from Photoshop.  When I view on the motion, it is not smooth and I have increased the frame rate to 25 fps?  Is this an issue?
2) I wanted the Magazine title to fade in.  I applied an animation effect to the text and the SWF preview shows it fading in.  However on the ipad viewer test, there is no animation.  If this is a limitation, any ideas on how it is done?
Thanks in advance

You'll find many tutorials on adobe tv site but from my little experience my advice to you if you use edge or after effects ( image seq.) animate only sections separately and leave the static parts like background as one png image. Then bring your animated sections to indesign and position them there.. like the header and all other titles.
The bakground is static png the moving chair is image seq. overlay.. the button is html
( edge animated ) .. much much light page.

  • DPS - Animated Magazine Cover

    Hello All,
I am considering moving into the DPS world and I am trying to find out how I can do the following :-
    1) Load a magazine cover with an animated background looping - i.e starfield
    2) Animate the headlines on the Cover Page - i.e. have the individual items float in
    3) Allow the user to click on the title of the cover and jump to that page
    4) In an article have a several aminated videos that run automatically on page load and when the user clicks, play the video and audio at full screen.
My question is that are these parts down to DPS?  I have tried to do mockups in ID6 and save as an interactive pdf but I failed to reproduce the desired effects.
I am hoping that it is DPS that is the final peice that I need and not have to start to learn coding.
Any advice or URLs would be most welcome.

DPS is for tablet devices and smartphones, so it has nothing to do with interctive pdf.

  • How can I create transparent animated  text with Motion and Final Cut Pro?

    Hi all,
I am trying to replicate an effect that a previous video editor did in a project, but I can't contact them.
They made animated text in Live Type, and saved it as a QT movie. When this text is placed over existing video in the FCP project, the text is "transparent", basically it acts like text created in FCP (You can see the background image behind the text, like through the middle of the letter "o").
I have made some animated text in Motion, but when I save it as a QT movie, and bring it into FCP, the whole 1280x720 screen is covered by this movie, and I have to crop it so it does not cover the background image. It is all black except for the text. And of course the text is not on a transparent layer. Any ideas how I can create this effect with animated text? I've tried messing with transparency and overlay settings, nothing seems to work.
Running latest version of Final Cut Studio...
    Thanks
    Dave

Just bring the Motion (.motn) project into FCP and lay it over your clip.
The QT you're exporting has to carry the alpha channel (animation codec, million+ colors), but don't waste your time/disk space with that. Just bring the motion project into FCP.

  • Designing a Magazine Cover in Photoshop

I know InDesign is a better page layout program, though are there any reasons why a magazine cover should not be designed in Photoshop if you do not have InDesign?
    Thanks.

    1. How do you keep the text as type? What option is this?
Just don’t rasterize text-layers and they will be kept as vector data in the pdf.
2, how do you keep the logos etc. as vector masks?
To maintain vector sharpness for graphical elements it would be necessary to use the paths as Vector Masks on Layers (Solid Color Layers for example for easy color editability).
    3. Why are these even issues if the file is set up to be high resolution, maybe 300 dpi?
J Maloney’s post (number 13) should help explain that.
    1. Do you mean to set the color space of the file as CMYK? If so, I just assumed that had to be the case if it was going to be printed.
One could also work on an RGB-file (as is usually advisable for images), but that would result in black elements being 4C-black instead of 0/0/0/100-blacks.
    2. How do you "Multiply" pure black elements? Do you mean using layer blending modes?
Exactly. If there are elements that are 0/0/0/100 (for example smallish texts or the EAN-code) I’d recommend keeping those on separate layers set to Blend Mode Multiply.

  • Magazine Cover

Could anyone suggest an online tutorial or book on how to create a magazine cover with Photoshop Elements? I found one source to make magazine covers that does it all online--http://flagrantdisregard.com/flickr/, but I want to actually do it myself using Elements. Any ideas?

