Another day, another Go Client - RubyGo

Encouraged by my success with building, installing & packaging the glGo program earlier* last week, I wanted to try to build a pkgbuild myself to see if I can. However I have run into a few snags & I could use the experience of those more knowledgeable than I to nail down some details before I proceed.
Firstly, it seems that RubyGo's dependencies are fairly standard for ruby-based apps. However when i ran across the instructions on how to build it from source, I was a bit apprehensive on whether to use their instructions verbatim (just to see if it is easy to install/compile) or not. Here is the relevant section of their website & the URL -
You need the packages tcl, tk, tcl-dev installed on your system. (i.e. files libtclxx.so, libtkxx.so and tcl.h) Get the tarball at: ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/stable-snapshot.tar.gz or see the page: http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/download.html and type (as root):
# tar xvzf stable-snapshot.tar.gz
# cd ruby
# ./configure
# make
# make test
# make install (this will install ruby under /usr/local)

My question is: Do I follow the instructions & download the ruby tarball to get the correct libs & other bits? Or do I rely on pacman to find the correct files? I chose to do the latter but I ran into a problem there, in that I cannot seem to find any package named "ruby-tk" in any repo through yaourt or pacman. I did a lot of searching in AUR too & for the life of me I cannot find any application that provides this (seemingly) obscure file. What am I doing wrong?
Secondly, I did try to install from the binary tarball they give at the top of the page. However when I go to run the application, I get these errors:

I realise this is likely due to missing files of some sort (ruby-tk being one of the said missing deps I'm sure) but I wondered if someone might glean a bit more information from this error message than what I am able to puzzle out. Is there something else amiss?

* I did not build glGo alone, I had extensive help from jacko & sigi, for which I am very grateful. I still cannot seem to make a menu entry for it properly with the pkgbuild nor upload it and I don't know why. However that is for the original glGo thread, I wished only to acknowledge those people who should be accredited for the aid they provided to this arch-newbie.

Interesting application. Thank you very much adlucem, I will definitely look at this application and see what it can do. I've been looking for a decent Go app that runs under linux and also has tutorial/teaching capabilities built-in. The only such app I have found until now is Many Faces of Go, a purely windows client, that does work with Wine (or so I am led to believe). I'd rather run something platform agnostic or specifically made for the linux environment.

Another day & another disapointm

Any idea when the x-fi driver will be issued. The last was on 0/05. Good thing we did not expect something along the lines of a timely fix. Which is really kinda surprising since the x-fi is the latest and greatest. So either they really don't give a $hit(which I hope is Wong) or they might not be able to fix it(which I also hope is Wong). But either way they get our bucks($300.00+ in some cases) and we get screwed once again. Oh and many thanks to Cat for deleting my last post. Way to go guys! Ok Cat fair question so I'll answer it. Myself and a LOT of other creative customers are really really pissed. We felt let down and that you guys are not really trying. No let me clarify, not you but the techs who write the drivers. Now I know its not a simple job to write drivers but dam it should'ent take 6 months to get a driver that works! It also apperas that the hardware was not really tested and it kinda pisses me off that at $300 bucks I end up being a beta tester
Now if it was a couple of guys with these problems I could say ok, but look at how many posts there are. How come nvidia and ati can post driver after driver in such a short period of time and you guys can't. Now I know you have to give the company line, but were does it end?

I'm still trying to figure out how the Playbook is a piece of junk. I just got mine today and all is working fine, including auto spell check. As someone above already said, it sounds like it's not ALL PlayBooks, just yours.
For what it's worth, your post of no use to anyone in its initial rant state. I figured you changed it but either way you have two people here that would help you if you just asked.
If it were me, I'd reload the OS on it. If you're interested I'm sure someone could walk you through it. If not, then there's not much point to this thread.
This is a support forum, not a rant forum. It's where the community of users (not RIM employees) comes for help from other users (also not RIM employees) on how to solve problems and find tips and tricks.

Yes.
Simply right click on Lion Installer icon on dock and choose "Pause". When. Ack, click there again and resume it.

