Annoying Start-up Dialog

Hi all!
I have a UMAX Mac Clone S900 which is essentially a Power Mac 9500, Machine ID 67. Installed is a Sonnett G3 processor card running at 470 MHz.
I have tried to install OS 9.2.2 but get a dialog which states that it can not run on this machine.
The machine runs fine except for two issues:
1. The mouse performs sluggish (the mouse is the original UMAX, adb mouse). It is clean but does not perform smoothly. My assumption is that should be replaced since I have fiddled with the mouse dialog and it does not help. I can deal with this since I also have a WACOM tablet installed which works without incident.
2) I get a continual dialog after the Finder launches and the Desktop appears. It states:
The application "Finder" has unexpectedly quit.
You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer.
Even after restarting the dialog continually appears. Nothing happens to the computer. I can close the dialog and continue to work.
I have rebuilt the desktop, ZAPed the PRAM, etc. but to no effect.
I also have DiskTop where I can trash the DesktopDB files for a more complete rebuild, but, again, nothing.
The only thing I have not done was run DiskWarrior or TechTool.
Any suggestions or insights? this machine is my "OS9 Slave" since I no longer run OS9 on my G4. I have installed all my vintage OS9 Apps like PageMaker, Freehand, Photoshop, etc. for file translation, etc. and it still performs like a champ in spite of the two issues described.

Try also trashing these preference files, then restarting -
Finder Preferences
Mac OS Preferences
Mouse Preferences
System Preferences
Afterwards you may need to redo some settings in Finder's Preferences and in the Appearance and Mouse control panels.
The inability to install OS 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 (the first must be installed before the second can be) is probably because the machine does not have a native G3 or G4 processor. From the Apple page for the OS 9.2.1 download update -
"...for Macintosh systems that are based on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor."
The fact that you have installed a G3 processor upgrade does not change the fact that your machine did not originally have a G3 processor - the installer checks the machine ID, which is not changed by a processor upgrade.
There is a solution which may work with your clone: use a utility such as OS 9 Helper, which can be got from here -
OS9Forever.com Home Page
Note that that utility requires the use of the OS 9.2.1 download update; it can not be used with an OS 9.2.1 Install CD.
It would be good to have at least 256MB RAM when running later versions of OS 9; according to MacTracker, your S900 can use up to 1.0GB of RAM.

ActiveX controls disappear when VI is loaded in a Sub-Panel with Start Modal Dialog usage

Hi,
I have a subpanel in a VI (VI1) in which another VI (VI2) is loaded. VI1 is used as a module for an Action step in TestStand. VI2 has ActiveX controls like ExpressionEdit and Adobe PDF reader etc. VI1 loads VI2 in a sub-panel and calls Start Modal Dialog.vi. I have set 'Show front panel when called' to true for VI1 so that the VI pops up when the sequence is run. When the sequence runs and when the Start Modal Dialog VI is called from VI1, all ActiveX controls in VI2 (loaded in the sub-panel) disappears. Here is the screenshot of the frontpanel of VI1 when the sequence is run:
This problem occurs in TestStand 4.2.1, TestStand 2010 and TestStand 2010 SP1 (as far as I have tested. May occur in older versions too). In the attached file, VI1 is 'ExprEdit Test.vi' and VI2 is 'SubpanelLoad.vi'. The attached sequence is developed in TestStand 2010 SP1.
How can this issue be solved?

An update on this issue: I tried changing the order of loading the VI in the SubPanel and the start modal dialog. I called start modal dialog and then loaded the VI (VI2) in the SubPanel. When I ran the sequence, the activeX controls did not disappear (I was pretty sure that the ActiveX controls in VI2 would not disappear since I am calling Start Modal Dialog before loading the VI in the Subpanel). Then I just changed the sequence of operations back to the previous order (loading the Subpanel with the VI and then calling the Start Modal Dialog). When I ran the sequence, the activeX controls where still displayed. But when I ran the sequence with the VI1 backup (that I had taken before making all these modifications) the activeX controls were not displayed. I a nutshell, I now have 2 versions whose codes are the same. But when I run the sequence with action steps for these VIs, the activeX controls disappear when the unmodified backup VI runs and does not disappear when the modified VI is run. I have attached the files that I used along with the sequence file. The details are as follows:
ExprEdit Test (Not Working).vi - The unmodified backup VI for which the ActiveX controls disappear.
ExprEdit Test (Working).vi - The modified VIs in which the ActiveX Controls do not disappear (But same code as ExprEdit Test (Not Working).vi).
ExpreEdit Test.seq - The sequence file containing 2 action steps one each for theabove mentioned VIs.
SubpanelLoad.vi - The VI that contains activeX controls and is loaded in the SubPanel.
Note that the sequence is created in TestStand 4.2.1.

