ANNC: divaPOPgold

For Dreamweaver users, we've just released an enhanced
version of
divaPOP, called divaPOPgold.
In addition to divaPOP's ability to open external website and
pdf links
in a standards-compliant popup window, divaPOPgold also
offers
a) the ability to open *images* in nicely styled popups that
can have
*captions*, can be sized to automatically hug the
image/caption or be
any fixed size you wish, and can be centered on the screen or
positioned
where you wish. The popup window can also be customized
however you'd
like, with your own background images, banners, logos,
footers, etc.
There is even a setting for click-to-close the popup when the
image is
clicked.
b) the ability to open *any* file type, even html files, Word
docs, pdf
docs, whatever, in a popup window. You can instruct
divaPOPgold to open
specific files by filetype or by location, so for example you
could tell
it to open all files in the help/ folder, or even by a
substring, for
example "map" will open all files that contain "map" in their
filepath/filename.
c) works with links in imagemaps too!
And of course it is still Search Engine friendly,
webstandards compliant
and degrades gracefully when javascript is disabled so users
can reach
the linked files in a standard browser window. And it still
requires
*no* special class or rel attributes, nor any other "hooks,"
to be added
to each link. Simply add divaPOPgold to the page (or put it
in an
include file!) and bingo, it scans the page, or any
designated portions
of the page, for links to work on.

  • ANNC: divaFreeTools: a Free  Dreamweaver Extension

I've just uploaded a new, free DW Extension that is actually
    an array of
seven Utilities. Murray - #4 is the one you asked for. If
    anyone has
need for another utility, email me!
    Hope you find them useful.
    Available here:
    http://divahtml.com/products/divaFreeTools/free_dreamweaver_tools.php
    The tools are:
    1) Set spacer image Alt attributes to alt=""
Finds all (gif) spacer images and adds an empty alt tag. So
    <img src="shim.gif"/>
    becomes
    <img src="shim.gif" alt=""/>
This is useful to hide these meaningless images from Screen
Readers, (and to help your page pass HTML Validation.)
    2) Set (non-spacer) image Alt attributes
Finds all non-spacer images (with options to display those
    that
have no alt attribute and/or have a blank alt, and/or have a
    existing
alt value), and adds alt values of your choice (or removes
    the alt
attribute entirely.) Titles too. You can edit the list of
    spacer image
filenames that divaTools will look for.
    3) Set tag Titles
Finds any html tag you request (with options to display
    those that
have no title attribute and/or have a blank title, and/or
    have a
existing title value), and add title values of your choice
    (or remove
    the title attribute entirely.)
    4) Dreamweaver's OpenBrowserWindow
Copies the filename that would open in a popup to the link's
    href. So
    <a href="#" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('Z.htm')">
    becomes
    <a href="Z.htm" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('Z.htm');return
    false)">
And then optionally removes the behavior, leaving:
    <a href="Z.htm">.
Now you can use divaPOPgold or divaPOP on the page!
    5) Valley Web Design's JustSo PictureWindow3
Same as above for JustSo PictureWindow3 behaviors.
    6) Adjust gallery width in JustSo PhotoAlbum3 tables
Ever wanted to change the number of columns in a JustSo
    PhotoAlbum
gallery table? Instead of recreating the whole thing, now you
    can use
this quick and easy tool to instantly modify the number of
    table columns.
    7) Convert Library --> Server Side Include Statements
To ease one of the steps in ridding your site of DW Library
    items,
    <!-- #BeginLibraryItem "/Library/Z.lbi" -->
<p>This is in an .lbi file</p>
    <!-- #EndLibraryItem -->
becomes, depending your selection of ApacheSSI, ASP or PHP
    <!--#include virtual="/Library/Z.htm" -->
    or
    <?php
    include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/Library/Z.htm');?>

  • ANNC: divaPOP

    With target="_blank"
deprecated for Strict DTDs, many of us have been using
    javascript to
open popup windows. To make this dramatically easier to do,
    we are now
offering a new, low-priced, Dreamweaver Extension: divaPOP.
divaPOP will open standards-compliant popup windows by
    automatically
adding onclick event scripting to your page's links to
    external websites
and to pdf files, with no need to add any "hooks" at all. And
    of course
there are various options for customization.
    http://divahtml.com/products/divaPOP/open_popup_windows.php
    Hope you find it useful.