Calendar shows entries from another day

Hi. My wife has an issue with her Z10 calendar after the last OS upgrade (now using the last official SW version 10.2.0.424). Her Z10 is configured with one Gmail account (with 2 calendars in it) and with one Facebook calendar. If she looks in the calendar (f.e. month view) and when switching between the days to look at the entries overview in this days, the calendar stars suddenly to show in a day entries from another day. Its very annoying. She has to close the calendar, start it again, than its correct again. But after a moment it starts again to do the same problem. We tried to restore the factory settings and restore the backup, but it didnt help. Do you have the same problem or do you know how to solve this issue, please?

I would to do the factory reset, but before restoring the backup, try the calendar(s) to see if the behaviour still there. It maybe some corruption in the setting that is the cause, and when you restored the settings it may have restores the corrupt one as well.

Ah! But no, that's not a bug, either. Once you create a user account, that name is locked. You can't change it. For this particular name, all you can do is ignore it. It will eventually be archived off the servers, never to be seen again.
To start over, you have to fool your web browser into believing you've never been here before. Launch Safari, but do not navigate to these forums. Open Safari's preferences and click on the Privacy tab. Where it says Cookies and other website data, click on the Details button. The trouble is figuring out which one to remove. I think it's apple.com . Try removing that cookie and then come here. If you got rid of the right one, you'll be able to create a new account.

I can't get that message to go away or work on the ical now at all. I try to force quit ical and have shut down the computer and it still comes up. Any suggestions?

Try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. To find that Library folder, if you are using Lion, use Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart.
Next, make sure that you are not connected to the internet. Then to to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and remove any files with "Cache" as a part of the file name. Use the same method as listed above to get to the correct Library Folder. Log out/in, or restart and check iCal for functionality.

Just another day in Final Cut Server ****

I have an installation at a client where the Watchers periodically stop working, for no known reason. Today I spent about four hours trying to get the system to start responding, doing the normal steps such as uninstalling and reinstalling FCServer, compressor, etc. Eventually the only thing which brought the system back to life was to restore a database backup from the 23rd of February, which is odd because the system was working fine until around 1:43 PM on Friday the 27th. I can not figure out why this might be, but suffice to say the client is not happy about the four days of work lost. (By work, I mean annotations) Any suggestions of how to trouble shoot this would be appreciated.

I used to have this problem when I ran Qmaster/Compressor on the same server as FCServer. Now, I have FCServer send the render jobs to another xServe...runs perfectly and for months now.

Itunes match deletes random songs from my iphone, even if i re download them from the cloud, the next day another 3 or 4 are deleted by itself, anyone know a fix?

anybody know how i can fix this, i already tried to turn off itunes match off and on again on the iphone but it does not seem to work, also artwork once downloaded into the iphone it does not stay there, the next day its just a blank artwork and after the internet circles in the top left of the iphone stop spinning, i go back to my music library and then back to the song and it downloads it, but it does not stay there forever, any fix?
it would be kindly appreciated since this is a very annoying bug, specially the songs that just get erased from my iphone for no reason.

Sorry to hear of your frustration with Music Match on your iPhone. You should be able to delete the music from your iPhone by following the steps in this article:

Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
Tap the Music app.

Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.

Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

WRTG160N drops vpn first one machine enxt day another. Also flaky browsing

i have a new 160n w/latest firmware.
My wife vpn's in to work and was working fine for a few weeks.(only change was VPN IP Address done a few days ago but worked with new IP for few days)
now the machine she used will not connect. it was working then suddenly was disconnected. when we try to connect it never gets passed 'verifying name/password'.
I tried reinstalling drivers/resetting tcip ect. but nothing worked.
I gave up and grabbed the laptop via wireless and set that up. worked great for the first half of the day and then did the same darn thing.
We swithced back to our original sonicwall router and guess what, works like a champ again on both PC's.
Router is the problem!!!
one other thing that was not working was visiting facebook.com and 1 PC. it would go to the page but stay loading FOREVER! cleared cache, reset internet setting ect ect . now with original router works like a charm too.

You may try to Upgrade the router's firmware...Download the Firmware from here , though you might have the same firmware already installed on your router you must still Flash the Firmware...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful" After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...See if that makes any difference...Also change the MTU to 1400 on your router set-up...
