Animation timeline menu

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS5 (I know, it's a BIG jump).
Anyway, a friend showed me how to import video and draw on the quicktime for a job I am working on. However, the timeline doesn't look the same, and I can't find any menu choices to change it. I just have the animation frames the same as I did in CS2 instead of the timeline.
(My friend is out sick today and unreachable, and I am on a deadline now)
Mac OSX 10.5.8
I'd like this:

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok, now I'm feeling a bit ignorant.
I can't find an icon on the bottom right other than link layers, create mask, create layer, delete layer, create group, etc.
Here's what I got:
The menu along the top of the animation window is this:
And Panel Options, of course, just changes the size of the thumbnails.
I'm going to feel foolish when someone points out what I am missing, but for the life of me, I can't find it.

  • In the Animation Timeline panel menu "create frames from layers" is not showing.

I am watching a tutorial on basic animation and when it gets to the point where they say to open the "Animation Timeline Panel Menu" the panel that opens for me is not the same one in the tutorial.  I am supposed to click on "create frames from layers" but that is not an option.  I'm confused as to why my panel is not the same as the one in the tutorial.

It could be that you are using a different version of photoshop. Some of the older versions were split into two versions a standard version and an extended version, in most of those versions, it was required to have the extended version to use video editing features.
Perhaps you could tell us what version of photoshop you have and what operating system.

  • All "timeline" menu options are greyed out in my copy of

All "timeline" menu options appear greyed out in my version of Dreamweaver 8. I've tried deleting the cache file and the configuration folder, but without success. There was originaslly some reference to a Javascript error message reference timeline(), since when I've ensured my Java was updated. Any ideas please?

For some reason, the Link > Framemaker document option was also greyed out when I created the project.  I had been having trouble with the .xpj file not being created by RH11 and reinstalled TCS5/RH11.  Then I created the project and was able to find and open the .xpj file.  Like I said, I found then that the  Link > Framemaker document option was greyed out and could only import the FM book.
I recreated another project and see that the Link >   Framemaker document option is greyed out.  I can only use Link > Word document, which is of no use to me.  Any suggestions would be welcome!

  • Photoshop CC 2014 3D positioning in video animation timeline

I'm a mac user and experimenting with the 3D and video timeline features. All I am trying to do is make a small custom shaped logo spin in place although it starts to spin around an axis that is off camera. My instructor at school did the exact same process that I've been doing on her computer, and it worked flawlessly which leads me to believe there is a snap, pin, or setting that my computer has turned on/off. I have found the 'Edit Pins' option in the View tab but I have not been able to select it as it is grayed out. Is that where the answer to my problem is? If not then where? The object that i am trying to rotate in this situation will move from the origin point whenever i try to apply a transformation of any kind, such as rotating, scaling, and moving.
There is a similar problem that i have found on this forum, Photoshop CC 2014: 3D Scene Position Missing - Video Animation Timeline is the title of it although it has not been answered. This question was posted about the same time of my problems started as well. After a good amount of hours I haven't found anything close to an answer.

I don't do 3D animations, but Seb Zaremba said it worked in the former Photoshop CC. You can have both version installed on your computer. Go to the Creative Cloud app and Apps>Filter & version>previous versions. There you will find the installer for CC (2013). Give it a try.

  • Photoshop CC 2014: 3D Scene Position Missing - Video Animation Timeline

The 3D Scene Position line in the video animation timeline - missing in 2014.2.1 (CC 2014 up-to-date) ... I have tried all the posted work arounds; using 3D Meshes but the movement from center problem is still present... the answer provided in other posts about this being moved to the Scene group is entirely unhelpful. The 3D Camera post saying it was just renamed is not correct this does not rotate the object. What is the answer or the problem, is there a solution within Photoshop CC?

