Annotating a protected PDF with comments allowed - how?

Hello
I have a protected PDF that you can't copy from but which you commenting is allowed in. I can comment (add sticky notes and highlight) with no problem in Adobe Reader on a PC but in the Adobe Reader for iPad App the annotation features are still not allowed. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and think I have chosen all of the correct settings (because it works on the PC in Adobe Reader). How do enable the annotations for this document in Adobe Reader for iPad? Can I?
Any help will be very gratefully received
Thank you

Hi Shradha,
We really..really hope that the fixes to enable annotation will be provided asap because we had a lot of feedbacks from our users that had been embarked with the LiveCycle policy protected file had requested to have the annotation feature. Even the annotation tool is now available in the adobe reader mobile but the tool cannot be used for protected file with LiveCycle policy. Quite disappointed response by our users on the unavailable feature for annotation.
Please let us know when we could expect the fixes to be provided and we could tell the good news to our valuable users.

  • PDF with comments crashing, using InDesign CS3

I'm using OS10.6 and switching back and forth between Acrobat Pro 9.3.4 and InDesign CS3 5.0.4.  I have Firefox running too, as well as Bridge and Word.
The PDF was originally made by me.  I email it to my client and she adds comments using her Windows PC - I don't know any more details.  She then Saves As and emails back to me.
I then open the PDF with comments and start to work through them, making amendments in InDesign, and then marking the comment with a checkmark.  The PDF seems to randomly crash - sometimes it will work fine for a while, sometimes it just won't and crashes each time I open it.  As a result of this random crashing, I'm saving after every comment I process to keep track of what comments I've done.  (EDIT) Sometimes after the crash none of the comments are checked, despite me checking them and saving the file.  V frustrating and time consuming.
    Any ideas??  Thanks.

There is a feature in interactive PDF called Show/Hide fields which may or may not give you what you want. You can create a button of an image or other object which will make another object (button) appear. Do a Google search on "Show Hide Field InDesign Tutorial"

Well it is difficult to understand your question so little information, and with an apparent language problem, but you can can Save As to the pdf format.  If you have any text layers, do _not_ flatten before exporting.  Use a High Quality Print preset in the PDF dialog box, unless file size is critical.
If I have misunderstood your question, please give a lot more information, including what version of Photoshop.  You can use your own language if that is easier, and we'll use the forum Translate feature, but the more information you put in your post, the better chance of it being understood.

  • Unable to open a protected PDF with Adobe Reader

    Hi Guys,
I'm trying to understand how LC Righs Management works. So what i'm doing is following:
    1. Protecting a PDF with a specific preconfigured right in my policy server by using Acrobat Pro.
    2. Trying to open same fine in Adobe Reader gives me "An error occured while performing thsi operation. Contact an Administrator if this proplem continues".
Same file can be opend in acrobat pro without any problems.
My certificate is installed. (port is 8443)
Any ideas why ADobe Reader faisl to read a protected PDF?
    Thnx!

    Hi Steve,
Yes, SSL is trusted. If it's not strusted, i getting a different message from teh ADobe Reader which actually is reffering to the SSL problem.
Also if SSL is not trusted, file can't be opend in Acrobat Pro. IN my case, file can be opened in ACrobat X Pro but not in Adobe Reader.
Maybe i can check for some log files on the server side for this? (or client if there are any?)

How can I send the file without the comments will be distorted ?
    with thanks,

I'm assuming you were the one who placed comments into the PDF file that you send from your ipad. What application did you use to create the comments?

  • How do I create a password protected pdf with watermark?

I need to put a watermark on a pdf and have it password protected.  I'm using Adobe Acrobat X Pro. Got any tips?

    1. Tools->Pages->Watermark
    2. Tools->Protection->Encrypt->Encrypt with Password.
3.Save As (or Save if it's OK to overwrite the original PDF).

  • What's the best way to save a .pdf with comments?

I really like the comment features in Acrobat X, but I'm a little stuck on what "Save As" function is the best for .pdfs. For example, I also use the GoodReader App quite a bit on my phone, and I've noticed that they have an option to "flatten" the markups on a file. When exporting the markings will open up just fine in any .pdf reader. I really like that system, but most of the time I need to use my laptop for the keyboard.
With Acrobat X some markups are consistent (mainly the drawing ones), but the annotation ones are not as easy to figure out.
So, what do you guys recommend for which format is best for saving. Essentially, I plan to grade student essays with markup and then e-mail the files back (or, if it is not too time consuming, upload them in GoogleDocs and then share the link). Either way, I'm looking for the best overall way to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I use stamps and text boxes most often. Occasionally I use the text-editing tools in the comments area, but they really don't save well when I flatten the file. Occasionally, I'll add a file to pdf when I need to extensively comment on a certain area of the pdf. Depending upon the comment I'll either use a text file (my preferred choice), an rtf, or pdf.

  • Save a PDF with Comments from Mail to an XServe Loses Comments

    Hello,
I can't find anyone out there with this problem and we just started seeing this as of a few days ago.
We have Adobe Acrobat PDFs that have comments and other market embedded into the file for review mailed to us as an attachment.
The user runs on OS X 10.4 with the latest updates from Apple using Apple Mail (IMAP setup).
When she saves the PDF to her desktop, and opens the file, everything shows just fine, she can view all of the comments with no problem.
However, when she saves the same file to our 10.5.7 XServe (with permissions wide open), she comments are lost and cannot be recovered.
Anyone else seen this? Have an explanation? Fix?

