Annoying white flash in LR 5.5 when changing settings or crop

After upgrading to Lightroom 5.5, I am seeing a very annoying flash in the cropping area whenever I change the crop or apply a adjustment or preset. It's very distracting and is new to LR 5.5. The image very briefly is shown larger and then snaps to the correct size. Is anybody else seeing this?
I attached a screen movie of this behavior. You can see the screen flash whenever I change the exposure using various presets.

I see it when applying presets, but not when changing the crop. But I'm on a PC running Win 7.

Also, you could apply your presets when you are not in "crop mode".

I am currently working on a catalyst project whereby the buttons pressed play different sections of an animation. My problem is that the animation flashes white for a split second in between pressing the button and the video playing. Does anyonyone know how to eliminate this white flash? Yes to follow up Ben, I'm experiencing the exact same problems as him. I changed browser to Firefox 3.0.11 a couple of months ago and hence downloaded the Flash plugin for Firefox. I noticed the issue straight away in Youtube, but not on other sites. As I attributed the problem to Firefox, I then downloaded Opera 9.64 - but experienced the same problem. This led me to believe the issue was the Flash plugin, as both browsers are served by the same Adobe plugin for 'alternative browsers' to IE.
I then tried IE6 again in youtube and it didn't have the problem on standard view, however the problem was (and still is) occurring in full screen view. I'm nearly 100% sure this problem didn't occur before I downloaded the Flash plugin for Firefox / Opera. Regardless of whether that is the issue, the problem was definitely not happening on my system in IE6 earlier this year.
As Ben said, my computer is fairly old but well managed and up to date. OS is Windows 2000 SP4, system is AMD Athlon 900 (slot A), 512 Mb RAM, 16Mb Voodoo 3 graphics, m/board MSI MS-6191.
I've also tried removing the Flash plugin for Firefox/Opera and for IE6 and reinstalling it but had no joy there either. I would try an updated version of IE too but IE6 is the last version compatible with Win 2k.

Ipod freezes when changing settings

I just reformatted my computer and when i didnt pack up my itunes library prior to the format. I have been using itunes lately and have created a new library of music but whenever i try to sync the music my itunes freezes and closes. How can I solve this problem

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?

ITunes freezes when changing settings

I'm trying to change some settings in playback- specifically the Sound Enhancer and Sound Check (or any setting for that matter) freezes iTunes. I get "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working" Solutions?

No, I uninstalled Apple Mobile device support and had no problems with my iPod.
If you are worried you can always put it back by doing a repair install of iTunes.

Well, I thought I fixed one problem after doing a restore, but now I have a new problem. If I check the "Sync only checked songs" in iTunes and click "Apply", iTunes freezes and gets the spinning wheel going. Now what? Versions are iTunes 10.6, iPod Nano 1.2.

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?

Kernel panic when changing settings

I have had my Macbook for 3 weeks now, and have had only one issue with it (the flickering caps/num lock keys) but didn't worry to much about it.. Then I got a kernel panic this morning.
I was changing the settings of sound input from line in to built-in microphone and the input level, and pressed command+Q to get out of system preferences, and got a kernel panic instantly. I know there has been many issues with headphones and macbooks, but this seemed different.
I am considering getting this thing replaced, as i rely on this computer through my work, and it would be a disaster to experience this on a regularily basis.
Any suggestions?

Safari white flash before loading a darker color page

Hi,
I wonder if this can be improved: my website's pages (in frames) have a grey background set and an additional grey image on top. In Netscape-Seamonkey, they load fine in grey color. In Safari however, there is an annoying white flash between two pages. Is there something that can be done about it? Thanks!

I maintain actually another website, built on the same frame set (www.schilliger.com). It has only about 30 pages and they are mostly accessed by links located on the left frame. Once the first page has loaded with a white flash, then further browsing is without this annoying effect. Why it persists on the photo website is a mystery...

It's been this way for years probably. I seldom use Safari so I did not notice until the other day. And it's quite possible that I already asked the same question a few years ago but did not find a solution... Not a big issue in any case.

Popping sound soundbar when changing channels

I recently purchased a soundbar to go with my HDTV set. Experience popping when changing channels or when changing settings in the DVR. Manufacturer of the soundbar says that I must match the STB (Motorola 7232) audio settings with the TV's which is Force or LPCM and turn off Dolby Digital. However, I cannot find these settings.
Take the soundbar out of the mix and the TV does not experience any popping. This tells me that this cannot be the STB but the manufacturer says it is. Any help with audio on FiOS TV would be greatly appreciated.

