Annoying Issues
I'm running Windows XP Pro on the Mac coming from a Windows background, so I'm finding a couple of things frustrating. If anyone can be of any help with any of the following issues I'd appreciate it!
-when I plug in headphones to watch a DVD, it plays through the headphones but ALSO still through the internal speakers
-the control key only sometimes works
-no delete key (I know there's a backspace...can keys be assigned different values?)
I can't see any way to make my speakers come on when the earphone is plugged in, so I'm not sure about your problem. But one thing that was unexpected to me is that when I mute the speaker (sound stops from speakers) and then plug in the earphones, the sound comes though the phones but the speakers are still muted. Have you tried this-- muting the speakers before pluggin in the earphones?

Oh-- Fn Delete often works like a Windows forward delete-- something I never use.

Reporting annoying issues for the entire Microsoft website (MSDN, forums, all)
Is there any place where I can report bugs with how the Microsoft web sites behave? I can only find forums and "Microsoft Answers" categories about single products that Microsoft makes, but nothing about the infrastructure itself.
For about two weeks now, I am required to log into my account every few hours whenever I access any Microsoft website. This includes MSDN help content, forums, or other resources. I need to login after opening the website through F1 help in Visual Studio
as well as accessing a microsoft.com link from anywhere else like a web search or a direct link from web or an application.
Auto-complete does not work either. My browser (Firefox) does save the password, but it never fills it into the form. Other people have already noticed that
Microsoft applies some dirty tricks here. And even if the login is remembers for a moment, it's slow as hell. It takes a second or two to load the login.live.com page (which is not what I wanted to see), then it sits there for some more seconds before going
anywhere. Other login services like Google or StackOverflow manage to log me in all within one second and most of the time I don't even see it.
And then there's still that insecure SSL-to-non-SSL-submit warning that only occurs in other browsers then IE. Has anybody cared about that in the last couple years?! I'm not getting it now, probably because I'm not logged in anymore. It all slowly falls
apart, piece by piece. Next step is probably losing my data or not loading it at all.
THIS – IS – ANNOYING! And it really makes me feel like I don't want to use Microsoft products anymore (because even good desktop applications are connected to that silly website). I have opened a
Microsoft Connect ticket for a part of this issue (it's grown bigger since then), but this ticket is totally ignored. If microsoft.com went down, they'd certainly care within minutes or hours. This bug is not even regarded in
weeks!
So do I have to write a postal letter to the president of the whole company or do they have support staff for that?! Do they have anybody who is capable of maintaining their website? It's really frustrating how Microsoft has a web presence that is worse
than what our first-year trainees come up with. It's full of bugs and this is currently only the most relevant one. Do they even care about how the world sees them? the only way i can make or receive calls now with my iphone 5 is by using speaker. what can i do to remedy this annoying issue.
If you have the computer that you first setup the phone with iTunes then just connect the phone to that computer via. the USB cable and see if a sync can be done.

Three very annoying issues I'm having with my MacBook Pro... PLEASE HELP!
Alright I received my refurbished *2.4GHz MacBook Pro with 256 Vram* in the mail a few days ago. Since then I've had 3 reoccurring problems that are extremely annoying..
1. *_The MBP will not hold a WiFi connection_*. +The AirPort is always in scanning mode. It'll stay online for a few moments, then it'll disconnect and it just keeps repeating this cycle. I know it's not my router because I've tried it with other ones and it's the same issue each time. I know these don't have as good of range as the MacBook's, but I don't think thats the issue here. This is the most serious of all the problems, so any help would be appreciated!+
2. *_The MBP will not always load up after being in sleep mode_*. +I've read this is a common issue, but have yet to find a solution. This happens when I wake the computer up from sleep mode. The screen just stays black, but you can hear the SuperDrive boot up. It does load after a minute or two, but it is still extremely annoying. I've read it might have to do with the keyboard firmware update?+
3. *_At random times the computer will drastically slow down and become very "jumpy"_*. +This is an odd issue I haven't seen anywhere else. Its happened twice now and pretty much the computer slows down and the cursor becomes very jumpy and not smooth. I have checked iStat and it says I have plenty of resources left, so there's no reason it should be slowing down. I did install 4 gigs of RAM in it, but the computer reads it fine and I installed it correctly. I doubt that's the issue, but figured I'd throw it out there.+
Sorry for the long thread, but these are really messing things up. This is my first Mac and I'm hoping these can all be easily solved. Should make a Genius Bar appointment? Thanks again!I probably can't help much since I've never had these issues myself, but I will try.
How did you do your installation? For a new machine, many users recommend erasing and reformatting and doing an erase and install, which will allow you to deselect all the languages and printer drivers that you will never use. I don't know if this is absolutely necessary, but I have always done it.
Have you repaired permissions? You do this with Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder. You want to repair permissions both before and after installing any software. This is just good practice which will prevent many software glitches.
Concerning Airport, there was a recent software update which was supposed to fix some of the problems people were having. Download it if you haven't already. If that doesn't resolve the problem, it's probably worth taking it to the genius bar. My MBP does a remarkable job of holding a connection. It will even pick up a signal from the router across the street and hold it. There may be a configuration problem or something like that with yours.
My display wakes up right after the superdrive makes its noise. In just a few seconds. I don't know why yours should be taking so long.
As for the cursor freezing, I had that problem at first when I was running the Tiger 10.4.10 it came with, along with a number of sleep issues. It seemed like it would try to go to sleep and then freeze, as if it was not recognizing an activity as an activity. But the upgrade to Leopard took care of all of those problems.
I assume that your MBP shipped with Leopard, or at least with an upgrade disc to Leopard. If you happen to still be on Tiger, you might try going to Leopard and doing all the updates.
Otherwise, the genius bar might be your best bet. Probably faster than the forums anyway.