A magazine cover should be easy to imitate if you think of it as a series of blocks. Basically a magazine cover is a picture with a bunch of text boxes placed over the picture.
Start by opening an image you want as your cover art. You may need to resize or crop to give it the right persepective.
Add a title-Use the Text Tool, select the font type and size and type in your title-Clint's Weekly. You can then add a backdrop or color box to this if you want. Move it near the top of your picture.
Now Stories Inside: Again select type and font size you want and type what you want the inside stories to be. You may need to use several different text layers if you want different stories to be different styles or fonts. I believe PSE4 has better text control and placement than PSE3.
Finally, you can create some text blocks for price and month and stuff and move those around.
I think if you do one block at a time you'll find it fairly straightforward. Now if you want to emulate a specific magazine format, say Rolling Stones or TIME, you may have to do some web searching for a specific font.
If you get started and get stuck, post back and let us know for what part you need more help

  • Animated Texts in Demoversion don't seem to work properly

    Hey there,
I am quite interested in buying and working with Adobe Premiere Elements (12). I do quite some hobby film editing, and have some experiences on the field with other free programmes (like Avidemux, Movie Maker, etc.), but I have some spare money and thought that Premiere would help me do my job easier, and / or better.
So, I downloaded the demo version to see if I can get around it, and if it has all the functions I want from a program, that is at least a little bit expensive from my point of view.
All in all I think it is neat, but I have one problem that is a severe problem for me. I can't get my texts animated. No matter what I do. I have read the related FAQ-section, I have had a browse-around in the Adobe TV section, and I don't think I am doing it the wrong way - it just doesn't work.
I have my video, audio and all the stuffs in place. Around the time of 10-15 seconds I do have a title (sort of an intro-title-thingy), and I don't want that to just "pop up" and "pop out", but rather have some nifty animation to come in.
    What I am trying is:
Activating / selecting the text passage.
Going to the righthand window, selecting the "animation" tab. There we have the first problem: The preview of the shown effects does only work randomly (which means sometimes it doesn't work at all), and if so, only with a quite big delay.
Nevertheless, when I try to apply any of those animations, I just have no possible way of doing so. The "OK" Button on the bottom of the animation tab is grayed-out, so I can't click that. If I try to drag&Drop the animation on the text in question, it just shows a forbidden-sign and doesn't apply it. Whether I try to drag and drop it on the preview-text in the preiview-video, or if I try to Drag&Drop it to the text in the overview-timeline down below.
From the same window I can apply styles, I can change the text font, etc. The only thing I can't get to work is the animation thing.
I am also quite certain that my new PC should not be the problem - I work on 16 Gigs of RAM, Win 8.1 and an Intel Xeon processor, so that should be enough to handle the workload...
Since I think animated texts are quite improtant for video editing and videos without it look quite, quite less professional, this would be a reason for me to not buy the program at all. Although I think it MIGHT be related to the fact that it is only a demo, but since I can't check that without investing money...
Anyhow, I was hoping that maybe you nice people here have an idea where I am going wrong, and that maybe this is all just related to my own stupidity, so any good ideas? Help? And stuffs?
Thanks for your help in advance!

I have just read your thread and will respond more fully after you have read through the link provided in this thread. Right now I want to point out where I do not agree especially with SG's "The text can only be one line long" when it comes to the Premiere Elements Titler Text Animation Feature. Not so.
For starters, please check out my blog post on the Premiere Elements Titler Text Animations and a sampling of some of the text animation effects that can be achieved in the Premiere Elements Titler Text Animation feature.

  • Animated text not working in SWF preview or exporting SWF file

    Hello-
I am animating text so that it appears after a 3 second delay on page load. However, it does not seem to work at all. It worked for a paragraph of text, but it won't work for text that seems to be surrounded by other objects. I tried moving the animated object to the top-most layer, but that did not work.
Animating seems to be quite buggy in InDesign, is this a usual issue?

Are the surrounding objects static or animated? If the objects are animated, perhaps the animated text is waiting for these objects to complete their effect. And the effects could be set with a long transition time. When working with many animated elements, the timing panel helps with the order that effects will happen.

  • Animated Text In Interactive PDF, also question about SWF distribution

Hello Forum.......first post, so hi to everyone
I have created a indesign cs5 document that has some animated text flying in from the left upon mouse clicking, if i export it to a SWF it works fine but if i export it to an interactive PDF the text is already in place. Is it possible to have animated text in an interactive pdf?
Another question I have is regarding swf files, i need to create some presentations for our sales guys to run on their lap tops while out at clients, when i export it you get the resources file and the swf file....rather than just dropping these into a folder on their laptop is there a slicker way to package it in some kind of projector file.
It would also be nice if in the future I could put the presentation onto a CD and have it auto launch the presentation.
If anyone could give me some basic pointers it would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    James

    Hi, George.
Thank you for your help and reply.
It seems that the Lightbox effect may be complicated to achieve with Acrobat in a relatively simple way. Is it possible to accomplish a similar effect using InDesign CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9 ? I would like to click on certain elements of my PDF document (images or text) and have a window of a pre-specified size (approximately 800 wide x 600 high) open in the center of the screen.
Can I do this in InDesign ?
One other things I noticed is the ability to embed html code in Acrobat. Can this be used to accomplish this effect ? Can a window be opened in the center of the screen triggered by a button in a PDF file so that this window functions as a browser and displays another document downloaded from web address (file located on a server) ?
    Thank you again,
    Joe.

