    Please forgive me.  I have not figured out how to use this forum very well.  I have a similar problem.  I have a trial version of Lightroom 3 already.  I have signed up for Photoshop CC etc. 
      It includes Lightroom and several other piece of software.  Lightroom 5 will not install.  I was successful at downloading and installing Photoshop CC and Bridge CC.  As I said Lightroom did not install.  The Adobe Applications Manager shows "Installation Failed".  I did retry and got the same error.  The error is

    I am running a Mac.  The OS is Snow Leopard.  Is there any other information that I can provide that might help?  In about May of 2011 I changed from Windows to Mac.  At that time Adobe provided me with a trial copy of Lightroom which I installed and did not really ever use.

  • Can I visit Adobe Headquarters?

    I live in England but will be visiting the States next month and am for just one day in San Jose. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to visit Adobe Headquarters? I don't have any specific business or particular reason to go there other than that as a Premiere and Adobe user and lover I'm curious and wonder if there's anything interesting to see. But would I even get as far as being allowed to Park unless I had a legitimate business reason for being there? Can anybody shed any light on this? Many thanks.

    If you do go, just realize that the lines for the rides get long in the summer.  So make sure you get a “Fast Pass”, for front of the line privileges.

  • Adobe story stuck at "ST STORY" and is not loading

    I am trying to use adobe story free for the first time.  Joined adobe cloud.  Uploaded latest flash.  Cleared all cash.
    can load in, but when hit get started the screen has "ST ADOBE STORY" and a orange bar like it is loading, but does nothing else.
    one post suggested trying a different browser, I was using chrome.  I use IE, and it immediately went to the same place.  it skipped join, sign in .....

    - First update the flash player plugin ( http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer )
      and then make sure that your browser is able to display flash content. To check this you can visit this site: Adobe - Flash Player
      Here you should be able to observe the 'Version Information' box.
    Now visit Adobe Story again in the browser and login.
    The 'St Adobe Story' animation page is a place-holder page while browser is downloading the Adobe Story application in the background. (application is of nearly 3 MB in size)
    - If you are still stuck on that page after few minutes then you can try the following to make sure that this is not an issue related to cache/cookies.
       - Open New Private Browsing Window of the browser ( In Chrome the option is 'New Incognito Window' )
       - Visit Adobe Story in that window, login and wait few minutes for application to load.
       - If you are able to login in this window then please clear your browser's cache and cookies (How do I clear my web browser's cache, cookies, and history?)
    - If it is still stuck, then please try to update your browser. ( or may be install a new browser, say firefox, and try on that one )

  • My updates are failing.  Adobe application manager may be damaged.  I have downloaded and installed a new copy and the problem persists.   Please help.

    I am trying to update Photoshop CS6 in order to read my camera's RAW files.  It is a camera that is supported by Adobe Photoshop CS6.  However, when I try to get the Adobe Application Manager to update the software, it fails to do so.  (The spinning wheel tells me it is checking for updates and then quits, saying that "Update Failed - Updates could not be applied.  Adobe Application Manager may be damaged.  Download and install a new copy of Adobe Application Manager.")
    I have tried to reinstall the Adobe Application Manager 8.0, which gives me the following error message "We've encountered the following issues.  Installer failed to initialize.  Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."  However, when I go to the link provided to download the Adobe Support Advisor, this piece of software NO LONGER EXISTS. "

    So, I have gone to the forums and took the recommended step to update my software manually - getting the update Photoshop_CS6_13_0_6upd-2.dmg.  However, this update also fails stating that my Adobe Application Manager may be damages.  Download and install a new copy of Adobe Application Manager.  Which puts me right back where I started.  
    I have also taken the step of completely reinstalling Photoshop CS6.  This did not solve the problems outlined above.

