Another color question

First, I am sorry of I should know this or if the topic has already been discussed but was not able to find my exact problem, so here it goes...
I have a Mac, running Leopard and an HP 9180.
OK, when going to Print settings in LR, I can easily configure for vendor matching colors and in the quality/paper dialog, select App manages color. Of course, I then tell lightroom to use correct paper profile and Not let Printer manage color in the print module.
So far so good.
But when I then choose the Print button, just look at the settings for curiosity right before I print, Color Synch is on and everything grayed out. Shoudlnt it still be vendor matching at this point?
It is my understanding that when using the paper icc profiles I should turn color management off on the printer. and I do, in the print settings button. But even if I save it (the print settings), and hit the print button it reverts back to color synch.
Not sure this a LR issue cause it does it that way in PS, too.
Am I crazy, or just stupid cause I am doing it wrong:)
Please help smart people.

No it is just silly. Colorsync interferes a lot and does not seem to have sticky settings. It should not matter for your print though, although there can be some issues because of this.

  • Another color management question

    Hi folks,
    Apologies for yet another color management question, but Im getting very confused and could do with some help. I use a Canon 10D and Canon 30D. Ive come to LightRoom from Pixmantec Raw Shooter.
    As Ive gotten more serious about producing high quality images for both the web and as prints, I thought Id invest in the Colorvision Spyder2 calibration product. So my monitor is now calibrated (quite a difference from what I was seeing!) and I have a calibration profile applied.
    My needs are pretty obvious I want my images to look the same wherever theyre viewed including exported files (such as JPEGs) whether this be on my monitor (in LightRoom, a web browser, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) and on a printer.
    Perhaps Im getting confused because Im trying to compare what LightRoom does with what RawShooter does.
    In RawShooter, when exporting from RAW to JPEG, I can specify the RGB Working Space Im using and then select my monitor profile. I think that what happens is that the export mechanism takes this profile into account and, low and behold, the JPEG looks fine when viewed in any web browser - the colours are exactly the same as in RawShooter. In Paint Shop Pro they look fine too unless I enable Color Management in which case (Im guessing) the monitor profile is, essentially, applied twice! But the upshot is I seem to get the results I want.
    What I cant figure out is how I do this in LightRoom. I can make the same adjustments to the RAW image as I did in RawShooter, but there doesnt seem an option for me to select my profile on export to JPEG only the standard 3 color spaces. Anyway the result is a JPEG that looks somewhat different when viewed in a web browser, or Paint Shop Pro with Color Management turned off. However, if I turn Color Management on in Paint Shop Pro, then it looks fine. So Im assuming that my profile isnt accounted for when exporting JPEGs from LightRoom.
    So any pointers or explanations would be really appreciated. I also acknowledge that this is my first foray into color management, and feel free to tell me to go and read some introductory article (link please!) and then come back with a sensible question if thats whats needed!
    Thanks in advance.
    - Pete

    Lightroom color management.
    a.) Monitor profile used: The profile set as the default in your operating system (e.g. Windows xp). (your monitor profile software usually does this when you calibrate/profile your monitor).
    b.) Working space: ProPhotoRGB
    c.) Export color space: You can choose one of the following sRGB; Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB.
    There is no option (afaik) to change a.) or b.) the option you choose in c.) will affect how the exported image will be displayed in color managed applications or non-color managed applications.
    Non-color managed applications are not able to display Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB correctly. I guess if you wish a consistent display of your images in color managed and non-color managed applications then the only common factor is sRGB and you should export your images in sRGB color space.
    The benefits of the other expanded color spaces are in printing and you also would have to get this end of your color management correct. Printing profiles to match your printer and each paper being used etc.
    Until you can get this all sorted out you will get better results from sRGB, this is also applicable when using most commercial printing services.

  • How do I change an image border color to another color - Dreamweaver CS5?

    Good day,
    I have just learned how to add a border to an image with Dreamweaver CS5 within the Properties Inspector.
    After typing the width in pixels in the Border Text Field and pressing the Enter key, Dreamweaver created a black border.
    How do I change the image border color to another color?

    I added your suggested rule to the Style Sheet "in any order" as you explained. See the image below.
    However this did not change the image border from black to light blue. In fact, nothing changed.
    Nothing changed because the CSS that has been written into DW is incorrectly written.
    You want the following (exactly as written below)
    img {border: 4px solid #0062C8;}
    You've inadvertently wrapped the rule inside a #main_image container rendering it meaningless.
    It's easiest to go into Code View and change
    #main_image {
         img {border: 4px solid #0062C8;
    to
    img { border: 4px solid #0062C8; }
    The Property Inspector added a border exactly as I wanted it, other than the color I wanted the border to be. What is the use of this function in Property Inspector if it can add a border within Property Inspector but not let me change the COLOR of the black border that Property Inspector added, to another color?
    That's a deceptively simple, yet valid, question with a long answer.
    Back in the dark old days of web design web designers were restricted to inline HTML formatting which offered  border properties but no colors.
    CSS styling offers colors and more but has to be written differently.
    These days. it's best to avoid HTML formatting. Unfortunately border="4px" in the PI still allows it. But does not permit color.
    Does anyone else out there ever add color borders to their IMAGES (not the containing box for the image) ?
    Yes, using CSS.

