Another instance of severe new problem in iCal - events duplicated infinite
This is like other posted problems. I just went Leopard - Snow Leopard. Have used iCal for years and consider myself experienced. On my first attempt to add a repeating event following the OS upgrade, the repeating event was duplicated hundreds perhaps thousands of times before I even completed the entry in the popup dialog. As you all know, that dialog does not allow cancel or delete. The event is duplicated multiple times in the same day. It seems to have no termination date. It cannot be selected in order to delete it. The color is even a pastel shade of the group color that it was supposed to have.
I have turned off iSync and hope that I can remove theses ridiculous events before they spread to every Mac and Ipod.
I cannot find a database to delete or I'd delete it and try to resync from me.com.
Help, Apple -- we need your attention on this one. It is definitely a **** up in iCal.
O.k. - I am not experienced in spite of many years of using this turkey. First of, the sync/don't sync button in preferences - forget it. iCal syncs with MobileMe no matter what the setting. Bummer - except that once the hundreds of duplicate, repeat events are transfered to MobileMe, you can delete them from the web interface - unlike the iCal application that forbids deleting unwanted events.
Second new discovery. You can put in a repeated event on the MobileMe website with no trouble but, bummer again, the new event on MobileMe does not sync back to the iCal on the iMac.
Final and most important discovery. I got the problem in the first place by blindly supplying the information asked for and, I kid you not, iCal 4 asks for the end date of a repeated event twice. If you answer the question twice, as I did, you get N * N events. So I hope I can avoid the problem in the future. But really, iCal needs methods to delete repeated events. Also as a former long-term Palm user, I sorely miss the option to restore a calendar from another machine. (the ability to sync or overwrite the local application).

Problem creating iCal Events from Mail in Leopard
The new function that allows the user to create iCal events from Mail messages is quite impressive and very useful. Unfortunately the data detectors seem to have trouble with certain commonplace date formats. While the detector recognises the date, it cannot activate an event in iCal. For instance the data detector will pick up the dates in these formats and create iCal events:

30/10/07
but not in this format:
30-Oct-07
In the latter case, the data detector recognises it is a date, produces the drop menu, but will not carry through and create an event to iCal. It's annoying in that many companies use the latter format in their communications. Any workaround?There is another problem I have found.
I have my computer set in international settings formats to show the date in the "English format"
January 4th 2007 is 4/1, however an entry in mail 4/1 is put into iCal on the first of April!
I found this out after looking for a meeting I knew I had put in for next week.

Problem Adding iCal Events Received via Email (used to work fine)
My wife and I share iCal calendar events between our Mac's via email. A month or so ago I started getting this error when clicking on the link that comes with the iCal event email:
"This calendar file is empty. No new events have been added to your iCal calendars."
We are both on Intel Powermacs running OS 10.4.11 and have the same version of iCal (2.0.5). I can still email her iCal events and she can add them to her calendar just fine. But anything she sends me gives me this error.

I had the exact same problem (with my wife's iCal account to boot ). The solution lies in the "(null) informs you..." It turns out that iCal looks at your personal address card to figure out who you are when populating the email. So, if don't have the email address you are sending FROM listed under your address book entry, then the notice is from NULL.
I added my wife's email accounts to her address book entry on her machine (sorry for the bolds, but the details count.) Then I tried sending a calendar event from her iCal to me. This time it populated with her name and it added to my calendar just fine when I received the email.
I hope this solution works for you (it drove me crazy for about two weeks.)

Problem with iCal events after waking from sleep mode
I have a daily iCal reminder that starts playing a playlist in iTunes at 6:00 am. However, if I leave the computer in sleep mode at night, and then manually wake the computer (BEFORE 6:00 am), the iCal event won't play on time...it's delayed 20-30 minutes. Any ideas why?
Have you tried it with a different mouse? I'm no expert, but you might want to find out, if the problem is mouse-specific.

