ANIMATION SOFTWARE  simple and easy to use

Didn't know where to post this, so...
Does anyone know of a SIMPLE and EASY animation program that I teach my kids to use? I have a budding artist and would like to move those creative juices from pen and paper to the computer.
Thanx

Simple and EASY way to sync contacts from 3gs iPhone to MacBook Pro. Partner and I both use macBook. I have tried and get a message that only 350 of 3,500 item have syncd- all photos. I'm still learning and am very afraid of doing something that will wipe out all info, contacts and photos. Entering this site, the account shows my partners name, but accepts my other information.

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?

    Hi Cereskit
Thanks again for the message. I've done the updates and have the App Store on my desktop. I went into it and searched for imovie but couldn't find the basic imovie, which I presume is what I'd need for editing?, rather than imovie 11 for £10.49, which is for making trailers, it seems. Also, were you saying that imovie would be free?

  • Best and easy to use 3D floor plan software

So this is not particularly an Illustrator question...
I have started off drawing 2D floor plans for a client project. They now like the look of sparkly 3D floor plans.
Does anyone know of any good and easy-to-use software to tackle this please?

    ...there must be a catch!!
Why "must" there? I've never used it, but right off the bat, from a quick perusal of the web site:
It renders to a raster image. But that may not be a problem for your use.
Evidently, the Pro viersion is prensently only available on Mac OS. But you don't say what platform you are on.
Other than that, nowadays don't assume there must be some "catch" just because a program is lower priced than programs like Illustrator.
Regardless, if you have a series of such drawings to do, I would use a 3D modeling program, not Illustrator, for converging perspectives like this. Otherwise, as soon as you have a couch drawn in one position, someone is going to want you to move the couch to the other side of the room, requiring it to be redrawn.
Alternatively, if it were me, I'd probably have approached the project using parallel perspective (2D axonometric drawing). One of the primary purposes of axonometric drawing is to maintain uniform information density throughout the drawing; the viewer needs to see as much detail in the most distant room as in the nearest.
But if you are already committed to converging perspective, that's not an option. Most 3D modeling programs can render parallel perspective. But whatever 3D program you decide upon, you'll no doubt want one offering a library of pre-built common objects (furnture, cabinets, etc.) that can be edited and added to. So if you go with Live Interior 3D, you'll want the Pro version--again, assuming you are on Mac OS.

For itunes 10.7 it is saying that my mac need version OS X needs to be version 10.8.6 - how do i get this? There are no current software updates and i cant use iTunes for my new iphone 5

    I think you meant 10.6.8, not 10.8.6
It requires an upgrade, instead of a free update.

  • Since i don't have idvd on my new imac, what is the best alternative dvd burning program with similar features? (creating menus, elegant and easy to use, etc.)

I just found out that Apple no longer ships a solo version of idvd with the new macs.  I used this program with my imac as it was simple and got the job done.
In imovie, under "share" there is an option for idvd, but it isn't a program i can get into like the old one for menu creation, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a really good reliable dvd burning program with menu creation features similar to idvd?

    Hi
    There are two answers
    A. No there are nothing like iDVD - at all
    B. read on
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • OWB11gR2 - simple and easy way to load XML formatted data into db tables?

    Hi,
we're currently trying to load table data stored in XML files into our datawarehouse using OWB 11gR2.
However, we're finding this is not quite as trivial as loading flat files...
Most postings on this forum points to the blog-entry title "Leveraging XDB" found here (http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2007/09/leveraging_xdb.html).
This blog also references the zip-file owb_xml_etl_utils.zip, which seems to have disappeared from it's original location and can now be found on sourceforge.
Anyway, the solution described is for OWB 10g, and when trying to import experts from the zip-file etc. we end up not being able to run the "Create ETL from XSD" expert, as the 11gR2 client is different from the 10g and does not have the Experts menu et.al.
Also, this solution was published over 3 years ago, and it seems rather strange that importing XML-formatted data should still be so cumbersome in the newer warehouse builder releases.
The OWB 11gR2 documentation is very sparse (or rather - quite empty) on how to load XML data, all it has is a few lines on "XML Transformations", giving no clue as to how one goes about loading data.
Is this really the state of things? Or are we missing some vital information here?
We'd have thought that with 11g-releases, loading XML-data would be rather simple, quick and painless?
Is there somewhere besides the blog mentioned above where we can find simple and to the point guidelines for OWB 11gR2 on how to load XML-formatted data into Oracle tables?
    Regards,
    -Haakon-

