Annoyed [Android]

So I have my Android tablet setup to automatically install updates for all the apps I'm using. While I don't use all of them, they are there because I need them or they provide a service that I need. Well recently I went to open up a PDF file using the new Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and low and behold I can't find the file I need. So I started doing research and at first I'm thinking I'm going to need to find an alternative to this because there are times when my tablet just isn't connected to the internet and if I need the internet to connect to files then I'm better off with something else. Well I continued digging and low and behold, I can get to the files on my tablet but I have to go through my elbow to get to my pinky toe to get to my backside to get to them.
Why did you guys at Adobe release an updated product with such a glaring flaw as not being able to view files already on a device? And why is there no phone support for Acrobat? Is it because you guys realized you made a glaringly stupid error that you don't want your Call Center people getting their ears ripped off by callers? Oh, and while you're fixing the viewing error, you might want to look at the bookmarks aspect as well. Because the new reader doesn't like bookmarked PDF's very much. It'll take you to the chapter but it won't open the subsections of that bookmark.

We are actively working on bringing the Documents tab back in a future update. Meanwhile, please try the steps mentioned at https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-5831 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTrTPR9LEq8.
Thanks,

  • Very time I click on Firefox, a check for add-on compatibility runs also after a short time the screen fills with Firefox Android add; this is annoying. How

The latest Mozilla update change the way my computer starts when I click on Mozilla on the desktop. The first think that happens is that a small window appears and tells me it is checking for add-ons compatibility. After what seems like a long period, the screen fills with some sort of Mozilla about Android and Mozilla. I then have to x this to get to my email page. This is annoying. How do I fix this?

    It sounds like this issue.

  • Firefox for android automatically downloads an IP app, very annoying. Please fix this.

As soon as I start browsing on firefox, it automatically downloads an IP app, doesn't install it, but the app just stays in my downloads folder. Happens every time. Please fix this.

The app is from https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/ip?src=search we auto update installed apps so is it possible that is was already or previously installed on the phone?
Menu button > tools > apps would show any installed WebApps.

