Annoying behavior in Claws

Does anyone know how to get rid of the "Offline Warning" that pops up in Claws Mail? Is there any way to get it to assume it can always connect to the network?

TS5376 iTunes once again won't close. Past versions of iTunes had the most annoying behavior that when ever closed it would immediately reopen. Apple update just installed the latest version and the problem is back. Help.

Past versions of iTunes for Windows had the annoying behavior that it couldn't be closed. If I tried to exit or close the window iTunes would just open back up again. It had gone away, but apple just installed version 11.1.5.5 and it's back! The only way to exit is to open task manager and kill the process. Nothing else seems to work. Guess what Apple, I really don't want to have iTunes open all the time. I think the only answer is to stop using iTunes, since I don't have any Apple devices anyway, and go with a different music player on my PC.

Just in case, we'd better check on another old potential culprit (don't see it reported much lately, though) ... do you have any Logitech gaming software installed on the PC?

Ok, firstly here is my setup. I have two HD's in the PC. One is a SATA 80g (ubuntu) and the other is a IDE ATA 20g (arch)HD. I boot which ever HD by pressing 'esc' when the computer loads, to get a menu from the bios. I then select which ever drive I want to use as the primary drive, this drive then boots. Works fine, I can boot into arch or ubuntu within seconds of restarting the machine.
But, as it seems this has its problems. First annoying behavior, I made a mistake in my menu.lst file so when I rebooted I had a kernel panic. At first I was surprised and didn't get the problem, so I booted into ubuntu. From there I mounted the IDE ATA (arch) device and went to the arch directory /boot/grub/menu.lst, rick clicked and viewed it with sudo gedit. Up pops the ubuntu menu.lst. HUH???? So after getting frustrated here I decided to try the arch fallback option on boot...
So I reboot the pc and 'esc' to select primary drive this time choosing the arch linux HD. It boots as normal and I get the option for fallback, I select this option and the arch linux kernel loads and then the rest starts to happen and all of a sudden I see ubuntu pTTy or something like that. HUH??? ubuntu tty while I am trying to boot into arch??? wtf is going on...
The one thing that I think contributes to the whole mess is how arch sees my IDE ATA drive as /dev/sda. I thought sda was only for sata devices and if so then this is how I suspect the problem is happening. Whats the deal with arch seeing my IDE drive as sata drive????

Any way to change this annoying behavior of Web Dynpro?

When debugging a web dynpro app it always launches the web dynpro app in the last browser window you accessed.
This is different from how debugging behaves with a normal J2EE app. In that case NWDS launches the app in a brand new browser window.
This is extremely annoying and inconvenient. For example, I work remotely a lot and do a lot of meetings over webex-type software. So when I'm showing someone what I'm doing the debugger will automatically "take over" my webex window instead of launching in a separate window.
Is there any way to change this behavior to force each debug session to open in a brand new browser window?

You can do one thing.
If you wan to deploy ur application.
Open a browser window--Deploy new archive and Run.
Dont close the browser, when you wan to deploy it agian,
simple righclick on project--create archive.
simple righclick on project--Deploy.
refersh the earlier browser.

Open Recent, annoying behavior.

On my MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.6 the command Open Recent (File > Open Recent) doesn't work for titles like Pages, Automator, Text Editor... While for other titles is does work: MS Word, MS Exel...
I find this very annoying. On my Power Mac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.11 the command works in all of the above software.
Can anyone help out on this one?

OK, I suspect the problem is a mis-match between your group identity in Leopard, and an obscure temp folder that some programs send files thru, and some don't. I know that Preview does, which is why I asked if it too is acting the same way.
I'm afraid it's been over a year since I dealt with the permission problems I think you might have. See if you can make any sense out of this discussion:

We need to know who you are in UNIX terms. Go to System Prefs/Accounts and select your account. Click the padlock at the bottom and give your password, then Control click on your name in the accounts list and select "Advanced Options"--a pane will slide down with some information in it. Write down the User ID and Group ID. If both numbers are the same, for instance they are both 501, then you still have the old Tiger system for your group. However, if the group ID is 20, then you are a member of the new Leopard standard group of staff.
Next go to the Finder's Go menu and select the "Go to Folder..." option, and type in this (or copy and paste):
/private/var/folders
You will see a list of folders with two character names. One of them will contain your temp folders. Unfortunately you have to check to find out which is yours. The easiest way is to select the first folder in column view, bring up the Inspector window (Command-Option-i), maker sure the Sharing & Permissions section shows at the bottom, then select the folder inside the first folder and see if that belongs to you. If not, check the next two digit folder's sub-folder, and so on. Your temp folder and its sub-folders should have the same group that you belong to in Accounts. Thus, if you are staff, but the folders are showing as the second entry not staff but your user name as the group, then that is your problem. Hope I'm making this clear!

