As the subject indicates, I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to use AppleScript or Automator to launch the Mac App Store and download any available updates on a set schedule.
I would advise against this. Updates sometimes reduce functionality or break programs. I would never get an update with working software unless there is a specific problem you are trying to solve.
I have read many desperate posts from people trying to go back to earlier versions for various reasons. This is easy to do with disk-based software, but with downloaded software, going backward can be more difficult. -

Has anybody tried multiple stages app dev?
The main stage manages the life-cycle of several secondary stages. Meanwhile, each secondary stage has an independent UI.Currently, I'm working on a desktop investigation-like app where the user starts from the main stage, and then creates new stages to process individual investigation. Meanwhile, she's free to jump between stages. If interested, I'll keep you posted on how JFX handles this approach.

IOS apps are too cheap. Apple needs to help make app dev more sustainable
First let me say that I am a user, not a dev (at least not an app dev).
According to

90% of apps on app store are free. Avg price for iPad app is 50c, for iPhone app is 19c. The situation is even worse for android. Something ridiculous like 6c.
It's a wonder anyone is still in business. This doesn't seem sustainable, unless you have a hit or you target a professional/enthusiast niche, how do you make money. There can't be that much money in ads.
We have a race to the bottom and users have gotten used to the idea that everything should be free or nearly free.
I am guilty of this myself. I'll pick the free app with ads if given a choice, and may upgrade if the ads get too annoying and i use the app often.
I'll usually pay one or two dollars without thinking much. Four or five dollars and i have to think a bit. above five I have to think hard.
There are a couple of things Apple can do to improve the situation for everyone.
1) create a built in trial system. Have a Try it button. After the user has used ithe app X amt of time iOS will ask if they want to buy. Yes, their account is charged, no the app is deleted. The app dev can specify whether they want to allow the Try button and the amt of time they think would allow the avg user to adequately try the app.
When I first got my iPad, I downloaded a bunch of PDF readers; some free, some cost a few bucks. I ended up buying about $20 worth of apps before getting the one I wanted.
A free trial system will hopefully encourage people to pay prices they may otherwise balk at. If you have a good app, you have a better a chance at making a sale if your users can test it out first. The system is also upfront and honest. You don't download something for "free" and find it crippled IR nonfunctional until you make an IAP.
Of course once a trial system is in place, there'll be tremendous pressure on all devs to use it for all apps. This may not be a good thing.
2) upgrade pricing.
This is desperately needed. I bought filebrowser way back when for 99c and since then it's been updated tremendously, but I haven't paid any more for it. Seems a bit unfair.
Devs are in the uncomfortable position of either giving a way a lot of effort for free if they stay with free updates, or alienate people who recently bought their app by creating a new version.
In addition, retain at least one major old version so people who are satisfied can stay with it, or downgrade if the new version breaks something or changes something they don't like.
All this adds complexity to the system. But hey, that's what good design skills are for, right? Any average company can make simple stuff simple.Don't tell us (we're users just like you).

Xml schema different between Dev and QA
The XML schemas are different between our DEV and QA systems after applying XI stack 13/SRM stack 10. It may be that they were different before applying the stacks but it has only been spotted in testing. We need to find out why before we live with the SP stack into production.
We have re-applied the XI content tpz files to both the DEV and QA servers and can't see any differences between in the design time repository apart from between the generated XML schemas:
A simple example of the difference is included below. The difference
only seem to be in the SRM Server 5.5 content and seems to be to do with the hierarchies in the header declaration with xmlns:p0="http://sap.com/xi/SRM/Basis/Global" being in a different position in Dev than in QA. I have raised an OSS message but have been waiting for 2 1/2 days now for a response and we are due to go live with the patching in a weeks time. Any help steering me in the right direction would be most appreciated.

What's the easiest way to move app data and data structures to a server?
Hi guys,
I've been developing my app locally with Apex 4.2 and Oracle 11g XE on Windows 7. It's getting close to the time to move the app to an Oracle Apex server. I imagine Export/Import is the way to move the app. But what about the app tables and data (those tables/data like "customer" and "account" created specifically for the app)? I've been using a data modeling tool, so I can run a DDL script to create the data structures on the server. What is the easiest way to move the app data to the server? Is there a way to move both structures and data in one process?

KimThere's probably another way to get here, but, in SQL Developer, on the tree navigation, expand the objects down to your table, right click, then click EXPORT.. there you will see all the options. This is a tedious process and it sucks IMO, but yeah, it works. It sucks mostly because 1) it's one table at a time, 2) if your data model is robust and has constraints, and sequences and triggers, then you'll have to disable them all for the insert, and hope that you can re-enable constraints, etc without a glitch (good luck, unless you have only a handful of tables)
I prefer using the oracle command line EXP to export an entire schema, then on the target server I use IMP to import the schema. That way, it's near exact. This makes life messy if you develop more than one application in a single schema, and I've felt that pain -- however -- it's a whole lot easier to drop tables and other objects than it is to create them! (thus, even if the process of EXP/IMP moved more than you wanted to "move".. just blow away what you don't want on the target after the fact..)
You could use oracle's datapump method too.
Alternatively, what can be done, IF you have access to both servers from your SQL developer instance (or if you can tnsping them both already from the command line, you can use SQL*PLUS), is run a script that will identify your apex apps' objects (usually by prefix to object names, like EBA_PROJ_%, etc) and do all the manual work for you. I've created a script that does exactly this so that I can move data from dev to prod servers over a dblink. It's tricky because of the order that must be executed to disable constraints and then re-enable them, and of course, trickier if you don't consistently prefix ALL of your "application objects"... (tables, views, triggers, sequences, functions, procs, indexes, etc) -

In Control Panel, turn off Vaio Content Folder Watcher and VAIO Content Metadata Intelligent Analyzing Manager.

Sony has issued upgrades for some models, check you Sony download site to see if there is one available.
I would check the work around first.
If that's not it, try temporarily disabling you continuous backup to see if that is the cause. -
Weblogic 8.1 App Server and IBM MQ Series 5.2 Issue
Hi All,
I am trying to create a bridge between Weblogic 8.1 App Server and IBM MQ Series 5.2 and i am facing issues.
Bridge works fine if i use QualityOfService="Atmost-once" and i am getting following error when i use
QualityOfService="Duplicate-okay".

It is weird that nothing shows up in the log after you turned on the debug.
Actually I knew somebody has run into the same problem once.
The problem disappeared after he did something on the MQSeries side (like
restart the system and something else). I did not know exactly what he did.
I am not sure if that will help you but worth trying.
If that does work either, I'd suggest that you contact the BEA Customer Support
and somebody will look at it for you in depth.