  • Contact vs phone contacts; Google Android vs Motorola vs HTC vs Samsung

My Droid 2 contact came from several sources.  Verizon downloaded by Motorola E815 phone contacts and my contact information from an old HTC XV6800.  I downloaded other contacts from Outlook and from my HP Palmtop 200LX.  All of this made for a pretty awful database since some of the databases only had a single name field.  As I tried to correct many of the entries, I got a ton of "Forced closed" messages which was quite annoying, but I quickly learned that it was my contact database which was the culprit.  The contact and phone databases have requirements for the type of characters that are allowed in the fields.  If the import file has the wrong type of characters in the fields into which the data are imported, you get a "forced closed" error. After cleaning up all the fields, the "forced closed" problem went away.
In the process of cleaning up my contacts, I also noticed at the bottom of each listing there is an entry called 'Linked Profile' with a number in parenthesis following.  The number 1 means that this is the only profile for this person. The number 2 would mean a second profile exists.  This second profile could be within your contacts database or your phone contact data base.  If you had a higher number there, there could be additional entries within the same database - say one entry of First Name, Last Name and another of Last Name, First Name.  I had some with 7 entries and believed that these also contributed to my 'forced closed' messages.  I decided to unlink each one and found that many of them had only names and phone numbers.  These, I believe, came from the import of my old phone database that had been backed up to Verizon's Backup Assistant.  There were a few entries which consisted of a name and email address or two.  Some with just an email address.
After cleaning up the database and trying to learn about other features on the Droid 2, I decided to ensure my data was being backed up in my Gmail contacts as well as Verizon's Backup Assistant.  When I logged into the latter site, I found over 500 deleted addresses.  It seems that all those entries which contained only phone numbers that I deleted from my Droid2 were really phone contacts and were deleted from the Backup Assistant database (they were not totally deleted and I could undelete them if I wanted.)  I would have thought though that the remaining entries in my contacts are much more complete with complete home and work addresses , phone numbers, email address, IM address, company names, titles, nicknames, Websites, ringtones and whether to send the call straight to voicemail.  However, none of these contacts were backed up the Verizon Backup Assistant.  They were backed up to my Gmail contacts.  I have my Droid 2 scheduled to sync with Google's gmail, gmail contacts and calendar, as well as the Verizon Backup Assistant.  My first question is why doesn't the Verizon Backup Assistant back up ALL contacts?
With the Droid 2, if you select the Dialer icon from the full list of programs, it brings up a keypad with a search bar above and 4 Icons on the top - Dialer, Recent calls, Contacts and Favorites.  By the way, clicking on the Favorites icon allows you to select your favorites.  After clicking the Contacts or Favorites icon, If you long press the menu icon on the bottom left, you then have the option searching your contacts, clearing the frequently called list or setting up your speed dial.  It appears to be the only ways to set up the speed dial.  Once set up, you can see the assigned speed dial numbers in the entries for those people in your Favorite list.  To dial them just click the dialer icon and long press the speed dial number for the contact you want to call.  If you remember the numbers by heart, just go right to the dialer and long press the correct number.  My next question is at first I had no trouble in setting up the Favorites or the Speed dial, but lately, when I long press the menu icon, it brings up the electronic keyboard.  The only way to bring up any options is to open the sliding keyboard, shifting the screen to landscape mode.  Pressing the menu icon will then bring up the choices mentioned above.  I noticed this occurring within other applications so I believe it is a software problem cause by interactions with other software or a recent update.  It seems to be intermittant, corrected momentarily by opening the sliding keyboard, but after a couple of minutes reverts back to the problem mode.
Getting back to the contacts issue, if you select the Contact icon when the Dialer is opened, while many of the contacts that come up are from the Phone Contact database AND are not VIEWABLE when you select the Contact icon on the Home Page.  In fact, I have two entries for myself, one with nickname and last name; the other full legal name (first middle and last).  Only the one with the nickname shows up in viewing my contacts in the Verizon Backup Assistant.  This entry is also found in my main Contacts database on the Droid 2.  The entry with my full legal name is not in the Verizon Backup Assistant database.  This entry is only viewable from my phone contacts on the Droid2.  It does not show up as a Gmail contact and is not viewable on my main contact database.   It is also not the first time that my own entry has disappeared.  Can anyone explain this?
I have been reading the forum entries on various subjects regarding contacts with most folks focusing on Google's lack of design.  However, my wife has an HTC Incredible which also runs Android 2.2.  However, its contact system is totally different from Motorola's, as is LG's and Samsung.  These systems have the ability to enter data into either the phone database or the contacts database starting from scratch.  With Motorola's system the only way to enter a new entry into the phone database is start by keying in a phone number first.  This is confusing to the average user who is typically shown by Verizon people how to add entries to the main contact database.  All these systems allow for the entry to be displayed either the last name, first name mode or in the first name, last name mode.  Take aim at Motorola, not Google.  There may be some aspects of the contact system that are controlled by Android, but the sorting of the database and the ease of making entries is not an Android-specific problem.
Next question, with my Bluetooth earphone paired and connected, it takes almost 30 seconds between the pushing of the center button on the Bluetooth for the Droid2's voice command to say "Say a command", to which I respond, "Call Joe Smith mobile" or some other command.  It was instantaneous with my old Motorola E815.  This kind of delay is totally unacceptable.  Does anyone have a clue about why it takes so long?

Keep in mind, each source that you are importing contact information from has its own platform and technology being used which can be different than the platform on the device. Based on the multiple topics that you bring up, and to ensure that I address your concerns fully, please send me a private message with your Verizon Wireless cell phone number, a callback number where I can reach you, and the best time to contact you.  You will want to provide a call back number since you will need to be off of your device when we talk.

  • Yoga Tablet 10" - update to Android 4.4 and further problems with Google Music

    Hi everyone.
I've just upadated my Yoga Tablet 10" to Android 4.4. Whole process went smoothly but afterwards I'm experiencing some problems with Google Music. Playback is "skippy" or "choppy", even if whole song is downloaded. Every 15-25 seconds there small pause, which is quite annoying.
Local music files (uploaded through usb) seem to work just fine.
I've even tried resetting whole device to factory settings but without any success.
I also have an impression that youtube playback is not so smooth as it used to be in Android 4.2...
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any hints or sollutions?