Annoying behavior in Query Designer (formulas and selections moving a lot)

Hi guys,
I hope you can help me with this issue which is very annoying.
We are using SAP GUI 7.10 SP 5.
We have a lot of queries with 2 structures: one in the columns and another one in rows. In each structure we have a lot of Calculated and restricted key Figures in the specific order we need them, some of them nested to simulate navigation, some of them are hidden and some visible. Very frequently when we do any change (add a new key figure, move one specific key figure, copy and insert a key figure, etc.) Some key figures we are not touching change their position in the structure. This is happening to all my team mebers who work in 6 different computers, some in Spanish some in English with different versions of Windows .
At the beginning was not a problem but now that our queries are bigger, make a small change could spoiled sorting of an entire query
Has anyone experience this? I would really appreciate any advice on this issue.

Annoying behavior when opening mail with embedded images

When I open an email that have embedded images within it, I am finding that Mail is always seizing control of the scrolling and is forcing the mail message to return to the top of the page. This happens while I am scrolling though the message and repeats until the message is fully loaded. Does anyone know if there is a work-around or solution to this problem? I find it very annoying, especially if it's a message I don't really care about.

Renaming clips - annoying behavior!!

This is one of those things that is super small but extremely annoying - at least to me. The "return" key and the "enter" key on the numeric pad function differently- when I rename a clip and press "return" it goes to the next clip and wants me to rename it. But if I press "enter" on the numeric pad then the clip is renamed and it doesn't go to the next one. But for me, it makes so much more sense that these would be reversed. Is there a way to swap their functions so that each key does what the other key does?

This is the importance of LOG AND CAPTURE.
First off, don't capture a full tape and name it AWJune_15_2006_tape2. In fact, I think that is a HORRIBLE way to name a tape. WAY too long. I keep mine under 6 characters. This is due to the OLD method of needing to export EDLs, and them having a 6 character limit, but I really like it. For example, on the current show I am working on...Andrew Jackson...I name the tapes AJ001, AJ002...all the way up to AJ102. AJ for ANDREW JACKSON, and 001 for the tape number. 3 spaces because I never know how many tapes I will have.
Second...the logging and capturing part. Don't capture the large chunks and give it all one name. This can cause HUGE issues if you ever media manage the project. You'll end up with 2 to 100 clips called AWJune_15_2006_tape2-1, AWJune_15_2006_tape2-2, AWJune_15_2006_tape2-3...and so on. Messy. No, instead, go thru the tapes and break them up by what you see. By the subject matter...like "British firing cannons," "Tennessee Militia firing guns," Jackson riding horse." And so on.
One exception I have to this is interview tapes. I will capture those as full tapes, and call them "HW Brands-INTVW 1" and so on. Still with the same tape naming scheme...AJ005.
LOG and CAPTURE...I cannot stress this enough.

Annoying behavior - PSE6 sets itself as default for edited files

Greetings. I'm running PSE6 on a Mac. When I edit a file, PSE sets itself as the default program for that file. For example, if I edit and save a jpg, the next time I double-click on that jpg it will open in PSE instead of my default graphics viewer. That's annoying and time-consuming. Is there any way I can configure PSE to stop doing that? Thanks!

Please excuse me, that didn't come out the way I meant it. I wanted to say that:
1) I double-click a jpg and it opens with Xee (or whatever).
2) I edit the file in PSE and do "Save as".
3) When I double-click on the new jpg, it opens with PSE. Other jpgs continue to open in Xee.
So I can't see what Finder has to do with it. When PSE saved the file, it made itself the default program for that file, irrespective of the default program for that type of file.

