Another ENCODING PROBLEM... Please hellp!

Hello....this is a long one...gets some coffee.
Many of you have no doub't seen the movie "Ground Hog Day" with Bill Murry. Great movie. Well, in fact, the sequel is being made right here in front of my very own computer screen, with me waking up every morning with the same iDvD problem. I'm now in the 5th day. The only difference, I haven't come to the part where I kill myself, but it's not far away.
I have been editing a project for 3 weeks now, and finally finished the editing part in iMovie HD 5.0.2. Last Monday, I started the iDvD encoding to make a disc. And for some reason, it will not encode. It just sits there for hours and hours and hours (6 or so to be exact) I have tried, and re-tried the process using many different ideas to the possible cause. I have scowered the internet, and thought I had some good leads as to the fix, but still nothing. It just sit's there.
Now, I have authored and made DvD's before, and no problem. But those projects weren't as big as this. However, they encoded and burned fine.
Actually, the first time that I sent this file to the iDvD program to start the encoding, did the blue progress bar start to move....but only after a looooong wait. It got 3/4 of the way through, and all of a sudden .... it stopped, closed out, shut down, went to heck and everything else. A friendly message came up saying "iDvD unexpectedly quit."
I figured that out, without them telling me. Since then, I can't even get the blue progress bar to show up.
I have a G4 mirrored tower (duel 1GHz 1MB L3 per and 80 g drive, and 768 ram. The movie has been edited down to 58min, 35 seconds and 15 frames, from over two and a half hours of imported video. The left over video was trashed to create more space of 25.6G of which is now available before I sent to iDvD.
I am trying to burn to a 4.7 disc, and no longer use the best performance setting, but the best quality setting. That didn't help. I tried deleting the assets. That didn't help. I tried throwing away the idvd preferences, re-starting, and re-authoring the project. That didn't help. I've tried a local psychic (they've never worked for me - why did I do that?).
This movie is a wedding with a ton of effects, transitions, edits, music, etc. The whole project folder weighs in at 22.67G, and 21 chapters.
Some suggestions to me, get more than 768 ram, and some say I need more storage space. A local college teacher tells me that I have plenty of storage space, and thought that 768 ram should do the trick. What the heck?
One thing I noticed today: I checked the thing called console log, and there are what looks like several hundred entries like this:
2006-04-22 22:53:20.974 iDVD[390] playlist track 12 contains bad track id
and a few like this:
2006-04-22 23:55:53.367 iDVD[480] Path (null) given to -[NSWorkspace iconForFile:] is not a full path.
Is this some kind of clue as to what's going on?
One other thing: The video was originally shot in analog, then converted. Someone suggested the time-base signal may be different. But I have shot analog before with no problem.
I just don't have enough time and knowledge in this area to continue a never ending experiment to find out why this particular project will no longer encode or burn.
I have done everything I can think of, short of dumping the whole imovie project folder and starting the editing process over again. That is not an option. I have to deliver this next week, or, or... I will have to move to a nearby cave. I guess I could go out and buy a whole bunch of ram and extra space, but if I don't need to, I don't want to.
Please help! And thanks in advance to anyone!

P.S. I ran a hardware check, no problemo.

I'm having similar issues, but the export to tape, reimport trick did not work. I appear to be having a problem with iDVD itself. Even when I trash the preferences, and launch iDVD, and create a new black project, the following appears in my console:

    Thank you.
    Now,
    Usually crashes in encoding can be traced back to:
    1. corrupted media files
    2. improper naming conventions
    3. disk storage issues.
    We need more information.
    What format is the original material?

  • Encoding problem please help..

    I am using XML parser V2.0.7 for C++.
    I have a stylesheet wherein
    <xsl:template match="some japanaese char">
    When I run XSLSample , the XSLT processor thorws an error complaining LPX-314. Please reply

    You have to do two things:
    1. set the stylesheet encoding to japanease/unicode
    2. Save the file with the same encoding using xml editor that support file saving with non-ascii charset. I think xmlspy support this.

    If i change HS_LANGUAGE parameter to UTF16, i can import them in nvarchar2 properly, but it's not what i need.
    Please help!