Yes it is possible to use SQL*Loader to parse and load XML, but that is not what it was designed for and so is not recommended. You also don't need to register a schema, just to load/store/parse XML in the DB either.
So where does that leave you?
    Some options
    {thread:id=410714} (see page 2)
    {thread:id=1090681}
    {thread:id=1070213}
Those talk some about storage options and reading in XML from disk and parsing XML. They should also give you options to consider. Without knowing more about your requirements for the effort, it is difficult to give specific advice. Maybe your 7-8 tables don't exist and so using Object Relational Storage for the XML would be the best solution as you can query/update tables that Oracle creates based off the schema associated to the XML. Maybe an External Table definition works better for reading the XML into the system because this process will happen just once. Maybe using WebDAV makes more sense for loading XML to be parsed (I don't have much experience with this, just know it is possible from what I've read on the forums). Also, your version makes a difference as you have different options available depending upon the version of Oracle.
Hope all that helps as a starter.

  • Most accurate and easy-to-use java compiler

Would anyone tell me about what is the most easy-to-use and the fastest java compiler on the net?
if there exists, Include a download link with your message please!!!!

Well, most windows based IDEs will either include an SDK, or ask you for your install directory for your SDK. They allow you to create/edit your java code in a windows based environment, and then provide one-click compiling with errors outputted to a window (you can specify settings using dialog boxes for classpath, output directory, warning levels, etc). There's a ton of 'em out there, ... just search these forums for "Best IDE" or something like that and you'll get plenty of results. But no matter what windows environment you're going to use, you'll probably end up using Sun's javac compiler.

  • Does anyone have a suggestion for an app for recording phone calls that is reliable and easy to use?

does anyone have a suggestion for recording iphone4s calls that is reliable and easy to use

There are no such apps that work. Doing so would require routing the call through a 3rd party service.

  • Flash noob needs help with simple and easy question on animation

sorry if this is completely obvious, but Im having trouble and cant start my project until I figure it out. Basically whats happening is I create two keyframes (1 on frame 1 and the other on frame 10) on my mouth layer. In the first frame its normal and on the 10th frame its a different shape. But when I go out of that layer and into the previous layer overview (if that makes any sense), the change isnt there. Frame 1, all the way to frame 10, looks like frame 10 did on the mouth layer. Shouldnt the change be saved on the previous layer overview and shouldn't I be able to see the mouth change shapes? I havent ever had this problem so am i missing something? If this doesn't make any sense, I can provide some screen caps to visualize to you guys what I'm going off about.
    Thanks.

You could be doing any number of things wrong. If the artwork on frame 1 is different from the artwork on frame 10, and each of these frames is a keyframe in the same layer, did you set a tween on the keyframe in frame 1? If the art is drawn directly to the stage in each keyframe, you should be using a shape tween. If the art in each keyframe is a symbol, then you should be using a classic tween in the first keyframe. In either case you can view the animation by dragging the playback head across the timeline, or, use the play button at the bottom of the timeline window.
When you talk about the "previous layer overview", are you talking about moving from the editing window for a movieclip to the main timeline? If this is the case, then, if you edit a movieclip that is on the main timeline, you should see result of that edit when you play the main timeline. Or is it something else that you are doing?
When you first start up Flash, there is a menu that lets you select what type of file you want to create. There is also a third column labeled "Learn". You may want to spend some time going through those tutorials.

  • Where exadata stands per regards to availability, security, and easy to use

    Dears,
I would like to have details on how exadata could ensure availability, security and storage performance. In other words I know that exadata represent both a database(11g2) and a hosting server for that database. How this hosting service and this configuration could be different from other existing configurations
    Thanks in advance
    Mohamed Houri

    >
But when the system come pre-configured ready to be turned on day one, already configured and secured by the Oracle team, isn't this a problem initself? The Oracle team knows more about the configuration than
the customer who has been delivred the exadata machine does? This is the reason there is documentation provided as part of the hand off. Any new system is, by definition, new and you'll know less about it until you start using it and get accustomed to its configuration and setup. This is the reason you shouldn't expect to put your new system into production immediately, but rather after you've tested it and become familiar with it.
Another question also came to my mind: when there is a problem within this machine can the local DBA/storage/OS team solve the problem without refering to Oracle? Will this not break a support SLA?I'm not sure how you are using the term SLA, but fixing your system yourself doesn't violate any support agreement. Your SLA is your service agreement with your customer and you need to do what you need in order to meet that.
That said, there are some things that you aren't allowed to do (i.e. installing software or making configuration changes on storage cells). But generally speaking, if your system is running normally and has some issue, the issue is more likely related to RAC or RDBMS and changing or fixing things there is within your control to remedy.

