Announcement - UK Oracle User Group Meeting 09-Sep-2004

The UK Oracle User Group Development Engineering Special Interest Group which covers the Forms and JDeveloper Tools will be holding one of it's regular meetings in Oracle's Reading Offices (UK) on the 9th September 2004. For details see http://www.ukoug.org/calendar/show_event.jsp?id=436.

I agree.
What's needed is at least 5 years of ongoing active Support (including emerging new Platform Versions).
If Sun/Oracle expects their clients to migrate to a new product, they should provide detailed migration information and usable migration tools (covering existing Components and Plans, inheritance, Dependencies and installation history data) to protect the substantial investments existing clients have made in the N1SPS framework.
Of particular interest for my client are the virtual host concept and modeling of dependencies over multiple hosts for application server (Oracle WebLogic) clusters.
I'm not sure if Sun/Oracle did fully understand the potential of N1SPS - especially for managing (their own) Middleware products - when they decided to EOL N1SPS.

_*New York Logic Pro Users Group – Meeting Announcement_*
The next meeting of the NY Logic Pro Users Group will be next Tuesday, October 21st, 6PM, at Dale Pro Audio in Manhattan.
Dale is located at 22 W. 19th St., Manhattan, NY.
This meeting will allow users to share their favorite tips and techniques in Logic, as well as their projects, with User Group members.
Jonathan and Steve will cover special topics, in particular how to deal with manage and synchronize multiple cues when scoring to picture.
The local NYC Apple Store's Logic guru will be in attendance as well.
If you plan on attending, and haven't done so already, please RSVP to [email protected]
*NYLPUG is brought to you by Mac Audio Trainers.*

I can't say enough good things about Redmatica, and Andrea in particular.
I've found and reported a handful of issues I found in Keymap, and in each case I had the issue confirmed, and a new build sent to me at most within a couple of days, often much sooner, with the issue fixed. If only Apple were more like that...
Keymap is a stunning piece of software that, in conjunction with Logic (or other soft samplers) make creating sampled instrument content (almost) a pleasure.
Have a good one - do you video these sessions for people who can't attend..?

This presentation is a supersized version of a presentation that Will also will be delivering at Adobe MAX 2010.  MAX session description here:
    http://bit.ly/bh77Gz
Supersized in that in the recording above Will spent a bit more time in ActionScript for the OSMF developers in attendance than he will with more general audiences.  Plus supersized in that Will took 1 hour 15 minutes (plus 15 minutes more on Q&A), whereas MAX sessions are 60 minutes, less a few minutes for the Q&A.,

  • OPA at UK Oracle User Group in Birmingham Dec 1, 2009

I will be making a presentation on OPA at the forthcoming UK Oracle User Group conference at the ICC at Birmingham. This is a major conference for the Technology and E-Business Suite parts of Oracle, running from Monday November 30 to Wednesday December 2. There are 12 different tracks plus Masterclasses and Roundtables, with 5 presentations per day, so a huge range of subjects is covered. Oracle employees make many presentations, but consultancies and end users also contribute.
I have been allocated the final presentation in Track 9 on Tuesday, with a title of "Extending Oracle E-Business Suite to use Haley Office Rules". As far as I can see, it is the only mention of Rules in the whole conference. As I am the only barrier between tired delegates and the bar, the presentation will aim to be light hearted but instructional.
I would be delighted to meet any OPA Forum members at the event and in the bar afterwards.
More details of the event are at http://techandebs.ukoug.org/default.asp?p=3232

Thanks for posting this event to the OPA forum David. It is great to see the partner community spreading the word on OPA, especially in a form like your presentation where you'll be highlighting real world experience of an OPA implementation.
I'd love to see your presentation, but wont be able to attend. Will it be recorded or available virtually for those unable to travel to be there? Perhaps you could post your slides to this forum after the event?

  • Welcome to the new Oracle User Group Community

Welcome to the new Oracle User Group Community. Whether you landed here via the redirect from the previous community site - IOUC.org - or navigated here directly, welcome. This new platform brings new community features to enhance the way you connect with user group peers and with Oracle, as well as make it easier for you to find information through a more intuitive interface. We invite you to provide your feedback on the new site. Log in using your OTN Forum credentials and join the discussion here. If you do not yet have OTN Forum log in credentials, navigate to http://community.oracle.com/community, click on the "Register" link in the upper right corner of the page and create your account.
We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Kashif,
Glad you like the new Community. Communication among user group leaders works a little differently on this site than on the previous site. Rather than having communication focus around e-mail distribution lists, communication now is focused within the site itself. The intent is that this will provide users the one place to come for information, rather than having to sort through lots of e-mail threads. That doesn't mean that e-mail is completely out of the picture though. Users can opt-in to receive e-mail notifications when an individual piece of content is changed, or when content is posted to a space. Look for the "Receive email notifications" link under "Actions" to start receiving notices. To stop receiving notices, go back to the same content/space and click "Stop email notifications".
Your Relationship Manager will be talking with you and the other leaders in your region over the next few days and weeks regarding how you and your group of leaders want to communicate.
    Best regards,
    Oracle User Group Team

  • Oracle User Group in Germany

    Hello,
I just came back from the DOAG (German Oracle User Group)
conference. HTML db seems to be much more popular than I
thought - and that's good. There were no free chairs in the
room at all. People were sitting on the floor.
Tomorrow is the second day. There are at least three or
four topics related to HTML db. Happy to have a chance to
    attend the courses.
More and more people are starting to realize and admit
than HTML db is much, much more than just a replacement
for Access and Excel. It is making competition to Oracle
own products that have this heavy aura of "serious"
    programming interfaces (J2EE, Portal,
...). People are using it with SAP, BAAN or standalone.
I saw the roadmap for HTML db. Looks quite promising. If
only the half of the planned features appear in the next
version it will become unbeatable (and I was told it is
    unbreakable?).
They demonstrated the new "session state protection"
feature using checksum. This was one of the bigger issues.
Now, it doesn't seem to be an issue any more.
    Denes Kubicek

    Denes,
Thanks for posting this update from DOAG. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it.