    Not sure if that hack will work:
    set in the odbc.ini within the Postgres DSN:
    ConnSettings
    =SET CLIENT_ENCODING to 'ASCII'
    Maybe it will then maps youe Unicode Postgres during connection handshake to 8bit characters.
    But that's really just a hack without any guarantee that it will work because your Postgres database is using UTF-8 encoding and your Oracle database is using CL8 character set. So You can't import them into varchar2. This will only work with a Unicode Oracle database character set, else it needs to map  the PostgreSQL columns to a nvarchar.

  • XML deserialize and decrypting encoding problem. Please help me

    This is my first topic here, so at first I'd like to say "Hi" everyone and apologise for my bad english ;)
    I have just finished my new application about signing/checking and encrypting/decrypting XML files. I use Apache XML Security packages to do this.
    Everything works fine, instead of one...
    I'm Polish and sometimes I have to encrypt or decrypt XML which includes polish letters like: '&#261;' , '&#281;', '&#322;' and some others... If I encrypt such file, it succeeds. The problem is when I try to decrypt such an encrypted file. I recieve an error like :
    "[Fatal Error] :2:7: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x19) was found in the element content o
    f the document.

    ... 2 more
    What's wrong? My XML document is UTF-8 encoded, with or without BOM. I wrote in in Notepad++ or any other editior which has UTF-8 encoding.
    I'm parsing my XML with DOM. There is an interesting line in an error above like: " at org.apache.xml.security.encryption.XMLCipher$Serializer.deserialize(Unknown Source)" , do you know that?
    Everything is fine when I try to encrypt/decrypt '' or '&#324;', but things go wrong with '&#261;', '&#281;', '&#322;' and others... I also managed to encrypt and decrypt '&#322;' but unfortunately, after decryption '&#322;' turns into 'B'. It obviously an encoding problem, but how to fix it?
    I would be really thankfull if some of You guys would help me.
    Looking forward fo any answers.

    i write adf page in (JDeveloper 11g Preview 4) when i write any arabic text in the page and submit it the text converted to another encoding, i tried to put the following in the page :
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1256"%>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1256>
    and
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"%>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8>
    but the problem still .
    Please Advice.
    Regards
    Wish79

    I get this question also. Not only "submit" , "Commit" also case this question.
    If I chang:
    Did you specify the encoding for your ADFBindingFilter in your web.xml :
    <filter>
    <filter-name>adfBindings</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>encoding</param-name>
    <param-value>windows-1256</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </filter>
    Regards,
    Didier.
    Then "submit" is OK, but navigation botton will not OK.
    I still try to find out the resolution.
    Now 99% is OK.
    I am use chinese. First I was use GB18030. Now I change everywhere to UTF-8.
    Also *.jspx page:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=utf-8"/>
    But when I use System.out.print("测试"), in Weblogic server consol is display "???".

    The error is a very basic one - the sapmsPRD service is not known. You will have to go to <NT_ROOT>\system32\drivers\etc and add the entry sapmsPRD 3600 to this file.
    This is basically telling the requester at what port to look for the message server.

    Hi
    You should make a mapping for the service sapmsPRD in your /etc/services file (On Windows: C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERSETCservices). If your instance number is 00 you will have to add the following entry:
    sapmsPRD      3600/tcp
    Good luck!

  • Excel Readpage Save as another file problem

    Hi,
    I have attached the VI needed If you have any problems please let me know. This VI reads a excel page the user points to and displays the results. I have added a single cell where you can change the position of a single cell coordinates so that you can point to a single cell of your choice and retrieve that data. So my problem is now I want to save that data from that single cell to ANOTHER excel file. However, this is not working correctly for some reason I do not know why I believe I have done everything correctly hopfully it is just my inexperiance. I will continue to work on this and update it as I get more time but at the current moment I have hit a brick wall. I have visited the EXCEL BOARD and the vi is from there but I had to add somethings to it in order for it to work correctly as before it wouldn't even run because it was missing some connections and nodes.
    Attachments:
    ExcelReadPage.vi ‏45 KB

