Another BT engineer booked for tommorow afternoon.

hi, i have yet another engineer visit booked for tommorow afternoon, the combination of cold weather and the heavy winds weve been having have stirred up the intermitent fault that i have. One can only hope the engineer will discover the fault this time. I still have a kind of popping/static noise on my phone line also there is a kind of phone ringing noise but in static, the only problem is that its not constant and therefore theres more than a 90% chance that the engineer wont here it. We will see.

So , the ngineers been out, these were the worse pair of idiots ive ever seen lol, first, they didnt know what my faceplate was and told me i wasnt filtered, after arguing that the faceplate is the filter, they ran tests, never checked for the noise on my phone, cut out my cat6 cabling and replaced it with standard telephone cable, and swapped the drop wires round, only thing they succeeded in doing is making the upload speed worse, no change in anything else.Im having know more engineers.Im just waiting for fibre now, thats when the fun will really start because when i sync at 13meg or more i have no throughput.

  • Address books for another user sharing my computer for now

At this time I am sharing this computer with one other person ..I have set up and named another address book for them.
Is there a way that their email addresses do not get added too mine.. is there a setting where we can set it up so each one has there emails being added to their own addy book.. At the moment there emails are being added too mine... this problem will be ongoing fpr a period of time....
    Thank you in advance. :)

''re: At this time I am sharing this computer with one other person .''
Usually, when people share a computer, each user has their own User Account which they logon using a password.
This means that Thunderbird then runs in that User Account and creates a profile in that User Account which holds all the Profile data, emails, passwords, address books etc specifically for that users email address mail accounts.
So then no one can read each others emails nor access other peoples passwords and they can use their own address books.
So if you are sharing a computer and sharing a Profile, then it is advisable that you do not have any stored / remembered passwords, unless that person is eg: spouse and you do not mind them having full access to all your personal stuff.
You have a couple of Options:
'''1.''' Create User Accounts on your computer so that each user has their own User Account, Create a Thunderbird Profile folder and set up mail accounts storing personal emails and address books.
This is the only method offering best security.
'''2. ''' Create another Profile for the other person. then create mail account for that Profile. This will then have it's own folders, address book.
Use Profile Manager to create another Profile.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
Make sure to uncheck the box 'Don't ask at startup' to force it to ask which Profile to use.
Any user can still access any profile.
    '''3. ''' In current situation.
Stop auto saving outgoing email addresses that are not in the address books as this uses only one setting per Profile.
Tools > Options > Composition > Addressing tab
uncheck: 'Automatically add outgoing email addresses to my'
    click on OK
Then you would need to use an Addon in order to be able to select a specific address book when you wish to add the email address/contact to an address book. At the moment, if you click on the FROM header email address or right click and select 'Add to address book', this adds to the default address book called 'Personal Address Book'. This you cannot change because you are using the same User account and Profile.
    But with the addon 'MorefunctionforAddressBook'
Right click on eg: From header and choose > Save recipients addresses' > as Contacts
This allows you to select the address book you require.
    Addon 'MorefunctionforAddressBook':
    * https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html
    Download to desktop.
    In Thunderbird:
    Tools > Addons
    Clickon on gear wheel icon and select : Install addon from file;
locate file you downloaded and click on Open
You may need to restart Thunderbird.

  • Where can I download the application "Address Book" for OS 10.3.9

Some how or another my address book got dumped off my desktop and now I cannot get it back. It will open using my email account but that does not show the mailing address on other info. I tried using backup which had been uploaded to my idisk to "restore" but everytime I have tried to open the backup restored file, it goes back to the backup screen showing "restore or backup." When I went on my hard drive and looked for the "Address Book" application, it only appears in a previous system file and will not open either. I am quite perplexed as how to recover my "addresses." Is there a site available where I can download the "Address" application or is there another way to fix? I have already looked on all my install disks. I am running Panther 10.3.9 on an iMac.

    Sandra -
You can use Pacifist to reinstall individual applications from your installation disk. Here's a link to a MacWorld review:
    http://www.macworld.com/2004/03/reviews/aprilmacgems/
It's about halfway down the page under "Installer Info".

