  • The version 0000000075 of development configuration is now available

    Hi experts,
    when im loging into nwdi im getting pop up with below message , can u please explain what is the verison 0000000075 and why is it asking for that..
    The version 0000000075 of development configuration is now available
    Do you want to update the development Configuration ?
    Regards
    Govardan Raj

    Hi Govardan,
    a track has a server side development config (created as per the domain data settings and track data settings i.e. includes cbs, dtr, cms url, sld nameserver and the software component dependencies).
    It is an XML file you can check in CMS webui -- Track Data -- Build variants -- display development config.
    If you create a devconfig in your NWDS, then this XML file is getting synced to your local space (this is the file called .confdef).
    After this no more sync is getting done, but the locally stored .confdef is used by the devconfig, so it knows, which cms, dtr, cbs , sld to contact, etc. in other words: how to use the track.
    If you change on the server side devconfig (by changing on say cbs, dtr or sld url or SC dependency setup) then NWDS recognizes that its locally stored .confdef became outdated.
    This is why you have that popup that the server side devconf version XY is now available and you can make the locally stored one up to date.
    I hope this answers your question.
    Best Regards,
    Ervin

  • Windows 8 Consumer Preview Downloads Now Available

    For those of you interested in getting an early handle on what Windows 8 has in store, Microsoft has made the much anticipated Consumer Preview version available today...  Note that this is free, "beta" level software, and WILL expire, so don't expect to just download and use it forever.  Ultimately they're going to charge $$$ for it.
    Main page:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/consumer-preview
    ISO images available:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso
    Windows 8 Server available to Technet subscribers:  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/securedownloads/hh442904
    I'm in the process of downloading ISO images now, and will be setting up VMware virtual machines in which to test the various versions.  I will be interested to see how Photoshop works with it (it mostly worked with the Windows 8 Developer Preview version, with just a few glitches).
    Note that these downloads are all quite huge (multiple gigabytes).

    Generally speaking, Microsoft seems to be trying to bridge the "touch screen tablet" market with the "desktop computer" market, all in the name of opening up their own shiny new App Store.  I don't know whether they're going to pull it off, but Apple has become a world economic power with theirs.  It's almost scary to think what Microsoft will be able to do with theirs.  Sounds like opportunity knocking for Windows developers.
    The Windows 8 Metro Start screen, complete with its flat, styleless tiles, has replaced the Start Menu in Windows 8, and there's no Start button at all.  I give it a month at most before someone like Ivo Beltchev, who created the Windows 7 add-on "ClassicShell" package, creates software to restore a workalike to the Windows 7 menu.  I've tried the current version of ClassicShell already with the Windows 8 developer preview and it doesn't seem to run, though I haven't gone to the ClassicShell forums to see whether there's a workaround.
    But using the Win key to pop over to the Metro Start screen, which is the start menu replacement, all the functionality is still there, and there are some advantages.  For example, a number of known bugs in Windows Explorer have been fixed, and they've integrated ribbons into Explorer in a way that actually makes some sense.  So far everything I've tried to run has worked - I get the impression either compatibility was very high on their list, or they haven't done much to the "traditional" APIs.
    Oh, and they've integrated their own anti-malware solution, so there will be no more need for 3rd party packages.
    Interestingly to me, after half a day of testing and getting used to it (and having run the Windows 8 Developer Preview before that for months), the whole Windows 8 system so far feels lighter and more efficient that Windows 7.  There are fewer processes running, they seem to take up less memory, and just a lot of things seem more polished.
    I'm guessing there's just enough "gee whiz" here to make even people who are relatively happy with Windows 7 want to upgrade.

    Tony,
    I "think" the easiest way to get PDF output at a cheap price is going to be PL/PDF (http://plpdf.com). It looks like it costs $500, and I don't see any other software requirements, since it works with mod_plsql.
    The coccon and other "stuff" is free, but I don't know how difficult it is to get setup and running. I'm also not sure how much leeway you get in designing your output.
    Since PL/PDF is generated by code you write with PL/SQL packages, I imagine that you can get some pretty customized output that would exactly fit your needs.
    When I first heard Apex 3.0 would allow PDF output, I was hoping that there was some kind of unannounced deal where Oracle had bought the company and was going to include the PL/PDF packages as some of their "standard" packages, like DBMS_OUTPUT.
    At least since they haven't done it yet, there may still be some hope that maybe someday they will, but then I don't see where that would really benefit the BI Publisher market, though I no idea how big that market is. It seems like quite a few Oracle shops aren't budgeted enough to get into that "niche", it's usually hard enough paying for the products already licensed.

  • Can´t Download JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3) - Developer Preview J2EE Edition

    I tried to download for two days. The link seems to be wrong.
    Is there another way to download full version?
    Thanks.
    César

    Try the link again - it should do a redirect to one of our download servers (I get download-west.oracle.com for example).
    We had reports from some people that had problems initially and then it worked for them.
    Also note that if you are an Oracle employee working behind the Oracle firewall you need to get the file from the internal jdeveloper.us.oracle.com site.

