Animation Codec Issues - no preview in Media Encoder or Quickview..

I have recently updated to Mavericks (10.9.5) and I have since found that I can't preview any After Effects creative I have produced with the animation codec in Media Encoder. Normally I would bring the AE file (with animation codec) in to Encoder and resize to convert to an FLV, only now I can't preview the resize so I have no idea what the file will look like when converted. I have seen that people are having issues with the animation codec using quick view (space bar) but has anyone else been having issues in Encoder on Mavericks?

Are you by any chance using the Titler in Premiere? I had some problems with render jobs hanging mid stream on one project and learned that the Titler is not entirely stable.
That's about the only experience I have in this area, wish I could help more.

  • Animation codec issue with iMovie 08

I use the Animation codec a lot as it's a good fit for my workflow.
However, it seems iMovie 08 has issues exporting movies containing clips with Animation video.
iMovie will import them without a glitch, they will play perfectly inside iMovie's preview window but when I export the movie, all the Animation-encoded clips will not be rendered. I still have audio, titles and others clips encoded with different codecs but all the Animation part are pitch black.
    Can anyone confirm this bug?

Check the video rate and the frame rate. See the pattern? Nothing I did would increase data rate or raise frame rate above 1. Looks like a real bug here.

  • CS4 Audio Sync Issues After Render in Media Encoder

I'm editing a 6-part online promotional video right now using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, using MPEG footage (MTS) imported from a Panasonic AG-HMC40 AVCCAM HD. Upon rendering each video to a Quicktime mov in Adobe Media Encoder, there's always at least one instance in each video where the audio is out of sync or there is a 1 to 2 second jitter in the video. Otherwise, the final product looks flawless. When viewed in the timeline, the video/audio mesh perfectly (although, if I keep re-playing the problem clips in the timeline, I can occassionally see some jitters). The same issues occur when rendering to H.264 Youtube Widescreen HD.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    File Info:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1280 x 720
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 23.976

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Average Data Rate: 2.1 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

No, there is no blacklisting here. Now, some might be a tad confused by "Render" in the title, but I'd expect them to read, and understand. I just pointed that out, to avoid confusion down the thread. I expected to read of a Render messing up the sync, but it became very clear exactly where your issue was occurring.
I wish that I had more to add, than a question on the H.264 CODEC, but have not encountered this myself. I'm only relying on what seems to have worked for others, and might not have any bearing on your issue.
    Good luck,

Adobe - Adobe Media Encoder : For Macintosh

  • MPEG-2 codecs missing from Adobe Media Encoder CS6 installed with Creative Cloud Membership

Some people who have downloaded Adobe Media Encoder with Premiere Pro CS6 as part of a Creative Cloud Membership subscription have a problem in which the MPEG2, MPEG2-DVD, MPEG2-Blu-ray, Dolby Digital, & MXF OP1a codecs are missing.
To fix this issue, install the Adobe Media Encoder CS6 (6.0.1) update. Choose Help > Updates to install the update.

It's true. We reached the conclusion that the version CS6 is inferior, a step back,  than 5 or 5.5. What's good about it, is the Audution CS6, which is a great replacement for the flawed Audition CS5 accompanying Suite 5.5. You can almost forget the Soundbooth ... Soundbooth ... hmmm, better not comment, but anyway, the most polite thing that i can say it, is that it is a demonstration of how a company decides that its users are not able to think and not able to learn or understants anything. Anything else that i want to say about Soundbooth can not be written here ....
Adobe has demonstrates this development cicle along all this years. The products takes an uphill curve of development, and suddenly, goes back, showing wrong decisions was taken. So after some time , the products starts to evolve again . CS6 shows this stop evolving point. Now we have to wait untill new uphill curve of development starts again.
Well, but like their predecessors AA CS6 still not are good enough to dispense Audition 3, but it is a good outcome for the Suite CS5.5 Audition at least was a sign of improvement in this Creative Suite CS6
Many of the features and effects that have been deliberately taken out of version 5, now returned in 6, (some) showing that at Adobe at least recognizes when misses badly. But the optimal effects panel of AA3 did not return, some effects of AA3 as fade in and fade out did not come back in AA 6, the optimum VST support of AA3 to not are present in AA6 like many VST we have here that was expensive, you do not work in 6, thus, by these and other reasons we can still not dispense AA3.
Maybe in CS7 we users cam be satisfied.

  • Updating issues with Media Encoder for PC

Um I'm sorry if there was a post for this, but I couldn't find one as far as I know.
Okay I got my video all set to export from Premiere to the Encoder. I hear the sound and etc. After it gone through the encoder, the video comes out fine except it doesn't have sound yet it has sound in premiere.
I think the issue is that the Media encoder didn't update like premiere did, but when I tried to update it won't do it. I even manuallly downloaded the update files and try to install it that way, but it won't work. It doesn't even give me the option to do it. It says to quit the update for media encoder. I have 3 other programs that are doing the same thing too.
I don't know what to do. I don't think I can uninstall that program itself. Any suggestions? I can take screen shots of what happening if anyone needs me to.

