Annotations moving when printing?

At my work, we use Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard (some of us have 9 Standard or 9 Pro) to assemble our files paperless. We use the annotations to put arrows on some pages. It seems that on some occasions, the annotations are either "ghost" duplicating themselves (meaning only 1 annotation is made, but it shows up on multiple pages) or, when printing, it moves the annotation to another place on the page. This seems to be a random occurence and doesn't happen all of the time. Is this something in the settings? Or, are we simply moving too fast for Acrobat to keep up?

Thank you for your suggestion.  You are correct that Appleworks 5  for Windows does not have a preview command in the file menu.  However, using the idea of converting to a different type of file to print, in the
"save as..." window I found I could change the file type and be able to print the newly designated file.  Some style drawbacks to that, but it works in a pinch.  For new files, they might as well be created in a different application to begin with.  But this could be a very handy technique to use to print old files so as to not have to recreate them to print.  Thanks, Barry

  • Ink carrier is not moving when printer is opened

I have an HP Photosmart Premium Series All-In-One c309.  When I open my printer to replace the ink cartridges the ink carrier does not move out to the midle anymore. I can trick it by printing something and stopping it in the middle to remove the empty cartridges.  But now the carrier is parked and does not have any ink in it and it will not come out.  It displays the message that the following ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged.  It will not print and I can not get it out to put the new cartridges in the ink carrier.
I was reading that it could be a sensor that if not working.  Any ideas on how to get my ink carrier out to replace the ink?

I would like to help you with the carriage jam but I am curious as to exactly which Photosmart C309 you have.  If you pull down the flap where the ink goes, you will see either C309a, C309g, or C309n.  Of course, the internal components are all the same but it may be worth it to try a specific kind of reset and the buttons you push for that will be different.
Also, is the printer plugged into a surge protector or a wall outlet?
I suggest getting a flashlight and look under the carriage for something like a piece of paper possibly causing it to get stuck.  Here is a generic document that may not exactly address your issue but it will help you to follow all the steps in this link that you can do (I know you cannot remove the ink so you can skip that step).

Let me know if any of the steps here were of assistance. If not, answer the two questions above and I will be happy to help.

  • Why is the image moving when I print on 300gsm card, but is fine on 160gsm paper?

    Hello,
I am printing a double sided invitation for a customer. I am not sure what it was originally set in as I have only been given the pdf up to now. The invite has a thin black line around the writing.
I am trying to put a proof together so they can see it on the colour they've chosen, when I cut it out (using their crop marks) on 160gsm everything lines up nicely, however, when I cut it out from 300gsm I end up cutting either the top or the bottom off as the image has moved. I am sure this is down to the weight of the card but how do I (or the customer) counteract this and what is the term for the issue? (If there is one)
    Thanks
    Louise

Can you duplex the 300 gsm card inside the machine?
Or are you forced to print one side and then run the cardstock through the machine 2nd time to print the other side?
Double sided heavier cardstock is more problematic than paper and this issue is a common occurence.
Are you using the bypass tray or (if your printer allows it from a drawer?. usually there are limits to the stocks that can be run from drawers on smaller, less expensive machines)
It may help if you make sure the correct media type/weight  and  drawer/bypass tray is selected correctly in your print dialog/print setup.
There may be more than 1 place to select these parameters; check them all
Also check the media/weight setting on the printer itself for the bypass or drawer you are using.
There may be no real solution to achieving perfect registration from front to back on all type of media in your machine.
    Good Luck!
Just realized you are printing from PDF. Make sure that Actual Size in selected each time in the print dialog when printing both sides. sometimes it defaults to Fit when you aren't paying attention and this can cause problems.
You wrote: The invite has a thin black line around the writing.
Do you mean they placed a stroked box around the edge of the invitation? This is a no-no. The crop marks should be adequate. A thin stroked box at the trim size will be an invitation to disaster when cutting a stack of printed items, even single sided would be hell, Double sided, forget it. Have them remove the box and just have crop marks. When cutting you will obviously cut off some of the marks which makes it difficult to determine the later cuts.  This is when you get out a ruler to determine the settings you need to make for these cuts using your cutter.

