Annoying alerts

How do I stop those very annoying text/audio warnings?  i.e.  Are you sure you want to restart your computer?  Are you sure you want to leave this page? etc.

Then maybe it's this, which I've never bothered with before: System Preferences>Speech. Although no matter how I set it I can't get it to speak any alerts, e.g., Are you sure you want to restart....?

  • Annoying alert concerning data plan

I have a iPhone 4S and a new iPad.  I have a personal hotspot on my telephone that I use to get my data when I am away from home.  I keep getting these messages on my iPhone saying that I don't have a data plan and I have to click on it to get rid of the message.  It seems to be happening more frequently.  I don't think I had that problem when I first bought the iPad.  AT&T told me that it was in the Apple software, so is this something that started with the updated software?  Anyone who doesn't have a data plan, knows they don't have a data plan, this is just trying to annoy people until they buy a data plan.  Well I am paying plenty for my Personal Hot Spot and this is driving me crazy.  Does anyone know how to get rid of this alert.  APPLE IF YOU ARE LISTENING, STOP SENDING THIS ANNOYING ALERT.  If it is in the software, take it out of the next update!

I apologize, I said I receive the alerts on my iPhone, but in reality I get them on my iPad.  I have tried turning off cellular data on my iPad, but then I can't seem to connect to the Internet when I am away from home and using my Personal Hotspot connection.  It could be a case of "user error" because I find connecting through the iPhone hotspot to be difficult at times.  You have to go into the iPhone settings and go to General>Personal Hotspot and then on the iPad go into settings>Wi-Fi and then select your iPhone.  If you don't do every steps the iPad doesn't connect.  I will try turning off cellular data on my iPad again and see if I can connect to the Internet when I am away from home.  Thanks for trying to help.  .

  • Annoying alert

Testing Dreamweaver CC under Mac OS X 10.8.4.
How can disable the black alert "Web Font are not rendered in the Design view. Please switch to Live view to preview Web Fonts."?
I'm on full Code View: Why appears this annoying alert on Code View anytime I open Dreamweaver?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
The info bar message that shows up for web fonts is only shown once per Dreamweaver session.
You can choose to click on the cross mark next to that message to remove info bar, but it will re-appear next time when DW is quit and launched.
Reason being - There are multiple messages that are shown to users in this info bar, which aids them to perform the correct and desired results.
The ability to permanently disable info bar is currently not available. You can choose to submit a feature request for this through:

  • Nokia 301 DUAL v. 9.04 and annoying alert "a prefe...

I would like to reflash the phone  to get rid of annoying alert "a prefered sim is needed to keep app online. continue?"
I used Whatsapp for the moment, then I deleted Whatsapp account and Whatsapp application at the end. But the alert has remained and appears from time to time.... Firmware is 9.04.
I reflashed new firmware 9.04 few times with NOKIA RECOVERY SOFTWARE TOOL but this alert reappears occasionally...
Temporarily the issue has been solved with removing SIM configurations (it helped but I can't send MMS)....
I don't wanna check mobile data in preferered sim, because it causes pernament online connection ( mobile data leak, higher costs, less batterry life etc.)
NOKIA how to solve this problem for good?

When installed to the phone, WhatsApp will keep the data connection open all the time, so it would be the probable cause for this behaviour.
If you want to get rid of the popup message, go to "Menu > SIM mgr. > Preferred SIM" and check if the setting is set to "Ask every time" or something else. If you want to use e.g. SIM1 automatically for data connection rather than the seeing the popup alert, then edit the settings accordingly.
If you on the other hand don't want your phone to use mobile data, then you go to "Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Mobile data > Mobile data > Off".

  • Really Annoying Alert !!!!!

The finder alert sound when copying a file to (in my case) a USB pen drive that appears as an external disk, is to me an incredibly ANNOYING sound, I cant even describe it.
I JUST WANT TO GET RID OF IT!!!! I cant find it in the System Library Sound folder, it is not one of the sound selections in Dock>System Preferences>Sound, is there any program available to change/remove finder sounds? It seems System Pref>Sound>Sound Effects only changes the basic alert sound.
    HELP
PS I know I can turn off ALL sounds, but I just want to get rid of this one.

  • Annoying alert tone whenever I connect to an acces...

Since I installed SmartConnect (great app), I have this "knock-knock" alert whenever the phone connects to the wifi network.
So I installed Psiloc Connect only to find this is still the case.
Then I uninstalled Psiloc and SmartConnect and the alert tone is STILL there.
    I rebooted the phone.
Did SmartConnect enable this or is it something else?
I deleted and recreated an access point and the alert tone is STILL there.
I have looked everywhere to shut it up: in Settings/Personalisation/Tones , but there is no tone that sounds like this one. It is also not a standard warning tone as I switched that to off too.
    Anyone an idea?

After I booted the E71 clean (7370), and re-installed SmartConnect, I found that SmartConnect was NOT the cause for the alert tone.
NOTE: Remember to change your App. Mgr Settings to All Software installation and Online Certificate Check to On BEFORE installation of SmartConnect.  If you do not do that you will get a message upon each connection: your phone is not licensed to use this software

  • Annoying alert sounds

When the sound is on, my computer randomly "beeps" a few times and random intervals (sounds more like a thump I guess). Why is this happening? How do I shut sound off?

