Annoying click every 20 sec on the Satellite Pro

I am getting a regular clicking aprox every 20 seconds from the back right of my satellite pro, any ideas

I also guess the fan blades touch something inside your laptop. (I hope its not the loose bluetooth wire inside your laptop that got caught).
Unless I understood the clicking wrong... Sometimes its the speaker that is causing a clicking when a webpage is refreshing after the timeout call.
Like the strange noise that appears when the "windows search dog" is scratching. Honestly, it took me weeks to locate the source for this noise ;) .

You can -
1 restore
2 reset by holding home button and off button together for like 10 seconds.
3 go to settings>>general>>auto-lock>>choose never (might work..)

How to connect the Satellite Pro P100 to Hifi

I've got Satellite Pro P100. How to connect this notebook to HiFI
This is probably easy, but what can i say... just call me stupid.
I've got the lead that goes out of the headphone jack, it links up to my hifi nice.
Trouble being, there's a nasty hiss in the background. Tried plugging my boys mp3 player into the lead, and that works fine.

In my knowledge you can connect the Sat Pro P100 to HiFi only via a 2-RCA Audio Y cable adapter. In my knowledge the notebook does not support the S/PDIF audio out so you will be able only to use an analog sound port.
You could also buy a stereo adapter with 2x cinch jacks to connect the notebook to the Hifi. Such adapter can be plugged into the headphone jack

I think you should visit the nearest notebook dealer. He can show you the right and supported cables and adapters.

How to install WinXP Pro over W2k on the Satellite Pro 6100?

I have brought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro, Model version SP6100 (PS610E-029ZV-EN), P4 1.7Ghz, 512Mb, 30GB, with Windows 2000 Pro installed.
I cannot get the wireless to connect to my router. The switch is in the correct position.
I have been advised that it could possibly be a conflict between the wireless facility and Win2000 Pro. Therefore I want to change to WinXP Pro using the key supplied with the laptop from new (dual OS). However I can't get it to reformat using an WinXP Pro disk at start up, the disk is ignored and Win2000 Pro loads. If I use the recovery cd (start with holding C down and release when it runs up) something begins which I presume to be an installation sequence however within seconds I see a reference to a z drive(?), a brief display of three rows of "invalid drive specification" and it again loads Win2000 Pro.
Can anyone advise how (or if!) I can reformat?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Possibly its a wrong booting order but usually after pressing the C button the notebook should boot up from the CD.
You said the drive does something and I think the booting from drive was activated but the drive is not able to read from the medium.
For me it sounds like a drive malfunction.
By the way: Check in the device manager if your notebook has installed WLan card. I think you cannot connect to WLan router because the card was not installed. The WLan switch is available because the WLan card is optional for this notebook. You know?

Desktop pic (Wallpaper) Change pic every 5 secs but the odd transition?

Hi, my first post
I have two macs both running 10.3.9. A G4 and G5.
I am using customised wallpaper showing 2x jpegs that change every 5 seconds. looks fab on one machine (the G5) as the transition is graduated into white and back up again, but the other machine (the G4) using the same OS does NOT graduated. It just abruptly switches back and forth with no subtle gradation.
Any ideas?

Graduating the transition is a function of Quartz Extreme, and requires that the computer supports it.

Screen flashes every 3 secs and the finder resets

im on a late 2011 imac and the problem started when i was opening a dmg, before the dmg had finish the finder reset and i cant have acces to the folder with the file that i think is making all this flashing and reseting of the finder, i've even had tried to reset the size of the resolution of the screen and it just flashed and got back to the state it was when the problem started.

I did a "Repair Disk permissions" and that stoped the flashing(there was no sound with the flashing) but i still can not enter to the Applications folder, where the half installed app is, i've even tryed with the
rm -rf ./filename
comand on the terminal and that does not do the trick, reading more i saw some post that said starting the machine in "safe mode" i get the screen with the loading bar but i still cant get to the applications folder. and thats the status right now, ty for the sugestion but i think i need more help!

Strange noise appear every 30 or 40sec in Satellite Pro S

I have a noise or tuc tuc tuc every 30 or 40 seconds in the computer.
I can listen this noise from the Dinamics.

Its difficult to say what could be a source of such noise
Maybe its a cooling module/fan which rotates or maybe its a HDD?
Who knows
Usually the notebook should not make such noises if the HDD develops such noise then you should create an backup of your data because this can be a beginning of the end in worst case your HDD could die and you would loose all files stored on the HDD.

E7 "warning tones" annoying "click" when typing on...

This may not apply to all language versions of the E7, but when typing in Taiwan Chinese, once you've typed in the "Zhuyin" symbols and are given a choice of different Chinese to select, if you scroll down to the Chinese and hit "enter" it will make an annoying "click" every time you select the word. Otherwise, you have to disable warning tones to use the keyboard or use the "number select" method not to hear the "click". I don't see what's the purpose of having a "warning tone" when one is typing and selecting words.