Start reading the help file or manual, watch tutorials and get a basic edutation in NLE in general and CS4 in particular, if multiplexing is over your head currently. Multiplexing is one of the settings in AME.

  • PPro Sequences Not Exporting Correctly to Media Encoder CC

So, recently I've been having issues with PPro/Media Encoder CC after the last update. The issue is that once I try to export my H.264 sequences from PPro CC to Media Encoder, the sequence gets completely changed to the Animated GIF codec. When I attempt to change it back, H.264, and a number of other codecs, are no longer available in the Media Encoder list. If I then attempt to use one of the presets on the right dock-panel, such as H.264 > NTSC DV 720x480, the following error message prompts:
Media Encoder has encountered an error:
    [..\..\src\Command.cpp-754]
Has anyone else encountered this batch encoding issue and, if so, has there been any updates/patches to resolve the issue?

Except that it's not an activation issue.
PPro and Media Encoder were working completely fine before. All my stuff is activated and I don't even use Encore, so I'm thinking some sort of glinch must've occurred during the last couple updates.
I think I'm just gonna reinstall PPro and Media Encoder and see if that solves the problem.

  • GoPro Hero 3 Black 4k and Adobe Media Encoder CS6

As a current Creative Cloud member and a Premiere Pro user, I wanted to see if the Adobe Media Encoder can be used as an alternative to GoPro's Cineform Studio (free version), mainly as a batch encoder for use in Adobe Premiere Pro. The main issue with the GoPro footage in Adobe Premiere Pro is that its codec is not compatible with playback in Premiere, there's a conflicting codec that GoPro uses that unfortunately causes it to have choppy playback in Adobe Premiere Pro. Another issue is that the Adobe Cineform Studio (free version) is that one can only export one video at a time. And, finally I wanted to have more export options than what's available in the Cineform.
This is what I've come up with:
    • 4Kcin and 4K show no preview footage in the encoder, and will export as black video - the encoder sees "no video"
    • 2.7cin & 2.7k and below all show preview and export appropriately.
The main issue is that Adobe Media Encoder does not recognize the 4kcin or 4k footage from the GoPro camera. But it can encode 4k or above footage since it has a REDCODE plugin.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • Media Encoder won't import AVI MotionJPEG footage

I am trying to convert an AVI video clip to FLV format using the stand alone Adobe Media Encoder that comes with CS4. The AVI clip in question uses the codec Motion JPEG and Adobe Media Encoder refuses to add the AVI to the encoder queue.
This clip is the first of many that are being shot in classrooms using Canon Ixus still cameras which encode their video using Motion JPEG. The video needs to be FLV in order to be embedded in Acrobat 9 Pro PDF's
Any help with this would be appreciated.

I may have found a reason, at least for my specific situation, although I do not know if this fits anyone elses situation.  The video clips included in the After Effects project was an MOV file, created by a NewTek Tricaster video board setup.  In fact, this affected all my Adobe products (well the video related ones that is) because I ran into a bunch of issues getting them into AE in the first place, with the same difficulties in getting them into Premiere.  And the resulting project files (AE & Premiere) has huge issues getting into Media Encoder.  It was all stemming from these MOV files themselves.
I had to download a NewTek codec to even begin using them in the first place, and even with the downloaded codec, they are still hugely problematic to work with.  Unfortunately my company set up a great deal of time & money in setting these studios up, so I have to find a way to work with them.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 H.264 iPod video format green flashes in Quicktime

Quicktime 7.3.1 apparently shows no flashes but 7.4.5, 7.5.5 and 7.6 all show green flashes on videos encoded in AME CS4 H.264 iPod video small.
    No other quicktime versions tested.
Videos play fine in VLC Player and Adobe Media Player.
Videos encoded with the latest MediaCoder sourceforge application play fine in Quicktime.
Clearly something's wrong with the way Adobe exports and the way quicktime 7.3+ reads H.264 videos.

I think it may be the QuickTime Player issue and not Adobe Media Encoder. Its seems to play find in other players like Adobe Media Player and Windows Media Player after installing Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack 2.2c. (http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Essentials-Media-Codec-Pack/3000-2140_4-1066270 9.html). Haven't check to see if it plays correctly on my i-Touch. Not all videos I encode from .AVI to .MP4 using the i-Pod small preset seem to have this issue.