Swift keyboard; annoying issue with Facebook
Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is something for the forum so apologise in advance if this is the case.
My only main gripe with the Swift keyboard is when it's on and you enter someone's name to tag for someone reason when you hit enter it removes the tag, you have to turn back to the normal keyboard to avoid this.
It's very annoying - can anyone help at all ?

Why are the characters mixed up in the session?
This issue can occur if the keyboard language has been switched on the remote PC while running a remote desktop session. In the case you would like to switch to a different keyboard language follow these instructions.
Important
The remote PC selects the system language of the device running the remote desktop client and not the keyboard language. When switching the keyboard language on your device, you need to manually switch the keyboard language on the remote PC.
Open settings on your device.
Tap General and then tap International.
Tap Language and select the language running on the remote PC.
Open the RD Client and connect to the remote PC and check if the Windows keyboard language matches the language that you selected.

Create New Message / Forward message annoying issue
I am trying to fix my mom's iphone 5 (ios 6.0.2).
Every time she tries to create a new message (sms), the text field is not empty (previously typed message a long time ago) when creating a new message.
Or when she tries to forward a message, the message is not copied in the text field. The previously typed message replaces the message to forward.
I have no idea how she did it, so i can't reproduce the problem.
i have searched for this issue in this site, and i have found a few similar posts that were not addressed.
Can anyone help me? This issue is quite annoying.

update:
1.resetting the settings did not fix it
2.erasing settings to new phone did fix it
3.restoring from back-up, the problem went back. -
I have had my Droid Razr since March 2012. It worked great at first, but every since the beginning of this summer I have had multiple issues. They're no big deal on their own, but all together this is getting very annoying.
These issues include:
- Play Music deleting ALL my music, and it will NOT sync with my computer to re-load it all
- The shortcut on the lock screen when music is playing shows when I'm not playing any music
- The keyboard becomes "possessed" at times which I've read is an issue for others, it will do this no matter what app I'm typing on whether it's texting, Facebook, or email
Are these issues easy to fix on my own (note: I'm good with technology but not in any way an expert), or should I bring it to the Verizon store and have them try to fix it? Would it be easier to just upgrade my phone even though I'm not eligible until March '14?@robert0424,
Sounds like you're phone needs a time out! Let's get your phone acting right.
Did you notice these issues started after downloading a certain app? Try running the phone in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1h8NRyy and see if you notice an improvement.
If the issues stop then it's a 3rd party app causing the issues. In this case you will need to remove all the apps and add them back one at a time to determine which one is causing the problems.

Hi everyone
I am really sad about Apple's iOS 7, which I am really angry about some bugs. I'm using iOS 7.0.4 on my iPhone 5S 64 GB, and I had 2 big issues:
1- When I go to Voice Memos, it takes about 10 seconds to load, and when it loads, when you touch something (let's say to play a record) it crashes and interrupts recording and/or my work.
2- Sometimes when I capture a photo, I check them in the left corner at the bottom of camera application, and it got stuck and nothing to do except hard reboot which closes all my tasks that I need, and I lose my work.
I don't have jailbreak, I never jailbroke, and when I bought it was on 7.0.3 which I updated to 7.0.4 using OTA update. Please fix this issue, because I was never thinking of a single problem after I bought your new devices, I wasn't going to expect this. I hope this problem is gonna get fixed in 7.1 after so much work and design on iOS 7. I don't know if I can post my diagnosis and usage error here (I didn't check but these problems should be logged there right? And is it for the own phone which shows some private information about the phone which I shouldn't show it here to public?).
ThanksThis is actually my father's phone, he has about 1900 contacts, many pictures, and he can't restore at least set up as new. And by the way, how you know it is not iOS 7 bug? Are you a beta tester? Do you have a proof for this? And after 2 processors do you think it is hardware or other problems? Do you think I am wrong because it didn't happen for you? Maybe you don't use camera or view pictures as much as my father works with them. And if Apple makes a new OTA update technology, it should work fine, at least after 2 iOSs (from iOS 5 to 7). I'm waiting for an Apple beta tester to answer my question.

