Animation, looking for mail

Used to be, when searching for new mail, on the left, at the inboxes, there was an animation like a spinning circle. This would end with a new number of mail found or a triangle if the server was down or there was a problem. Now, there is no animation. If I click get new mail, it just sits there. I can't tell if the app reached out to the server or not.
Can I get this animation back?
Never mind. I see that Apple has dumped this feature.

  • IMac Mail always looking for mail...

Mail is always looking for new messages - how do I stop it? It is constantly grinding away, trying to find new mail. Force quit stops it, but as soon as I open Mail again, it begins looking for mail to load. New messages come through okay, but it doesn't stop after they are loaded.

Thanks, but I did that - selected 'Manually', then Force Quit. When I reopened Mail, all was quiet. It wasn't looking for mail. Then I clicked on 'Check for new messages'. It downloaded new messages and kept on spinning, looking for others. It doesn't stop. I don't know why...

  • Looking for Mail wildcard search

    Hi All,
I have an incredible amount of data in my Mail app and would like to speed up my sorting of it.
Emails are filtered to folders by mail rules depending on the mail subject but I'd like to manually filter them further,
rules can not accommodate this. My manual sorting is based on small strings of info in the content of the email.
Basically what I'm looking for is a search wildcard that allows me to use * or ? as any character. I have tried both and they
don't work. Is there another wildcard character I can use?

wirenik wrote:What is that reply supposed to mean?
means that I'm tired of such comments
of course, you're always dependent on the company/community/developers of the software... (else there would be no software)
with the sentence "I want to be independent from .." I meant, that I don't want to use particular services offered by a company
with e.g. horde, I just grab the latest version, install it on my server and it works.
if the project dies - doesn't matter, it still runs on my server and I can export all my data (and re-import it into another software)
the mails are on the IMAP server I choose, and the other things are stored in my database
    makes sense, doesn't it?

  • Looking for Mail summary utility

I am using Mail 5.2 on Lion OS
I have many emails in Inbox and slowly clearing it up. But I was wondering if there was a utitlity like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/mail-summaries/ (seen in Thunderbird) which summarizes the email box beautifully
Would be great if such a utility is available for Mail 5.2
    regards

    I've been using
    ffmpeg and it works great.

  • Looking for Mail Rules Management Tools and Advice

I missed article #302257 Mac OS X 10.4.3: Some Mail rules may be disabled after syncing with .Mac
Now I have a big mess with lots of mails being directed to the Trash
unintentionally. I having difficulty sorting this all out.
    I'm synching among 3 machines.
I had started with 153 rules. Without realizing it (see the article above) that number almost doubled but I was puzzled that some rules got turned off. Having so many rules I failed to check for duplicates at first - not that it really should have matter except to slow down the evaluation process a bit.
Rules seemed to be scrattered more widely than they were originally due to the syncing anomoly. But it is hard to get the "big view" with so many rules.
Last night I eliminated the dups on my main home machine. I tried to reorganizing for logic's and clarities sake. But made the mistake of renaming several rules. Now it seems that this caused problem, too.
Is there a better way or, even better, an application that works with Mail.app rules that can help one organize, helps tests the rules, and helps one make sure that the stop evaluating rules drop down is selected?
If there a non destructive way to open and print out the Mail.app rules file in an understandable way? And then use that information to write better mail rules?
    Thanks in advance.

    Jan-David,
    1) Have a look at Cantemo Portal which also has a Final Cut Server migration tool.
    http://cantemo.com/index.html
André Aulich (moosystems) has built the FCSvr migration tool, and the integration with Archiware P5 Archive:

Check out the YouTube videos for FCP X and Premiere integration:

    2) And you might also check out Axle Video:
    http://www.axlevideo.com
This is on the lower end. It has fewer features, but it aims to be a simple MAM, not an Enterprise tool.
I don't think there is a Final Cut Server migration tool yet, but that might be coming soon.