I've never experienced any alert sounds related to using an AirPort base station.
Be sure to try shutting down (powering off) the iMac, instead of just doing a restart.
Also, some sound settings are stored in PRAM, so try resetting PRAM if the problem recurs.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
As a test to narrow down the cause, create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. Does the problem recur in the new account? If not, the cause is likely to be in your normal user account. If the problem does recur even in the new account, then the cause is likely to be related to the overall system (OS), or possibly hardware (but it would be very unusual if random alert sounds was hardware-related).

  • Annoying alert menu

    Hello everyone,
I have a 4GB mini and over the last week whenever I connect my mini to my powerbook I get this message "The iPod "_ iPod" cannot be updated. The required file is in use." The iPod loads just fine and I can transfer and delete music even though this message comes up. There is no actual hardware issue, just this annoying message that comes up everytime. I've reset the mini, I've re-installed iTunes and still get this message. Anyone know how to get rid of this or is this something I should just deal with?

I have been having the same problem whenever I connect my iPod to either my work computer (a PowerMac G4) or my laptop (PowerBook G4). The message reads: 'The iPod "Thomas's iPod Mini" could not be updated. The required file is in use.' This message sometimes pops up every few minutes and is VERY annoying. FYI, I have my iTunes Library on an external USB hard disk, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

  • Ovi Suite annoying alerts and pop-ups

The features of the Ovi Suite are OK. User interfaces also are nice. But what's with these alerts and application pop-ups??? Why do I need to get alert "No internet connection" if I'm even not using the application? Why the application pops up when doing something in background (sync I suppose)? Additionally because of the huge memory usage I always switch the application off and on when required.
As I've already told I like the application. But these few things spoils the party.

As I use wifi connection on my laptop the internet usually switches from one wifi router to another and I get this OVI "no internet" alert. Sometimes when I'm away and come back I have 5-10 alert pop-ups.
Maybe you would make a tick box in the options menu to diable this message. OR let the alert popup dissapear when the internet is back?
Now I simply kill the ovi aplication when not needed.
Using Windows 7, with N81. Ovi is 2.0.2.42.
What happened to old good Nokia PC Suite?

  • No sounds and annoying alert!

All of a sudden I keep getting a message on my phone (3GS) saying 'This accessory is not made to work with iPhone' even though I'm not connected to any accessories. At the same time, all of my sounds, including the iPod function, have stopped working with the exception of my phone ringtone. I've tried a software restore with no success. Does anyone know anything I can do to resolve this?
    Thanks.

Look in the manual for cleaning guidance - and no sounds can be caused by the phone thinking its connected to a dock and routing the audio to the connectors rather than the speakers/headphone socket.

  • How do I stop the annoying sound alerts when opening up a new production?

I'm sure I'm not the only one going through this so I thought I'd ask. I'm running FCSver and whenever I open up a new production or asset, I get this annoying "alert" sound effect (the Sosumi under system preferences), and I was wondering if anyone knew how to turn this off. I'll keep looking, and I'll post if I find anything, but if anyone knew the answer, or could point me to another post, I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've got a custom timecode field somewhere in your production and/or asset metadata group(s), right? And I'm going to further guess that this timecode field has dashes in it like this --:--:--:--, right? If so, try this: Click the arrow next to the timecode field and adjust the timecode so that it has a number (it doesn't matter what the number is as long it's not dashes - "00:00:00:00" is fine). Then Save this asset, close it and then reopen it and see if the beeping madness has vanished. Then, to make this change permanent for all of your new assets, make sure to edit the default value of any custom timecode fields to put zeros (or some other numeric default value) into them when a new asset is generated. If the asset still beeps when you open it, check the other metadata groups in your set to see if there isn't another empty timecode field lurking in the shadows.

  • Wireless Keyboard - Low Battery Alert - Way to turn off?

I have a wireless keyboard (macbook late 2008 model running Lion) and while I've come to terms with the speed the thing eats away at batteries, I am most annoyed by the alerts telling me how low the battery is.  I get alerts at around 15% and around 10% they pop up almost every 7-10 minutes, which is quite annoying if you're doing a bit of work. I would prefer to use my batteries until they run out or at least until they are 5% or less, yet the annoying alerts almost make me wish to throw them out now.  Clearly the easiest solution is to just always use new batteries or rechargables, but I would prefer to find a method to just get rid of the warning altogether. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    To my knowledge, no.

  • Disable Popup Alerts While Writing Text or Email?

Is there any way to disable the annoying alerts that pop up while you're in the middle of writing an email or a text? I'll be right in the middle of typing something and the alert will pop up; next thing I know I've hit the alert with my thumb and {{ whoosh }} off I go into some completely other place. It's so freaking annoying! But I don't want to disable the alerts all together--only while I'm typing. Alerts are the only way I know if I received a message since the iPhone has no blinking light or other reminder.  Anyone else annoyed by this? Any known fixes/workarounds/solutions out there?

They're email alerts. When I'm typing a text message or email and I receive a text or an email, the alert for that text or email pops up right in the middle of my screen while I'm typing (see picture) so I accidentally hit the alert and either hit "Close" or "Options" by accident. If I hit "Options," I've sometimes accidentally hit "Trash" and then I have no idea what the alert was even for. I use my iPhone for business and I've lost opportunities because I've accidentally trashed things.
Surely I can't be the only person this is happening to.

  • Turn off alerts

How can I turn off those annoying alerts that DVDSP gives every time it formats a DVD?

No, it's just annoying that I have to stop what I'm doing to activate DVDSP so that the bouncing icon and the voice alerts don't drive me crazy.