  • The Xperia Z1 is the best mobile device I have owned so far.....but for one annoying flaw.....

OK, I have owned the Z1 for around 6 months now, and I have LOVED the product...I more or less have no complaints, and its become pretty much my favorite electronic device, except for my gaming PC : D
I use it day in day out, listen to the radio, watch video, surf the web, exepriment with all kinds of the incredible apps, and of course, play games (and it will be gaming that my comment is primarily about)
Thing is....gaming on the Xpeia Z1 is a GOOD experience....excellent GPU performance (though it gets HOT! ...really noticeably HOT..not warm....**bleep** it gets hot! : D), great screen, great sound with headphones (though the headphones jack tends to get in the way when holding the unit in landscape), and if playing without headphones, I find my hand covers the speaker and totally muffles the sound!
These are just small niggles, but nevertheless, things I notice, that I would desire to be slightly changed if I had the chance, but I realise they are issues with the hardware and design, so Im happy to wait unitl I get my next phone (likely the Xperia that comes out in 18 months when my contract is up!) and see how they are dealt with through the evolution of the series.
These are just mega picky things Ive noticed in an otherwise perfect design (for me....just my opinion).
However...the only thing that REALLY REALLY REALLY ticks me off, is a software issue....that has apparently been dealt with via the 'Immersive Mode' feature in Kitkat 4.4.4 (which I am running on my Xperia)....
That is the 'Soft keys' not disapearing in games, and taking up quite a large chunk of screen real estate.....in a very annoying place that depending on the game, can even quite easily be accidentally touched, kicking the unwary user out of the game,! (ARRRGHHH!)
Now I realise that proper support for 'Immersive mode' is actually up to the developers (am i right in thinking this?) and I have tried a couple of games that advertise support, and its all well and good, and works fine, also my comic book reader supports it, and so I get ALL my screen for books (rarely, I use HDX for that), documents and comics....and of course the built in video player has seemingly ALWAYS supported complete fullscreen without these **bleep** buttons getting in the way....
And its such a GREAT screen too....does anyone know exaclty WHY it is, that the Xperia series in particular sacrifices so much screen to these buttons while gaming?
All games Ive tried have the 'Top Bar' (with battery, signal and time etc..nto sure what its called officially)...automatically hidden..so why not the 'bottom bar?'..the menu keys? Especially since the strip of screen is so HUGE!!
    To show 3 **bleep** buttons!
What really makes me wonder, is that even my Kindle Fire HDX (which I use primarily for actualy reading books/newspaper/articles) and that I consider an 'inferior' device  in most respects..actually has a 'hide soft keys' feature...where in games and apps the 3 buttons and strip of screen are replaced by a very small and unobtrusive little tab...that you simply swipe out to expose the keys....
    A GREAT solutuion!
Why isnt there something like this on the Xperia series?
I have deliberately explained myself fully here because I have become very frustrated wth this just recently,  as I have been playing a lot of the brilliant games by the developer RORTOS...that makes impressive flight simulator games....games that (Particularly F-18 Carrier landings Pro 2) cannot run very well on my Kindle FIre HDX....
They play beautifully smoothly while maxed out on the Z1 though....(and the same goes for GTA Vice City, that I have been enjoying playing again on mobile on the way to work every morning : D...thanks Sony and Rockstar for a great start to my workday xD)
BUT these great games are being MARRED quite badly by those DAMNED BUTTONS!!
In F18 Carrier Landings Pro 2 and Airfighters (2 RORTOS games that are really superb if you like flight sims) several controls are positioned at the edge of the screen...and the soft keys are right in the way...so they are functionally gettiing in the way...
and whats more, they ruin the original design philosophy of the Xperia Z1...the design philosophy of 'OmniBalance'..because the game image is not equidistant from the left  AND the right side...but shunted one side or the other, because of these **bleep** buttons!
(I hope I have explaiend this, and you can picture what I mean...it really irritates me : D)
Yes I am aware of a few apps that are available, both root and non root solutions.. but I have found them all too imperfect...just not good enough, too clunky, too much configuring and messing around to get them to work...and even then they have too much impact on other functions to be worth it for me...since i do use my Z1 for a LOT of different things.....
The ones Ive tried are fine as kind of Dev Tools...but I really love the overall design of the Z1...and I like to KEEP it beautiful and slick to use...as slick as it looks...(yep, I like the cosmetics so much, I cant even bring myself to keep it in a case xD...I just have to be careful with it...and its hardly got a scratch so far...just a few hairline type ones : (....
So...can Sony please add a little feature, like the small tab that I mention above on the Kindle Fire HDX, to hide those keys?
I have messaged RORTOS about them supporting Immersive mode fully, and they said they would look into it (of course they said that!), bur that most devices these days ALREADY hide the soft keys in games...and in my experience, thats true!
Out of 5 or 6 devices Ive played games on, i have to say that the Xperia series is easily the most effected by this issue.
and its ANNOYING as **bleep**...and I KNOW Im not the only one that thinks this...but I havent found an official Sony response (or indeed Android or Developer one) about what is likely to be done.
So does anyone have any news?
Does anyone know why one of the best screens and best GFX performers in a mobile device is still suffering from the soft keys being present at all times in games?....(except every now and then Ive noticed the keys are slightly camoflaged, as white dots....the strip of screen is still taken up, but the actual key icons are reduced to white dots (anyone else seen this?) but this just seems to happen randomly......sometimes it does that, mostly it does NOT...and besides, its not a real solution anyway...since a chunk of screen is STILL used up by it....
Please Sony, you use a custom Android,  just liek Amazon do on the Kindle Fire HDX (though admittedly, not quite SO customised xD), and THEY can hide these keys without immersive Mode support...
    Why cant Sony?
    rant over...
I still totally love the phone..Im only going off on one like this because I love everything else about it...but this one thing I think is actually a pretty big deal.....so please address it ..
    Please?
    All the ebst
    jim.
(PS I am also really harrassing RORTOS about supporting Immersive Mode too....if ALL the Devs supported it, then this wont be an problem (I suppose anyway?)....but Im not sure if there is an issue about how many people are actually USING KitKat 4.4.4...I would guess a LOT but perhaps not quite enough to make a special effort for?....anyway...Im not just picking on Sony : D)
    rant really over.....for now.....