  • How to change annotation's appearance  when printing the annotation under Adobe Reader?

I'm developping a plugin under SDK 7.0 for Adobe Reader  . I have two problems.
1)I will change annotation's appearance  when printing the annotation. How to do under Adobe Reader?
Uunder Adobe Arobat,I use PDRegisterAnnotHandler to register GetPrintAppearance, but PDRegisterAnnotHandler does not work under Adobe Reader.
2)Under Adobe Reader ,app.execMenuItem doesnt work. How to execute menuItem using JavaScript under Adobe Reader?
Please Help, had better give me sample, thank.

app.execMenuItem most certainly does work with Reader - what problems are you running into trying to use it?
As for developing Reader plug-ins - yes, some of the SDK methods aren't available to Reader.  If you want to change the appearance of an annotation in Reader, you would need to acquire the Cos object of that annotation and modify its appearance dictionary manually.

  • Pages 5.2 Table missing text when printed

I created a document with several tables.  These tables contain algebra formulas with superscript.  I read in another forum that the issue may be the use of the superscript.  However their problem only occurred when printing the document as a PDF.  I am having the problem printing from both Pages and as a PDF.  Some superscript appears as it should.  Not all missing text is superscript.
Any ideas?  I hate to have to recreate this document in Word.  I took me forever to create.
    Mavericks 10.9.3
    Pages 5.2

Known limitation with Pages v5.2. If you had Pages ’09 installed before the upgrade downgrade to Pages v5.2, it was moved to /Applications/iWork ’09.
You will need to export from Pages v5.2 as Pages ’09 in order to process your work in the older Pages version. You will also need to open the Pages ’09 document either through that Applications file chooser, or via the right-click, contextual menu Open with > Pages (4.3). Double-clicking with both Pages installed will default to using Pages v5.2.
LibreOffice is a free alternative to MS Word, and works better with Mavericks than does OpenOffice.

  • Howto change left/right margin when print

In a report we defined a left margin of 2 cm and a right margin of 1 cm.
When printing the report simplex everything is ok.
But when printing the report duplex we want to change the margins. Odd pages should print "normal" - but the page on the back, i.e. even pages, should then be "moved" to the left. That means the left margin has to be 1 cm and the right margin 2 cm.
How can we achieve this behavior?

    Hi Rainer

  • Have C4795 Photosmart printer. When printing 4X6 photos , the print starts halfway across the paper

When printing 4 X 6 photos on C4795, printing starts halfway across the paper, leaving
a half-page of blank.  How do I realign to correct this?
    Thanks, John

Binary Zen - thanks for your reply.  I'm using iPhoto on a brand new iMac.  Just upgraded from an iMac G5 that I've been using
for 6 years.  So, new software.  Also new printer, to me, just set up on wireless network.  I had successfully printed photos on this printer using my old iMac, but the new iPhoto software is different, and doesn't seem to give me some of the print options I'm used to, such as selecting 'draft' for quick and dirty printing, etc.
One interesting note: I reread the printer manual, which said to slide the left slider against the paper.  That moved the start point on the print to about 1" in from the leading edge instead of half-way across the page.  Now all I have to do is figure out how to move it over another inch.  I'm starting the photo paper exactly on the marks on the paper tray.
    Suggestions welcome!  Thanks, John

  • How do I hide the SWF play button when printing an embedded PDF with a SWF

When I print the PDF there is a big play button over some text. Can it be hidden?
Is there are a way of resizing a SWF once embedded? It's a pain to work with.
Sometimes, although the SWF is transparent and embedded as transparent but when printed it buts a grey box behind.
    Any ideas Adobe?

If the annotation isn't activated, you are printing the JPEG poster image instead - which doesn't have transparency. By default, poster images created from the media will have the play icon burned in, just choose your own image.

  • Objects missing when exporting to PDF, but show up when printing to PDF

Hi - I'm working with someone, both of us in InDesign CS4, and she has some documents that cause a few random objects to just go missing when exported to PDF (same on my computer). But when printing to PDF, they show up fine. They also show up fine if we recreate each individual object, but that can end up being a lot of work. She prefers to export to PDF because of quality. I'm drawing a blank on this one!
The attached file shows the issue. The green blocks just don't want to show up when exporting.

