Annoying reset to home page

often, my iphone will reset on its own to the home page (i'm not pressing the home page button at the bottom)....this occurs while i'm using safari, mail, ipod, or any other application for that matter....
has anyone else experienced this as well? the only thing i could attribute this to is that when i'm using the internet (for safari, googlemaps, email, etc...), and either the EDGE network or the wifi network that i'm on temporarily boots me out, like when you loose a cell phone signal....
just wondering if this has happened to anyone else....
other than that, i've been using my ipod now for 3 days: battery life is excellent, features amazing, even better than expected signal/coverage...a wonderful device! the only complaint i have is that the voice quality is not the best....
-thanks!

You may have already seen this elsewhere in the forum, but if not:
some people have had success with the Reset iPhone and Reset Settings as described on this page:
http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/troubleshooting/phone/
I was having problems with the iPod cutting out whenever I started looking at photos. Maps and Photos would both suddenly close, as well. Since I did the Reset Settings (without deleting media), it has been OK. I did not do the Reset iPhone, personally.
I cannot say this is a long-lasting fix since I only did it a few hours ago, but hopefully it will help.

  • How can I delete bearsearch from my media toolbar (and Firefox in general)? It's acting like a virus and not letting me reset my home page.

My grandson visited the BearShare website. Since then, the only home page that will "stick" in Firefox is http://search.bearshare.com. Repeated attempts to reset my home page have failed. After I reset the home page and close Firefox, when the program is restarted, the home page is, once again, http://search.bearshare.com.
I notice that BearShare is listed on my Media Toolbar. How can I delete this item?

  • Cannot reset default home page IE7

    X61S  Vista SP1 IE7 Norton 360 1.0
Cannot change default home page.  Default page is garbage URL I entered by mistake
    http://http//
So when I start IE7 it throws an error "Can't find this" and then works fine thereafter.
If I change default to "about:blank" it is ok for the IE7 session but does not persist.  The next time I start IE7, it is back to the garbage URL  http://http//
Norton chat cannot tell me if Norton 360 is blocking my attempt to reset the home page.  It is not a problem of redirection of the home page.
Haven't been able to find string http://http// anywhere.
    Solved!

    You're welcome.
As far as a performance comparison goes, if there is one I have absolutely no idea. I will say this much; in my experience the ThinkVantage Technologies are good and they work, [can of worms just opened], I particularily like Access Connections.
If you are new to them then read up on them in Access Help or in the web, you will find masses of differing opinions.

  • Can't get to overflow apps after my kids accidently removed all folders by resetting the home page.  How do I get to the so I put the back into folders?

Help please.  Need to access apps that are beyond the last pge so I can put them back in folders.  My kids accidently reset the home page and all the apps I use as an slp are scattered or can only be accessed if I can recall the name of the app.  I tried to reinstall so it would appear and no go.  Help!

    Two options:
    1. Restore from backup
    2. Recreate the folders maually.

  • FF4.0.1 keeps resetting my home pages

I have 3 home pages set, and every couple of days FF resets the home page to the first one only. It also loses some of my book marks, and manages to "forget" history and downloads. It is up to date and set to update automatically. I have had to do a couple of backup restores to get everything working as I like it. Not major, just a plain nuisance. The only consolation is that IE 8 and 9 are even worse! It also uninstalls some of my add-ons without notice, despite there being no stated conflicts. Its like it suddenly reverts to when I first installed version 4 and removes every modification made since then! I've had no end of trouble since I installed, then uninstalled, the beta. I have re-installed FF4 several times since, using a backup made prior to installing the beta to replace my add-ons and preferences, until it corrupted some of those files. Apart from this it runs smoothly. does not freeze, though it gets a bit slow at times, but start up is getting slower day by day!

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Yesterday I opened "Options" for the first time in FF4 to reset my home page. Now, Options loads ITSELF into a new tab sporadically, spontaneously. What gives?

I had entered a custom home builders company page, which wouldn't load properly, but made a bunch of changes to my registry. I successfully ran CCleaner to clean up the registry, but when I loaded FF the site that caused me problems was now my new home page. I opened Options to reset home page to what it was before. That operation succeeded, but now every time I run FF, Options opens up spontaneously in a new tab.

Hi again, I solved the problem! :)
    I deleted 2 files
    user.js
    prefs.js
    and bingo, all is well.