Mp 620. Very weird and annoying behavior

So the Mp620 used to work fine.. but now it prints fine, but after 1 print it will get an (Output slot is jammed error, or Rear slot is jammed error) when nothing is jammed!! I usually have to turn off the printer, cancel the job, and reprint each page 1 by 1 by repeating this process.. its VERY annoying.. it does this both on my macbook and desktop..

Sounds like you may have a mechanical fault with this printer. I don't think the errors are being caused by anything in the driver. Certainly the only time I have seen the same messages is when paper is jammed. There are a couple of sensors in the unit for paper detection. One or both of these are probably the cause of the messages or you have a fault with the main board.

Why does itunes 10.5 keep opening and how can I stop this annoying behavior?

Has anyone else had this problem and do you know of a solution?

I too have this same gamma switching/ auto contrast error in Quicktime Player and iTunes movie playback and it has been most frustrating for a while now.
For fullscreen video playback it makes both applications completely useless for professional and private use.
I can confirm that when the mouse is moved the effect disappears and the image quality returns to the original state. However this should not be happening and we need to get to the bottom of it for the benefit of others in the future.

Annoying behavior of Server Admin

Sometimes when I'm done using Server Admin, I accidentally hit the close button on the window instead of quitting the application. Instead of the window closing, it just deletes all the servers that I had listed in the window, and the only way to get them back is to go through and add them all again. This is a huge pain. There doesn't even seem to be a way to add favorite servers or anything that I can find. Is there a way around this problem?

Well, let me clarify, if I quit Server Admin instead of just closing the window, it keeps the servers in the list. Only when I close the window does it lose them. However, if I close the window by accident and the servers disappear, I've found that if I then force-quit Server Admin, the servers will reappear when I launch it again.

Annoying Button behavior in Acrobat 9 Pro extended

When I click on the button tool, I usually just want to edit an existing button. However, giant crosshairs cover the whole page and wherever I click, a default-sized button is automatically created... But not until after Acrobat takes about 40 seconds to process the creation of the button. Then a yellow box comes up asking me to name the new button that has just been (forcibly) created. Then I delete the unwelcomed button and I am finally free to do what I wanted to do in the first place -- edit an existing button. Did I accidentally change a setting somewhere to cause this? All the previous versions of Acrobat never assumed my button-tool intentions. Is there any way to get rid of this annoying behavior?

The new way is a bit odd and will take some getting used to. The giant crosshair is probably seen as a help in lining up fields with other things on the page. To edit an existing field, though, try using the Select Object tool, as opposed to the button tool.
Regarding the speed, I'm seeing that too, at least at the beginning of a session. I think it may be related to the fact that Acrobat now loads plug-ins when needed, as opposed to loading them all when Acrobat is launched. Since I usually want to use forms stuff when I open Acrobat, the effect of this is a longer time from launch to when I can begin working.

When I have multiple browser windows open - but in the "minimized" mode - and I want to open up one of them for viewing, ALL of the windows automatically open as well. How do I prevent this annoying function. I cannot find it anywhere in the options.

This does not appear to be a system issue, but rather a functional aspect of the browser windows. E.g., if I have 7 browser windows open to different sites... and all are Minimized, and I decide to open one to study, THEY ALL POP OPEN automatically. I am using Firefox v3.6.8 on Windows 7. This is an annoying behavior of the browser, and I am sure it can be somehow "turned off" but cannot determine how to do that. I have looked through all options. I am not a techie, but have reasonable proficiency with software apps.

This can happen if you drag a tab slightly down in the browser window while clicking.
Firefox has a feature called tear-off tabs
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can also do this via the right-click context menu of a tab: Move to New Window
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

Trackpad Bug in 10.9 (click is delayed, results in strange behavior)

Hi everybody,
Since updating my Macbook (5,1 late 2008, SSD, 8GB-RAM) to 10.9 Mavericks my trackpad behaves buggy in the following way:
When I press down the trackpad with one finger the corresponding "reaction" seems to be delayed (not every but most of the time).
This results in real annoying behavior when you try to select some text with the cursor, or try to move a tab or file etc.
Sometimes, also "tracking" is lost while selecting or drag&drop operation thus resulting in unselected lines of text, or files or tabs lost on drag.
I updated from 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and the described bug has never occurred before the update.
Is this a known bug? Does Apple work on it for 10.9.1? Any suggestions?