Ever since I made the mistake of moving to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5s, whenever I use Siri to place a phone call, I get "Just to confirm, you want to call <enter name>?" It's driving me crazy! I've resorted to disabling Siri and just using the native Voice Control, which works flawlessly for making phone calls, but not so well for other functions. I tried wiping my phone and restoring from a backup, but no luck with that. Apple doesn't seem to want to help since it's not a widely reported issue. I've also noticed that incoming calls don't connect on my car's bluetooth, when that was never a problem. Also, outgoing calls no longer make any sounds. i never know if the call dropped, the phone bricked, or the call was answered unless the other person says something. If only I could go back to iOS 7!!!
I, too, had been suffering through Siri's relentless need to confirm calls that recently she (heh!) just called.
Applecare support told me to backup and restore from that backup. I balked at the need to spend so much time reloading my music and docs, and also asked what good would it do to replace the phone's data with a copy of what was there after the problems began.
"Good question." was the reply. No answer, though.
I told her I had to go, hung up, turned Siri off and back on, and the problem disappeared. It's been nearly 72 hours and all's well.
Of course, YMMV, but it's painless and worth a shot.
I hope it works for you, too. And I hope Apple will better train their advisors to give more informed advice.

How to disable audio output in while in sleep mode? (annoying issue)
I have a my workstation set up in my bedroom and when I am not using it I put it to sleep (or wait for it to go to sleep deu to inactivity). The problem is that when its asleep the audio output is still active. So when I get emails and such the speakers still emit the notification/alert sounds even though my computer is in sleep mode. This is really annoying since I work with offshore teams and they send me email in the late night and early morning (when I am sleeping). I can't seem to find a setting to change that. Any ideas?
My set up is as follows:
17 macbook pro (early 2011)
OSX 10.9.4
Connected to a 27" thunderbolt display

Esquared - Thanks for the link. The only thing I see in the logs is when I woke up my computer this morning. But all morning (before I woke my computer) I was hearing a bunch of alerts/notification. Here's a look at the log query I did. -
I have to work with a lot of pdf's, and I prefer the use of preview (it's quick and simple). But a lot of pdf's that have boldface font don't show up right in preview. In Reader, they show up as bold. In Preview, the font style of the word changes (looks really awkward, and doesn't stick out as well as bold). Does anyone else have this issue, and is there a way to fix it?
Also, if I'm working with a word document, and I save it as a pdf, I get the same issue. All words in boldface don't retain said boldface in Preview, but they are fine in Reader.Are there specific fonts that cause this problem? Usually it is a font issue.

Annoying issue with "special characters"
I need to produce these special characters:

and
ø
Now ofcourse I can copy and paste to get them, but after writing them to a file, they don't produce the same character, if that doesn't make sense I'll try to clear it up. I run a windows game through wine, and in the configuration file I need to use special characters in my name, they look fine in the editor, after I write the file, then go in game, the characters are completely different. Which is quite annoying. Is there anyway I can get these to truely be the character I want on linux?

Pause feature - When leaving a show paused for 20 minutes (way too soon in my opinion) it will stop pausing and jump ahead TO REAL TIME (boy this annoying when pausing the hockey game to put the kids to bed and being surprised at the new score!) Is there a way to stop this or adjust the amount of time it will keep the pause?
Skip feature - with DirecTV I was able to skip a series of 30 second intervals. So, for example I could hit the skip button 6 times and it would skip ahead 3 minutes. With FiOs, I not only can I not do this, I can't even hit the skip buttong right away after it skips, I have to skip, wait a couple of seconds, skip again, and repeat. If I hit the skip button immediately agan it won't skip.
When I press the power button it turns both my TV and STB off or on. Problem is, my kids will play Wii and turn the TV off manually, leaving the STB on and the TV off, so when i hit power I turn one off and the other on. Is there a way to make it not turn both on/off wat the same time?

Three annoying issues we would like to know how to fix
Three issues with our new iMac that we would like to know how to fix:
1. Sometime (not always) when we shut it down it restarts instead.
2. Sometimes (not always) the display won't sleep.
3. Time Machine keeps asking us if we want to use an external drive for backup. We say no. We don't even have Time Machine on so why does it keep asking us this?
Can you tell us please how to fix any of these issues?

Try resetting both the SMC and the PRAM.
Reset the PRAM
• (Re)start the computer
• Immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys
• Wait for two startup chimes
• Release the keys and allow the computer to boot.
Reset the SMC
• Shut down the computer.
• Detach the computer's power cord.
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Reattach the computers power cable.
• Turn on the computer.

Then try to display Hyperdraw velocity
Note that the 'Articulation ID" option has disappeared ;-)