  • Use of Official Document number in VAT Books for Italy

    Dear All,
I would like to share with you a big doubt I have regarding the use of Official Document Number in the VAT Books. This is a requirement for an Italian client.
According to my clients requierement they would like to manage 5 different VAT Books:
    1. Sale book (for all finished products sold in Italy, EU and outside EU)
    2. Sale book for sundry sales (CAPEX, services, other goods ...)
    3. Purchase book (for all the goods bought in Italy and out-side EU and for all the services bought in Italy)
    4. EU purchase book (for all the goods and services bought from EU suppliers and for all the services bought from not EU suppliers)
    5. EU sale (reverse charge) book (with the same numbers and amounts of the purchase book number 4)
For every VAT Book they want the Officil Document number to be displayed. Not only that, they want the Official Document Number to end in 1 (XXXXXXX1) at the start of every natural Year for EVERY VAT Book, and have sequential numbering with no gaps.
My intention is to use: RFKKITVATM. This is a specific VAT report for Italian Companies. The report selects documents that contain regular VAT and that have been assigned an Official Document number (ODN). You run this report to generate such a list for the current month. It selects documents with an ODN based on the invoice or credit memo posting date. You can create as many layout-variants (one per VAT Book??).
My question is: The VAT Books are based on different VAT Codes. How can we have every single VAT Book to start with an Official Document number ending in 1? The number range will be Document type dependant and not VAT Code dependant.
As per my knowledger, To use Official Document Numbering (ODN) in Italy we have to make a number of settings:
    - Activate ODN
    - Specify which document types the system is to assign official document numbers to.
    - Assign installation-specific function modules to events
    - Define Number ranges
Have you faced up a similar requirement? Is this a legal requierement or is my client mixing up with another legal requierement related to this subject:  To print a sequential number and the fiscal year on each page of the reportu2019s output list. The System starts the numbering automatically at 1, as it does for each subsequent year.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello All,
Am facing an issue when implementing the ODN solution for Italy. I cannot replicate the ODN in field BKPF-XBLNR_ALT when posting Invoice via MIRO.
    1. I have Defined a Document Class per VAT Book
    2. I have Assign a Document Class to Document Types (in my example Document Type "RE" to Document class "43". And select "Generate Official Document Number, with date control".
    3. I have mantained Number ranges
    4. I have Assign the Number ranges to Document Class.
    5. In order to transfer the ODN from Billing docs to Accounting docs I have entered the Document Type "RV" at Billing Document Type level.
It all works as expected except for the Accounting documents coming from Logistic Invoice verification - MIRO transaction. Document Type "RE" is used for posting but my field BKPF-XBLNR on Accounting document remains blank.
Is there any additional step am missing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

  • I am using numbers to create a grade book for my classroom

I am using numbers to create a grade book for my classroom but would like to know how to link information in one table to a cell in another.

To reference to a cell in the same file, but in a other sheet user the following format:
    sheet::table::cell
sheet: the name of the sheet
table: the name of teh table in the sheet
cell: the cell reference in the table (e.g. B5)
See also page 90 in the manual.
Or simple start to write the formula and click simple an the cell in the other sheet.
To reference a cell in a other file, there is in the moment no way, to do it (that I know).

  • What is the best book for Analysis Server 2012??

What is the best published book for SSAS 2012?

Thanks for the recommendation, Shankar! I would like to point out that the answer depends on what you mean by "SSAS 2012". Here are a few other recommendations...
If it's SSAS 2012 Tabular, then yes, "SQL Server Analysis Services 2012: The BISM Tabular Model"
is an option - but as a co-author I'm obviously biased! Teo Lachev's book, "Applied Microsoft
SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services: Tabular Modeling" covers some of the same ground and is also very good. If you're just interested in DAX, Rob Collie's book "DAX
Formulas for PowerPivot" is worth a look - even though it's for PowerPivot, the DAX language is the same as in SSAS Tabular.
For SSAS 2012 Multidimensional, because not much has changed since SSAS 2008, any book for 2008 or 2008 R2 will still be relevant. I haven't seen the 2012 edition, but editions of "Professional
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services with MDX and DAX" for older versions of SSAS were good general introductions; "Microsoft
SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 Step-By-Step" is also good. For more experienced developers there's another book I co-wrote, "Expert
Cube Development with SQL Server 2008" (a refresh for SSAS 2012 is coming later this year); and for the really advanced SSAS developer who wants to understand the internals of the product there's "Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services Unleashed", written by Edward Melomed and several other senior members of the SSAS dev team at the time. For MDX beginners I'd recommend "Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 MDX Step--By-Step", and for more advanced MDX there's "MDX with Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services Cookbook".
For the whole Microsoft BI stack, Brian Larson's books are always good (eg "Delivering Business
Intelligence with SQL Server 2012") and cover more than just SSAS, although they go into less detail.