Limewire is a major source of malware for computers, even Macs.
If you allow a Trojan to be installed, the user's DNS records can be modified, redirecting incoming internet traffic through the attacker's servers, where it can be hijacked and injected with malicious websites and pornographic advertisements. The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's (that's you!) DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.
You can read more about how, for example, the OSX/DNSChanger Trojan works here:
    http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojanosxdnschanger.shtml
SecureMac has introduced a free Trojan Detection Tool for Mac OS X. It's available here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
The DNSChanger Removal Tool detects and removes spyware targeting Mac OS X and allows users to check to see if the trojan has been installed on their computer; if it has, the software helps to identify and remove the offending file. After a system reboot, the users' DNS records will be repaired.
(Note that a 30 day trial version of MacScan can be downloaded free of charge from:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/buy/
and this can perform a complete scan of your entire hard disk. After 30 days free trial the cost is $29.99. The full version permits you to scan selected files and folders only, as well as the entire hard disk. It will detect (and delete if you ask it to) all 'tracker cookies' that switch you to web sites you did not want to go to.)
Stop using LimeWire. LimeWire (and other peer-to-peer sharing applications and download torrents) are hotbeds of potential software issues waiting to happen to your Mac. Everything from changing permissions to downloading trojans and other malicious software can be acquired from using these applications. Similar risks apply to using Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube and similar sites which are prone to malicious hacking: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8420233.stm
Resist the temptation to download pirated software. After the release of iWork '09 earlier this year, a Trojan was discovered circulating in pirated copies of Apple's productivity suite of applications (as well as in pirated copies of Adobe's Photoshop CS4). Security professionals now believe that the botnet (from iServices) has become active. Although the potential damage range is projected to be minimal, an estimated 20,000 copies of the Trojan have been downloaded. SecureMac offer a simple and free tool for the removal of the iBotNet Trojan available here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/files/iServicesTrojanRemovalTool.dmg
Also, there is the potential for having your entire email contact list stolen for use for spamming:

  • Safari Resets.  Home page and toolbar keep resetting, how do i stop it?

I change my home page and set up my Tool Bar with only the buttons I need.
However, next time I start my MAC or start Safari, the settings revert back to before with Apple as home page.
I have McAfee AV installed, could this be the cause?
Im on Mac OS 10.8.3 and Safari 6.0.4

    Yes it could be
I'd remove it completely, then test.

  • After resetting my home page, the directions say to hit "yes" to complete the action. where do I find the yes?

trying to change home page, the instructions say to hit yes. where is the yes

Did not know that you could '''drag''' the '''location bar favicon''' to the '''home page toolbar icon''' to change the home page, but as the directions in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page] say you would reply "Yes" to the pop-up, which reads "Set Home Page" on it's title bar.
Those are the first directions on that page and it not the same as the second method which has 6 steps the last of which is "Ok".

  • How can I rest Firefox 4 becasue when I reset the home page to my site, it operates once correctly and then falls back into a series of five different ages strung together. no matter what I do.

I have opened the options and removed the string of addresses. I have removed the sessionstore files. When I enter any site address as the home page, close Firefox, and reopen it, Firefox opens to the correct page. If I close it and reopen it, it has the series of web pages in the home page block in the Options menu.
I have found that putting a blank page in the home page choice, will open a blank page, but the same string of characters appears in the Options menu home page block.

  • How can I stop the Mozilla Firefox Start Page from taking over my computer. I have reset the home page a half dozen times.

For the past month, every time I open Firefox, the Mozilla Start Page (with Google in the middle) takes over my home page setting (NY Times). How can I stop this from happening?

To the extent that I could, I tried the above, despite the lack of clarity at times. For example, how do the uninitiated find "sessionstore.js" and "sessionstore.bak" and the Firefox profile folder? Assuming that I eventually find them, what in the world does "check for problems" mean?
There are many of us out here with limited to moderate computer sophistication, and more detailed suggestions would be much appreciated. I am in the moderate to high category, but much of your response was marginally useful, to be kind. Not to say that I don't appreciate what you have written.

  • Resets to home page during slide show

I was using the Apple TV today to make a presentation on a big screen TV, by putting the slides on Mobile me and accessing on the Apple TV.
But after a certain time (2-4 mins) the Apple TV drops the slide showing and returns to the first menu page. I then have to navigate again to the slides and continue. Gives a poor impresion...

There are a number of variables here, the WiFi is from a MiFi connected to a 3G network. Both Apple TV and iPad or iPhone are conneted.  I have tried showing the slides from both my iPad and iPhone using Airplay and all is OK. I have not tried from my MacBook.
Tends to imply it is related to the internet connection? Does Apple TV have any kind of reset that regularly trips in?

  • My home page has been replaced by something called searchq. No matter what I do, I cannot reset my home page to the site I wish. This is making me nuts. Searchq keeps overwriting the setting. What is going on? What is this website?

the full url that is interferring with my work is:
    searchqu.com/406

I did some more reading on the forum and found one suggestion that showed where in the program list I could uninstall searchqu. I had uninstalled iLivid and removed searchqu from Firefox but there was still a bit lurking under Windows - Searchqu in the program list. I simply uninstalled that and it fixed the problem. Thanks for your time...