You had to have some kudos for the effort put in to your thread as week as the point you make.

  • Problems with Media and my Blackberry Bold, is it time for me to give up on RIM this is really annoying

    Hello RIM,
Over the past year since owning a Blackberry, I have had on-going issues with syncing my music between my (2) bolds, so I know this is not specific to the hardware, I have also managed 400 BB's on a BES before so I have a fair idea of how to do things and troubleshoot issues.
    1. My music many times has sounded severely distorted through my car speakers, with lots of bad crackle that hurts my ears
    2. Transferring media between my device and my computer is actually really annoying and now I can't even find my playlists on Windows 7
    3. This should be seemless, it should not be buggy and I can't believe, having done so much support with your hardware and software that this continues to be a real problem for me
I have a playbook, 2 blackberry bolds (I had to buy another 1 because Mobilicity does AWS only and Bell was just plain mean to me so I gave up on them).
I am ready to go on ebay and get rid of this stuff because whilst I mostly use it as a phone (the reason I went with BB), it is important that I am able to do other things with it, without having to go through a dozen articles and issues just to get things to work, these should have been ironed out in the bug reporting process.
So I have reinstalled both Itunes and BB Desktop Manager, both manually and via repair and tried even recopying over my playlists, this doesn't work.
I can't believe the lousy support and buggy software, come on RIM, there is no excuses in this market, PICK UP YOUR GAME and update the BDS or I am done and so will the many other people who won't even take their time to write anything about it on here but vote with their wallet.