  • ANNC: Slide Show Magic

    http://www.projectseven.com/products/galleries/ssm/
    Leaps beyond the ordinary...
Efficient code and buttery smooth animations make for a truly
    engaging
user experience. Slide Shows and individual images can be
    bookmarked and
all images can be viewed - even if JavaScript is disabled.
    Search Engine Friendly
Unlike many of today's Flash and AJAX applications, Slide
    Show Magic
markup is always fully visible and indexable by leading
    search engines.
    Auto-Choreographed Animation
Slide Show Magic detects the size of each incoming full-size
    image. If
it's the same size as the current image, the system will
    employ a smooth
cross-fader - simultaneously fading out the current image as
    the new one
fades in. If the incoming image is a different size than the
    current
one, the system will fade out the current image, glide the
    image
container to the size of the incoming image, then fade the
    new image in.
    It's all automatic.
    Staged preloader
When the slide show is running in automatic mode, the system
    will
preload the next image as the current one is being shown,
    providing a
    seamless experience in most cases.
    Intuitive toolbar controls
The on-page toolbar contains conventional media controls:
    First,
Previous, Play, Pause, Next, and Last buttons. It also
    contains a slider
bar that allows users to adjust the slide show timing, plus
    buttons to
toggle visibility of the thumbnail display and navigation
    menu, and an
    image counter.
    Drag-enabled thumbnail panel
The Thumbnail panel can be dragged about the screen, enabling
    users to
fine-tune the interface for best viewing of the show.
    Full-Size images can be hyperlinks
Each full-size image can optionally be set as a hyperlink to
    another
page, programmed to open in a new window or tab.
    Image descriptions
Each full-size image can display an optional description,
    which can
contain any type of valid markup (paragraphs, tables, DIVs,
    lists,
    links, or images).
    Automated image processing with Fireworks...
Web-ready images are automatically produced from your
    original images,
which can be located on any drive connected to your computer
    - including
drives mounted by your digital camera. Slide Show Magic
    handles all
image processing automatically - preserving your original
    files in their
original locations in their original and unaltered states.
    Your images
are scaled, optimized, and neatly organized into folders
    within your
    defined site.
    Import your existing images...
Point to a folder (or folders) that contain your existing
    full-size and
thumbnail image and Slide Show Magic will match them up and
    add them to
your slide show - unaltered and ready to view.
    Organize Images into sets
Slide Show Magic enables you to define logical image sets and
    organizes
the thumbnail panel into navigable sets.
    Mix landscape and portrait orientations
Your images are never distorted in any way. Original aspect
    ratios are
always preserved. Use both landscape and portrait images in
    the same
    slide show.
Deploy alone or inside existing layouts
Slide Show Magic can be inserted on a page by itself or
    inside an
    existing page.
    Select from 6 Themes
Select a dark toolbar, a light toolbar, shadow boxes (in 3
    sizes), or an
image rotator interface. Style themes can even be switched
    for existing
    slide shows.
Manage it all inside a dedicated Dreamweaver Interface
    Add (append) new images
    Delete images or re-order them
Manage Descriptions, links, and ALT text
Edit existing full-size or Thumbnail images
Reprocess all of your slide show's images
And lots more, including a comprehensive manual and free tech
    support.

Since many Captivate authors also use RoboHelp, you will also
want to meet the new Adobe RoboHelp Product Manager, Dhiren Jani in

    Dear Adobe,
You have been great in keeping us up to date with all of PP's features. Having come over from Apple this open communication is a breath of fresh air.
Last year about this time we started seeing posts about the new CS6. May we please have the same this year about CS7? It was a big help to have some info before arriving at NAB.
I can't wait to visit your booth and get recharged with all your great products.
    Most Sincerely,

While I can't say anything about upcoming releases, here's a technology "sneak peek" video we just released for After Effects.
    Nothing yet for Premiere Pro.

