Annoying app and window restart solutions?
Is there a work around or third party software that defeats one of the most annoying things Apple has ever done to an operating system - incorporate a new feature that automatically relaunches apps after shut down with no absolute way to disable it. Sure, I can check of the box every in the shutdown window every single time I shut off the computer, but its a pain. As for deselecting the restore windows box in the General preference pane, it's not a permanent solution either. I can see the advantage of having apps restarting after a crash, I do not see the advantage of not being able to easily disable this feature. Upgrades are supposed to increase and enhance, not hamper and aggravate.
Thanks,
Carl

It is a cool feature except when it isn't. My laptop crashed this morning, I had a lot of apps open, I'm a developer and need a log of things going at once. There should be some way to disable it after the fact. I've been sitting here for over an hour with a completely unresponsive computer that is trying to restore those apps, apps I don't wNt to start up after a crash. There should be some sort of way to disable it after a crash. It's not helpful if it turns my computer into a brisk for over an hour.
To start your computer without restoring open windows, start your computer in "safe mode", by following instructions on this page http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh21245.html which are repeated below:
Shut down your computer and wait 10 seconds.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator (spinning gear).
Then you can restart in normal mode, but this time, unselect the checkbox in the Restart dialog that says, "Reopen windows when logging back in". After this normal restart, you can hopefully correct the problem that caused the crash.

My delete button in my to do's closes the app. I've closed all the background running apps and have restarted my phone and even tried syncing to my iTunes. It's driving me nuts. Please help!
Will not complete a sync without crashing and saying cannot read to the device or something to that effect.
That sounds familiar.
Just doublechecking ... have you worked through the suggestions from the following document in the course of your troubleshooting to date?

(The stuff I was worried about in my initial reply has since been documented in its own troubleshooting document. Some of the symptoms of that are covered in: [iTunes for Windows: System restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3441] ) -

How to distribute my windows phone 8 app and windows store app without publishing in the store
any business license or enterprise license needed..
I am a windows developer talking behalf of my company i.e wipro
I have a question about the enterprise license and we are building an app for the limited users i.e our company employees and users and we do not want to publish in the store
How to release the app?
what are licenses etc needed?Hi,
for developers distributing apps without Publishing in the Store, the sideloding Enterprise key license through volume licensing is required.
Starting May 1, 2014, customers who want to enable sideloading will be able to purchase an Enterprise Sideloading key for $100 through the Open License program.
An unlimited number of devices can be enabled for sideloading using this key.

Hi Guys
I recently bought a second hand early 2011 Macbook Pro 15 inch and are having 2 problems. The first is that none of the apps detects my webcam at all, the second is, i have Windows 8 installed on bootcamp but are unable to get the keyboard backlight to work in 7 or 8. The backlight works perfect in os x 10.8.5 though. I need a little bit of help guys.....Go to Apple Menu / About This Mac. Click on More Info ... next on System Report. In the left hand column, under Hardware, select USB. The right side will show the USB Device Tree. Look through that and check for "Built-in iSight". That is your camera. If it is not listed the camera is not working.
For backlighting, try this: go to System Preferences / Keyboard. Uncheck "Adjust keyboard lighting in low light". -
Hi,
Any ideas about the best practices for the migration/upgrade reflected with the below question?
I have a source EBS11i 11.5.10.2 running as a two tier configuration ( apps tier on server ora10 on Windows 2003, DB tier 11.2.0.2 on server ora1 on Windows 8 R2. Can I use the Note 1377213.1 for a migration to a two tier configuration ( apps tier on server T10 running Windows 2008 R2 and EBS 12.2.3 and DB tier running 11.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 R2 )? What alternative approach could you suggest? As far as I know EBS11i is not certified on Windows 2008 R2 and R12.2.0 is not certified on Windows 2003.Yes you can by following "Application Tier Upgrades and Migrations" section -- Install 12.2 apps tier on 64-bit Windows and proceed with the upgrade.

How to create android app from windows app ?
i have windows 8.1 app and windows phone app created by app studio. i want to use these app in android or ios. how can i convert them ?
Hi,
I think there is no way to do this without the effort of programming.
Ether you use a cross-platform tools like Xamarin or you implement your app seperatly for each platform.

For the bugcheck information, please see:
Bug Check 0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
The result shows that The Winlogon process terminated unexpectedly.
The cause is explained as below:
This error occurs when a user-mode subsystem, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), has been fatally compromised and security can no longer be guaranteed. In response, the operating system switches to kernel mode. Microsoft Windows
cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, this is one of the few cases where the failure of a user-mode service can shut down the system.
Mismatched system files can also cause this error. This can occur if you have restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs might skip restoring system files that they determine are in use.
To resolve this issue, you may take a try with the following command:
Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Or you may take a PC refresh.

I recently migrated my extensive library from a Mac authorized with both my and my ex-husband's id's to a Windows 8 machine only authorized with my id. I am finding that a good portion of the apps and tracks are still only authorized by his. How do I find these so I can delete them from my library? Finding them 1 by 1 has been VERY tedious. I have seen a script for the Mac to do this, but no solutions for Windows.
It doesn't sound like the Exchange environment is configured in a manner to support these types of clients very well. Have your Exchange team look at the following
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/26/supporting-windows-8-mail-in-your-organization.aspx
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/10/18/supporting-windows-mail-8-1-in-your-organization.aspx
From the latter article: "Communications applications can connect to a corporate Exchange service
configured to require certificate-based authentication. User authentication certificates can be provisioned to Windows 8.1 devices by administrators or end-users can browse to certificate and install to user certificate storage."
You might want to:
Ask your Exchange team the public URLs (ExternalURL) for Exchange OWA & ActiveSync
Open the OWA URL in your Internet Explorer from your Surface
If you get a Certificate warning, open the certificate and select Install (NOTE: You may have to install the entire certificate chain). Your desktop support team should be able to support this because it is the SAME process for standard Windows 8x
desktops.
Confirm that you can open OWA on your surface with no more certificate or security warnings. NOTE: The Exchange team will have to configured OWA properly.
Once confirmed, repeat the same steps for the activesync URL that they provided.
When done, try using the OWA OR ActiveSync URL value in your settings of your Mail client.

Windows Phone and Windows 8 Mail App not sending email from Reply/Forward
I have recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After a successful upgrade I configured the Windows 8 Mail app to also sync with Exchange (2010 in house server). On my Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 800) I have the same account configured.
This resulted in the problem that the Mail App and the phone do not want to send any emails that have been created by reply or forward.
The phone gives the following error:
"We weren't able to send this message, so we've put it in your Drafts folder. Before you try sending it again, you can check to see if the address is correct and that no attachments are too large."
The Mail App give the following error:
"There's a problem with sending messages from [email protected] at the moment. Check with your provider for more info."
If I create a new email there is no problem.
I have searched all over the internet for a solution to this problem, but could not find somebody with exactly the same problem.I have exactly the same problem, but unfortunately no solution either... I'll be watching this thread, or post a solution if I find one...