We were trying to deploy HP's Port Aggregaton for 2 LAN cards, changes that were made were
1. Install the HP UX software patch fo the APA teaming LIcense.
2. Connected to a NORTEL Switch.
3. No application level changes done, except for some profile parameters that were changed, which I've reverted back and tried but to no luck
Execution of the command - dpmon -p pf=EEP_D21_r3app3 gave the output as below

You could do the following:
1) Create an event variant (i think it was SM63 or something like that)
2) write a short abab program that raises an event (see example)
*& Report start chain
REPORT start chain.
CALL FUNCTION 'RSSM_EVENT_RAISE'

 i_eventparm = 'your variant'
* EXCEPTIONS
* BAD_EVENTID = 1

Java web start security dialog with Java 7 update 51

I build a Java Web Start application signed with a valid certificate.
When I star the application the security dialog appear correctly as show in this figure

My issue is about the "do not show again" checkbox.
If the attributes href are present in the jnlp tag of the jnlp file the checkbox appear.
If the attribute are not present, the checkbox doesn't appear and the run needs to be confirmed every time.
(Example:

This is a problem because my jnlp file is under a password protected directory and if href is specifed, the Java Web Start application try to retrieve it as the other resources. ( result in access denied because only the browser session is authenticated and the run fails)

The codebase and href attributes are optional when deploying Java Web Start applications that will run on at least the Java SE 6 update 18 release or later. You must specify the codebase and href attributes when deploying Java Web Start applications that will run with previous releases of the Java Runtime Environment software.
What is the right code? With href or without?
Is this a BUG or a feature?
How can I show the "don't show again" checkbox without having to specify the href attribute?

Executing a JAVA program from a DOS prompt vs the START = RUN dialog

Another novice programmer question...I hope you have the patience...
I have a demo JAVA program that runs fine on my Windows PC when I execute it from a DOS prompt:

Count is: 10Can I run this same command from the Windows START => RUN dialog? If I cut an paste the same command, 'K:\COMMON\ITS\STEVEB\java\WhileDemo>java WhileDemo', into the START => RUN dialog I get the following error:
"Windows cannot find 'K:\COMMON\ITS\STEVEB\java\WhileDemo>java WhileDemo'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button and then click Search."
Is what I'm attempting to do even possible? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Will a .JAR keep the window from closing on exit? Nope... creating java-archives (jar's) is just the next step down the "how to publish my java application" road. You will eventually (almost certainly) need to progress that far... but there's no rush.
Compiling to and running from class files will do for now.
If you want a command prompt which stays open then open it yourself... Start ~ run: cmd (on NT, XP, Fista)

Annoying iTunes Security Dialog

Every time I open iTunes on my new Mac mini I get the security dialog box asking me if I want to allow it to accept incoming connections from the Internet.
It's listed as an allowed app in the advanced firewall settings and I have removed it and re-added it a couple of times already, as well as run repair disk permissions, but the problem continues unabated.
Does anyone know how to resolve this annoying problem?

Start Server dialog wont close

I have reconfigured the 'Start Server' command in weblogic to point to my server.
I click on the 'Start Server' command and it starts my server but then the dialog
box saying that it is trying to start the server never closes (even though the
server is up and running properly). I also tried starting the server from the
command line (and it starts) but workshop never realizes that it is open. Please
help...

Okay, I cleared all the files in my "Documents and Settings/user" directory, reset
my preferences and I still have the same problems as I described them in my last
update.

PLEASE HELP...ANNOYING START UP MESSAGE

I recent bought my Mac Book. I was trying to install a printer driver for my printer, and didn't realize that I did not need to. My printer works fine, but every time my computer starts up I get this message after login... *The application LOGINserver quit unexpectedly*... It asks to ignore, report and relaunch...i have tried all 3. Please help me get rid of this message.

You could trying checking in the Login Items to see if it installed something there. Go to System Preferences -> Accounts (under System) -> Login Items. If you recognize your printer name on something in there, highlight it and click the minus button.

