Another Download Question

Somehow, Itunes decided to change where my stuff was downloaded, and tried to put my recent purchase of NCIS on the C: drive which doesn't have enough space to put a full HD season. I changed it. Now instead of downloading 14 items, it still wants to try and download the origonal as well. Will I be charged twice for this glitch? How do I stop it from trying to download each episode twice?

It did this because the place where it was set to save downloads wasn't available. external hard drive disconnected or not powered up is the usual reason.

Im pretty sure the HD season comes with an SD version to put on an ipod. So, you let it download and then delete it, if you don't want the SD version file. If you are charged for bandwidth use, and don't want to waste your allotment on a file you'll not use, contact iTS support and ask them to remove it from your download queue.

Another newb question: multiple virtual servers

Hi, I have yet another ignorant question. I have several unrelated web projects that I am working on, and I would like to be able to set up a virtual server for each one for testing purposes, such as: http://project1, http://project2, http://project3. Can someone tell me if this is doable, and if there are any tutorials/resources on this for someone who has 0 experience running a web serer? Sorry for being so ignorant!

Yes, it is doable.
You can setup virtual server either by IP or by name.
If you have one IP, and want to set them up by name (ex. http://project1, http://project2, http://project3) you can do so easily with this type of configuration:

....The important part here is that
a) all virtual servers share the same HTTP listener
b) which virtual server serves the request depends on the $HOST request header send by the client. Sun Web Server does the matching for you. It will match $HOST vs. the virtual server's host attribute. Depending on which site you connect to the right virtual server will be used.
c) if the $HOST request header does not match any of the virtual servers, then the default virtual server defined in the HTTP listener will be used.
To create a virtual server, use the Admin GUI, access the configuration, and then add new virtual server. Or use the following CLI command.
wadm> create-virtual-server --config=myconfig --http-listener-name=http-listener-1 --document-root=/www/docs/myserver.com --host-pattern=myserver.com --log-file=../logs/myserver.com-error_logs myserverHost pattern will be used for matching. Some of this elements might be optional.

Paid for Mountain Lion...need another download sent to me

I installed Mavericks but my computer ran slower so I wanted to go back to Mountain Lion. Unfortunately my last Time Machine backup gave me Snow Leopard. (It had been a while since my last backup...) However, I purchased Mountain Lion (and still have the emailed receipt...thus I can prove I paid for it) so is it possible to get another download sent to me? I see that it's still available for purchase in the iTunes Store so I'm hoping that means Apple will send me another if I show them the email receipt. Just don't know how to go about it.

Old apps that run under Snow Leopard will not run under Lion? That's cruel.
Two problems: Snow Leopard has the Roseta-environment, that emulates a PowerPC. Lion does not have this any longer, so you can only run Intel-Applications in Lion (or universal binaries).
My PowerPC Applications look like this in Lion - I see quite a few "ghost busters" - mostly device drivers for my Nikon Scan, Panoramamaker, etc.
Since MacOS 10.7.4 the next generation of Applications is approaching - 64bit-only-applications, and 32bit plug-ins will be left out - all 32bit-only external editors. The newest version of Aperture requires a 64bit Intel processor and will not except 32bit plug-ins- all older NIK plug-ins are a problem.

Pressing Enter on Download dialog starts another download (OSX Yosemite)

Since I upgraded to Yosemite (OSX 10.10, running FF 33.0.3), when I download a file and press Enter to save to Downloads, this starts another download of the same file (while also saving the original file). This didn't use to happen on Mavericks, so I'm hoping there's an easy fix for it. Any ideas much appreciated.

No, what happens when I press Enter (with the download dialog focused) to save a file in any folder, the file saves, but another download dialog pops up immediately. It looks like Enter is activating ("clicking") the link to the file again, even though the main browser window doesn't have focus.
I'm not running any antivirus software or the like and this problem only started when I upgraded to Yosemite.

i write tool for downloading applet on card. I use apdu trace from NXP eclipse plugin as source of information and i read also about cap-file format in Java Card Virtual Machine specification. And i have questions about data transferred by LOAD command.
As example - from apdu trace i see that transferred data are "C4820E33 DATA1 DATA2". Full length of transferred data is 0x2EE2.
C4 - OK, this is "Load File Data Block" tag as specified in Global Platform
820E33 - OK, this length of tag, =0x0E33
DATA1 - sequence of cap-file components: Header.cap, Directory.cap, Import.cap, Applet.cap, Class.cap, Method.cap, StaticField.cap, ConstantPool.cap, RefLocation.cap. Length of DATA1 is 0x0E33, i.e. DATA1 = 'C4'-tag value.
DATA2 - sequence of two cap-file components: Descriptor.cap and Debug.cap. These components are out of 'C4'-tag.

1. Global Platform does not define any data in LOAD command except 'E2' and 'C4' tag. Why DATA2 is transferred out of any tags?

I assume you ran the project in JCOP Tools in debug mode against the simulator? If you did this against a real card it would fail as it does not have an instrumented JCRE capable of debugging code. You could try running the project as opposed to debugging to see the difference.

I am new to CC, and have one question.
Do I have to download the applications on the PC where I will be installing them, or can I use another PC to log onto CC, somewhere else (with faster internet connection) instead and just tranfer install files to the proper PC?