  • How can I change the color of all folders from light blue to another color?

    My computer was just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, and now all the file folder icons are pale blue on the desktop and elsewhere. My desktop is green and those light blue folders do not look good on a green background.
    How can I change the color of the folder icons to another color?

    Hi ys,
    You appear to have taken a wrong turn on the information highway and would up in the backwater known as the AppleWorks forum. This is a place for discussion of issues and techniques connected with the now discontinued Apple productivity application AppleWorks.
    Yours is a System question, concerned with how to accomplish something in the Finder, part of the Mac OS X software you recently upgraded. The question will be better served in the Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard section of discussions. The link will take you to that section, where I'd suggest using the Finder and Dock forum.

  • JButton background color question

    Hi everybody,
    I have a feeling I'm going to get slammed for this, but I have to ask a very general question and hope for an answer.
    I have a JDialog on which buttons don't seem to hold their background color. That is, when I use setBackground, the only color change I get is a very thin outline of the color, and the rest of the button is white. The strange thing about the button is that the white center actually seems transparent--if I change the panel the button is on to another color besides white, the center of the button turns that color.
    I've tried to solve this problem with setOpaque( true ), setContentAreaFilled( true ), setBackground( color ), setForeground( color ), and I'm pretty sure every combination of those.
    Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce this in a test case, so I can't give a SSCCE, although I've tried for a while now to make one.
    So...has anyone ever run into a problem like this and can give me some advice? I'm sorry I can't be more specific, if anyone has a question I'll do my best to answer.
    Thanks,
    Jezzica85

    I have a feeling I'm going to get slammed for this, but I have to ask a very general question and hope for an answer.Why would people be harsh on you? The only risk you take is: vague question => vague answer (or random).
    So...has anyone ever run into a problem like this and can give me some advice? I'm sorry I can't be more specific, if anyone has a question I'll do my best to answer.Never seen that myself, so I'll add a few random questions/thoughts:
    I have a JDialog on which buttons don't seem to hold their background color. That is, when I use setBackground, the only color change I get is a very thin outline of the color, and the rest of the button is white.- are you using a custom JButton subclass? If yes are you certain the subclass does not override paintComponent()?
    - If not, the button is painted by its ButtonUI. Can you tell which UI class is used (sysout(+theButton.getUI()+)?
    The UI is set according to the LookAndFeel.
    - Do you set any special LookAndFeel (+UIManager.setLookAndFeel(...)+, or look and feel's UIDefault properties in your app (generally that is done at startup)?
    - If not, can you tell the current look and feel when you bring up the dialog (+UIManager.getLookAndFeel(...)+, although that can be inferred from the ButtonUI subclass' name.
    I've tried to solve this problem with setOpaque( true ), setContentAreaFilled( true ), setBackground( color ), setForeground( color ), and I'm pretty sure every combination of those.FYI, the ButtonUI paints the button however it sees fit; in particular it doesn't have to respect the colors, opacity, filling... properties.
    Eventually:
    - are you using a custom JDialog subclass (probably, as that's generally how people write dialogs; not the best way IMHO, but there are cases where this is hard to avoid).
    I see you can't provide an SSCCE right ow, but maybe you can try to narrow the list of suspects in your side?
    - Do you reproduce the same problem at startup, if you bring the JDialog up as soon as possible?
    - Do you reproduce the problem with a mere JOPtionpane.showMessageDialog(..., theButton,...)?
    - Do you reproduce the problem outside of the JDialog context (I see you mention using a different JPanel, but is that in the dialog or somewhere else?
    Good luck with your investigations.

  • Footer text-alignment in fluid grid layout and another color in white space, not the body

    I'm working in a fluit grid layout. Everythings works almost perfekt. Accept for de alignment in Opera mini. Mini works not with %. So it must be padding, line-height and something else. But then the footer does not stick.
    In Opera mini
    If i want the footer to stick to for example the bottom. I'm may not use padding in de footer.
    De <p> i used for alignment in from the text. Now my footer must have a alignment in the middle of the footer (center). With padding in footer, it wil work, but then my footer will not stick to the bottom anymore.
    and i have also another question, about the white spaces in de fluid grid. I don't want to give the header, body, footer another color. But that outside of my website.
    With a normal website you give the html and the body grey and the content white. But if i do this with the fluid grid. The content because grey. Is there also a code for.
    This is what it must be. It is a example, not for real. But i really want to know the code for it.

    I found the wright code for the footer. Thanks a lot. I'm happy.
    I'm also searching for a code for max-height. For example one page i have less text, so the page is not filled to the bottom. I want for designing reasons this. So the page is always fitt from header to footer.
    It must not scrolled. Just complete for the desktop-computer and laptop. Is there a code for. Because there is already internet-tv and that are big-screens. It must be for all the browser also ie7, ie 6, opera, safari, chrome and more.