  • Is there a Classroom-In-a Book for SB CS4?

    Aloha Friends,
I just purchased Creative Suite CS4 sometime ago and I've been having a great time learning each one of the programs. I've purchased the CS4 Classroom in a Book for many of them, but I can't find one for SB CS4.  I see there is a SB CS3 Classroom in a Book.  Would that edition suffice with even the content in the dvd that comes with the book?
    Thanks for any help.
    Lono

I too used to be a book person for software training. In the last year I have begun using video tutorials. So much easier to carry around with me! I started with lynda and later cancelled and moved over to www.designprovideo.com and macprovideo too.
I decided to buy the Soundbooth tutorial because with the high def download I keep it for life and it plays in this special player that has instant "mac esq Spotlight" search features. It's like an index for a book but better. You type in a word or part of a word and the player shows you any individual videos (from all tutorials) related to your search!
Another reason I bought it instead of streaming it is I have transfered it to my iPhone yesterday. So I was watching parts of the tutorial on the way back from a meeting with a client. No net access needed. Way cool! Sure, there is the screen size limitation - but It suprised me how much I could get from the tutorial by listening and following the action on the screen.
Still, I will miss books when they eventually are replaced by ebooks and videos.

  • Advice on books for learning CS3 Master Collection

I've been trying to learn as much as I can from tutorials and just basic knowledge from around the web.  I am understanding a little as I go, but am thinking that a book or two might help me as well.  I have several sites that I visit from time to time, so I don't need help on that front.  Can anyone give me some advice on what literature I should buy?  I own the CS3 Master collection, and I'm hoping to learn Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver, and maybe other programs related to web design.  I've heard that the bible series is pretty good, but since I'm still considered new I really don't know where to start.  And not sure if this is the place to ask, but as far as web design is concerned, should I also get a book for coding?
Sorry if this is a topic that is asked every five seconds, but I've looked around as much as I could and this was literally my last option.  And in case anyone was wondering, I asking in this forum since every time I start off in one program I usually end up in Photoshop, so I assume people who know Photoshop also know some of the other programs, also I didn't really see a forum best suited for my question.  Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

You would do best to buy individual books for each application.
Some books try to have an overview of several different applications, but they only give the barest amount of information on each one and are basically useless.
Some books like the Bible series are extremely large (Photoshop CS3 over 1,200 pages) but don't assume that more is automatically better.
I think they make some of them big just to impress people looking for an instruction book at their local bookstore.
The Bible and some other books include a CD of images and give step by step instructions using the supplied images.
But they really don't explain how the procedures work and why you would likely using this procedure rather than another.
They basically said, do this, now do that, do another thing, etc.
The Quick Start Guide series by Peachpit Press dispenses with the hand-holding step by step intructions.
It explains how and why to do things and has screenshots on every page to show the menus, tools and procedures of actually using Photoshop.
The Quick Start books just give solid information and are usually much more affordable, which is helpfull if you are buying several books for different applications.
Peachpit Press also has another series of books, their Real World series. These are larger books but without the CD, etc.
Over the last 20 years I've had many different books, but in my estimation the Peachpit books are the best of the bunch. Your mileage may vary.
Since CS3 is rather old, I'm assuming you are looking at Amazon or other online sellers. You might even be able to get some used books through Amazon resellers an a greatly reduced price.
    Good luck.