Well you know the playbook is actually pretty cool but didn't seem to be ready to go out on time and being a late entrant to the market I would have expected them to showcase the playbook better, especially like how Nintendo gets out there and gets everyone playing with it hands on, there are some things about the Playbook that actually make it unique but it has been poorly marketed.
Unfortunately getting BDS and everything to work properly should not be an issue, I have already spent thousands of dollars on hardware and my phone provider, what am I actually paying for here? So I will spell out some things that make the Blackberry Playbook special and what I would have been pushing had I been in charge of marketing. Firstly I would have had a few different campaigns going, one that targeted business corporate customers, regular business customers and the public that use them as their choice of smartphone and open to potentially buying one.
     1. Flash works really great, come on blackberry, why couldn't you team up with Facebook on this one? Facebook looks better on a Playbook than any other tablet I have seen, in fact the web looks better in general.
    2. Stereo speakers(dual), movies sound great, music sounds great and so do games, in this area, Playbook has the upper hand.
    3. USB & HDMI out - Allows much easier portability of presentations and transferring of files and now I believe there is the Wifi Sync as well.
    4. Blackberry Bridge - You know it's like RIM got backed into a corner on this one, but you know, I think this is the most secure way to operate a tablet, I love how when I turn off bluetooth on my bold, my personal and private information is removed and I can pass it to friends and family without my personal communications being looked into, with the other tablets, it's pretty hard to have different people on them, without probably creating different profiles, with the Playbook, you could share it between a team and it would seamlessly operate between them.
     5. True Multitasking - You know, you can play music, whilst playing a game and you can switch between applications, this funtions pretty awesome. I put on some cool music and loaded up a game on the device and someone whom had an Apple device was sincerely impressed he could listen to music whilst reading or playing games etc. This could also enhance Business Presentations that require audio in the background whilst displaying and going through different information / files or charts.
    6. QNX OS - I mean wow Blackberry, this Operating System is fantastic, I love it, this was an EXCELLENT choice and this I will give you 5 stars on, I can't wait to see what QNX can do on the Blackberry and I would not be surprised if the QNX OS became a major OS against the others, it definitely is polished and apps just install and are ready to go in no time.
RIM has been ahead of the game and because of it's great name with-in business circles they have almost sold themselves and whilst it's nice to see that RIM has sold over 250,000 units with-in the first week this could have been drastically improved by realizing when getting into a NEW market, they need to do the proper marketing and get the devices out there with subject matter experts to educate people whom are checking them out so they can share that information with their friends.
Google paid a very large price with their Nexus One because they where over-confident and thought they would sell based on their name alone, this could have been a learning curve RIM did not have to deal with. There are actually other nice things about the Playbook, the apps that are in their app store are pretty cool and when Android apps are available it will be cooler.
I like the size of the tablet I can comfortably reach accross the screen to hit all the keys on the digital keyboard making it any larger and I couldn't hold it in my hands with the same comfort; copping out to apple fan boys thinking they must have a 10.1" tablet is not necessary, this is the perfect size to sit in your hands, some people think they are small but if they actually watch a movie or play a game on it or look at websites by "Playing with it themselves" they will react differently and actually suggest if your going to do a 10.1" tablet, also keep the smaller sized one as well.
    Suggestions :
    - Working on building in more extensions for gaming such as Unity so that games like battlestar galactica online etc could be played online and directions could be replaced by using the gyroscope.
     - Hire more people if you are having problems meeting deadlines, these companies, including Apple are taking risks to win the market, if your going to take a swing at your competitors, please make it a punch and not a jab, the biggest thing you still have on your side is the market you already had and the market share you have been losing and since we all upgrade our devices so often at this time, come out with something special and we will continue to support you. Okay now that I have that off my chest I feel better. DAMMIT !

I have a variety of devices on my home network, such as 1 MAC, 5 Win 7 PCs, 4 Android mobile phones, 1 TV PVR, 1 BluRay Player, 1 TV, 2 Network Printers, 1 iPod Touch. All of them is appearing as the should except one of the mobile phones. It is being recognized as a Win 7 PC and I can not change the type to anything but a PC/Mac. I have tried changing the IP address and also completely resetting the network but to no avail. Network Magic also gives my Android phone (HTC Desire) the name of one of the connected Win 7 PC's. The IP address and MAC address recognized by Network Magic is the ones associated with the phone, not the PC. The PC is a laptop with both wired and wireless connection, but it doesn't help if I disable on or the other or both. I have also completely reinstalled Network Magic on the PC but the problem persists.
In addition to being annoying, the problem also prevents me from administrating a NetGear access point as it only accepts to be managed by the computer Network Magic is associating with my Androd phone. To work around that issue I hope I can do a factory reset on the access point and reconfigure it, but I'm not looking forward to it. I have bought Network magic Pro as my network management sw and would like to use it for that purpose.
    Please anyone - HELP!