  • Creating 508 Adobe Acrobat Accessible Docs from various sources and formats

    Note: I have no 508 training, except for perusing of documents on the web.
    I need to create searchable 508 Compliance report documents for Adobe Acrobat (not for the web at this time) from merged PDF files. 
    To create these reports, I do not have originals, all I have been given are PDFs, some of which have been created from Word and others scanned (some with OCR and some not).  Some of the reports are converted directly from Word but may also be a combination of electronic and scanned pages (signature pages, graphics, appendices, etc.)  Often the scanned pages have not been scanned to actual letter size (8.5 x. 11), but are smaller.  Sometimes they are larger or A4.
    In preparing the final report, I take all of the PDFs and merge them into one document.
    I add watermarks and headers/footers to the whole document. 
    In order to get all of the watermarks and headers/footers to align on the page with ease, I need all of the pages to be the standard letter size of 8.5 x 11 without losing any information.
    The only way I can figure out how to achieve this is to take the pages (usually scanned pages) that need to be enlarged (sometimes reduced) and Print to a PDF. 
    This will create a new PDF of the existing PDF; making it the standard letter size of 8.5 x 11, without cropping.
    I can then replace the odd-sized pages with the new PDF pages, creating a document where all of the pages are now the standard letter size of 8.5 x 11.
    Once my document is all the same size, I can add my watermarks and header/footers.
    I still need to make the whole document a searchable 508 Adobe Acrobat compliant document.
    I believe I need to run the OCR Text Recognition to convert/capture scanned pages and pictures to make this document a searchable 508 Adobe Acrobat compliant document.
    I tried running the OCR text recognition on the current merged (160 pages) PDF document (before adding my watermarks, headers/footers) to capture the scanned text, and I receive the following errors:
            This page contains renderable text.
            This page has graphics other than images or text on it. It cannot be captured.
    When I ran the Adobe Acrobat Accessibility checker, I get the following errors:
           The first page is a scanned signature page: the error says
    1 image with no alternate text
                1 element(s) that are not contained within the structure tree.
    1.     Inaccessible page content
         Most of the remaining detailed report errors are:

    I tested one page and used the Touch Up Reading Order tool and added alternate text to a signature block, ran the accessibility checker again, but still came back with alternate text errors.

    This isn't an "error". Acrobat's OCR cannot process  PDF page content that is not exclusively an image.

    When properly tagged, an image or graphic in a PDF is identified by the PDF element "Figure"
    (<Figure>).
    All Figures shall have an Alternate Text Description.
    You may have images/graphics that are tagged as Figures but should be Artifacts.
    OCR - The hidden layer of OCR output provided by Searchable Image or Searchable Image (Exact)
    is, for practicable purposes, not something one can effectively created Tagged PDF from.
    Prior to Acrobat 9 one would use Formatted Text and Graphics. With Acrobat 9 one would use
    ClearScan. Alternatively, one might just re-key the content in an authoring application and output Tagged, accessible PDF.
    Watermarks & Header/Footers -
    Oh boy; well, once you have everything else in a "green board" line up you'd add these and manually
    "fold" them into the structure tree via proper tagging.
    So, the first step is to gain at least a fundamental understanding of what an Accessible PDF is and
    how to create it. Then you'd want to become familiar with Section 508 1194.22.
    As each of the paragraphs are correlated to WCAG 1.0, you'll want to review it to understand what
    the correlation is and how it relates to PDF.
    However, Section 508 will be changing.
    The Draft Updated Standards and Guidelines are on the street.
    The window for public comment closed a few weeks ago.
    PDF - What it is: An ISO Standard (ISO 32000-1:2008)
    Obtain a free version of this ISO Standard to study what "Tagged" PDF is (Accessibiity is just one facility associated with Tagged PDF).

  • Problems displaying a pdf correctly (both with preview and adobe reader)

    Hey guys,
    I've been having problems with displaying lecture notes (pdf files) correctly. It doesn't matter if I use preview or adobe reader.
    Can anyone please help me out?

    Hi there,
    I have a very similar problem: a number of pdf files that I can see perfectly well in Safari/GoogleChrome do NOT show correctly in Preview or ANY iPad app I have (Notability, Adobe, PDF Expertm iAnnotate, Dropbox etc.).
    The problem is that punctuation -- with the expection of periods or bolded text -- does not show properly. For example, commas and quotation marks to not show, and some numbers to not show.
    Moreover, once I have annotated/viewed the problematic file on the IPad and resync to dropbox to view on Mac vis Adobe (which I do with most pdf files with no problems), I get an error message upon reopening the pdf file saying "Cannot extract the embedded font 'FAFWQV+--unknown-2--'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." (the 'quoted' text changes each time). When opening in Preview, no error message appears, though the fole is still lacking punctuation etc.

    NB: the file is in Mandarin, however I can successfully open/edit/annotate/sync other pdfs using Mandarin font so I'm not sure if the language is related to the problem.

    I received an e-mail this morning from Evernote saying that my Adobe e-mail was on a list published of compromised Adobe accounts.  I am wondering what type of information may be compromised and what actions I should take other than just changing my Adobe password. Is there any more information out there?

    I'd be suspicious of the email. Why would evernote email you, rather than Adobe?
    But it's true that passwords were stolen. You SHOULD visit Adobe's web site and change your password. I suspect you've already done that to post this message.
    You SHOULD NOT click on any link in this mail OR ANY OTHER that says to click to change account settings/password.

  • After buying Adobe Premiere from the cloud, installation by (Adobe service), my InDesign CS6 quits on startup. Need help, Adobe doesn't want to fix this.

