Annotation coordinate type crashes VB6 IDE
VB6.0 sp6 on windows XP pro
with Demo for Measuremnt studio 6 for VB6
In the propert pages for a CWGRAPH control in VB6
I select "Annotations" - "Coordinate type" -
when I select "Plot area coordinates" VB6 crashes
The instruction at "0x73dd1c9d" referenced memory at "0x00000038". The memory could not be "read".
Hello
Seems like this is a problem with the eval version which has been corrected in the newer component. The eval version is version 6.0(590), while the newer components have version number 7.0.0. To work around this, before changing the coordinate type, add an annotation to the graph by clicking the "Add" button. Then you would have two items under the annotations list, one would be [Template], which is always there, and then the annotation you just added, default name being "Annotation-1". Now you can change the coordinate system of the annotation.
I hope this helps

Upgraded to Windows 8.1, CRXI RDC crashes VB6
Hello,
We have a number of Visual Basic 6 projects that utilize Crystal Reports XI. We maintain these reports within Visual Basic 6 itself using the Report Designer Component (RDC). This has always worked for us and allows us to continue with further enhancements and updates of these programs.
Upon upgrading to Windows 8.1 (32-bit), I've found that I can no longer maintain reports built with CRXI via the RDC within Visual Basic 6. The VB6 IDE opens fine and displays all components within the Project Explorer as expected. I can even open a CRXI report within the RDC in VB6 and it displays on-screen. However, shortly after it opens I get a hard crash of the program, displaying the following error:
Visual Basic has stopped working.
Windows then attempts to find a solution to the problem and can't.
Some additional information:
1. Everything was working fine when the system was running Windows 8.0. It was only after the upgrade to Windows 8.1 that this issue started occurring. Likewise, other workstations running Windows 8.0 (even those that are 64-bit) do not exhibit the problem described above.
2. I have uninstalled and re-installed/re-registered/re-patched Crystal Reports XI on the problematic workstation and the issue still persists.
3. To rule out permission / read-only access issues, I have disconnected the project from our internal source control system and made it stand-alone, giving myself "Full Control" to all associated files. Problem still occurs.
4. I have UAC disabled, local admin rights on the workstation, and have attempted to run Visual Basic 6 "as administrator" (i.e.; elevated mode) and the issue continues to persist.
Are there any known issues / incompatibilities with Crystal Reports XI and Windows 8.1? Any ideas or suggestions to get things working again? Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks! Thanks for the information Ludek. That's good to know.
After a bit more research, I was able to find a resolution and get things working as they did before Windows 8.1 was installed.
The VB6.EXE application crash produced an Application event in the Event Viewer. The content of this message tipped me off to the problem. In this case, it was of the "windows cannot access the file" variety. Unfortunately, the actual file that is having the problem appears blank in the event.
From there, I did a little bit of homework regarding Visual Basic 6 and Windows 7/8 in general and found that most issues can be resolved by running the VB6.EXE in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. I then completed the following:
1. Found the VB6.EXE in my file system.
2. Right clicked, went to Properties, clicked the Compatibility tab.
3. Located the section labeled Compatibility mode, clicked the checkbox to run in compatibility mode and selected Windows XP SP2 from the dropdown.
I then re-loaded the project and open the CRXI report in the RDC. No app crash... problem solved :-)
As mentioned, unfortunately I don't know exactly what CRXI related file Windows 8.1 is having an issue with. I originally thought it was something related to a mapped network drive, but all associated files seem to be pointing to the local C drive. I know that Windows Security has certain issues with read/write access to the C drive as well, so it could be a more "local" issue after all. Moving the project to a local drive other than C: might've resolved the issue as well.
In any case, this gets us back up and running under Windows 8.1. Hope this helps somebody else running into a similar issue. We have *many* programs that began life as VB6 projects quite a number of years ago. We are migrating these over to VB.NET successfully and at a consistent pace... it just takes time to do it right. This workaround effectively grants us some more time. -
Annotation-caused compiler crash
Hi,
When attempting to build against a class that uses runtime annotations, javac is crashing with:
An exception has occurred in the compiler (1.6.0-rc). Please file a bug at the Java Developer Connection (http://java.sun.com/webapps/bugreport) after checking the Bug Parade for duplicates. Include your program and the following diagnostic in your report. Thank you.
com.sun.tools.javac.code.Symbol$CompletionFailure: class file for test.annotation.TestAnnotation not found
The test case that generates this error can be found at:
http://www.cjtucker.com/annotation-bug.tgz
Synopsis:
Attempting to build against a class that contains a runtime annotation requires the definition of the annotation to be available to the compiler. If the definition is not available, the compiler crashes.
Test case:
The test case attempts to build three classes in three separate packages: a simple RUNTIME scoped annotation, a "core" class, and a "ui" class that builds against the core class. The "ui" class neither knows nor cares about the annotated properties of the "core" class. The annotation class is build in isolation; the core class is built only against the annotation class; the ui class is built only against the core class.
The test case tarball contains the necessary .java files and directory structure for compilation. The compilation commands are contained in compile.sh.
The crash can be avoided by including the annotation class in the classpath when building the ui component. The crash has been reproduced in 1.5.0_04, 1.5.0_05, and 1.6.0b61. Other JDKs have not been tested. The crash occurs with both RUNTIME and CLASS scoped annotations, though not with SOURCE scope (as expected: the compiler is correctly stripping annotations in that case). The crash does not occur if the annotation does not take parameters (i.e. is an empty "marker" annotation).
This raises some additional questions I'd be interested in hearing comment on. What is the expected behavior here? I would expect the annotation class should not be required as a dependency, in the same way I'm not expected to declare a dependency on every class used by a class I interact with. This behavior with annotations seems to breach encapsulation (for example, a client would have to know that my libraries happened to be using a Hibernate persistence layer whether or not this is of interest to them). Perhaps one of the Java gurus here could shed some further light on this?
Cheers,
Chris TuckerHi,
I know this is an old post but I am having the exact same problem with 1.6.0_11 and have not been able to find a solution.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Thanks. -
I sent a huge message on imessage and now whenever I open it it crashes, any ideas on how to fix it?
If you haven't already done so, then try closing the Message app via the taskbar and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the iPad's home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Message app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

