  • How do I resolve the error "Another installer is currently running, which must be closed before updating" when updating CC on MacOS 10.9.4?

Creative Cloud keeps alerting me to an available update but whenever I try to install it it tells me there is another installer running which must be shut down first.
I've now shut down and restarted the Mac completely and nothing else is running but it still gives me the same error (Error code: 81). See screen shot below.
I'm running Mavericks (OSX 10.9.4). How do I resolve this?

    Please try the mentioned steps:
    1. Navigate to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installer and look for CC desktop, if present run the uninstaller to uninstall it.
    2. Navigate to Applications/Utilities and look for Adobe Application Manager folder and Creative cloud folder. If present move to trash and empty it.
    3. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and rename to OOBE.old
    4. Download CC desktop from: https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and try to install again.

  • Photoshop Installation Stalled: Another Installer Is Currently Running

Upon attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended edition, a pop up box appears which gives the message at the foot of the post, however no other installers are running. I've tried rebooting the PC and all my current software is up-to-date but this message appears every time I insert the disc and attempt to install the programme.
I’m currently running the Windows 8 operating system but as far as I’m aware this shouldn’t affect the install.
Any help would be very much appreciated as this is becoming increasingly frustrating.
    THE POP UP BOX SAYS…
    Adobe Installer
    We've encountered the following issues
Another installer is currently running, which must be closed before installing this product. Please close other installers.

Firstly, thank you for your help and suggestions.
It seems the cause of the fault was nothing to do with Photoshop at all, but rather something to do with a recently installed version of Microsoft Office 2010.
Ultimately, shortly after my failed attempts to install Photoshop, Microsoft Office 2010 caused a computer crash, which corrupted a number of Office files and in order to avoid further complications, Windows elected to revert to an earlier back-up of the system (pre Office installation).
When I attempted to install Photoshop, following this system revert, it installed first time with absolutely NO COMPLICATIONS AT ALL.
To anyone else who receives the error message displayed at the top of this post, I urge you to check whether Microsoft Office is hampering the install.

I have to force quit Bridge to get out of it. I tried to uninstall Bridge and re-install it but it did the same thing. Any ideas where to go next?
The fact that I uninstalled Bridge and reloaded it has me concerned as to what to do next.?

You need to force quit all other (real or fake) instances of the Application Manager.  Instructions differ between Mac or Win.
A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.

  • Firefox will not open, try to reinstall and message states firefox must be closed before install can begin.

firefox will not open. when i try to reinstall firefox the process stops. the message tells me to close firefox before i can proceed. but firefox is not running.

    Prez,
I too have had this problem a few times with several different versions of FF.
What you need to do is to open a window to Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and on the 'Processes' tab look down the list for Firefox, highlight the entry, then click "End Process". Accept the warning that pops up. You should then be able to uninstall.

That is precisely the WRONG thing to do. You should never delete, but uninstall.
Now you need to look for, download and run the Adobe CS Cleaner tool.

I have a MAC Pro from 2011 currently running MAC OS 10.9.5.  This weekend I cloned the MAC HD drive to a new SSD drive for improved performance.  The clone was completed successfully with no errors.  After the clone completed I successfully restarted my system using the SSD as the boot device.  I then successfully tested all of my products, including Photoshop CS6 and all of its plug-ins.  I successfully tested the key features that I frequently use.  Today while attempting to launch Photoshop CS6 a message is being displayed indicating that a scratch disk cannot be found.  All drives are available on the system via the Finder and Disk Utility.  I can access all drives including the old MAC HD which is no longer the boot device.  I've even attempted to launch Photoshop from the old device yet the same error persist.  Is there a way to review/edit/change Photoshop preferences if Photoshop doesn't launch?  I've even restarted my system several times to see if that would resolve the issues.  Does anyone have any recommendations for this issue?  Have you previously address this issue?
    Thank you Gregg Williams

Garbage which operating system are you using?  Have you tried using the Task Manager/Activity Monitor to close the offending application/process?

  • Couldn't install Firefox 6 because the setup saidall firefox must be closed before proceeding and no other programs were open. couldn't go back and reinstall 3.6.

I was using firefox 3.6. Received a message to upgrade. I downloaded firefox 6. In the set-up procedure the error message "saying firefox must be closed to proceed." No firefox or other program was working.
Gave up and found 3.6 wasn't working any longer. Tried to reinstall 3.6 and the same error message stopped me.
I am sending this via Internet explorer.

I have the exact same problem, same version of CS, and exact same error details.
In my case, I had CS4 installed and running fine for a couple of months, under Vista Ultimate 64 on a Gateway P-173XL FX laptop. Then my hard drive crashed and I rebuilt it from scratch, reformatting and reinstalling the OS.
CS4 was one of the first apps I tried to reinstall. I had some trouble with it, as the installation kept running into errors:
Adobe Color JA Extra Settings CS4
         Error 1603. Internal error 2203.
         C:\Windows\Installer\33f6ffc.msi   -2147287035
Per advice from this forum, I downloaded and ran the CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility to make sure all vestiges of the failed installation were removed. Tried the installation again, and got:
         Adobe WinSoft Logistics Plugin
         Error 1603.  Internal error 2203.
         C:\Windows\Installer\3833d9c.msi    -2147287035
Same error, different place. Tried again:
Adobe Color NA Recommended Settings CS4
         Error 1603.  Internal error 2203.
         C:\Windows\Installer\3cb0bc.msi    -2147287035
Lather, rinse, repeat. A little different this time:
         Adobe Bridge CS4
         Fatal error during installation.
This time, when I tried to run the CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility prior to another attempt, it failed with the same error that rdhinman reported:
File "CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.py", line 1263, in  RemoveSessionFromCaps
UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode  character u'\xe0' in position 163: ordinal not in range(128)
         C:\Users>
Needless to say this is highly frustrating, especially since the installation and operation of CS4 pre-crash was flawless. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

