Annoying (and somewhat scary) buzz

Sometimes, when a (random) system sound occur and I'm playing a song in iTunes, my iMac G5 make a very annoying sound, some kind of very loud metal-rumor noise. After that sometimes the volume mutes, some other times system sounds don't play any more.
These buzzes can be very scary if they occur in the middle of the night (I'm very used to play with my mac during the night), because it's really VERY loud.
Can I manage this? Or is it a problems with any driver?
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   1.5 GB RAM

This buzz could indicate there is a problem with your mac.
Try these steps.
1. Make sure that this noise is related to the computer by removing and shutting down all other devices in the vicinity of the computer that could be causing a sound.
2. Determine if this is a power supply noise. With the iMac G5 on and running, adjust the screen brightness by pressing the F14 and F15 keys on the keyboard. Does the noise change in loudness when adjusting the brightness?
Yes : The volume changes when the brightness changes, the noise may be related to the power supply. Unfortunately this means the power supply may have a problem and need to be replaced.
No : If the volume does not change when the brightness changes, the noise is not a power supply issue. Go on to step 3.
3. Quit all applications and test the computer again.
4. Check the volume settings under Sound in System Preferences.
5. Reboot the computer and check the computer again.
6. If the noise still doesn’t go away, you'll have to get in touch with Apple technical support. Your machine if it's under warranty, they may want to look at it.