Do you suffer the same crash when you use key commands to save or bounce instead of using file drop lists? Or are you already using key commands (which then invoke menu selections presumably).

Live Type crashes every time I try to use the "Place" function.
Everytime I try to use the Place command and import a graphic, Live Type just shuts down. How do I fix this?
ToddThat's interesting Todd. You're on 10.4.5, and "Place" selection crashes Live Type. I'm getting the same thing on 10.4.3, so upgrading the OS may not solve my problem. Plus I don't want to upgrade the OS in the middle of a project. Bad Idea!
However I have a second system with 10.4.5, and the "Place" and "Place movie" work fine. So for the time being I'm going to build th graphics there. A workaround, but it's a little cumbersome.
I tried rebooting, reparing permissions, deleting preferences for LT, but those didn't help.
My next step is to re-install LT only, but I don't want to do this until I output the project I'm working on. (It's two months in the making, and I don't want to mess anything up.) I know it's overly cautious, but there's too much at stake.

24 libdyld.dylib 0x00007fff930e35fd start + 1Most of the time I've had crashes in any version it turned out to be a corrupted preference. If u=you don't have Preference Manager, download and run it. In the latest version (10.1.2) you can trash preferences by holding down the option and command keys when you launch FCP. There are a few buggy things about 10.1.2 so do a search to inform yourself if you're thinking of updating.

My four year old Macbook Pro couldn't start yesterday and after going through solutions and all, it worked. But now it's freaking laggy and whenever I want to open an app, it takes a long time or the app will just crash. Any idea how to fix it? I really need the speed and everything back.
noeleeeen,
so you have an external hard disk, onto which you deleted/moved files from your internal hard disk, so that you now have 143 GB or so free on your internal hard disk — is that correct? Is the external disk purely for backups (e.g. a Time Machine destination), or does it function as a supplement to your internal disk?
Was it entirely your personal data files (documents, photos, movies, music, &c.) which you’d deleted or moved to the external disk, or did you also delete/move apps, libraries, &c. over there?
I’m not familiar with Echofon Lite, so I can’t comment on it, but an Apple-supplied app like the App Store shouldn’t crash.
Have you tried running Disk Utility yet, to see if its verification process gives your disks its seal of approval? -
Firefox keeps crashing, no idea why.
So I recently switched from Opera to Firefox because they had a horrible updated that stripped all the features I loved. Anyways, the first week or so after using firefox it worked fine and never crashed, now recently it crashes almost every 30 minutes or so. I get a crash report asking me if I want to restart. I have no idea why it keeps crashing and I have tried closing all my tabs (I usually have about 6-7 open at all times), but the problem is still there. If you need any information ask and I'll give it. Thanks!