  • Must update firmware before installing OSX Tiger on OS9

I'm trying to bring an iMac G3 with OS9 to life. It's brand new, never been used before, and doesn't yet have internet. I will get internet (Airport Card) soon, but first have a software update problem.
After starting the iMac, I have inserted the install DVD for Tiger. The computer says it must restart to install, and when it restarts, the computer says it must update firmware before installing. I have to choose a system with which it will start up and my choices are:
    OS9: Hard Drive
    OSX: Install DVD
My 3rd option searches for a location, and ends up restarting in OS9.
Every option either results in the inevitable error message that the firmware needs updating or using the OS9 environment.
I read Apple support saying that firmware needs to be updated to fix this problem. Support suggests updating firmware from the OSX install DVD, but I haven't found such updates on the DVD, and need to overcome the firmware problem.
Please help, I am anxious to use my computer!
    Thank you!
iMac G3   Mac OS 9.0.x   updating to OSX Tiger

    Hi, Kristine -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
You can download the firmware update you need from either of these Apple KBase articles -
Article #58174 - iMac: When to Install Available Updaters
    Article #86117 - Firmware Updates
In order to install the firmware update, the machine must be booted to OS 9 on its internal hard drive. It's a good idea to have no external devices connected when you do it, other than the keyboard and mouse. If you can, print out the ReadMe that accompanies the update.

  • "Installation is forbidden by system policy -  Error: 1625" when installing Adobe Products.

    Hi All,
We run Windows 7 Ent 64 bit OS in our company and recently we have started getting the following error "Installation is forbidden by system policy -  Error: 1625" when installing Adobe Products even though i am logged in as an Administrator.
We do not have any policies configured in our enviroment to restrict installations.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    May this will help you...
Error 1625: This installation is forbidden by system policy occurs when installing or updating TurboTax.
    Possible Causes
You're not logged in as an administrator.
Your Windows Installer system policy prevents you from installing digitally-signed software updates.
    Solutions
Log on to your computer with administrative rights, and then install (or update) TurboTax.
If that doesn't work, you will need to enable installation of digitally-signed software updates:
    Windows 7, 8 or Vista
Hold down the Windows key and press R to bring up the Run window.
On the Run window, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
On the Local Group Policy window, navigate to Local Computer Policy, then Computer Configuration, then Administrative Templates, then Windows Components, and then Windows Installer.
    Double-click Prohibit non-administrators from applying vendor-signed updates.
Click Disabled, and then click OK.
    Windows XP
Click Start on the Windows taskbar, and then click Run.
On the Run window, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
On the Group Policy window, navigate to Local Computer Policy, then Computer Configuration, then Administrative Templates, then Windows Components, and then Windows Installer.
Double-click Prohibit non-administrators from applying vendor signed updates.
Click Disabled, and then click OK.

    Photoshop CC

    Hi,
Have you ever uninstalled Photoshop CC and installed Photoshop CC 2014, or uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014 then installed Photoshop CC?
If that, please re-install you uninstalled Photoshop, and remove GuideGuide from Extension Manager before uninstall.
Another option is remove extension manager database file, then launch Extension Manager to install it.
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Configuration\DB\ExMan.db (Windows)
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db (MAC)
But please notice that all your previously installed extensions will not be shown in Extension Manager after you removed database file.

I'm a recently transformed "Windows to Apple" user, and I need to run various Windows software.  Before installing Windows, I would like to hear from experiences from users if it works well. Also, I have an "Office for PC" that I need to re-download, however I was advised by someone that this software cannot be downloaded even if I had Windows in my MAC and that I will have to buy a new "Office for MAC" software.  Thanks.

Yes, what you are looking at will work.
"Most of this would be for access to the shared folders which is not the same as RDP, correct?  So i could
have myself connect from school to pull a word document, my friend connect from home to get the excel spreadsheet for our table top gaming, and my family connect to pull pictures from the shared folder on the server all at the same time.  Because they
are accessing the shared folders it is not a RDP where they are accessing the server itself for administration."
This statement is correct.  All of them would be able to be accessing the shared folders at the same time.  This is the purpose of shared folders.
"the 1 user and RDP part is where I'm getting a little confused i think.
For the RDP part I thought that only applied to the server itself and not any of the client computers
connected to the server.  So you are still limited to the 2 users to connect concurrently to the server or a client computer at any time?"
Sorry, not trying to confuse you.  You mentioned to connect to a local machine at the same time.  If you are staying away from RDP, then you won't have this issue.  I would keep all shared folders on the server,  not on any workstations.
You are correct 2 people can be RDP into a server at once.  For client computers (workstations) you are limited to 1 person at a time.  If you setup Anywhere Access correctly,  then your friends and family should not need to RDP into a
client computer, they should only need to access the shared folders.
Something to keep in mind...for Anywhere Access to work, you will need to purchase a public certificate.  You can do this from GoDaddy.com, Comodo or others. I would recommend either Godaddy or comodo.  They make it easy and give plenty of instructions
on how to obtain the certificate.  You will probably also have to purchase a domain name, and a static IP from your ISP.  To fully do what you are looking at, it will take some out of pocket $$.