  • Quick Look for Mail on iPad/iPhone not working

HI, I've confirmed this with two other iOS users: Quick Look is not working properly on any audio attachment sent recently. Very odd. This past Sunday (12/9) I received an mp3 file from someone, and it opens just fine on my iPad/iPhone. Tuesday, someone sent me an mp3, but when I tap on it, it will briefly open the Quick Time Quick Look, then close it immediately. Yet a third person sent me a different mp3 yesterday, same thing. My wife has an iPad and iPhone as well, and access to those emails, with the same outcome. I forwarded the emails to a friend in another state, and he experiences the same exact issues. Anyone know if something happened to cause these issues? VERY annoying. Thanks for help
    iPad2 running iOS6

Thank you very much.  That makes perfect sense and I'm sure your right.
However I'd have no idea what address to put and where.  (DNS/Port forwarding/Firewall in router settings?).  Before you say ask your IT man in the office; thats me, (very small company!).  I'd have to outsource this one to our IT guys and at a few hundred quid for a call out I might give that a miss.
I imagine people would need to see my router setting etc so that probably ends this there?  Unless there is just an obvious place to find the info that I'm missing?

  • Pop-up looking for mail.app

Hey, I stupidly deleted my mail.app instead of just disabling it... now I keep getting a message asking me to find the app. it's gone. what can i do to get my macbook to stop asking about it?

    Wrong...
When a client pops the servers first copies the
entire mailbox to a .pop file and then the client is
supplied with the mail that resides inside this .pop
    file
Well, not exactly. How the server operates internally to progress (for instance) from the Authorization to the Transaction state is not defined by the POP standard, nor does POP require that any actual message content be available for the server to respond to common transaction state commands except the RETR one. In fact, rfc 1939 strongly discourages the server from responding with more than the minimum information these commands require.
Because of this, I suspect there may be more than one timeout value involved in Mail.app -- for instance, one for the server indicating it is in the authorization state, another for the time it takes to establish lockout after the authorization transaction is complete, & so on.
IOW, it may not be possible to discuss how to change "the" timeout interval without discussing how POP works to determine where the timeout that is the problem occurs.

  • Where do i look for mail sent through thunderbird that does not get delivered

I have two email clients. One is thunderbird and the other through my local server. I know some of my emails are not being received because of address changes.where do i find or set up undelivered mail notification in thunderbird . To address airmails answer;Thunderbird is being promoted as an open source stand alone email client if i'm not mistaken

There is no such thing as a Thunderbird email account so not sure what you are talking about there. I am not even sure if you are talking about mail you have sent or mail you are expecting to receive.
Thunderbird connects to your actual email providers server Inbox and downloads what is there. Maybe you should contact your email provider. You could check your providers Spam folder to see if mail is getting filtered there.

  • Set up secondary DNS for mail?

When I first configured my server using the advance setup, I successfully setup my DNS services using a domain name for the primary zone that is not a registered domain. I have no intention of ever using the domain name I use internally on the net.
I usually host my mail services with third-party hosting company and just use my server for file and print services. However, I recently purchased a new domain name and have considered using the mail services to host the domain. My question is:
Do I need to setup a secondary zone for this domain, or should I start over and reconfigure my server? I had read that once you configure your primary DNS, it is hard to go back and reconfigure it.
Also, once I have the DNS properly configured, it is my understanding that I'll just need to point the MX records at my hosting company towards my server to make it work, correct?

If you're just looking for mail then there's no need to start from scratch - you can just tell the mail server to accept mail for your new domain in addition to the existing domain.
Before you do this, though, make sure you have a) a static IP address and b) working reverse DNS for your IP address. If you don't have this then remote mail servers may not accept your mail since you look like a spammer.
Apart from that, once you setup postfix to accept mail for your new domain then, yes, all you need to do is change your MX records.

  • Smart mailbox for mails which are not in another smart mailbox

    Hello!
I tried to create a smart mailbox for all the mails which doesn't appear in any other smart mailbox.
I know that I can tell my smart mailbox not to look for mails who are in the inbox or the other default-boxes of the mail program.
But how can I choose a smart Mailbox instead???

