HI All,
Does anyone else get this problem or know how to fix it?
I am using the original firewire apple iSight with an intel dual Quad Core.
I can use it with Skype for video/audio chat but now even Skype is being problematic.
I would really appreciate any pointers.
I have tried quitting all applications, repairing disk permissions, restarting but none seem to work.

You have tried some good things already, Felix.
I do not share your problem, but here are a couple of ideas you can consider in any order you like.
(1) When you quit all applications, include a check for camera-enabled Login Items and widgets.
(2) If you are using Fast User Switching, be sure nothing is using your iSight in another account.
(3) Try resetting your PRAM.
If your problem remains unresolved, test whether the problem is EXACTLY the same when you try to use your external iSight with other video apps and post the answer back here. Also let us know if the problem is EXACTLY the same in another user account when you test those same accounts there.

Another application is using your camera

Whenever I use my iChat I am not able to do video chat. I have to restart my entire computer and then it will work. Then sometime later when I try to use video chat again, I get the same message. When this happened I checked Facetime and it said "no camera connected" or "no camera found." Photobooth will also not work when this is happening. I don't have any exteral cameras hooked up and I never have. Please help as this is very frustrating to have to restart every single time.

FaceTime, iChat, Quicktime, iMovie, and Photobooth all may at one time or another want access to the camera. Make sure you are only using one of these applications at a time. Web browsers that use Flash may also want access to the camera, if you allow them to when you visit a video chat on a website page. Any chat software that has video chat capability might do this as well.

How to interface a tuxedo app with another application that uses tcp/ip socket messaging

How would you interface a tuxedo app with another application that
uses tcp/ip socket messaging? I have a vendor product that offers
a tcp/ip message interface, and would like to know how best to
integrate it into a tuxedo application. I could write a C application
that listens and accepts incoming request from the vendors application,
and then make a tuxedo client call to a service. But this doesn't
allow me to control the listen thread through tuxedo. The C application
would have to be started seperately and would not take advantage
of the tuxedo restart facilities etc of a tuxedo service.

You can make an empty server only with tpsvrinit that starts your client
listeners and a tpsrvdone that stops them. Be carefull with sharing ipcs
between processes, or your clients may get puzzled!!!
Another choice can be builting a custom WSL/WSH but I haven't done
this yet and I don't know exactly the troubles related with making them.

My ipod 5th gen says it is connected to the internet and i can go on apps that require an internet connection but whe i try to use the weather or another app that uses your current location it cant find me???

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds

Since the iPod touch doesn't have an LCDflash like the iPhone any app that would turn on the LCD flash on the iPhone into a "flashlight" wouldn't work with the iPod.

Can you take pictures while having your flash light on, instead of using your camera's flash?

Hello I have a 5s and want to know if you can take pictures while having your flash light on, instead of using your camera's flash? Having a constant light seems like a better way to take pictures. If this is possible how? Do I need certain apps? or just adjust settings? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Pat

The Flashlight uses the camera flash as its source of light. You are in fact using the flahslight when you take a picture with flash because they use the same light source.
The Flash is timed to light the picture when the camera snaps the photo.

Lightroom 4.3 Problem - Another Application Is Using Catalog

I recently moved all my photos and my Lightroom 4.3 Catalog onto a Drobo Mini so that I can use it easily with my MacBook Pro Laptop and my Mac Pro Desktop. Everything has been working fine for a few weeks but now I'm having a problem. When I try to open Lightroom it says it can't open my Catalog because it is being used by another application. I can't find any other application that is using the Catalog and I have shut down both computers and restarted, but still getting the same message??? Any advice on how to free up my Catalog would be greatly appreciated.

I will answer your questions as best I can. About a month ago, I purchased a new MacBook Pro laptop and a Drobo Mini. I copied all my images (about 40,000) on to the Drobo Mini and also created a Drobo Mini Lightroom Catalog on the Drobo Mini and imported all the images into that catalog. Everything worked fine and I could move the Drobo Mini from the MacPro Desktop to the MacBook Pro Laptop without any problems. I use the Thunderbolt cable to connect to the laptop and a USB cable to connect to the Desktop. In the past I made sure only one cable was connected to the Drobo Mini depending upon which computer I was connecting to. A couple of days ago I believe I didn't disconnect the USB cable and didn't shut down the Drobo and just connected it to the laptop. That is when the problems began. Initially I couldn't open Lightoom from either computer connected to the Drobo. It appeared I had somehow corrupted the Drobo and I tried to use my Disk Utility on the MacBook Pro Laptop to repair it but it wasn't able to do so. I contacted Drobo support and they advised me to purchase Disk Warrior which I did and it fixed the issue with the Drobo files. Then I was able to look at the Drobo Mini and as Web Weaver suggested, there was a LR lock file on the Drobo. I moved it to the trash and I replaced the original catalog with the most recent backup, and then I was able to open Lightroom on the Desktop and everything appeared okay. Then I went over to the laptop, and the messages above about permissions showed up and I couldn't open the catalog. Rather than go back to the desktop and see if it is okay, I'm thinking first I'd like to solve the problem on the laptop if possible. I don't know how to fix the folder permissions???

Application calling another application not using states

I have a project and within two applications.
1 - I have a main application, and it got a button that will call my other application, which is within the same project.
2 - I do not intend to use the states, by mixing the code too.
3 - Is there a way to create a call to another application is similar to what is done in PopUpManager?

Does the called component have to be an Application. If not, you can create a cutom component (extending from any other Flex container except Application) that holds everything you require and instantiate in your original Application on the Button Click.
If you must have an Application, you can create a separate project for the second application and compile it into a SWF. You can then load this SWF from the SWFLOADER Flex control on Button Click.

New iPhone 5, getting the "Another device is using your IP address" message

just got the iPhone on Sunday and turned on the WiFi. Everything was ok until today. Now when I walk into the door and wake up my Mac Mini (OS10.7.5), I get: Another Device on the network is using your computers IP address.
I then have to reboot the AIrport and turn off WiFi on the iPhone. Things were better.

there's a chance my iPhone is commanding the space. I suspected as much because this has happened before with other Apple products here. Any thoughts on this?

Reset your router. Two devices are attempting to use the same IP address.

By any chance have you recently had to reboot your airport/time capsule affair. Similar thing happened to me, had to reboot the AEBS and my wife's computer was in sleep mode at the time. When I fired up my iMac it gave me a new IP address and all was well until she brought her computer out of sleep. Turns out the IP address I had been assigned was her old one. A reboot of her computer gave her a new IP address.