  • How do I replace a color with another color?

    I'm not having any luck finding this.  Is there a simple way to replace a color (like a red shirt) with another color (green shirt)?  Somehow I'm not seeing this anywhere.  I know how to do it in Premiere Pro.

    You can use the Color board ("corrector"). Click on the Eye dropper icon and click and drag over the t-shirt (you'll see some feedback of what's being selected.) You can hold down the shift key and click/drag (slightly) on other spots to add more to the selection (or hold down the option key to subtract from the selection.) You can also use the Color Mask slider to add or subtract from the selection.
    Then click on the right arrow for the Correction and in the Color Adjustment, click and drag the Global control to change the color.

    Can I switch out my current phone with another color? I have black and I would prefer the silver. My parents got it for as a surprise so I didn't speak up and tell them I didn't like the color. So I have been using it for about a month. Can I just take the chip out and put it into another phone of a different color or no?

    You can purchase an iPhone in any model, color, and capacity currently available.
    You can purchase a case to put the device in and simply forget about the color of the device.

  • Another newb question: multiple virtual servers

    Hi, I have yet another ignorant question. I have several unrelated web projects that I am working on, and I would like to be able to set up a virtual server for each one for testing purposes, such as: http://project1, http://project2, http://project3. Can someone tell me if this is doable, and if there are any tutorials/resources on this for someone who has 0 experience running a web serer? Sorry for being so ignorant!

    Yes, it is doable.
    You can setup virtual server either by IP or by name.
    If you have one IP, and want to set them up by name (ex. http://project1, http://project2, http://project3) you can do so easily with this type of configuration:
    <virtual-server>
        <name>mydomain</name>
        <http-listener-name>http-listener-1</http-listener-name>
        <host>*.mydomain.com</host>
        <document-root>/www/domain</document-root>
      </virtual-server>
      <virtual-server>
        <name>myotherdomain</name>
        <http-listener-name>http-listener-1</http-listener-name>
        <host>*.myotherdomain.com</host>
        <document-root>/www/myotherdomain</document-root>
      </virtual-server>
    ....The important part here is that
    a) all virtual servers share the same HTTP listener
    b) which virtual server serves the request depends on the $HOST request header send by the client. Sun Web Server does the matching for you. It will match $HOST vs. the virtual server's host attribute. Depending on which site you connect to the right virtual server will be used.
    c) if the $HOST request header does not match any of the virtual servers, then the default virtual server defined in the HTTP listener will be used.
    To create a virtual server, use the Admin GUI, access the configuration, and then add new virtual server. Or use the following CLI command.
    wadm> create-virtual-server --config=myconfig --http-listener-name=http-listener-1 --document-root=/www/docs/myserver.com --host-pattern=myserver.com --log-file=../logs/myserver.com-error_logs myserverHost pattern will be used for matching. Some of this elements might be optional.
    Hope that helps. And keep the questions coming :D
    Edit: Also check the documentation
    Using Virtual Servers in SJS Web Server 7.0

  • I need another color where two objects meet

    Hello
    Sorry, bad subject, but I cant do it better.
    So, I have two objects. One circle and one rectangle.
    The circle is on top of the rectangle. Just in one corner, so its not covering all of the rectangle.
    I would like to have another color where these two objects meet.
    Which is the easiest way to do this ?
    Thanks / E.......

    Perhaps you should consider makign 3 shapes... One for the circle, one for the rectangle, and one for the intersection. Determining the intersection might be fun, but is not an impossible task, especially if you can represent your shapes as equations (which for circles and rectangles is easy) Good luck to you.

  • Another JPEG Question...

    I created these little red arrows in PS that are being inserted in the FCP sequence. I saved them as a PS file, JPEG, Tiff etc. The JPEGS are smallest and easies to render so we've been using those. I made them over sized in PS because we needed to shrink them down a bit and vary the sizes and I didn't want to enlarge to pixellate.
    Well, when I put them into the timeline, they look great I can move them around rotate them, whatever, but AFTER I render they pixellate. What is causing this? Could it be another color scale issue, or a timeline setting?
    It is a standard DV NTSC 4:3 timeline. I double checked the settings and they seem OK.
    THANKS!

    I'm not planning on using an Intensity Pro card with my iMac. I'm planning on using one when I upgrade systems like I said. I'm looking into a Mac Pro configuration.
    Thanks, I get what you're saying about working back from delivery format. That will be helpful in the future.

  • About Java 2 opaque font color question, help needed!

    About Java 2 opaque font color question, help needed!
    I was trying to test opaque font (the string has a foreground color and a background color), but i can't find the method for doing that.
    i can change foreground by Graphics2D.setPaint(Color.black).
    Anybody know how to change the background of the string?
    Thanks!

    Hi. The way I'd do it would be to use the font metrics to find the length of a string and draw a rectangle and then drawstring over the rectangle. If you want an example, I can post it although I suspect theres a better way.