Thanks, John, but the original idea isn't mine. Someone else realized that some time ago:

  • Looking for a more suitable animation tool

I've been creating animations from sprites in After Effects, with mixed results.  The input is a number of pixel art sprites (exported from elsewhere), and the output is a video, characters running around and interacting.  I have AFX doing quite a lot, but it's very awkward and I'm pretty sure it's the wrong tool for the job.  Can anyone either suggest better approaches, or more suitable software?  I'll describe what I'm doing now:
    - Many sprites are bodies or heads to combine, eg. a smiling or angry faces and walking or standing bodies.  I set the head position for each body sprite, so any head fits in the right place on any body (trivial rigging), then apply it with a script, so I can change the body and the head moves to the right place automatically.
    - Some sprites have multiple layers.  For example, while heads are normally on top of bodies, a body may have an arm raised, which needs to be above the head instead of below it.  I can create the extra layer for the body separately, and it works for any head.
    - I can set the draw order per-layer.  Usually, one character and all of its parts is drawn on top of another--body1, head1, body2, head2.  But, if two characters collide, handshake, or interact in other complex ways, I may want to draw both bodies, and then both heads, even though the heads and bodies are still anchored normally.  Some sprites may have multiple layers, eg. body, head, hands, legs.  (Z position hack...)
    - Individual layers can be adjusted separately, eg. to adjust the default head position downwards to give a nod.
    - Some sprites are hue shifted (hair color, clothing color) or have more complex adjustments applied, so I can reuse more sprites.
(I'm only describing what I'm doing and not how.  I wrote more detail about what I'm actually doing in AFX and the specific issues I'm having, but it was too long and people can probably already guess the practical issues of using AFX like this.  I'll post more info if anybody asks.)
The result is functional, but a real hassle to actually work with.  AFX is a compositing and effects tool and it's not really designed for animations, and only its scripting support has let me abuse it this much.  I don't know of a better tool, though--searches for animation tools mostly come up with things like Spine (authoring individual models for importing into games), and nothing suitable for creating complex video animations from sprite sets.
There are probably many tools to do small pieces of this (sprite animation sequences, effects, scene animation, camera), but I'd really like to not split into a multi-tool workflow, since I want to experiment freely with a scene, not lay out an entire scene and then create it start to finish.  Does anyone have any suggestions (or better places to ask)?

There are many other DTP applications:

  • I am looking for a CRM system that integrates with mail chimp or constant contact, hoot suite and forms stack

I am looking for a CRM system that integrates with mail chimp or constant contact, hoot suite and forms stack

    Hi,
I could resolve the issue since there were lot of issues after system copy.
    1. During distribued to Cenrtal system - system copy.
You need to combine both DB and CI export copies in one folder during which one thing can happen.
SOURCE.PROPERTIES - this file will be there in DB export JAVA folder and also CI export JAVA folder where
DB SOURCE.PROPERTIES file doesn't have an entry of "src.ci.host". This will stop the SAPINST with error and after modifying the file "SOURCE.PROPERTIES" Traget System Copy finishes without any issue.
Then after this stage I encountered an issue with bind hosts entry in config tool which was due to virtual host name usage in my HACMP setup due to whcih JAVA gives a startup problem.
    I eliminated this issue also.
After JAVA started I faced an issue with XI related navigations.
ecchangeProfile url still had an entry of Production System. This may be a bug.
After changing that entry, exchangeProfile was downloaded but it had all the source system host entries which were manually changed.
Now I can access all the XI related navigations.
I need to also perfrom SGEN and Profiles import.
Do I need to change any additional settings after this so that my production and DR can work without any issue?
Do you have any additional checks which I can perfrom to ensure my DR systems consistency before I start the log shipping from Production?
    Regards,
    Rajkumar

Voicemail is through your carrier and on their equipment.
It's function and features is set by them, not your phone.

  • Mail help! Looking for an additional Mail App for Exchange!

I have been desperately looking for an additional (not the built in) app so I can read my corporate email on my iphone. Does anyone know of such an app?
    Thanks...

With the general Mailbox I got 4 mailboxes. 3 that I always have to be alerted when mail comes in, the general one I have to check in only once in a while. I always have all mailboxes open, however if I have the darn general mailbox in there i loose control over what's important. So I use safari right now for that busy mailbox which is cumbersome.
I just wanted a separate mailbox that doesn't alert me every 2 minutes of incoming mail, yet easy enough to check what's in it when I need it.
I'll give ibismail a try. Thanks.

It sounds like you are looking for a program like Typinator.
It isn't free, and the site doesn't specify compatibility with any OS above 10.7.
As of today, the latest release is dated May 29th, 2012.