  • HELP! animated text not showing up in final render (after effects)

I'm using position and motion blur for my animated text. I changed the font several times to see if there was any license issues and there isn't. I also put a static text layer in the file and then rendered, and THAT text will show up, but moving text refuses to show up. What can be the problem? Please help!

  • Modifying animated text in iDVD themes

In themes with animated text, such as "Pass Through" (a v6.0 theme), what text object is used to define the actual text that is animated? and if that text object is deleted, how can it be re-added? (presuming that the undo function cannot be used due to a save since its deletion)

Can't answer your question directly, but would suggest re-doing your iDVD project with your new knowledge. Perhaps play with your theme to get it how you want before importing the videos.

  • Animating Text / Type

I'm tying to animate a line of text / type in Director and
I'm not sure what is the best way to go about it .
Can someone confirm that I cannot animate type with Director
the same way I can in Flash? I know I can make it move and so on,
but I want my type to shrink in size as it's animation.
I know I could make a bitmap of the piece of text, but I'd
rather avoid that if at all possible. I thought about drawing the
piece of text in the vector drawing tool with Director, but I find
that quite difficult. Adobe Illustrator is easier for that, so I
drew my piece of text with Illustrator, but I'm having trouble
    importing to Director.
    Cananyone suggest anything?

Yes, animating text in Director is very different from
    animating text in
Flash. Director's sprites follow very different rules than
    Flash's
symbols. Each of Director's sprite types follow unique rules.
Text and field sprites have a one to one relationship with
    the
originating member. If you alter the sprite, you alter the
    member. This
is unique to these sprite types. Consequently, you can't zoom
    a text or
field sprite. You can change the rect of the member, but this
    won't
change the size of the type inside the member, or sprite.
The most common methods for animating text are to use a
    bitmap version
or to use Flash. Since Flash text is a vector, it will be a
    smaller file
size, and it will scale better.
If you create art in illustrator, you can save that file out
    as an .swf
or import it into Photoshop and save it as a transparent
    .png.

  • Animating Text Issue in Ps CS4 Extended

    Hi,
An issue with animating text in Ps CS4 Extended. Graphics on seperate layers animates from frame to frame without problems.
However when I add text, first off stage and on stage after a few frames, it automatically appears on every frame...
I tried to add text as a text layer or as a text imported as a jpg file and the same happens...
I just want to make text move onto the stage at certain moment.
    Any ideas would be great.

    From the Premiere forum...
Go to this link and scroll down to the 1st question after the troubleshooting steps... it links to software that will read the video file and give you the codec that is used... report that information, and someone who uses PS-Extended should be able to tell you if it is compatible (or, it might even be listed in the user guide) http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
There is also information at the wiki about converting files http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ:How_do_I_convert_my_files%3F

  • Font color issue with animated text in Captivate 5

When I prepare a new animated text and open the property and then click the square to choose a color , I only get a  little part of the color panel (when I click the color box) and I have  no possibilities to enter the color code either:
I'm working with a Windows XP, 64 bits desktop and I have Captivate 5 version 5.0.1.624.
Any ideas to solve this issue would be appreciated as it is becoming urgent for me.

@Lieve: You're on the French version of Captivate 5 aren't you?
Can you provide a screenshot of what the Animated Text font colour dialog looks like on your PC and upload it here?
This is what that box looks like for me:
It seems that on this user's PC the colour picker isn't able to float on top of the dialog as it should.
I encouraged Valerie to post her issue on this forum in the hope that one of the Captivate developer technicians would chime in with a possible solution.  I think this one has got to be some kind of bug due to a language version of Cp.

  • Clicking on Animated Text makes Captivate 5 project crash

Consistent behavior. I wanted to add some animated text to a slide and when I attempt to insert it, CRASH!! every time. Has anyone else come across this and found a solution? What is my best solution for salvaging all the work. Already tried save as a different file name--no luck.
    5.0.3.631, Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Update: Downloaded the trial version of 5.5 and installed it. Same behavior. So my file has become corrupt somehow. Can I export the content to another file?

All text animations were created with Captivate 5, but I will try your suggestion anyway. Thanks.
P.S. It's strange that it only crashes when inserting animated text.