  • Blurred preview image when dragging playhead in Animation Timeline

    Hi,
when I move the playhead (of the Animation Timeline) by hand back and forth, the image get's blurred untill I stop dragging. This is really annoying since I need to draw and animate some small shapes in pixel perfect manner and can't see the difference between the frames because of the blurred image.
It is not blurred when I use the "Go to Next Frame" buttons in the timeline window, but this is cumbersome as I have to quickly compare frames by going back and forth.
I understand that PS probably gives me a compressed version of the images so it can actually play the animation fast, but I am talking about a hand full of frames in low resolution (1000x1000) on a Macbook Pro Retina with 16 GB RAM!
My Performance setting are all up (90% RAM allocated to PS, enough free space on my SSD Hard Drive). I also tried different settings for the History and Cache.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Marek

OK, I found out the reason I wasn't hearing the sound when dragging the playhead was due to the fact that in the properties for the sound I had the Sync set
to Event, but I needed to set it to Stream.  Then it works fine!

  • Access Edge animation timeline in iframe

I'm sure there's a way to do this easily, but I'm new to javascript. How can I access the animation timeline inside an iFrame? For example, if I want a button on a page to play the timeline from a label in an Edge animation in an iframe.
    Any ideas?

Here is a example .Click the button to play movie in iframe
In this I get access to  composition using the iframe's contentwindow api and call play movie.

  • CS5 Animation Timeline problems (display/graphics glitches)

In CS5 12.0.5 x64 I use the Animation Timeline to create frame by frame animations and most of the time it works fine. However recently I am encountering a problem with the display. The problems seem to happen whenever I make a selection with the lasso and do a Free Transform (it especially doesn't like rotations). The 'marching ants' along with the entire display seems to freeze up and not respond. Clicking other layers will not change the 'frozen' image until I make a stroke with the tablet or mouse, then the image refreshes to the new selected layer, but stays frozen in the same way, and so on. The animation in the timeline will not playback through the frames/layers once this happens and I have to restart the program. Then the bug happens again as soon as I make another free transform. It doesn't seem to affect all my files, only certain ones where I use the Animation Timeline.
I have an i7 processor with 12gb of ram and an EVGA Geforce GTX 560 Ti with the latest drivers. I have OpenGL turned off and have deleted my preferences.
Here are my performance settings (this may be the problem?):
    I Let Photoshop Use 6319 MB (58%)
    My History States are 65
    Cache Levels are 4
    Cache Tile Size is 128K
    Scratch Disk is just C:\

It kind of sounds like a memory or video driver issue. What resolution is your document set at?
Mylenium is correct. When creating frame based animation each frame is linked to a layer. So to animate the motion of the selected portion it needs to be on new layers as it moves (each time you rotate or move, create a new layer. The smaller the increment the more layers needed, but will produce a smoother longer animation). The stationary portion(s) don't need to be on new layers because they are not moving and can be seen due to the transparent areas around the selection.
    I hope that  makes sense.

  • Rotating in the animation timeline?

Im haveing trouble rotating from a defined achorpoint in the animation timeline. To explain what im talking about imagine a switchblad knife, after i set the keyframe start and end point and use the transformation tool to position it and then click play the knife blade will rotate completely off the handle before ending in its open posistion. I can not find any way to set and anchor point so that the one end of the blade stays attached to the handle and the others ends spins open from that point. Ive tried useing the anchor point in the transformation tool and its spins percectly into place, but then when i play it back the rotate position is gone and both ends are in motion. Help please!

Hmm sorry, I'm not sure I'm getting it totally. Please let me explain exactly what I have.
I have an FLA file, containing one single MovieClip. This MovieClip is called "AppleMC" in my library, and has no linkage name (obviously). In this MovieClip, I have 60 frames in my timeline which contain the various steps of a complete rotation of the apple.
If I load the corresponding SWF file, I can then add it to the stage. But everything I tried to get a definition of the "AppleMC" element, or the whole SWF file as a MovieClip too, I only simply get an empty MovieClip class. I suppose that's why Linkage Names were designed for: defining a class of an object and its contents, not just its type.
If I'm using GetDefinitionByName on an instance of the stage, I only get the type of the object, not its contents. I can't believe nobody had this issue before, because creating multiple instances of an external SWF file on a stage seems pretty common.
It seems a lot of people are missing the duplicateMovieClip() instruction of AS2, and the various solutions I tried didn't work well (some suggest binary duplication of the contents, others are duplicating each member separately...)

