Animations Missing in Keynote 09

Can someone explain why Apple would remove the FALL animation from Keynote 09.
I used this very frequently. I think they have replaced it with FLOP

In the General Preferences, there is an option to "Include obsolete animations in choices". Checking that will have all the old animations (that have ever shipped with Keynote) show up.

  • Transparent Animated Gif in Keynote 9

    Hello,
    I have been trying to insert some of my transparent animated gif in Keynote 9 with zero success. I have checked that the background of the file was actually transparent - it is - and I have attempted to use the Alpha tool - not working with gif images. Should I give up completely?
    Previous posts on the subject have not provided any solution so I would immensly appreciate any further suggestion on this!
    Thanks!

    You just need transparency in your file. Not sure if it has to be pre-multiplied. In graphic converter you need to remove the backgrounds. Haven't used GC in years so can't say how you can be sure it's gone but in Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects you can choose to have a checkerboard background to tell you when you are seeing 'thru' the image and by how much (the overall opacity or mask of the whole image if that doesn't confuse the issue).
    If you are using PS images they will almost certainly generated with a set of rectangles including a perimeter cropping box and white background and these need to go either before it's bitmapped in a vector base app or the relevant pixels erased after it has been bit mapped in GC. As previously mentioned, if you have a unique bkgd colour, colour selecting/keying are some ways to do this). Much faster for >10 images to generate the plots without the bkgd but this may not be possible, what software is source material coming from?
    I regularly bring in vector based moving art-work into keynote with alpha from Adobe AE, Apple Quartz and rendered .mov files. Some codecs (H.264) don't support a separate alpha channel (RGBA) but PNG (slow to render) and animation and a bunch of others do. Pre-multiplying removes the A channel in the RGBA (by multiplying the R/G/B by the A values) thereby speeding and making compatible with some GPUs/render pipelines.

  • Many Keynote 2 transition missing in Keynote 3

    I recently upgraded to iWork'06 and am now very dissapointed to discover that some of my favorite transition effects from Keynote 2 are not included in Keynote 3. Missing 2D transitions are Drop, Falling Tiles, Grid, Motion Dissolve, and twirl - all really great transitions - except for maybe twirl. Missing 3D transition is Burn. I thought '06 was a 'new and improved' proposition to iWork'05 users- not 'it's about even - once you figure in everything we took out'. I mean, does something have to be deleted for anything new added. What else is missing? I'm upset. Does anyone know how to restore these transitions? I still own iWork '05 and it's still loaded on my computer. I could start a keynote in '05 and then continue in '06 - I think - but that would be really irksome.
    Com'on Apple - Its about value add, not value subtract.

    Cadillac88,
    you can in fact "restore" the transitions:
    Go to Keynote's Preferences and set the check mark at "Include obsolete animations in choices". That's all.
    If this information is useful to you, please mark it as "helpful" or "solved" using the little buttons in the titlebar of this message. Thank you.

  • Re: Many Keynote 2 transition missing in Keynote 3

    I saw a note out there that talked about many of the kenote transition missing in 06 that where in 05 and the solution was to include obsolete animations in the preferences. Question is if I dont have the old version of 05 will I still be able to see the old trnasitions?

    You're saying that in Keynote 3 you went into the prefs and checked the box for turning back on the old effects and they're not showing up? In no way is Keynote 2 required to get those back, they're built into K3, just turn on the pref and they're back. If they're not showing up then your app is hosed or something.

  • Animated gifs in keynote for iPad

    I realized, in Excel 2011 (Mac) a ppt with links "simple" and I want to incorporate animated GIFs (or videos).
    Everything works smoothly on Power Point, however, upon transfer of the Ipad and opening files  with Keynote my animated gifs are no longer... animated!
    Even if I try to incorporate these gifs directly on the iPad does not work better.
    You know how I can fix my problem?
    If the gifs can not be borne any video format to use when it is necessary that during the transition from 2011 to ppt Keynote everything works?
    In advance thank you
    Yo.

    Great solution James. As a former university level instructor, it must mean that you're old and out of touch. Gifs are an amazing new form of communication if used correctly. I too am searching for a solution for the same problem as ytomasz.
    An"amazing new form of communication"? SERIOUSLY? Animated gifs are as old as the hills and came into being as a stop gap prior to other means of providing web based animation and video became practical. They are strictly amateur hour and are quite unprofessional. Perhaps you could do with a little communication training.