    If you buy a cloud application while you have a totally legal Creative Suite Premium 6 it might stop working. Adobe made the installation by taking control of my computer. The girl did not seemed totally well trained... my opinion and right after that my InDesign stopped working!!! Now my If I call to get help they send you here because they don't want to spend money fixing that problem. So, I wonder if it's a good idea  to buy a new application from the cloud if you already are a good customer. It's probably safer to buy other CS6 or CS5 versions if you already have some. Otherwise you might be stuck to buy the entire package through the cloud even if you don't need the last versions. To solved my problem, I erased the applications with all the preferences on the second time around, reinstalled everything and InDesign still quits on startup. I have the same setup at home but this one does work.

    yes, I did that with helping message 3, I'd remove Cs6 only, but it did not help. The message "Failed to initialize the setup program. To identify the problem, download the program Adobe Support Advisor" repeat again =(

    Not to hijack your thread but when is CS4 coming out?
    No one here will know that answer, either. It's pretty safe to say though since CS3 just came out a few months ago, I wouldn't expect to see CS4 for at least another year.

  • Adobe flash player keeps crashing every few weeks?

    Every few days to weeks adobe flash player crashes I will try update adobe and fire fox but tnothing works or I already have the lastest versions. Sometimes it down hours, sometimes a week. Then it goes away and happesn starts all over agin in a few days to weeks. Here are the last 5 crash reports.

    Caution: Adobe's download page may include a checkbox for optional software (such as Google Chrome or McAfee Security Scan) that is selected by default. If you do not clear the checkbox before downloading, that software will be installed on your computer when you open the Flash installer.
    When the download has finished, close Firefox.
    Click the menu button New Fx Menu and then click Exit Close 29
    Open the Flash installer file you downloaded and follow the instructions.
    Note: If you are having problems with the Flash installer from Adobe's download page, you can use this Flash Player installer link to directly download the full installer.
    Uninstalling Flash
    For instructions on uninstalling Flash, see Adobe's help page, Uninstall Flash Player - Windows
    Note: Running Adobe's uninstaller will remove Flash from all browsers where it is not built-in, including Internet Explorer. You will be prompted to reinstall Flash when you visit a page that requires it, such as Adobe's Test Page.
    Troubleshooting
    Flash plugin not working
    If Adobe's Test Page does not show that Flash is working even though you have installed the latest version, your Flash plugin may be disabled. To make sure that Flash is enabled,
    Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
    In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Plugins panel.
    If the Flash plugin is disabled, select Always Activate in its drop-down menu.
    Flash works in Internet Explorer or Chrome but not in Firefox
    There are three different types of Flash Players: an ActiveX version for Internet Explorer, a Chrome version built-in the browser and a plugin version for Firefox and some other browsers. If you want Flash to work in Firefox you must install the plugin version, as explained above.
    The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed
    If you see this message instead of Flash content, see Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again.
    Unresponsive plugin warning
    Firefox will show you a warning dialog if the Flash plugin is taking longer then expected:

    Cannot view full screen Flash videos

    Playing Flash videos makes Firefox hang
    If Firefox stops responding or if the Flash plugin hangs or stops working when playing Flash videos or games, try these solutions:
    Pause or stop Flash in other tabs. You may need to close those tabs.
    Update Flash. See the Updating Flash section above for instructions.
    Disable hardware acceleration in Flash using these steps:
    Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
    Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page, then click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
    Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.

    Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    Restart Firefox.
    Update your graphics drivers. See Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL for details.
    Other Flash problems and solutions
    Your Flash issue could be caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration in Firefox. See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems to narrow down the cause.
    Other solutions for general audio and video problems are listed in the Fix common audio and video issues article.
    If Flash content does not work, acts strangely, causes errors, or if you see a notice that you need to update Flash (for instance, at Mozilla's Plugin Check) even after installing the latest Flash version, uninstall and reinstall Flash.

  • Adobe Website ID issue

    Hi,
    I have an Adobe website issue I would like to raise.
    When i visit Adobe ID (accounts.abode.com) using Safari or Firefox the fields autofill with my previous email address and the field instantly becomes locked - I am unable to delete it to enter my actual adobe ID address. I don't think this is a browser autofill issue - what actually happens is that I get redirected several times when i hit the site.
    This issue doesn't happen if I use Chrome - but I should be able to log in to my actual Adobe account using any browser, so that i can manage my account.

  • InDesign CS6 quits on startup after buying Adobe Premiere from the cloud. Need help, Adobe will not.

    I bought all the versions of creative suite over the years and now just bought Adobe Premiere from the cloud. From that moment my InDesign CS6 quits on start up and they tell me that they cannot support me on the phone and to go F myself. I erased everything, even the preferences, reinstalled it and still have the same problem. Do you think this is a marketing trap, buy a new one and we will make sure that you have to change everything? Help, I can't work anymore.