  • ANNC: divaLINK - convert text into links, automatically

I am happy to announce the release of a new Extension for
    Dreamweaver:
divaLINK. Using unobtrusive javascripting, it will convert
    plain text
urls to hyperlinks, and (optionally) plain text email
    addresses to
mailto: links, all on-the-fly in the browser.
I foresee two main applications for divaLINK:
    1) Your client supplies you with pages of content which
    contain plain
text urls and email addresses, and naturally wants them all
    linked.
You've been doing this tedious task manually for years.
    Haven't we all?
    2) Your pages are dynamically driven (i.e. the content is
    supplied by a
database) and you'd like the urls and email addresses within
    it to be
real links. Up until now there was no way to accomplish this
    on the
    server side.
In addition to the automatic linking, options are offered to:
    * add a subject to the mailto: link
    * replace the visible email address with boilerplate text
    * add "rel=nofollow" to the created <a> tag
    * insert <wbr> tags to allow conditional wrapping of
    long urls and
    email addresses
I do hope you find it useful.

  • [ANNC] SiteGrinder 2.0 Released.

I wanted to let everyone know that SiteGrinder 2.0 has been
    released.
    http://www.medialab.com/sitegrinder
SiteGrinder is a plug-in for Photoshop that converts layered
    Photoshop
designs to working web sites. It can be used as a standalone
    tool, but it
is also a great tool to use in conjunction with DreamWeaver.
I'm sure that everyone who follows this forum has had to work
    with a
Photoshop source file from a designer at one time or another.
    And as we
all know, slicing into tables via ImageReady is ill advised.
    The
alternative, copying and pasting by hand, is only reasonably
    feasible if
the design isn't aggressive. Furthermore, it's a waste of
    precious
manpower - why spend all the time re-creating in DreamWeaver
    what someone
else has already created in Photoshop?
This is where SiteGrinder comes in. It seamlessly converts
    Photoshop
designs to working web pages and does so quickly.
The new 2.0 version has two editions, Basic and Pro. Here is
    an
    incomplete list of features:
    - layers are named with hints (like -button) to denote
    functionality. The
    rest is automatic
    - text buttons with custom rollovers
    - graphic buttons and rollovers (done with CSS, no
    javascript, uses one
graphic file so no preload issues)
    - hierarchical drop down menus (made from individual buttons
    or just
    extracted from single text layers)
    - controllable compression
    - multiple page output (uses Photoshop layercomps to define
    individual
    pages)
    - hyperlinks in text
    - scrolling text
And now in the Pro edition only:
    - support for full featured image galleries - no more using
    canned
templates. Design your gallery page in Photoshop. I could
    write a page
about galleries alone. Thumbnails, scrolling sheets of
    thumbnails, image
metadata incorportated directly into page text, everything
    you want is
    supported.
    - creation of Flash slideshows
    - forms (yes, you define them in Photoshop). SiteGrinder
    will write out
for you the PHP code needed for a PHP email form. CGI mail
    and generic
    forms also supported.
    - vertically growing document. - You can now have page size
    based on
    content.
    - importing of external media like Flash and QuickTime
    - importing of external HTML (with link remapping, CSS
    support and more)
    - late binding to external HTML via PHP require() or
    <object> tags.
    - background tiles
SiteGrinder 2.0 is much faster than SiteGrinder 1, it is more
    streamlined,
it writes out better HTML and CSS, and gives you a lot more
    control over
its output. We, the SiteGrinder development team, are very
    concerned about
compliance to web standards, accessibility and other best
    practices and as
much as we are able we've made SiteGrinder do things the
    "right" way, even
if that is the hard way.
Allright, I've written too much as it is. Check out
    SiteGrinder, feel free
    to ask any questions.