  • Media Encoder Greater that 7.0 does not recongnise SD footage with correct pixel aspect ratio

    Hello,
I logged this bug with Adobe last year but even through the latest releases the bug still remains and is a real issue for anyone editing in SD via Premiere Pro CC.
Effectvely when you create a PAL sequence within Premiere Pro CC using SD 720x576 pixels (4:3) you have 2 options to export, either Queue or Export. If you export the footage directly from the PP application to MPEG2 SD then the resulting files are perfect, however if you use the queue option and send it to Media Encoder then the resulting files are incorrectly interpreted and the resulting file looks squashed. I suspect the Media Encoder is defaulting to Square pixels and not 1.09xx which is the default for PAL SD 4:3
The issue only started on Media Encoder version 7.1 but I also checked 7.2 and this still has the bug.
I can't believe this is not effecting a lot of people and its taking so long to resolve. Adobe at the time acknowledged the issue but did not provide a time scale to fix.
If anyone has any words of wisdom I would love to hear from you. Maybe I am missing a simple workaround ?? Which could be to just export and NOT queue, however because I use the batch function a lot this is not always viable.
    thanks
    Steve

    Hi Tom,
thanks for the quick response. I'll attach two screenshots -- one from PP and one from AME, both showing the same test chart, but distorted in AME.
    Basically the given parameters are:
    Sequence is D1/DV PAL, 720x576, PAR 1.0940, framerate 25
Export settings are: MXF OP1a, resolution + framerate same as sequence, IMX 50 PAL.
If you still require the preset file, I'll send that separately.
    all the best
    Daniel

  • Media encoder won't encode .flv

    Hi,
Media encoder cc won't encode my x264 codec .flv file.
Error: media encoder doesn't support this compression type.
This is a .flv that was produced by Xsplit, WWW.xsplit.com

Adobe Media Encoder Help explicitly says that Adobe Media Encoder imports FLV files with the On2 VP6 codec:

  • Adobe Media Encoder P2 File Size Too Big for Fat32

    Hi everyone,
I'm working on a project that has to be delivered on an actual P2 card.
I'm on a Mac running 10.9.1 using Media Encoder 7.2.2.29.
My final files are ProRes files and I dropped them into Media Encoder and selected the P2 AVC-Intra 100 1080 option. I set the destination to a local drive and everything seemed to encode properly. I have a CONTENTS folder and all the required subfolders and MXF files. The problem is, when I went to copy the folder to the actual P2 card, Finder told me that some of the files "can't be copied because [they are] too large for the volume's format." And, indeed, looking at several of the video files in the Finder, they seem to max out at 4.29GB (4,294,971,924 bytes), which is 4,629 bytes larger than the FAT-32 size limit.
I just now tried to encode directly to the P2 card and I got an error that was, ostensibly, a "Disk Full" error, but happened at right around where I would expect that 4GB limit to be.
Is this something others have encountered? Is there a setting I missed? According to the P2 workflow PDF here, the folder structure AME creates "can be exported directly to a connected P2 card, or it can be exported to a selected drive and the folders and files copied over to the card."
One possibility might be to split up the files into shorter videos, but I'm not sure how AME would handle ordering on the card.
    Thanks
    David

I wanted to mention, in case anybody else has this issue, installing and using Media Encoder CS6 produces P2 MXF files that are the proper size. I filed a bug report, hopefully Adobe can get the CC version fixed.

  • CS5 Adobe Media Encoder: Encode failed because the source duration is nil.

I've been running Production Premium on my new Windows 7 64bit, 6GB i7 system for several weeks now and haven't had any issues exporting to the Media Encoder.
I installed the trial version of Dreamweaver without any of the add-on's as I thought they might mess up my licensed installation.
Every attempt to export -> media -> queue get's the following error in AMEEncodingErrorLog.txt
    - Source File: C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Temp\someproject.prproj
    - Output File: C:\Users\Rob\Videos\someproject.mov

    7/8/2010 10:14:34 AM : Encoding Failed
Encode failed because the source duration is nil.
Doing the export directly from PP works without error, but I don't want to wait for each export to complete.
Any ideas other than reinstall PP?
    TIA

I noticed that the range selector triangles were right next to each other.
Changed the Source Range: Work Area
Not sure why the default is set for a zero range. It doesn't remember my last setting when I selected the Entire Sequence.

  • AE not adding files to Media Encoder

    Hello,
My After Effects CC is not adding files to the Media Encoder. I can render using the add to render queue option, but when I try to Add to Media Encoder, it will open Media Encoder but it doesn't add the file the the queue list.
I've updated AE and Media encoder and that didn't fix it. Running on Mac Yosemite 10.10.2  Does anyone have any suggestion?
    Thanks for your help

See the known issue here about Adobe Media Encoder taking a very long time to open the first time on Mac OSX v10.10 (Yosemite):
After Effects with Mac OSX v10.10 (Yosemite)
Based on this, my suggestion is to open Adobe Media Encoder once, give it plenty of time to start because of this Mac OS bug, and then try again. My guess is that it'll work fine after that.
