"Designing with CSS is sometimes like barreling down a
crumbling
mountain road at 90 miles per hour secure in the knowledge
that repairs
are scheduled for next Tuesday... Other times it can be
downright cool."

Well I had the same thought when I tried your demos (very
nice looking
BTW) but I guess it's not a problem for the majority of
people. Anyway
since you announce it on this NG I guess you're also
interested in
feedback too.

  • ANNC: Deja Vu Automated CSS Page Pack for Accordion Panel Magic

Deja Vu captures the clean and simple approach to design that
    has gone into
our web sites for many years. In fact, we're sure you'll find
    Deja Vu very
    familiar.
Deja Vu comes with 5 page designs. Layouts are CSS-based,
    fixed-width, and
centered. Pages are automatically created using the PVII Page
    Pack interface
    inside Dreamweaver.
Navigation menus are powered by the latest version of
    Accordion Panel Magic
(required), which automatically highlights the current page
    link and expands
    the panel that contains it.
You'll learn how multi-column layouts can be designed in
    Fireworks and how
Fireworks is used to develop the CSS that makes your columns
    render with
equal heights. It's mathematically precise yet clear and easy
    to
understand - and kind of fun if you're a designer just
    getting into CSS.
Deja Vu comes with a comprehensive User Guide and free
    technical support.
    Additional features:
    Works in Dreamweaver Templates
    Search engine friendly

This link is pointing to a form processing script on what appears to be your local hard drive (F:drive).
    <form method="post" action="file:///F|/Coastal%20Auctions%20Website%20Live%2012_09_2009/register_a ction.cfm"
It should be pointing to the script in your Local Site Folder.
    <form method="post" action="register_a ction.cfm"
Are you working within a Defined Local Site in DW?  Without this critical first step, DW cannot properly manage site links & assets for you.
Another bit of advice.  Don't use spaces in folder & filenames.  This will create problems for you later.  You may use underscores_ or hyphens- between words but no special characters or spaces.

  • Docs say they need a 'newer version' even though I have the latest Pages 5 release?

I have several documents that I created in the latest version of Pages 5 (version 5.0 (1465)). Last week, they were all working fine in Pages 5 and were saved to that format. Now, when I go to open any of the documents, I get an alert message that the document can't be opened because I need a "newer version" of Pages to access them. I have gone to the App Store to check for updates; I'm at the latest release.
Just for fun, I tried opening in iOS versions (no success) and even opening in copies of the old Pages '09 apps. Nothing works now. I'm also sure it's not a corrupt file issue, since this is occurring today on multiple Pages files.
What happened, and how can I get my documents to open again? I spent a lot of time getting these docs perfect, and I am desparate not to start over from scratch.
    Thanks for any advice!
PS: This problem is occurring even after I deleted all old iWork / Pages apps from the disk, so that's not the problem. I had seen that as a recommendation for previous upgrade cycles.

    Please clarify....

  • Help with purchasing new Mac Book Pro- 2014 release vs. 2013?

OK, so my 15" 2008 Mac Book Pro is on its last gasp--didn't help when I dropped it while open (I can now see into its innards though it's still working...sort of).
I'm not a technophile (mainly use my laptop for writing--my profession--and eBay business) so my sister told me to make sure that I had at least 8 GB and a fast processing speed. Retina display not necessary (her graphic artists friends hate it apparently) so that would lower the price; however it seems that there are two releases: Oct 2013 and July 2014.  Read up on the latest release but not sure how much is necessary for to have...or care about.
Can you all weigh in and tell me (a) how important it is to have "the latest and greatest" and (b) how necessary is Retina display and (c) which would YOU purchase if you had my budget constraints.  Thanks!
Anyway, I've narrowed down my choices of MacBook Pro purchases to what was within my budget: $1300 including tax.  I wanted a 15" but it was too much $$$$, plus I can just use an external monitor.
Both are available at Apple. Both come with 1 year and 3-year extended warranties and both have the standard software installed, including Pages.
One more thing....Wondering if having Flash Storage is important?  Only refurbished one (see below) has it.
Prices for both end up being almost the same--around $1250 out the door, including tax.
OPTION #1  NEW LAPTOP. July 2014 Release   NON RETINA DISPLAY
2.5GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
    4GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x2GB - NOTE: I WOULD HAVE THIS UPGRADED TO 8 MG
    500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
    Accessory Kit
OPTION #2   REFURBISHED  -Oct. 14 Release - RETINA DISPLAY
13.3-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2560-by-1600 resolution at 227 pixels per inch
    8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
    256GB Flash Storage1
    720p FaceTime HD camera
    Intel Iris Graphics