  • Cannot download JDev  10g (10.1.3) - Developer Preview

    I go through all the pages : login / privacy / yara...yara...yara and on:

    I try to click on

    but nothing happens even if I try to save link as....
    I'm on RH9 with firefox 1.0.
    Any ideas ?
    Jano

    I'am having exactly the same problem. Both in IE and with Firefox 1.0.
    In IE, i get a "page cannot be displayed" message.
    Firefox opens an empty window and does nothing.
    The weird part is that i keep receiving "Thank you for your interest" messages from oracle, but no JDeveloper at all.
    Ideas?

  • New OC4J 10g (10.1.3.1) Developer Preview now available for download!

    A Developer Preview of the new OC4J 10g (10.1.3.1) release is now available for download.
    This developer preview release is fully J2EE 1.4 compatible and offers numerous enhancments, including full support for the final EJB 3.0/JPA specifications and Common Annotations (JSR-250) support in the Web container. It also provides a complete Web Services stack with support of JAX-RPC, annotations based development using JSR-181, and attachment support including MIME, DIME and MTOM with support of streaming for large documents.
    See http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/10131/index.html for details.

    I've tried http://localhost:8888, but I get a "connection refused."
    I have since found the answer. The site http://localhost:8888/ will indeed work. The problem was that the java_home for oc4j was pointing to a Java Runtime Edition of 1.5.0, and so oc4j was not starting, since oc4j only works with 1.4.x.
    Still have the missing info from the readme, though.

    Don't know if there are similar bug reports, I searched this forum for "10.1.3" but the search page stays like that for ~2 minutes, then stops without showing anything.

    Hello Frank,
    Thank you for your suggestion. I tried that and I got the same error. Looked more careful at it:
    Exception java.io.IOException: /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc: cannot execute
    I tried to execute it manually:
    $ l /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc

    bash: /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc: Permission denied
    Did
    $ chmod a+x /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc
    which solved the execution. Now Hello word works.
    I got jdeveloper as a .zip archive, which doesn't keep unix permissions. The Linux distribution should be in .tgz archive, it would have avoided this problem.
    Thanks!

  • Oracle JHeadstart 10g release 9.0.5.1 now available!

    All,
    Oracle JHeadstart 10g Release 9.0.5.1 is now available. More than a month ago Oracle released Oracle JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1). This new JHeadstart release is certified against both JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 and 9.0.5.2. You can now benefit the strong combination of the new versions of Oracle JDeveloper and JHeadstart.
    What is Oracle JHeadstart?
    JHeadstart is a development tool kit, fully integrated with JDeveloper, that enables rapid component based development of J2EE applications using the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern. It provides customers with 4GL-like productivity without jeopardizing the flexibility and openness of the J2EE architecture. In addition it includes a bridge from Oracle Designer that enables customers to generate fully functioning J2EE applications from Oracle Designer or to migrate Oracle Forms to J2EE.
    What is new in this release?
    In addition to the certification mentioned above this release includes the following new features:
    - Support for Oracle TopLink, adding extra flexibility.
    - A Tutorial that describes and a demo application that shows how to use JHeadstart in conjunction with TopLink based on multiple project experiences.
    - Links from the Applications Structure File editor to both the BC4J property editor as well as the JHeadstart Application Generator which streamlines the development process.
    - Pop-lists for regions and domains to prevent typing errors
    - Generation of regions in JSP pages
    - Fixes, for a complete list of fixes please refer to the release notes.
    Where to download?
    This maintenance release can be downloaded from the supplement option portal ( http://cso.oracle.com/ ) for customers that hold a supplement option license. It will be available for evaluation purposes on OTN later on.
    Where to go for more information?
    For more information go to the JHeadstart Product Center on OTN http://otn.oracle.com/consulting/9iServices/JHeadstart2.html.

  • OC4j Developer Preview problem with JDBC

    I'm running the developer preview of OC4J (9.0.4) and trying to get a connection to SQL Server 2000 for my CMP 2.0 entity beans.
    I have a setup and configuration that works on Orion 2.0, but when I moved it over to OC4J it no longer worked. I get an error
    SQL error: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    I checked my data-sources.xml file to make sure the syntax was OK and the driver url and properties were correct (they worked on Orion so they should be), and they looked OK.
    This fails both with the JSQLConnect driver and with the recommended DataDirect driver. For the latter my data-sources.xml entry looks like:
    <data-source
    class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
    name="MSSQL"
    schema="database-schemas/ms-sql.xml"
    location="jdbc/foo"
    xa-location="jdbc/foo"
    ejb-location="jdbc/foo"
    connection-driver="com.ddtek.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
    url="jdbc:sqlserver://localhost;DatabaseName=foo;User=foouser;Password=foo"
    username="foouser"
    password="foo"
    max-connections="5"
    min-connections="2"
    inactivity-timeout="30"
    />
    The same URL works fine using DataDirect's JDBC Test utility.
    I can't find anything useful in any of the OC4J logs and have basically run out of options to get OC4J working.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Alan

    Hi Steve
    I had the JDBC driver jars in j2ee/home/lib (with pointers via <library> tags in server.xml).
    The j2ee/home/applib directory didn't exist so I created it and copied the driver files there but alas it didn't help. (I also modified the appropriate <library> tags in server.xml but that didn't help.) I still get the same error.
    When I removed the JDBC driver jars altogether then I did get an additional error:
    Error initializing data-source 'jdbc/foo': DriverManagerDataSource driver 'com.ddtek.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' not found.
    So it looks like the underlying problem is not inability to load the jars.