Dang! It's been a year since this was posted and nobody is able to HELP...
Anyway, I have the same problem here too... My Verizon Motorola Droid A855 is identifies as computer and Microsoft Windows 7 (workstation). I can't get the other options to categorize it as a cellphone. The thing is my Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-Ray DVD Player appears on the network map and I was able to put it under "Media Adapter," another pc appears  as it should, a Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender as "Wireless Access Point," and a BoostMobile Motorola i1 Android cellphone appears as a "cellphone." So, how come my Motorola DROID A855 is detailed as under my pc name and operating system Windows & Professional? This is weird.

  • How do I stop Firefox for Android from popping up the on-screen keyboard when loading a page with a search box on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2?

When I go to certain sites on the web which have search boxes, Firefox will pop up the onscreen keyboard as the page load completes, without me doing anything to focus the search box. It's annoying to have to tell the keyboard to go away each time before I can navigate in the page.
I specified the device I am using (Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch) because it uses a nonstandard keyboard applet, called simply the Samsung Keyboard, which could be doing something different than the regular Android one. I don't have the option of switching to the stock Android keyboard.

That won't help iamjayakumars. That pref blocks popup windows on load. The keyboard is not a popup window.
This behavior happens because the website sets focus to a text box on the page. Firefox is following the standard behavior for desktop browsers.

  • Crashing/not working with latest update on Android

I have installed the latest version of app on my Android phone and managed to log in and set everything up fine but there are now a few problems:
    1) Nearly every time I open the app the notification icon (which was supposed to not show anymore) shows for a second then I get returned to my home screen.  I open the app again and it does the same but eventually after opening/crashing it does work but can sometimes take 6 times before it actually stays open! (I've cleared cache, cleared data, rebooted phone etc.)
    2) I've tried making calls with wifi and 3g (and also tried with wifi in airplane mode) but it always says 'call failed'.
When I run the test connection option it takes ages then says 'connection test failed, sorry but there's a problem with the BT SmartTalk service, try again later'
I've checked the service page and it doesn't report any problems!
I can live with the first problem although it's annoying but the 2nd problem is preventing me from actually using the app!

My dad also updated the latest version and he also cannot make any calls

  • How can i use icloud to synch my itunes library with my samsung android phone?

I want to sync my iTunes Library. MP3 files with my Samsung Intercept Android smartphone. Unfortunately, my HP laptop does not recognize my device when connected via USB cable, or when trying to sync via wireless networking applications from the Android Marketplace.  Any solutions or links to best resources would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
My computer system hardware:                   HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC,
                                            Processor:                 Intel Duo-Core CPU T6400 @ 2.00 GHz
                                            Memory/RAM:        4 GB

Wireless Carrier:    Virgin Mobile USA (running on the Sprint Wireless Network)

So I have iTunes Accounts set up, iCloud enabled and iMatch rolling. Got my library matched (well, vast majority, like many others I do have some songs that have no reason to be 'inelligible' but are not uploading. Don't lecture me on the "rights". I'm a musician with 100s of songs in my library I wrote and recorded. iTunes uploaded about 80% of them. remaining 20% iMatch says are inelligible. BS. its a bug.)
Upon turning on iCloud on my iPhones, I lost the ability to tell iTunes which playlists I want on my iPhone. Instead, I am told to download "songs" from my cloud. Annoying as that's a lot of songs to wade through again. And I have cool smart lists created to auto-sync stuff to taste. Fine.
I go to my playlist and there are no songs at all on myiPhone, even after going to settings (good luck finding that tip!) and enabling viewing "all songs" so I can see the cloud. No songs in playlists. I see all the songs if I go to an artist on the cloud and download it again. Then, back to playlist and just those songs are there!!
There is one playlist that enabled me to "download all" from my phone. Rest don't. Why????
Why can't I dictate playlists via iTunes as before?? When you have over 20,000 songs in your library, playlists are really, really important. It will take hours for me to cherry pick through the cloud to find the songs I want on my phone. The songs I already groomed via the power of iTunes.
Good idea here with iCloud, please help with the usability!!!