  • Animated DVD Menu?

I'm curious as to how I can make an animated/motion DVD menu? Like having a video clip running and THEN the menu options (play, audio, chapters) show up after the background video plays? Thanks!
    GC

You need to make your menu footage so that you get the animation and then fade in your menu background. Keep this still for as long as you like, but no less than 30 seconds so the user has time to make a choice.
Take a still image from the timeline into photoshop and set it as a background layer. Use this as a guide to create button highlights in a new layer. Hide the background and export the highlights as a pict image.
Take your footage and highlight image into DVDSP and drag the footage into a menu, set it as the background. Drag the image in and set it as the overlay. In the property inspector for the menu set the loop point marker at a position just after the still footage starts in your menu background. This is where the overlay will start.
You can treat the menu as you would any other, set the button targets and organise the button navigation. When you play the menu the animation will play first, followed by the static section where the buttons will be available. At the end of the footage the menu will loop back to the loop point marker and play from there. You'll get a slight pause as this looping takes place, which is why it's a good idea to give the static section enough time for your viewers to make a choice, so they don't get to see the loop take place.

  • Photoshop cs6 animation/timeline help

I am trying to learn how to do a small animation. I have Timeline window open at bottom of screen but do not understand how to get images into the space. Everything is grayed out. I have read the Adobe tutorial but nothing really says how to place keyframes into the timeline space. I watched a YouTube video but it started with there already being an image there and then they showed how to copy and change it so an animation could be achieved.
Could someone tell me the first steps, from the beginning, to get things set up right and have something to adjust and set times to ,etc.
I have spent awhile now playing with it and decided to ask for help.
    Thank you!

Each object must be on its own layer.
For this example lets create a shape pick any of the shapes in the tool bar, just make sure you are using shapes which is found in the top tool bar.
Click the create video time line in the animation panel, this should create a timeline for each layer.
Before each layer in the timeline panel is an arrow, click on it to twirl it down.
Lets use position for an example. Location the word Vector Mask Position for that object and click on the stopwatch
Move the timeline head along the timeline to a new time (any new time will be fine for this example, just make sure its more than 15 frames just so its slow enough to see moving. {This will also depend on the distants traveled in the next step})
With the move tool selected (lowercase v - keyboard shortcut)  Drag the shape elsewhere on the document. This will create the end keyframe.
Just below the frames in the animation panel is a slider at the beginning and the end of the entire animation. Dragging the little gray box at either end adjusts the start and end work area. Drag the end work area box towards to the end keyframe. This will stop the animation when the shape stops moving. You will see it snap at that keyframe.
Hit the space bar to play your animation. If done correctly you will see your shape move across the document.
Your animation panel should look similar to the attachment. Don't worry about getting the same end timeframe as mine, as it is only an example.

  • How do you rotate an object in the Photoshop CC Animation Timeline now that "3D Object Position" no longer exists?

I am attempting to animate the rotation of an object using Photoshop CC Animation.  However, unlike in previous versions where there was a "3D Object Position" layer on the Timeline that one would keyframe to change an objects position within the scene; the sublayer "3D Object Position" does not exist in CC.  I have attempted to change an objects rotation by keyframing the "Position" sublayer resulting in no change what so ever.  I have attempted to change an objects rotation by keyframing the "3D Meshes" sublayer resulting in the object rotating clear off the scene and not following the coordinates that I type in.  This is very frustrating since something like this use to be so easy!!  How do I animate the rotation of an object using Photoshop CC?!

Which version of CC and have you install the updates?