Hmm... I'm not really sure where you found a July 2014 release without a retina display. I think it might be the old version because that laptop was last updated in 2012 (to my understanding. Also, your sister is kind of wrong, if you want a computer that will work well for everyday things, 4gb of ram is just fine. I have a three year old MacBook Air with 4gb of ram and do things in Photoshop, Illustrator, Pixelmator, FCP, etc. all the time running OS X Yosemite and it runs like brand new. However, if you want to future proof it, you might want 8gb so it can always run the latest OSes.
Flash Storage is amazingly fast compared to a Hard Drive. It also has no moving parts, therefore is much more durable, and much more likely to survive a drop than a Hard Drive (which would seem to be useful in your situation).
Also, I don't know why your sister's friends would hate the Retina display. Many people love it because it gives them the ability to edit pixel by pixel with perfect accuracy.
I would go for the Retina display. It has better specs for the same price so why not? Not to mention that it's much faster and will likely receive updates much longer than the new MacBook Pro without Retina display.
    I hope I helped.
    Austin

  • Why does the new "share this page" button not stay deleted?

Two issues with the latest two releases (35.0 and the one before)...
    1. The new "share this page" button (with the paper airplane icon) reappears everytime FF is started -- even though I have removed it from the toolbar. How can I make stay gone?
    2. The new info bar at the screen bottom "FF automatically sends some data..." is always present when FF starts -- even though I have completed the "choose what I share" Option. How do I permanently remove this?

  • Similar css pages displaying differently

I have been building some pages using a css, which produces the effect I want. In particular how the footer is pushed down by the length of the sidebar on the left.
Then I created some pages with a css using a sidebar on the right, yet the footer is not being pushed down by this sidebar.
I am new to css and dreamweaver and have scoured the code to find what is different (what is working on the first css and not on the second).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

You make mention of a 'right' side bar that you added - in Firefox, I don't see any sidebar at all.  In FFox, viewing the page you said was 'wrong', the footer is sitting at the bottom of the page as it does in the 'correct' version of the page you mention...... so your question is a little confusing  :-)

  • CSS page confusion

I am new to CSS and Dreamweaver. I have created a CSS page
that is text only. However, I wish to have the CSS page deliver a
standard page with a header division, navigation bar division, left
bar division and footer division. I want every new page that I
create to have those divisions with all the links in them so I can
just concentrate on adding the body text that will change from page
to page. I thought that the CSS page would do all that, but I
cannot get it to work. Is there a way to get these divisions to
automatically come up on a new page that i might create?
    Vic
I am using Windows Xp and Dreamweaver CS3.

    > I thought that the CSS page would do all that, but I

    > it to work. Is there a way to get these divisions to

    > on a
    > new page that i might create?
You are confusing CSS with DW Templates and perhaps
    Server-side includes.
CSS will have the ability to place every page element on any
    page that
contains, or links to that CSS, but CSS does not have the
    ability to create
    such pages from nothing.
So, the scheme would be, you create a page using the CSS
    required to style
everything properly, and then you either save that page as a
    DW Template, or
you cut out the important bits and save them as server-side
    includes.
If you used Templates, then you would spawn a new page from
    the Template,
add the unique content, and save the page. Repeat this
    process for each
    page in the site.
If you used server-side includes, then you would save your
    parent page that
has assembled the includes to deliver the layout you want,
    with some generic
filename. With that generic page open, you would add your
    page-specific
content, and save it with that page's name. Then replace the
    page-specific
content with different content, and save it with the new
    page's name.
Repeat that process for all the pages in the site.
Get it? CSS doesn't create the pages, however if you create a
    page with the
elements in it that are referenced by your CSS Selectors, it
    will style that
    page as you wish.