Let us know if you find the menu. The tricky thing is that you have to power it off from the front display and then do ok menu using the remote. It took ne a couple times to get there with the new box. Best of luck.

Oracle forms display bright white flash when transitioning between forms.

We recently migrated an application from Oracle Application Server to WebLogic and we are noticing that in the WebLogic environment while transitioning between forms there is a quick bright white flash that has caused several complaints. We are not sure if this is related to a performance issue which may be preventing the form from painting quick enough or if there is a configuration problem somewhere. Has anyone else seen this behavior?
We are running WebLogic Server Version 10.3, Fusion Middleware 11gR1, and Oracle DB 11.2

Unfortunately we don't have any errors to work off of. The application works fine, it's just that their is a very short delay when transitioning from one form to another and during that transition the whole form turns bright white which has caused users to complain that it could cause an epileptic seizure. I assumed maybe there was some performance tuning/caching that could be done to make it so it loaded quicker. Our DBA team recieved a response from Oracle support stating that although the forms themselves are relatively unchanged, due to the underlying software changes in 11g we are to expect some differences compared to previous versions. We have since set background in formsweb.cfg to use a light grey image which seems to be more acceptable for our users.

IPhone 5 white flashing when on camera in the dark?

iPhone 5 when I go on camera in the dark I notice a white flashing dot above the option button. When I slide it on to video or face time camera it goes? Help!!!

The flash on a smartphone camera is tiny. It only lights up a very small area right in front of the camera. It won't light up the whole scene.
Have you seen the size of the flash on a professional camera? Even they can't light a whole scene in the dark.
Fact is, a smartphone camera is not capable of taking good photos in the dark, even with the flash.
You'll need to buy and learn how to use a professional, dedicated SLR camera to be able to take good photos in the dark. It is not easy.

White flash when looping swf

Hi,
I have done a simple banner for a website in Flash which I would like to loop seamlessly but I'm getting a flash of white every time the movie replays!!
It works fine when I play it in Flash but won't work when exported. I've tried looking through all the publish settings but can't seem to find where I'm going wrong.
There are definitely no blank frames at the end of the movie.
Any help?

The wmode property is in the html page code. By default it is either set to opaque or not specified at all. You need to be sure that the wmode parameter is both specified in the html code and that it is set to be transparent.
I can't guarantee this will solve it, but it did for someone else the other day. It could also be a bowser shortcoming.

White flash when previewing movies on full screen

Sometimes, when previewing my current editable movie project on the full screen I see a brief white flash at the end. Any idea why this is, please, and can it be avoided? No problem, I guess, if it does not appear in the final iDVD version or on the burnt DVDs. Thanks, Keith.

Welcome to the discussions.
Some users reported a brief white flash in association with a transition. Is yours related to a transition? The 'cure' was to move the playhead frame by frame until you see the white flash, then 'split video at playhead' to isolate the flash. Usually it is only a frame or two in duration, and you can delete it.
If it is with a transition, you will have to delete the transition, find the white flash frame, delete it and redo the transition.
Post back if this is not helpful.

White flash when wake from sleep

Just upgraded my 2007 iMac to ML. Notice that when I wake from sleep there's a white flash, or perhaps a bit longer, on screen before the desktop appears. It's similar to the white screen when booting, just before the worm gear appears.
Anyone else notice it? Normal behavior?

Yes, on a mid-2011 MacBook Air. Tried resetting SMC, no luck. I've installed all the prior firmware updates. It only happens when running on battery power. I'm going to experiment with disabling Power Nap when running on battery to see if that makes a difference.

Using embedded SWF, get a white flash when its to play

We develop e-Learning content using swf files embedded in
DCRs. We have started noticing a problem with the new Shockwave
player 10.1+ in that there is a noticable flicker or white flash
before the swf plays or is told to move on.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know a
solution?
We are using Director 8.5 and Flash 8.0. files published for
Flash Player 5.0.

Well dont all fall over each other trying to post a possible
solution ;-).
Seems that we found the problem. We use shared script
libraries (cst & cct). It appears that there is a line in our
lingo code that sets the flash sprite cast member automatically
direct to stage. Shockwave player 10.1 + does not seem to like this
on standard speed machines and causes a flickering border around
the flash animations, which is really noticable. The line of code
reads as so:
sprite(channelNo).directToStage = true
We simply commented this out and the page functions fine.
Incedently, if I manually set the flash cast member as direct to
stage, we get the same issue, only more exagerated. This must be a
bug in the 10.1+ player as we don't get the issue at all on
machines running the 8.5 player.