  • Presenter Display Options Are Missing in Keynote 6?

    I upgraded to Mavericks / Keynote 6 yesterday.
    I have a dual monitor setup on my iMac27, and today when I'm trying to play a keynote presentation, it displays on the wrong monitor.
    I seem to be unable to switch it to my primary monitor, because the "Presenter Display Options" tab (under preferences) that was present in the previous version is alltogether missing.
    Anyone else have this issue, and a work-around?
    Where are the "Presenter Display Options"?
    Thanks, JB

    Hi, everyone.
    I, too, have encountered the same problem the first time I fired up Keynote to an external projector.  After trying out all the suggestions posted here, I stumbled upon a simple remedy.
    1.  Ensure that the "Enable Presenter Display" checkbox is ticked under the "Slideshow" preferences tab of Keynote.  I believe this is enabled by default.
    2.  Then right click the "Keynote" icon at the dock, and under "Options," assign to "None" or "All Desktops."
    I found that this enabled Keynote to present my slides in the exact same way as the previous Keynote version did.  Whether assigning it to "None" or "All Desktops" makes any difference or not, I cannot tell, but both options work. I hope this helps.

  • OS 10.9.4 Startup animation missing

    Hello,
    in order to spare some HD space in /private/var/folders I did a safe startup. After that procedure the animation right before the login screen during the startup procedure is missing. I know the issue is more cosmetic than serious but the bug gets on my nerves everytime I turn on the machine.
    I did:
    PRAM reset
    SMC reset
    sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
    sudo kextcache -system-caches
    and restored the old contents of /System/Library/Extensions/IOGraphicsFamily.kext/ from TimeMachine-bkp before I did the safe start
    Apple tech support doesn't know...
    Can anybody help me?

    MacBook Air 13'' (2014)
    1,4 GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Intel HD Graphics 5000

    solved it myself.
    the issue is probably due to the deletion of cached items during the safe boot procedure. it was caused by the switch of the default screen resolution to my altered lower screen resolution (because the screen is so small) during startup. obviously safe boot deleted the cached altered resolution setting.
    if you just change back to normal screen resolution (in system prefs), then restart and once again set to your desired lower resolution, the login animation comes back.

  • HT1338 updating missing files keynote

    After updating to mountain lion, keynote will not open because "files that Iworks needs are missing".  Software update does not detect an upgrade,  Going to the apple website and downloaded files will not open because files from third party or others can't be installed due to my security settings (which I cant find).  How do I get my keynote to run.  I have an off site presentation tomorow that I am flying to Vegas to give.

    3. Completely remove / uninstall the current version of iTunes and QuickTime from your system.....
    3a. – Do a Stepwise clean uninstallation of iTunes

    8. Reboot the PC
    9. Turn off all security software such as Norton, McAfee, SpySweepers, any TSRs, etc. (exit via the system tray)
    10. First completely download, then run the latest iTunes Installer from your PC
    11. Reboot the PC
    The majority of problems out there on the discussion boards are caused by viruses or other system corruption — sometimes self-inflicted by the user (i.e. - people who turn off necessary Windows services) — or out of date drivers. You may want to consider this if your PC falls into one of these categories.

  • Can I use an animated GIF with Keynote 6.0?

    I'd like to loop the animation of an animated GIF in my keynote presentation.
    Used to be possible with the Quicktime inspector...
    Is this possible in Keynote 6.0 ?
    Cheers, Juergen

    Easy work-around is to rename your file with .mov extention (I used myanimatedimg.gif.mov), drag the file from finder and Keynote now thinks its a movie. You now have the movie controls on the right which all work perfectly for your annimated gif!

  • Startup Animations Missing

    A few weeks ago I noticed that I no longer get the startup animations on my 27" 2009 iMac.
    When I start up I am suppose to get the grey screen with the Apple Logo and spinning wheel, which should transition to a white screen with the Apple logo, then the Apple logo should slide up as the user avatar, password box and linen background fade in for the password screen.
    What I get now is the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning wheel, which abruptly jumps the the fully materialized linen password screen.  All the pretty animations in between have vanished.
    I have tried zapping the PRAM and resetting the SMC, turning off/on password screen, reinstalling Lion overtop, installing Lion on a separate partition, disk repair, and nothing gets my startup animations back.  My MBP still gets all the fancy animations.
    Is anyone else seeing this or have any great ideas?