  • Preloader is ruining my project... need something simple and easy, please.

I have tried for weeks now to find  a simple way to add my logo and maybe text that says "now loading -  please wait, etc" to the preloader, however, I have yet to find a SIMPLE way to do this.  Every tutorial I have found shows how to add actionscript, or a moving  progress bar with percentages, etc. These tutorials are not for  designers, nor are they simple for beginers. If it truly is that  difficult to add a simple logo (image) and maybe text to the default  flex preloading screen (doesnt have to have the progess bar), I do not  see the benefit to Catalyst/Flash Builder for designers who care about the "first  appearance" of their project.
PLEASE, if anyone can walk  me through the simple way of adding an image, video, text, or whatever  to the loading screen that would be great. As for now I have many hours  of work sitting standby because the loading page and false hope in  catalyst. SURELY there must a solution.
    I REALLY appreciate any help!
    Thanks for listening.

Unfortunately preoloaders are tough issue. I am sure if you work through carefully one of those tutorials you would be able to do. But, as an alternate solution, you could contact a local Flash or Flex user group and see if a member there could help you out. Or even an online group. Just be aware, once it is taken into Flash Builder (which it will be), it can not be reopened in Flash Catalyst.
    Good luck!

  • Convenience and easy to use, functionality

the new FF 4 looks great and the features are good! but how come the FF function icon is locate on the left, but the home and bookmark function icon are on the right? U have to more the mouse from left to right or right to left, very smart? also, when U are in private browsing, U don't see the sight indicate that U are in it?

Generally, all applications are uninstalled just dragging them to the Trash. If it came with an uninstaller and you used it, there's nothing to worry about.
Also, what was that application you installed?

  • The design of this website is confusing and hard to use.