  • Can't mount Android phone; Why not?  {or, How to uninstall Mark/Space software?}

    Ladies and Gents...
There's a Heritic in the building...
I'm a loyal T-Mobile customer, and I finally gave up on waiting for the iPhone.
So, I'm moving from my LEMON of a BlackBerry 8900 over to an Android phone:  A Samsung Galaxy S II.
But, I'm having trouble mounting it via USB cable to ONE of our TWO Mac Minis.
It would seem that SOMETHING is wrong about the second one, but I sure can't figure out what to uninstall, reinstall, etc.
Here follows my description of the two computers.
    {A description of what happens can be seen "down-page".}
    =====
This is the description of my wife's Mac Mini.

      Kernel Version:    Darwin 10.8.0
    =====
    Here's my own computer.
I'll call it the "Second" one, as it's the one that does NOT connect to the SGS2.
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:    Mac mini
      Model Identifier:    Macmini2,1
Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:    2 GHz

    =====
When I'm seated in front of my wife's Mac Mini,
I select on the Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) the following:
Settings > Wireless and Network > USB utilities.
On the window that then appears, it states:
       USB mass storage
Tap the button below to copy files between the computer and SD card.
       [Connect storate to PC]
Note that at this point the micro USB cable has NOT yet been connected.
I click the button, and this dialog box pops up:
       USB utilities
Connect USB cable to use mass storage.
       [Cancel]
I connect the cable, (and I do not press the button)...
The tan or "baby-puke green" Android symbol pops up on the top third of the screen, with a USB symbol in the place of its upraised left hand.
    Beneath that is this text:
       USB connected
You have connected your phone to your computer via USB.  Select the button below if you want to copy files between your computer and your android's USB storage
       [Connect USB storage]
Please note:  The above DOES appear on our first Mac Mini (my wife's).
However, it only briefly FLASHES on the screen when connected to (my own) second Mac Mini.
I press the [Connect USB storage] button...
    I get this dialog box:
       Connect USB storage
Connecting USB storage will stop some applications in use.  They may not be available until you disconnect USB storage.
       [ OK ]  [ Cancel ]
    I click on OK.
The clockwise spinning circle briefly appears in the bottom of the screen, then my phone and micro SD card appear in the "DEVICES" section of an open Finder window of our 1st Mac Mini.  I can transfer files back and forth on our first Mac Mini.
Remaining on the screen of the Android (SGS2) is the green android and this message:
       USB storage in use
Before turning off USB storage, make sure you have unmounted ("ejected") your Android's USB storage from your computer.
       [Disconnect storage from PC]
As indicated earlier, I can transfer files.  Instead, I now click the "eject" icon for both the microSD card and the phone, then click on the above "[Disconnect storage from PC] button.  All is copacetic on this Mac.
NOW...    Moving over to MY Mac Mini...
I repeat the above steps, but when prompted to attach the cable, the baby-puke green android briefly flashes on the screen, then a screen wipe takes him away and reverts to the following message:
       USB mass storage
Tap the button below to copy files between the computer and SD card.
       [Connect storage to PC]
    nuts.
I've been doing this over and over and over again, there is just no getting around this.  There is SOMETHING about my own Mac Mini that's causing a problem with mounting the Android phone.
The only plausible expanation that I can think of is:
Before R.I.M. released the Macintosh version of their "Blackberry Desktop Manager" application software, I had to purchase a compeditor's product and install it.
    {I'm sorry to say that I can not be certain of what the product was called;
I _reasonably_sure_ that it was "Missing Sync for Blackberry" by "Mark/Space".
    A distant second possibility is "PocketMac for the Blackberry", but I can NOT be absolutely certain of either item.}
To this day, I am not convinced that the first sync software I used was sucessfully or correctly UNinstalled.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
What do I need to locate/fix/remove, and how, etcetera?
    =====
p.s.:  It occurs to me that this is first and second a question of:
    - How, so long after the fact, do I delete all the old files that were associated with the "Mark/Space" software,
    and
    - Is the presence of the "Blackberry Desktop Manager" software on a Mac Mini's OS X 10.6.8 system going to create problems syncing to an Android?