Bluetooth symbol appears every 20 sec

The day before yesterday I bought a new Lenovo IdeaPad U330p without operating system. I already installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Microsoft Office 2013 and some drivers.
Yesterday everything worked properly, but since today there's always a bluetooth symbol appearing (approximately) every 20 sec) on the right side of the screen. It disappears immediately.
It is not possible to click on the symbol, it still disappears.
I consider this very annoying and would like to solve this problem. Does somebody have any tipps?
P.S. I already tried to uninstall the Bluetooth-driver, but it didn't work. After restart they are reinstalled automatically.

I already tried this before, but it didn't work.
But now I found out something new and have to update my problem.
After a little bit of trying and installing and uninstalling of some programs and drivers and rebooting all the time I found out, that the thing that causes BOTH of my problems (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/No-level-shown-when-changing-brightness/m-p... is the Lenovo Energy Cut.
I have no idea how it came, and I can't remember that I installed this program, but i uninstalled it now and the problem with the bluetooth does now no longer exist.
After un- and reinstalling of all the other drivers, you told me, I have a new problem. I now have no change shown at all (I can change the volume and the brightness with the keyboard, but I have no level shown at all, neither at the volume change, nor at the brightness change)..
So I am not satisfied with the solution, not to use Energy Cut, because I want to see, on which level the brightness and volume is.
But I think the problem with the Bluetooth is solved, and I should just consider some solutions in the other thread, because it doesn't affect Bluetooth anymore. So this thread should be closed, shouldn't it?

Satellite Pro 4600 - What is the maximum HDD size?

My aged Satellite Pro 4600 has a 20GB HDD. As these are now very difficult to get hold, does anyone know whether higher capacy HDDs can be used and, if so, what is the maximum size of HDD.
(In spite of it's age I still use the Satellite Pro for certain jobs.)

This is a pretty old notebook, Satellite Pro 4600 ;)
As far as I know this notebook has a 28bit LBA limitation and that means you can only use HDDs up to 128GB or lets say HDD with a capacity of 120GB.

Normally you can every HDD up to 120GB but dont forget that the HDD must have a IDE connector.
I have good experience with Western Digital and Seagate HDDs.

Actually, my problem is that i didnt know how to install the lan driver on my Satellite Pro A120 to connect throug the net.
The issue that theres no installation to do to complete the install.
And theres other issue that i need the Ethernet Controller

Thats very easy to install the LAN driver.
On the Toshiba website you can search for it:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download drivers
Select the right notebook. In your case its the Satellite Pro => Satellite Pro A Series => Satellite Pro A120.
And then choose at operating system Windows XP and at Driver type LAN Driver.
Click on search and you will get the right driver.

Annoying clicking noise inside my iMac

Hi,
I recently bought an iMac 3.06GHz and ever since I got it there has been an annoying clicking noise coming from inside the display. I had read loads of topics of this clicking whilst in sleep mode, or whilst it's doing something else, but literally, as I'm typing now, Safari is the only extra program running on my Mac and it's clicking, then stopping, then clicking some more etc.
I can best describe it as someone running a small stick over a set of small metal railings very fast and a bit more high pitched. If you catch my drift?!
I just can't seem to find a solution on the forums, so maybe I've missed it or something, but any help from you guys would be extremely well received.

You think it's the hard drive? Eek, was hoping I wouldn't get that answer. What's my best option would you say? If I took it to an Apple Store, would they repair it for me? Surely I'm covered. I've only had my iMac since September.

Satellite Pro A300D - What is the model number for the keyboard?

My husband managed to dislodge a keycap on my keyboard, and broke the white scissor clip that holds hit on...(don't ask me how)
He spoke to the authorised service centre here in Norway, and they sent us replacement scissor clips (actually they sent an old non-functioning keyboard) but the clips are of a different design to the ones on my laptop.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the model/serial number of the keyboard used in the Satellite Pro A300D-151 (PSAK9E) so I can get the correct replacement part.
I really don't want to have to replace the whole keyboard when it's just 1 of the scissor clips that is broken...the laptop is only 5 months old.

Sorry buddy but its not possible to exchange some single keys on a keyboard so in this case you must replace the complete keyboard. But normally this should not be so difficult.
Either you exchange the keyboard yourself or you sent the notebook to the authorized service provider.
The model number for the keyboard is not known to me but contact your ASP!! They can order all Toshiba parts and they should know the right part number.

Satellite Pro P100: Is the extended warranty available?

Hi, just about to buy a Satellite Pro P100, however when looking at the warranty I can't see this model on the list of machines covered by the extended warranty available from Toshiba.
Any ideas ?
It makes me slightly nervous if Toshiba don't cover this model for extended warranty.

I believe it's fairly new, however when I go to the Toshiba support page and follow the link for extended warranties it doesnt appear on the list of machines that are covered.
I'm looking to buy this machine as a desktop replacement, however I did read a report on Zdnet Australia which gave reader comments on build quility and reliability which concerned me abit.