    I took a look at the toolkits. The VIs are there, the problem is that
    the linkages are a bit screwed up so the top-level VIs think the subVIs
    are in different places. Also, the toolkits were written using an
    older version of Excel, in which the "Range" object had the property of
    "Value". Excel 2003 uses "Value2". So, if you have Excel 2003 even
    after you load up the VI the "Value" property nodes need to be changed
    to "Value2". This is not a fault of the toolkits - this is due to
    Microsoft changing the ActiveX interface.
    As to your issue: Your basic steps are to:
    Create a new workbook
    Write values to cells
    Save workbook
    The "Write Table to XL" that ships with LabVIEW does that. Launch the Example Finder (Help -> Find Examples) and search for "excel". Then, open the "Write Table to XL". The "Table" control is the data that you want to write. It can be a single cell or multiple cells. If you have a single value, just make a 2D array out of it. As it's written it will prompt you if you want to save the file. This is from the "Close" method. You can wire a True constant to the "SaveChanges" parameter and a path to the "Filename" parameter.

  • Axis Type Mapping problem,please help!!!

    i want to try out the encoding subsystem of axis,so i write an interface like this:
    public interface BookStore {
        public Book[] getAllBooks();
    }I use the Java2WSDL to generate the wsdl file and WSDL2Java to generate the client/server side bindings ,of course i implemented the BookStoreSOAPBindingImpl class,then use the deploy.wsdd file to deploy the service to axis.the deploy.wsdd is like this:
    <!-- Use this file to deploy some handlers/chains and services -->
    <!-- Two ways to do this: -->
    <!-- java org.apache.axis.client.AdminClient deploy.wsdd -->
    <!-- after the axis server is running -->
    <!-- or -->
    <!-- java org.apache.axis.utils.Admin client|server deploy.wsdd -->
    <!-- from the same directory that the Axis engine runs -->
    <deployment
    xmlns="http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/"
    xmlns:java="http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java">
    <!-- Services from BookStoreService WSDL service -->
    <service name="BookStore" provider="java:RPC" style="rpc" use="encoded">
    <parameter name="wsdlTargetNamespace" value="urn:bookstore"/>
    <parameter name="wsdlServiceElement" value="BookStoreService"/>
    <parameter name="wsdlServicePort" value="BookStore"/>
    <parameter name="className" value="axis.typemapping.collection.BookStoreSoapBindingSkeleton"/>
    <parameter name="wsdlPortType" value="BookStore"/>
    <parameter name="typeMappingVersion" value="1.2"/>
    <parameter name="allowedMethods" value="*"/>
    <typeMapping
    xmlns:ns="urn:bookstore"
    qname="ns:Book"
    type="java:axis.typemapping.collection.Book"
    serializer="org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanSerializerFactory"
    deserializer="org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanDeserializerFactory"
    encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
    />
    <typeMapping
    xmlns:ns="urn:bookstore"
    qname="ns:ArrayOfBook"
    type="java:axis.typemapping.collection.Book[]"
    serializer="org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.ArraySerializerFactory"
    deserializer="org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.ArrayDeserializerFactory"
    encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
    />
    </service>
    </deployment>
    As you could see, the necessary ser/deser factories are declared.
    and i checked the http://locahost:8080/axis page and found the service is just right there in the list.
    Then i wrote the client like this:
    import axis.typemapping.collection.*;
    import org.apache.axis.client.Call;
    import org.apache.axis.client.Service;
    import org.apache.axis.encoding.XMLType;
    import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
    import javax.xml.rpc.ParameterMode;
    public class Client
        public static void main(String [] args)
            try {
                String endpointURL ="http://localhost:8080/axis/services/BookStore";
                String textToSend;
                Service  service = new Service();
                Call     call    = (Call) service.createCall();
                call.setTargetEndpointAddress( new java.net.URL(endpointURL) );
                call.setOperationName( new QName("urn:bookstore", "getAllBooks") );
                Object[] ret =(Object[])call.invoke( new Object[] {  } );
                System.out.println("book name:"+(Book)ret[0]);
                System.out.println("book name:"+(Book)ret[1]);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                System.err.println(e.toString());
    }But when i execute the client i got the following exception:
    org.xml.sax.SAXException: No deserializer defined for array type {urn:bookstore}
    BookAs you can see,it is the problem that the Book[] can't be deserialized!
    but in the deploy.wsdd the deserializer is declared,so what i have missed?and how to solve this problem please?
    best regards:)