We thought about the situation and came to the conclusion, that with the 720 DCK the restriction of only starting/stopping IBM I remote instances with one STARTSAP/STOPSAP call can be dropped.
The new note 1644051 will describe what to do.
Here is a short summary:
You have to apply the 720 DCK to all instances of your SAP system following note 1636252. Also follow this note to obtain info when 720 DCK will be available for all SAP Systems newer than SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ("7.00") without restrictions.
You have to apply at least the 720 dw patch #67 to all instances (all platforms).
You have to apply at least the 720 ILE Patch #111 (I think this will be the number, but for the official number wait for note 1644051) to all IBM I hosted instances.
Of course the first stack kernel available after complete 720 DCK availability will contain all patches needed.
Please remove any additional stuff from the START profile which you added to start/stop remote windows Instances along with your central Instance.
Then you can call
STARTSAP SID(<sapsid>) INSTANCE(ALL) INSTHOST(ALL)
STOPSAP SID(<sapsid>) INSTANCE(ALL) INSTHOST(ALL)
to start and stop really all instances out of the box.

Start "Create Document" dialog

Hi all,
is it possible in a Excel-In-Place planning layout to start the dialog to create a new document without pressing the button.
Instead of pressing the "create document" button I would rather start an Exit-Function, because here I can change variables, etc.

Sorry, I think I didn't describe my problem well enough.
The planer is working on a extra Excel worksheet. All data he is entering will be transferred via macro into the right field of the SEM-BPS Excel worksheet, so that the data is saved in SAP.
Of course this doesn't work with adding a document. So, I am searching for a function to start this dialog with ABAP-Code. In the code I can assign the write field, which is not visible for the normal planer.
Perhaps you know how to start this dialog via ABAP?

Remote App, Printer properties opens behind redirect dialog box

We noticed an issue in July 2013 with all redirect printers using RemoteApps on Server 2008R2.
When you clicl on File>Print and sleclt properties, the dialog box is opening behind the Windows windows telling you the printer has been redirectd by RDC. You can see the Printer Preferences and the only way to bring the window the front is
to click on the Window Title bar of the window.
I've seen others posting the same issue, but I haven't seen a resolution.

I had the same problem in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
I downloaded the fix KB3036965
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3036965
and installed it on 2 test pc who had the problem. After I Installed the hotfix I worked.
But as Shimon Adimor say’s it is very annoying with the dialog box that appears, that informs you that the printer has been redirected. The KB3036965
does not fix this dialog. So if there is some solution to disable this dialog box it would be nice.

Hi all again,
I had the same problem and found a solution for it.
I made two steps to start the dialog instance successful. First I modified the NLS_LANG setting in the registry and enviroment (only if necessary). Second, I fetched the last Oracle Instant Client OCL10264.sar from SAP Net and extract the file to E:\usr\sap\PDV\SYS\exe\nuc\NTAMD64 (This directory was created through the Installer. The Kernel lies under E:\usr\sap\PDV\D20\exe)
Now I changed the variable DIR_CLIENT_ORAHOME = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE) to
DIR_CLIENT_ORAHOME = E:\usr\sap\PDV\SYS\exe\nuc\NTAMD64 in the Instance Profile of the new Dialog Instance. So the Kernel knows that he has to use the Oracle Instance Client and the profilevariable says where he found it.
After these modifications the Dialog Instance starts with success.

New Dialog Instance Installation PXA_NO_SHARED_MEMORY Error

I am running SAP ECC 6.0 on HP_UX 11iv2 and oracle10g. Central instance and database installed on different servers.
I have two other dialog instances running but I have installed another dialog instance as restore from other existing dialoginstance.. I have completed the restore activity and changess in profiles and aal that.
but when I start this dialog instance then it giving large no.of dumps as PXA_NO_SHARED_MEMORY.

Spotlight not working properly in Save and Save As dialog boxes

When I'm in any program and I go to the "Open Files" dialog box, I can use the spotlight search to search for files by name or by content, and it works fine. However in the "Save File" and "Save File As" dialog boxes, spotlight will only find folders by name. It will not find any files by name or by content in the current folder or anywhere else. It will only show any folders who's name is a match for what I type.
I spoke to Apple support who suggested that I reindex my drive, which I did, but it didn't help. Their next suggestion is to reinstall the OS, which I'm not going to do. By the way, I have a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro which both exhibit the same behavior, so it appears to be a problem with the OS itself. They are both running 10.6.1. I booted up in safe mode and had the same problem.
Any ideas?

If you want to report this to Apple, either send Feedback or send bug reports and enhancement requests via its Bug Reporter system. To do the latter, join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure over submitting feedback is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.