  • Open protected pdf with javascript

    Hi
I created a program that opens a local pdf file and shows it with Adobe Reader. I want people to open the pdf file only when using my program.
It's an Adobe Air program so I am able to pass javascript commands to the pdf. Lets say I pass a string (the password) from my Adobe Air applikation
to some javascript function inside the pdf file, at the time my application opens the pdf file, when i it opens. Then the javascript function inside the pdf file should be able to pass the password to some security handler and open the pdf file, without prompting the user for a password.
How do I do this in Adobe Acrobat Javascript ?

Just search for password in the to files i mentioned. I'd already said that I didn't understand the documentation very well, but here's a copy paste:
    SecurityHandler Methods login
Provides a mechanism by which digital IDs can be accessed and selected for a particular Security Handler. Through the user interface, a default digital ID can be selected that persists either eternally or for as long as the application is running. If such a selection has
    signInvisible
Specifies whether the security handler is capable of generating invisible signatures.
    Type: Boolean Access: R
    signValidate
Indicates whether the security handler is capable of validating signatures.
    Type: Boolean Access: R
    uiName
Specifies whether the security handler is capable of generating visible signatures.
    Type: Boolean Access: R
The language-dependent string for the security handler. This string is suitable for user interfaces. All security handlers must support this property.
    Type: String Access: R
    SecurityHandler Methods
been made through the UI, it might not be necessary to log into a Security Handler prior to using the digital ID.
Parameters tend to be specific to a particular handler. The behavior for Adobe.PPKLite and Adobe.PPKMS handlers is specified below.
The parameters cPassword and cDIPath are provided for backward compatibility, or they can be included as properties of the oParams object. This latter method is the preferred calling convention beginning in Acrobat 6.0.

  • Open a password protected PDF with XPAAJ

    Hi,
I have a LiveCycle PDF form that is protected by a password and Reader Extension Server.
In my application, it was suppose to open this PDF and import XML data into it. But I'm getting an exception when using XPAAJ API to open the form in my JAVA application.
Does any one knows any way to achieve that?
    Thank you.

Preview should give you a password entry field when you open the file. If it doesn't, then either Preview is acting up, or there is something odd about the way the bank has done the encryption.
You can test Preview by opening any pdf, than Saving As (with a different name), checkin the 'Encrypt' checkbox in the save dialog. When you reopen the file you should see the password demand. If that's OK then as said you need to take it up with your bank.
You can usually delete 'in use' files after rebooting the computer.

  • Conversion of word doc to pdf with ms word how to change to pdf and then ppt?

I have used my ms word to convert word doc to pdf, i purchased conversion ability from link in adobe reader and what do i do next.
    New to this.

    Hi adog,
No worries! We'll get this sorted out for you. I'm not sure that I follow, though. You converted a Word file to PDF, and now you want to convert that file back to Word, and then to PowerPoint? That seems like a lot of steps, when you could import your Word document into a PowerPoint file.
If I'm missing something, and misunderstanding your process, please let me know. It's best to avoid unnecessary conversions from one format to another to another, if possible.
    Best,
    Sara

  • How to "Print to PDF" with property "Signing: Allowed"

Print to PDF generates a file with the security document property "Signing: Not Allowed". These Properties are only visible in Acrobar reader -> File -> Properties; you can't see these in Preview.
Is there a way to change Mac OS X Print to PDF, that it generats PDFs with "Signing Allowed"?

    Thomac:
After further review I discovered that it isn't the PDFs you are creating that has the problem, it is the limitations of Adobe Acrobat Reader to perform the ability to do the functions of Document Assembly, Commenting, Signing and Create Templates. If you had Acrobat Professional and opened your PDFs and checked the properties, you would discover that all these would be allowed.
Initially, I was looking at my test files with Acrobat Professional. But, when I opened the same PDF with Reader on a different machine, I was getting the same summary as well.
Adobe Reader is just that: a READER.
You can feel safe that your PDFs allow signing.

  • Is it possible to generate PDF with "enable for commenting" from AI?

I am using Illustrator CS5 and have Acrobat 9 Pro on a Mac. I would like to generate PDF's with "enabled for commenting" feature on.
I was able generate a PDF from CS5 -> open it in Acrobat 9 Pro -> enable commenting -> Save as new PDF
I prefer to skip the above mannual step and generate the PDF with commenting enabled directly from Illustrator. Any ideas?

Acrobat 9 Pro doesn't support batch processing to "enable for commenting" feature. I can batch generate the PDFs from AI but will have to manually convert each PDF using Acrobat 9 Pro....(sucks!!!)
Another option is that I get a Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows - install LiveCycle - tranfer my AI generated PDFs (mac) to windows and use batch processing feature of LiveCycle to convert the PDFs into "enable for commenting" (sucks less!!!)
I would love to hear any other option available.

  • We created a pdf document with comments and hyperlinks. On iPad, comments/hyperlinks disappear.

Using Acrobat Pro 9, we created a pdf with comments and hyperlinks to be shared with a large community on the iPad, through a server. Once the document is opened on the iPad, all the comments and hyperlinks disappear. Are we missing a tool on the iPad or is there a different way to create this file? Thank you.

Is everyone on the iPad using the latest version of Adobe Reader mobile for iOS (10.6 at the moment)? You can see all the comments (including drawing markups) as well as view the notes attached to text markup with this version.

  • Remove password from PDF with Reader 9.0?

    Hi,
We would like to know if a user opens a protected PDF (with 128/256 bits encryption) in Acrobat Reader 9.0,
can the user save a copy of the protected PDF and the new PDF is no longer password protected.
That means I would like to check if the reader 9.0 can allow user to remove the password (Of course, permission
should be granted when creating the protected PDF in Acrobat 9.0) from the protected PDF file.
Thanks for your attention in advance,
    Raymond

Reader cannot remove password protection. It only reads files.