    Some systems are fussy about the method names and some require indexed accessors for array items. I would suggest starting with an implementation like
    public class BookStore {
        private Book[] books = ...;
        public Book[] getBooks() {return books};
        public void setBooks(Book[] books) {this.books = books};
        public Book getBooks(int j) {return books[j]};
        public void setBooks(Book book, int j) {this.books[j] = book};
    }-- Frank

  • Url char-encoding problem

    I am connecting to a web-server. The URL has Japanese characters embedded in it.
    When run from NetBeans 6.8 everything works ok.
    When run from the shell, the server appears to not understand the Japanese characters. For example, if the Japanese characters represent a user name, none of the names are ever understood.
    Default charset when run from IDE is "UTF-8".
    Default when run from shell: "Cp1252".
    I don't want a systemic solution [for example a command-line switch, or config file setting]. I want to control every IO stream's encoding manually.
    This is the test that comes closest to what I think should work:
    ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    OutputStreamWriter baosStreamWrt = new OutputStreamWriter(baos, utf8.newEncoder());
    BufferedWriter bufWrt = new BufferedWriter(baosStreamWrt);
    bufWrt.write(url_with_jp_characters);
    bufWrt.flush();
    ByteArrayInputStream bais = new ByteArrayInputStream(baos.toByteArray());
    InputStreamReader inStreamRdr = new InputStreamReader(bais, utf8.newDecoder());
    BufferedReader bufRdr = new BufferedReader(inStreamRdr);
    String faulty_url = bufRdr.readLine();
    URL webpage = new URL(faulty_url);
    URLConnection urlConn = webpage.openConnection();
    BufferedReader webIn = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(urlConn.getInputStream(), utf8.newDecoder()));
    BufferedWriter response = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream("/tmp/dump.txt"), utf8.newEncoder()));
    response.("checking the the url: ")
    response.write(faulty_url);
    response.newLine();
    while(true) {
      String webLine = webIn.readLine();
      if(webLine == null) { break; }
      response.write(webLine);
      response.newLine();
    response.close();
    webIn.close();
    ....Inspecting the response from the server in the file "/tmp/dump.txt":
    (1) the file is formatted "UTF-8".
    (2) the url, written in the first line of the file, is valid and a cut/paste into a browser works correctly.
    (3) many correctly formed Japanese words are in the response from the server that is saying: "I have no idea how to understand/(decode?) the user name you sent me in the URL."
    At this point I have a choice:
    (1) I don't understand the source of the problem?
    (2) I need to keep banging away at trying to get the url correctly encoded.
    Finally, how can I debug this???
    (1) It works in the IDE, so I don't have those debugging tools.
    (2) My terminal cannot display asian characters.
    (3) Writing output to files involves another encoder for the FileWriter which taints everything in the file.
    (4) I don't have a webserver to act as a surrogate for the real one.
    thanks.