Thats whats in the crash report after it crashes. I always check the submit to mozilla checkbox when it crashes but that doesn't help me solve it. -
How to call a stored procedure that has Table Of data types in VB6?
Hi everyone,
I need to call a stored procedure that has a Table Of data type as an input parameter (possibly even several Table Of input parameters). I can't seem to find any example of how to do this in VB6 using ODBC. Is this even possible?
Thanks you!
SteveThanks,
but I need to test stored procedures that uses type defined in the package.
e.g.
if I have s.p.
PROCEDURE get_risultati_squadra
( in_squadra IN VARCHAR2,
out_serie OUT tab_varchar2_5,
out_tiporisultato OUT tab_varchar2_5,
out_n_giornata OUT tab_varchar2_5,
out_squadre OUT tab_varchar2_200,
out_risultato OUT tab_varchar2_10,
out_marcatore OUT tab_varchar2_50,
out_punti OUT tab_varchar2_3,
out_rimbalzista OUT tab_varchar2_50,
out_rimbalzi OUT tab_varchar2_3,
out_esito OUT tab_varchar2_2);
I have to define every type external to the package, in this case five new TYPE !!
Is there another way to solve this problem?
Thanks -
Mx.transitions + movieClipLoader + Crashing Flash IDE
Well I got this code straight from the adobe site and it is
suppose to show how to use the mx.transition class with a movie
clip loader. When I look at the code it seems right but the flash
Ide keeps crashing but before that happens it prompts me that the
code is causeing the player to be unresponsive like ther is a loop
or something that won't end. I don't see any loop and would expect
this code to have been edited on the adobe site if it were
incorrect especially since it is fore mx 2004.
and the link to the tutorial on this site.

perfect. -
Air runtime crashing-any ideas how to fix?
Working on a MacBook Pro, I recently upgraded to Lion. Prior I had little or no difficulties launching a program (Cricut Craft Room) that needs Adobe Air to work. Since Lion upgrade lots of Air crashes and application unexpectedly quits. I've tried uninstalling Adobe Air but when I do I get a message stating I cna't do this without the newest version on Air(which is the actual one I'm trying to uninstall).
I've run a disk utility and tried some advice using the terminal but to no avail. Any ideas? If it's on a windows network you have to enter your (windows) log in (name/password) credentials.
This should be a 1 time event. It will remember it thereafter. -
App store purchase crashes- any ideas?
Whenever I want to check out my purchased history, either to download previous apps, or music, the page just freezes on my pc. On my ipad and ipod touch, the app store suddently crashes and returns to the home screen once I click on the purchased button.
Anyone, any ideas what is happening? I uploaded to the newest version long time ago, and this time this is happening frequent. There is nothing wrong to the Apps store or the iTunes store, there is no access to the purchased panel, that's all.
If there is any answers, someone let me know, please? through discussion board.
Thank you.You probably put it inside a folder inadvertently. Check inside any folders you have on the home screens.

Minion Pro fonts I was using disapeared after InDesign CC crash--any ideas what to do?
I'm fairly inexperienced with InDesign, but this summer I took over laying out a quarterly newsletter. The primary font my predecessor and I have been using is Minion Pro, and I put the last issue together without any problem. This weekend I've been working on the Fall issue, which is now almost finished. Last night, Adobe CC InDesign crashed; this morning, Minion Pro bold and Minion Pro italics are gone. *poof* Pink highlighting everywhere. Does anyone have any idea what might have happened, and/or what I might do to get them back? If not, what would those more knowledgeable suggest for a substitute? Thank you in advance.
Additional Information: Before starting this issue's layout, I had to switch from my Mac, which died, to a PC. So, I'm not sure if this problem might be connected to platform?Thank you for your response, and for clarifying that those fonts (which do not show up for my current document, old documents where I successfully used them, or any new documents any more) are generally part of the install package. Unfortunately, I have no idea how on a PC to "locate and install" them, so I'm currently trying uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign. (Futura disappeared, too, so something strange has been going on since the crash.) We'll see if that works!