Adobe are regarded as the industry standard of design software, so it seems ironic (or embarrassing) that this website is so poorly designed. I came here simply wanting to post a question about Flash Player but found it the whole experience to be confusing, bewildering and frustrating.
I will list my ten major criticisms below:
    1. ILLEGIBLE FONTS
Many of the site's styles (eg discussion titles) use horribly small fonts, to the point of being illegible and nauseating at normal viewing distance. I have to lean forwards towards the screen to read it. I have never had this issue with any other site I visit. The font used is not a screen font and is simply not suitable for being displayed at that size and looks quite ugly (eg lower case 'e' has no hole). In addition, some of the styles use almost illegible colors (eg gray on lighter gray). This kind of "minuscule" typography might be perfect for a small space (eg application control panels), but for a website displayed on a modern computer monitor (at least 1920 pixels wide) it is totally inappropriate. And my monitor is large, I dread to think how small the text would look on a small screen.
    2. UNCOMFORTABLE LAYOUT
The layout spans the whole width of the screen, making it very uncomfortable to use the site. All the important elements are aligned either to the left or the right of the screen, with a vast gap in the middle, meaning that one has to constantly dart one's eyes (or neck) back and forth, which is made even worse by the small font size which requires a person to "move in" towards the screen.
    3. LACK OF PAGE TITLES
To add to the sense of disorientation, many of the key pages don't have a title, so you simply do not know where you are or what you are looking at. For example if you go to the main list of all the communities (forums.adobe.com/places), there is no title; nothing to tell you what you are looking at. Likewise, if you do a search, there is no title (eg "Search results"). Having titles at the top of pages is fundamental to web design so people don't get confused about where they are.
    4. THE "FORUMS" DON'T LOOK LIKE FORUMS
I was brought to the "Using Flash Player" page by an external link, and when I arrived I was just totally confused about where I was and what I was looking at. The page title "Using Flash Player" didn't tell me I was in a discussion community. The page is littered with so many different links and features it is hard to know where to look and what the purpose of the page is. The page does not have a sense of being a discussion forum. I expect a discussion forum to have the word "discussion" somewhere at the top, with a list of threads and information such as last post, replies, views, as well as a way to see how many threads there are in that forum and a way to navigate between pages and see older threads. Not to mention all the strange buttons which I will mention in my next point…
    5. MYSTERIOUS BUTTONS
A good website uses terminology and controls that people recognize and understand. But all the buttons on this site are strange. At the top of each discussion forum we have "Overview", "Content", "People", "Sub-communities" and "Follow". I can honestly say I have no idea what any of those mean or do (with the exception of "Sub-communities"). Websites should use clear, unambiguous language so that people know what the controls do and are not clicking on the "unknown". If your site does have unconventional controls that people are not going to be familiar with, you should have tooltip popups which explain, to make it easy for newcomers. I have clicked on those strange buttons but on the whole I have not been able to work out what they do. The "People" button would seem to be a way of finding users/members but surely that is a rare function and it should be at the foot of the page not in a prominent location? Likewise when you do a search, you must choose whether to search for "Content", "People" or "Communities". Most people will have no idea what the first two of these options mean, I certainly don't. It's just a very weird site.
    6. INCONSISTENT LAYOUT
Another confusing thing is that there seem to be as many page layouts as there are pages! Every different page I have been to has no common elements or common menus, everything changes. Even different community pages have different features and different layouts. This leaves you feeling totally disoriented. A website's basic controls and menus should not keep shifting around, it leaves the user with no sense of continuity; it cripples their understanding of how the site functions; and it prohibits them from distinguishing between a page's controls and its content, since both keep changing around.
    7. BUGGY
I am less critical of bugs because I know that inevitably they happen, and likewise will inevitably be resolved. But in my brief time using the forums I came across plenty of bugs, two are on the main welcome page:
    A) First of all, a pop-up box appears which says "Say Something" inviting me to click on the pencil icon. I then click on the pencil icon and another box appears with options. However, the "Say Something" box is still there and it obscures the box below it. You can't click on it, so you have to click off both boxes, then the "Say Something" box is active again, then you can click on the small "skip" button, and then finally you can click on the pencil icon again and see what was there all along. Not a serious bug, but clumsy.
    B) Also on the welcome screen there is a link at the top which says "New to the community? Check out our guidelines". I didn't hesitate to click on this because by this point I felt totally lost and confused and wanted all the help I could get. I clicked on that button and it took me to a page called Community Guidelines. I clicked on the first link ("Find answers to questions") which took me to an error page ("Unauthorized. Access to this community or content is restricted. If you think this is a mistake, please contact your administrator or the person who directed you here.
    8. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Finally, the terms and conditions upon signing up are unreasonably long, to the point of being prohibitive. If someone is having a problem with their software, they don't want to have to spend hours reading through terms and conditions before they can even get to ask a question. It is completely out of order to force people to read all those terms and conditions, and especially forcing people to re-read the whole thing any time there is an update. It is simply laziness on the part of the admin. They could carefully go through the terms and conditions and identify the key elements which have been changed and provide the user with a neat summary, thus saving thousands of people many hours of reading. When I take out a mortgage on a house, I have terms and conditions to read, and I expect there to be a lot. But when I simply want to sign up to a discussion forum, I do not expect a similar level of terms and conditions. People can go to, say, Yahoo or Google or YouTube and discuss these issues freely without having to read any terms and conditions at all. By putting up all these barriers you are just turning people away.
    9. IDENTITY CRISIS
Finally (and in conclusion) I would say that the site doesn't seem to know why it exists: whether it is aimed at helping the general public or amusing technology lovers?
I would have expected a site like this to be aimed at the general public, since it is promoted as a help resource by Adobe, and covers a very wide range of products, meaning that a very large and wide range of people should be expected to visit it.
However, the site gives the opposite impression. It has what I would call a steep "learning curve", with complex page layouts, full of unconventional controls and features, as well as the emphasis on community. This would all seem to suggest it is more of an exclusive site aimed more at techy people who want to "hang out" here and become regular users. I feel it is excluding laypeople and casual visitors who are simply seeking quick help.
To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help".
If you want a good example of a good, clean, elegant design that is easy to use, go to www.google.com you will notice that the controls are simple and easy: the eye is immediately drawn to the central part of the screen where the main controls are and there are only two buttons. Then if you want to see more advanced features you can go to the smaller controls which are tucked away in the top right corner and do not distract anyone.

Many of your points are totally legitimate.
    This one, however, is not:
…To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.

Hi X, sorry for the delay.
If I drop a 30fps ProRes HQ quicktime into a 1030p ProRes HQ sequence, I get the preview-like quality I wrote about earlier.
However if I change the sequence compressor to regular ProRes and render, it displays sharp as it should but still has the bad interlacing. The plasma I'm monitoring with can't display 108030p though so I'm judging this from an apple cinema display.
Exporting from this timeline to 108060i ProRes has the same problem.
Do you think it's possible the characters in the cartoon move too great a distance between frames that it's causing this issue?
    Thanks