    And I don't know why NetBeans allowed me to get around not using this command.Because of the default charset of UTF-8 that's set in Netbeans.I see that, but something more subtle was happeneing I think. I still don't fully understand. Here is my best explanation. Exact code:
    ....for(File f : files) {
      BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(f), utf8.newDecoder()));
      String jpName = in.readLine().split(";")[0];
      String jpNameForUrlUsage = URLEncoder.encode(jpName, "UTF-8");
      String dumpFileName = (outputDir + f.getName().split(".txt")[0] + "-dump.txt");
      BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(dumpFileName), utf8.newEncoder()));
      URL url = new URL("http://www.abc.cp.jp?name=" + jpNameForUrlUsage);
      URLConnection urlConn = url.openConnection();
    }....In my first post, I formed the complete url, then encoded it to utf-8 using ByteArray[Input / Output]Streams. But, my understanding is that you can't just encode Japanese characters to utf-8 and then append them to a url. A special method call is needed to transform the Japanese characters into something understandable by the URL (and its not as simple as just encoding the characters to utf-8). After posting, I actually made an effort to read all of javadoc for java.net.URL:
    java.net.URL
    The URL class does not itself encode or decode any URL components according to the escaping mechanism defined in RFC2396. It is the responsibility of the caller to encode any fields, which need to be escaped prior to calling URL, and also to decode any escaped fields, that are returned from URL. Furthermore, because URL has no knowledge of URL escaping, it does not recognise equivalence between the encoded or decoded form of the same URL. For example, the two URLs:
    http://foo.com/hello world/ and http://foo.com/hello%20world
    would be considered not equal to each other.
    Note, the URI class does perform escaping of its component fields in certain circumstances. The recommended way to manage the encoding and decoding of URLs is to use URI, and to convert between these two classes using toURI() and URI.toURL().....
    Then, it all made sense. I had already diagnosed that it was just the Japanese character part of the URL that caused the failure. And I remember reading that the Chinese were upset that they could not use asian characters in URLs. So, even though in my browser it looks like a Japanese character is in it, its really not. Chrome browser is doing some transform from what I see in my browser URL and what the actual URL is. That is why cutting/pasting the url I was forming in Java into the browser is not a good representation of what is going on. Chrome, behind the scenes does what the URLEncoder class does.
    Yet, I could very easily be wrong:
    On the one hand NetBeans worked, and the shell did not. The relevant difference being default charset.
    But on the other hand, in my initial post, I completely encoded that url into utf-8 using ByteArray[Input / Output]Streams. I am no expert on character encodings, but if the url I created in the initial posting is not utf-8 encoded then I need a few pointers on how to character encode.
    final thought:
    I can't just encode a Japanese character to UTF-8, append it to a URL, and expect it to work. A browser can make it look that way so its deceiving. That is why there is the class URLEncoder. I don't understand why NetBeans appears to invoke it for me without my knowledge. And maybe its not. Having the default charset as utf-8 might obviate the need for a URLEncoder() call (but I don't see why it should).

    Dear all,
    we are running on 7.0 and we have an encoding problem while reading binary data from MQ-series. Because we are getting flat strings from queue we use module "Plain2ML" (MessageTransformBean) for wrapping xml-elements around the incoming data.
    The MQ-Series-Server is using CCSID 850, which we configured in connection parameters in communication channel (both parameters for Queuemanager CCSID and also CCSID of target).If there are special characters in the message (which HEX-values differ from codepage to codepage) we get errors in our adapter while executing, please see stack-trace for further analysis below.
    It seems to us that
    1. method ByteToCharUTF8.convert() expects UTF-8 in binary data
    2. Both CCSID parameters are not used anyway in JMS-adapter
    How can we solve this problem without changing anything on MQ-site?
    Here is the stack-trace:

    Kind regards, Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    for the first MTB now we are using only one parameter: Transform.ContentType = text/plain;charset="ISO-8859-1"
    The second MTB, which does the XML-Wrapping, is configured like this:
    Transform.Class = com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.Conversion
    Transform.ContentType = application/xml
    xml.conversionType = SimplePlain2XML
    xml.fieldNames = value
    xml.fieldSeparator = §%zulu§%
    xml.processFieldNames = fromConfiguration
    xml.structureTitle = payload
    Both CCSID configuration parameters from the "Source"-Tab we've set to 850.
    Now, we don't get an error anymore - sun.io.malformedInputException - , but, unfortunately, now special character conversion succeeded (we need an "ß" and we get an ISO-HEX-E1 -> á).  E1 is (different from ISO) an "ß" in 850.
    Any ideas?

  • C# GWTypeLibrary - AddressBook Entry encoding problem

    Hello.
    I am using C#(Visual Studio 2005) and GroupWareTypeLibrary to develop for
    GroupWise Client 7.0.
    Working with AddressBook I have faced some problems.
    I am getting display name (AddressBookEntry.DisplayName) for all entries
    of AddressBook. Almost all DisplayNames are correct but there are some
    problems with two or three of them (there are some illegal char displayed
    instead of some char of real user DisplayName). I think it is local
    encoding problem bekause I see the same problem with the same users in
    GroupWise Client AddressBook.
    I thought display name is building not correctly but when I tried to get
    these users first and last name I have got the same problem with encoding
    in them.
    Please advice how to decide this problem.
    Regards,
    Alex.

    Sounds like a GW Client problem and not an API problem if you see it in the client address book. Technical Support should be able to help you.