    Peter -
The links are just the PDFs of the black and white portions and don't really matter too much since they show up fine when exporting or printing to PDF. Our main concern is the green blocks, which are indeed the green areas of the plan you pointed out. They are actually separate objects created directly within InDesign that can be moved and adjusted.
I just updated to 6.0.4 and that didn't help. I wonder if this may be a variant of the bugs I was reading about with master pages and certain things not showing up when creating PDFs or printing (even though none of these things are on the master page)?
    Thanks

  • Long pause when printing from phaser 6360dn

We have a Mac that was recently upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion and moved to a different location.  The mac is now connected directly to a Xerox Phaser 6360DN via a usb cable.  When any document is printing, there is a pause of about 3 minutes before the printer starts going.  Here are some facts about this issue:
    1) Before the Mountain Lion upgrade, this particular mac was able to print fine to the printer over the usb without a pause.  The Mac had Mac OS X 10.6.8 before
    2) When the pause occurs, and if you look at the printer spool, there are two jobs listed.  The first says "Setting up printer" or something similar and the second job is the actual document being printed.  The pause is caused by the first job which takes 3 minutes.  After that is done, the printing of the document occurs pretty quickly.  As a workaround, if you click the "x" next to the the first job to delete it, it will move to the next fairly quickly and complete the printing.  However, as you can imagine, this becomes a pain quickly especially when you need to print lots of documents.
    3)  When printing in Microsoft Word or other Office apps, clicking the direct print button results in no pause and fast printing.  Going through the menu and selecting "print" results in the pause.  Other applications don't behave that way.  For some reason, using the print button in Word bypasses the part of the process that results in the pause.
    4) When in the printer spool/info folder, clicking on the get printer supplies information button results in an error that the printer is not responding.
I'm thinking there is some communication problem between the two devices that causes the hang. How to solve it I don't know yet.  I have tried the following:
    1) delete printer and reinstall printer
    2) download latest drivers from Xerox and do 1 above
    3) Used the reset printing system button to zap everything and do 1 above
    4) switch usb ports and use different cables
    5) turn off printer sharing and printer notifications
    6) no luck with any of these fixes
Not sure what to try next.  Please help

We have a workaround for now.  Using the generic postscript driver bypasses whatever initial operations were being done, so printing is much faster.  However, occassionally the printer outputs pure data instead of the expected output.  That's ok for now, but still would like to get the driver to work somehow.  I might try the Gutenprint drivers to see if that makes any difference.  Was also thinking of installing the usbtb alternative usb backend to see if that makes a difference.  Thanks for the input.

This first job - the setting up printer one - is a status check of the printer. It is being sent by the 10.8 printing system to ensure the printer has paper and toner before the print job is sent. The fact that it is sent is most likely due to the Xerox driver, or more appropriately the PPD. To check this is the case, open System Information and select Printers in the left column. In the top right pane, select the Phaser 6360. The bottom right pane will show information about the printer. There will be an entry called Printer Commands. Next to this entry, do you have some text, such as Report Levels?

The Word Print icon in the toolbar (ribbon) is by default set to "Print One Copy". This setting bypasses the printer driver settings and submits the print job to the default printer. So as the printer settings are not called, then there is no status check performed and printing is not delayed.

The Supply Levels section of Options & Supplies does not work for every brand / model of printer. And even if it was working on 10.6, does not mean it will work on 10.8.
Ultimately this will be up to Xerox to fix. You should report it to them when you get a chance, although don't be surprised if they tell you it is up to Apple to fix. The answer to that is Xerox makes the driver, not Apple, so Xerox needs to fix it. Also, other brands are not having the same issue so this points the finger back at Xerox.