Yes, another Airport question

I am having a common problem (as I have seen from numerous google searches) with my airport card in my Macbook. I am running 10.4.11 on the white macbooks that came out about 3 years ago...My Macbook has been awesome for almost the entire period of time, however, I keep losing my connection with my apple airport wireless router. I tested the connection with another computer and the signal is strong all over the house....I, however, have to be about 5 or 6 feet away from the router in order to receive a strong signal, and even then it fluctuates between 3 and 2 bars.
From searching literally hundreds of posts, I cannot quite find an answer/solution to my problem...I have deduced that I either have a wireless network in the area that is interfering with my network or I just need a new wireless card in my macbook.
I looked up wireless cards on ebay and it seems like I can get one pretty cheap, but I would be very apprehensive to open up the computer and install it, for I would probably screw it up somehow. If I were to buy the card on ebay and schedule an appt. with a genius, do you think they would install it for me...I don't mind paying. My appleCare warrantee has expired long ago...so, I am not sure if they would even consider helping me.
Also, I have seen that I could update my OS from Tiger to Snow Leopard, but I don't want to do that if it is not necessary. I have made sure that I have the latest firmware updates and everything and it seems all up to date.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

If you take your laptop to the coffee place or other location and can connect with no problems, your wireless card is fine. If you continue to have connection problems, it may be that wireless card is in need of replacement.
Have you downloaded a utility like iStumbler, www.istumbler.net to get a look at the signal strength and noise on your network? The bars at the top of the screen are not a very good indicator of the actual signal on your network and tell you nothing about the quality of the signal.
Look for other networks in your vicinity and note in particular what channel your wireless is operating on. There may be other networks on the same channel or adjacent channels that are interfering with your network. Cordless phones and security systems at the neighbors can also cause problems with any wireless network. Most modern routers allow their users to create "hidden" networks that can't be seen but cause problems nonetheless. Not much you do about that.
AirPort Utility will allow you to change the channel on your wireless network if you suspect this may help matters. You may need to experiment with a number of different settings to find the best compromise, particularly if you are in an area with a number of networks.

HELP - Dial Up Download Question from a Mac Mini Tiger OS X 10.4.6 Newbee??

There are hugh download files (133 Mb for 10.4.7 for example) that appeared when I ran Software update the first day I got my Mini. This would require 10 to 12 hours download on my Juno account. One solution I saw in these forums was to have a neighbor with High Speed connection download and burn a disc. My NEWBEE question is... Can you go to the Apple OS X download page and successfully download the 10.4.7 update (and others) using a Windows machine with Windows software?? Then have that Windows PC burn a disc that can transfer the update to my Mini?? I'm breaking new ground in my neighborhood and appear to be the only one with a Mac. BUT what do you mean by a "hybrid" data CD? I'm a NEWBEE, so could you give me a little more specifics, i.e., what package/brand & model should I buy? I was thinking any CD-ROM would work! I have a downloaded music folder, which contains all music that I have downloaded through file sharing. These songs are not in my iTunes library.
My iTunes library only contains my CD collection and music purchased on iTunes.
I don't want to combine the two.
So my question is... Will consolidating my library merge all the music on my system into one place, and therefore into iTunes, or does it just put the songs in my iTunes library into one place, and leave my 'file shared' music how it is?

The 9 box new tab page got replaced by something called Delta Search when I downloaded an update for something. I've never had this issue before and I don't know how to get Mozilla to bring back my old 9 box tab page.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

Oracle 9i AS Portal download questions

I read the installation guide for Oracle 9iAS (the guide for all of AS, not just the Portal component). I have some questions that were not addressed in the documentation.
1) Do you need to download the entire Oracle9i Application Server in order to download and access the Oracle Portal component? I understand there's three levels of downloads (minimal, standard, and enterprise), and that even the minimal edition contains Oracle 9iAS. However, I was hoping to minimize space and memory required when working with Oracle Portal. (I just need to configure databases and manage database security, both of which can be done using Oracle Portal.)
2) I already have Microsoft Peer Web Services installed on my computer. (That's the development environment in which you can test Cold Fusion and ASP code.) Will this conflict with the Oracle 9iAS, since both are servers that may affect, or be affected by, network configurations - even if they're both in a local, standalone test environment?
(I can't just remove PWS since I do need it for testing Cold Fusion and/or ASP development code.)
3) I understand that in order to download Oracle 9iAS, I need to already have access to an Oracle database. What mimimum version of Oracle do I need to be working with? The installation guide states that I can find out more information about database requirements at http://metalink.oracle.com. However, I can't even register for this site in order to access it, because it requires a "Support Identifier (CSI, SAC, Access Code etc.)" However, the CSI for the company where I work has expired - so I can't access that area for info.
It seems that I may need to use Oracle 8i. I just downloaded the Installation Guide for the Oracle 8i Personal Edition. Would that be sufficient to work with a standalone (personal edition/evaluation copy) of Oracle9i AS?

1)Portal is an integrated component of 9iAS. You need to download all of 9iAS and select the minimal install option.
2)We haven't tested this configuration, but as long as you set up apache appropriately to use different ports than the existing software it should work.
3)Portal requires 8.1.6.2 Enterprise edition or 8.1.7 Standard edition. Personal Edition will not work.