    Hello Elzlaik,
    Thank you for letting the Apple Community know about this good news. I was anticipating that Apple would resolve the issue with Mountain Lion.  They did work close with me on the issue for several weeks and although some of the engineers were trying to say that the animation was "missing" simply because my MacBook Air 13" was loading the screen too fast for my eyes to see it, I was very insulted, but later I spoke to another support rep who assured me that the missing animation problem at startup would be resolved. I plan to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Best regards,
    David

  • Images missing in Keynote 08

    I have often had this problem - in previous versions of Keynote - where a file would open up with a warning that various image files could not be found, even though they had never been moved from their original location. This entailed reloading them into the presentation. Today I opened a file with 50+ slides, each containing an image; the file opened without a warning and with all the thumbnails displaying on the left as they should, but none of the slides actually showed an image. I opened up the file in the Finder via 'show package contents' and all of the pictures are in there (png files), so why won't Keynote show them? I do not want to have to reload fifty picture files!

    The issue has not been solved by the 4.0.2 update.

  • Animations missing when published in Captivate 6

    I have Captivate 6.
    Imported 4 animations (Flash swf) on different slides.
    When published, one might appear - the others are not there. Return to the prior slide that displayed the animation only to see that it is gone as well.
    I've done this in the projects and this did not occur.
    The only difference is the file is bigger (over 20 slides w/4 imported animations that range from 3-20 frames each in Flash).
    Is there a fix?

  • Keynote 3: Transparent Animated GIF Problems

    I've been trying to get an animated GIF with a transparent background to run in Keynote, but it's giving some disastrous results.
    I produce the animation by rendering the frames as PNG (with alpha channel) in MegaPOV 1.2.1. Then I use the convert utility from ImageMagick 6.2.9 to make them into an animated GIF.
    When I drop the animated GIF into Keynote 3.0.2, the first frame shows fine (with transparency and all). But when I animate it, the background goes red (the main color in this particular movie) and some trace of the previous frames stays. It seems like:
    1. Rather than displaying the GIF frame-by-frame, each frame is getting layered onto the previous frames.
    2. Keynote doesn't like the alpha channel for some reason.
    Problem 1 is also present if I open the GIF in Preview (is that supposed to be the correct behavior of an animated GIF?). Problem 2 seems to be Keynote-specific.
    Any suggestions for a work-around on this? The animated GIFs work fine if rendered without the alpha channel, but it'd look so much better with transparency!
    iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    MegaPOV doesn't have a GIF output option. The choices are PNG, Targa, PPM, and hdr (not familiar with that last one). I don't know if PPM even has alpha-capability.
    So in some way, I have to convert PNG to GIF. The tools I have to do this are ImageMagick and Gimp. I tried them both, then viewed the results using several programs. Results are tabulated below -- (1) means that problem 1 from above was apparent (ie, parts of the previous frames were visible under the current frame); (2) means that problem 2 was visible (ie, the transparent parts took on some background color).
    If I didn't know how to change the default white background in the program, I couldn't tell whether problem (2) occurred, since the movie made with Gimp had a white background in Keynote.
    Using ImageMagick 6.2.9 to convert PNG->GIF and animate GIF:
    * viewing with Safari 2.0.4 : (1), can't tell for (2)
    * viewing with Preview 3.0.9 : (1), can't tell for (2)
    * viewing with Firefox 2.0.0.3 : (1)
    * viewing with Keynote 3.0.2 : (1), (2) -- alpha goes red
    Using Gimp 2.2.11 to convert PNG->GIF and animate GIF:
    * viewing with Safari : (1), can't tell for (2)
    * viewing with Preview : (1), can't tell for (2)
    * viewing with Firefox : (1)
    * viewing with Keynote : (1), (2) -- alpha goes white
    I only converted the first few frames using Gimp, since I was doing it by hand.
    All of this makes me wonder whether I'm dreaming the impossible, since problem (1) is universally present. It also makes me pretty sure that problem (2) is Keynote-specific.
    If there are any other tools that will convert/animate GIFs on a modern Mac, I'd love to hear about them. My UNIX-y tools seem to be failing me here. The Mac tools I remember from "back in the day" -- GIFBuilder and GIFConverter -- seem to have been abandoned around the beginning of Mac OS X. GIFBuilder won't even load my files, and GIFConverter still lacks alpha support in PNG.