  • Best training book for iWeb

Go to do a new website for first time in 15 years. Did last one in straight HTML. Used a "Learn HTML in 7 Days" book. Hopefully iWeb will make this second foray easier.
Any recommendations for good books for teaching iWeb (beyond the basics). I want to get past just posting pictures and movies. I want to be able to have pages where I post downloadable Word docs etc.
Also if I do basics in iWeb can I then take that code an modify / enhance in another web design program.
    Thanks,
    Alan

The vast majority of 'code'/features you'd use completely differently in another program or with another system. It's not really transferable knowledge, though you might pick up a couple of things. But if you've already learned HTML I'm sure you'll have no problems.
Posting downloadable Word docs is very simple. In fact, everything in iWeb is pretty simple providing it has the functionality available. (That said, allowing someone to download a Word doc in straight HTML is also very simple - just upload it to your server and create a hyperlink for visitors to download your doc).
Don't waste money on a book for web design. Ever. Everything you could possibly need is available on the Internet for free in an easier format, often with the ability to ask questions, and constantly being updated. Any book you buy will be at least a year behind.

  • Good troubleshooting book for tiger

hello, has anyone heard of the "x-lab" book by dr smoke? is it pretty good? i read a little and it seemed like it could help. before i get it i wanted to check and see if anyone knows or can recommend other books for troubleshooting and repairs and such for tiger. i have the missing manual book and its good, but it's more like an intro to tiger. i would like to learn how to fix my mac and do troubleshooting and learn more about the os.
    thx

Hi! Dr. Smoke is one of the "masters" and is revered by all one these boards. It's a good book to have around in that time of trouble especially if you don't have another computer that you can use for research on a problem. Also one of the best ways to learn is by reading the posts and especially solved ones. You'll soon pick up on the best "experts" and you'll always find yourself reading anything they post! Tom

Backup your data off the machine to a external drive (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Create another Admin account in System Preferences and log into it, delete your Admin Account and reboot.
Optional: Open Disk Utility and Erase Free Space (Zero good enough, 7x for military level, both take time)
This should be good enough to remove just your account and data without the hassle of reinstalling the OS and all new programs again.
However if you need that level, then c boot off the 10.6 disk (or command r boot on Lion) and use Disk Utility there to Zero or 7x erase the OSX drive/partition, quit and reinstall OS X. Much more work that likely is unnecessary in your case.
    Good Luck.

  • Costs of books for ibooks higher

Is there anything to do about the higher costs of books for ibooks? Can you read books purchased at Barnes and Noble on Ibooks? It's just that it's hard to purchase from Ibooks when I can pay $4.99 for a book that costs $6.99 on ibooks.

You can do it, but it requires breaking the law. You have to strip the DRM protection from the eBooks purchased elsewhere, then use a programme to convert the B&N eBook into an ePub (which is what Apple uses). It is extremely complicated, and not for the faint of heart -- plus, you have to scour around the internet for the programme.
    But it can be done.
BTW, with all due respect, you haven't thought out your gripe correctly. I'm talking of the part of your post above, where you intimate that you should be able to read books purchased at one site, on an Apple device, which has its own store.
If you went to Barnes & Noble and bought a book, but then lost it, and your only option was to buy it at another bookstore, would you tell them, "I want to take this book home, because I already bought it at another bookstore"? Of course not. Your purchase rights begin and end with the particular item you bought, once.

  • Book for Studio 8

I seem to learn best from books, and I'm looking for the best
book to teach the applications in Macromedia Studio 8. I've never

Rather than get a book on Dreamweaver, I recommend an html
    and a css
book. A frequently mentioned favorite for the former:
HTML for the World Wide Web by Elizabeth Castro.
Most people say you should get one of Eric Meyer's books for
    CSS, but I
    love my Molly Holzschlag more!

  • Oracle books for apex ?

    hi all ,
does not oracle offer books for learning apex ?
if i had a course in oracle , will not she give me a book to learn from it !!
i do not find books regarding apex in the market except some of some writers
    books like
    beggining oracle application express
    and
    pro application express
and 2 day + developers guide on apex documentation
and they are not enough at all
    is there another resources ?
    thanks in advance

Well, all the books and tutorials start from beginer level and go to some advanced levels.
Just like you cannot learn to swim without getting into water, you cannot learn Apex without dabbling in it ;-)
Get yourself an installation of Apex and start off with that and a book / tutorial/ Help (which is also pretty good).
No text books, the likes of Haliday & Resnick Part 1 & 2 for Physics or G.B. Thomas for Calculus / Coordinate Geometry in real world !

You should be able to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the iPhone (or you could re-download them directly on the iPhone)