  • Color shift when printing

We have a Xerox workcenter 7655 at work and since I upgraded to Snow Leopard I get bad color shifts when printing. It's mostly too much magenta. I converted a cmyk file to a high quality pdf and the color was accurate when printing from a Windows machine but the light blue was badly shifted to lavender from my Mac. I tried different cmyk profiles when creating the pdf and printed the native file out of InDesign with the same results.
The print I get from the Windows machine has the same colors as what I see on my Mac's monitor. I do mostly web design now and have been out of the print end for some time. Until I moved to Snow Leopard, I didn't have this problem.
Can I get some ideas on how I can address this?
    thanks

You answered your own question: CS5.  There have been a slew of reports of workflows spun upside down when upgrading to CS5.  It may require updating your system software and/or Adobe applications, along with any printer driver updates that may be lurking out there somewhere.  The twist to your situation is ( and is very common ) that everything was working before and now it does not.  Or there is a certain print disorder of some sort.  Very troubling.  I wish I had a smoking gun answer for you, but I don't.  It sounds like you have a very viable workflow in place that worked before and damn well should perform for you now.  I'd stick with what works and dump what doesn't ( if you can ).

  • Elements 7 - Using Custoim ICC Profiles when Printing in Editor

I have downloaded some custom ICC profiles specific for some papers I use. They are there - I can select the profile printing from the organizer - Color Management>Print space - but they do not appear in the list of options if printing in Editor. Am I forced to print thru Organizer now?

    >When you open the box in Editor>Print for the ICC profiles, the box doesn't scroll easily. You have to hold the left mouse button down as you scroll to see the entire list.
Try moving the Print window all the way to the left. If you have a small screen, move it further so that the left half of the Print window is off-screen. Then you should be able to see the scroll bar of the drop-down list of profiles.
This bug was identified in PSE 6, and I had thought it was fixed in PSE 7. But evidently not I was just able to reproduce it on my laptop.

  • Turn off notes when printing PDF from preview?

How do you turn off the annotations when printing a PDF from Preview so that the annotation notes do not appear in the margin of the printed document? Is this possible? If not, it should be.
When a page has annotations preview automatically reformats the printed page so that the note appears alongside it. I would like to print it the normal side, without the annotations that I added. I don't mind if the little flag remains in the text to indicate that there is a note, but I can't figure how to turn off the function that reduces the page and switches the orientation.

The "Print" window that you open when printing contains various optional settings prior to proceeding with printing.

  • When printing from iphoto all photographs ar printed in a pop art style rather than as seen - how do I change this to printing the photo as seen

When printing from iphoto all photographs are printed in a pop art style rather than as seen - how do I change this to printing the photo as seen?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Damaged preference files can cause a varitety of problems which you wouldn't think it could. Deleting and regenerating the pref file is one of the basic fixes to try.

  • Page Numbering when printing a multiple sheet document

I moved this post from Pages after accidentally posting it there earlier...
In considering an approach to solving a problem posted earlier today I thought about using the Continue (Page Numbers) from Previous Sheet setting in the Sheet Inspector to display a sequence of numbers on a series of sheets. All looked good on the live document, but when Printing to PDF or Exporting to PDF, I get the same first page number on each sheet. Further, the number on that first page depends on which Sheet was selected when I did the export. All pages and sheets print/export, it's just the page numbering that seems anomalous.
Let's say I have a document with three two-page sheets. On the live document, page numbers are 1 and 2 on the first sheet, 3 and 4 on the second sheet, etc. Just what I would expect. When printed to PDF or exported to PDF, I get 1,2,1,2,1,2 or 3,4,3,4,3,4 or 5,6,5,6,5,6 depending on which sheet is selected as I begin the export or print dialog.
Any one else seeing this? Is there a logical explanation for it? This is on a MBP with Snow Leopard. I haven't tried printing to paper to see what happens there.
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry,
Not the same results, but I did get weird ones.
    Using iBook & OS X 10.4.11.
Three two page sheets, each with a single table. Sheet 2 and sheet three produced by Duplicating Sheet 1.
    Live display shows pn/pc as
    1/6, 2/6, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, 6/6
Preview (sheet 3 selected), created by clicking preview button in Print dialogue, shows
    1/6, 2/6, 3/4, 4/4, 5/6, 6/6
Preview (sheet 1 selected) shows same as above.
Preview (sheet 2 selected) shows same as live.
    1/6, 2/6, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, 6/6
Repeating print to preview with s2, s1, s3 selected gives correct results each time.
    Regards,
    Barry