Safe Mode (booting while holding down Shift key) should have disabled all the Login items, as well as any non-Apple startup items, including the launchd items.
I'm out of "Easy" ideas, and anything I say after this, is just wild ideas, so feel free to ignore me.
Have you tried different USB cables?  Maybe there is an issue with the USB connector, or the way you have to bend things to access your Mac mini USB ports is different from accessing your Wife's Mac mini USB ports?
Try alternate USB ports.  Maybe there is a bad/marginal port/connector.
Try removing all your existing USB devices.  If you are using a USB keyboard and/or mouse, try using a different USB keyboard and/or mouse (maybe borrow them from your Wife's Mac mini).  Basically remove all other USB devices and replace the essential keyboard and mouse with known good ones).
Desperate measure (Backup first before proceeding down this path).  Using a Firewire cable, boot your Wife's Mac mini into Firewire Target Mode.  Connect a Firewire cable between your Mac mini and your Wife's while your Wife's is in Target Mode.  Now boot your Mac mini holding down the "Option" key, and select your Wife's Mac mini's disk to boot from.   Essentially you will be using your hardware and your Wife's software to see if you have a hardware issue, or if it is a software issue.  That is to say if it works with your Mac mini booted from your Wife's boot disk, then your hardware is fine, but there is something wrong with your software.  If it does not work, then it is your hardware.
Hopefully, you Wife will not kill you for even mentioning this.  ALSO, if you do try this, BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP first, especailly her system.  Not that anything will go wrong, but if it does, the last thing you want is an annoyed Wife :-)  BACKUP!

  • How do i disable pdfjs on android firefox 15?

The latest firefox for Android has an annoying "feature" that it trys to open pdf documents within the browser after a download. This does not work with the PDFs that we create internally (they display as white pages) so I need to disable it in favour of documents opening in acrobat as before. Is there a simple way to do this like there is on firefox for windows?

Firefox for Android does not ship with PDF.JS. Firefox may open PDF files with the default PDF app on your phone, if one is set.

  • Flash Builder 4.7 Release Build plays slow on Android

I am using FB 4.7 to build a mobile Flex app for Android (Nexus 10) which works fine when i use the debug apk in the development environment and on the Nexus but the release build plays at a slower framerate.
It feels like the GPU render setting in the xml is ignored. The framerate is very slow during a big animation but speeds up in smaller animations
If I decompile the release apk i can see the renderMode is set to GPU
The release build process is also ignoring all the folders and associated files in the bin-debug. The only files copied to the release temp folder are the swf (with smaller filesize) and the app xml. I have to manually copy all associated files with each build, which is quite annoying
Does anyone know how to fix the slow playback for release builds?
Or is there a way to rename the development apk so that it doesn't have the '-debug' suffix as this apk plays correctly
    Thanks

    hi ade_1,
i have figured out excatly the same where i also have the nexus 10 tables. Do you had a chance to test it on another device?
Do you have found a way to fix it?
I use AIR SDK 3.8 with FB 4.7.
The release version with runtime build-in is a lot of slower.
    Thanx
    Gary
    Update:
When i debug the app (over USB) and then export a release version that is automatic installed on the device, i got the slow performance. BUT!! when i switch off the device, discounnect the USB calbe, start the release app, i got the full performance back.
Can you try this and report if i´m right?

  • BT Home Hub 3 and Android 4.2.1 WI-FI issue

Hi, i'm seeing a really annoying issue on my nexus 4 running android 4.2.1. The wireless works perfectly when i am connected at home to the HH3. Everytime i leave the house and go out of the home hubs range, when i return, the BT HH3 shows as "Not in range" even when standing right next to it.
As soon i toggle Wi-Fi off then back on on the nexus 4 it connects instantly with a signal strength of excellent. The hh3 is set to channel 13 and looks to be not conflicting with another router on wifi analyser.
If anyone has seen anything similar on another android device when using a HH3 i would appreciate any feedback or potential fixes.

I have a HTC Desire with Android 2.1, and a home hub 1, and have no problems. Do you have another router you can try, or perhaps use as an extra wireless access point?
I do know that people seem to have problems with the HH3, for some reason, but I cannot see why it should be an issue with an Andriod device, as they normally remember wireless settings.
Channel 13 can cause issues with some devices.