ICal events duplicated, missing in iPhoto calendar
It's that time of year again, when I make my annual calendar. Only this year it isn't going smoothly.
When I go to the calendar settings and choose which iCal events I want, I'm getting all sorts of strange behavior.
Items from two calendars for the same day won't both appear on the calendar. I want to add a July 4 birthday, but I can get either Independence Day or the birthday, not both.
As I added calendars, sometimes events already listed became duplicated or triplicated (not with US Holidays, but other calendars).
Is anyone else having this problem and more importantly, does any one have a solution.
Calendar ordering time is fast upon us. One of the things that makes an iPhoto calendar worth the extra bucks is that it has all the dates I want on it. Help!Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Those are bugs that need to be reported to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

I upgraded to IOS 8 this weekend and have several new problems:
1. Battery Drains in 4 hours
2. I never see LTE any more, just 3G
3. When using iPhone 5s as a PersonalHotspot for my IOS 8 iPad Air, the phone locks up and the wirless signal drops if the phone goes dormant and is revived by touching the screen.http://www.apple.com/support/iphone
This is where you need to address that device issue. Apple updated your iOS to iOS 8 not Verizon.
Or walk into a Apple Retail Store and have them look at it.

Ical events duplicated a zillion times since security update. Isync hangs
I switched to Entourage for mail because there were too many bugs in imail. However i prefer using ical for my appointments etc. so I sync them all. When I first got my Sony Ericsson K800i, I had to purchase a 3rd party app in order to use it with iSync. It worked perfectly. Somewhere along the line isync included the K800i in its compatible devices. That is where all the trouble started . . .
Certain, seemingly random, appointments in my ical/entourage calenders would get duplicated hundreds of times. My phone couldn't synchronise because it said its calender was full. This was entirely because of the erroneously duplicated events. I experimented with a bunch of settings to no avail. Several security updates later, the problem seemed to be sorted. But after the last update it is worse than ever. When I open isync, it just says "refreshing contact groups and calendar information" forever. If I click on "sync" it just hangs. If I try and click on one of the culprit days on my calender (like january 25th which I know has a multitude of duplicated items), ical just hangs with the beachball of doom. So I can't even go in there and manually delete the duplicated items (which took me ages last time).
Help! I depend on having my appointments and stuff on my phone. Not being able to synchronise is driving me crazy!!I am pretty sure that if you check on Version Tracker at

Can I get these events back in iCal or do I have to re enter them? Is there a way to 'revert'? How do I get the ipod calendar to not duplicate events?
Set up my semester's schedule for the university where I teach and now it's all blank on the mobileme and ical calendars on computers.should clarify that I deleted duplicate events on the ipod so that should have left one in ical. there is still one listed in ical on the ipod but not on the computer, so deleting duplicate entry deleted it entirely from my ical on computer and mobile me. no icloud yet

ICal Events Duplicating with iCloud
I'm using iCloud to sync between my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro. I noticed today that on the iCloud website, and on my devices that all past calendar events (up to the date I started using iCloud) are triplicated - there are three of each event (I assume one event was uploaded to the cloud from each of my devices, then pushed down to the others). Is there any easy way to go back and remove the duplicates?

I too found this and did the following.
Login to iCloud and open the calendar. Now uncheck / highlight the duplicate entries and delete, if you also have your iPhone calendar open while you do this you will see if you are deleting the right ones because the events will disappear form its calendar.
Once done log out of iCloud and open iTunes, plug in the iPhone and click theinfo tab then uncheck calendars from syncing. Now click apply and sync the phone. When done open iCal on your Mac and iPad all should be good.
Also make sure you haveno duplicate account in iCal > Preferance > Accounts. -

On your Macs, open System Preferences. If you don't see MobileMe but you do see iCloud under Internet & Wireless then everything is syncing via iCloud not MobileMe.
Try this on your Macs... Deselect Calendars in System Preferences > iCloud then reselect that box then restart your Macs.
See if that prevents the duplicates. -
Downgraded, created another instance, now two rogue windows open automatically in the new instance!!
So I need to open another instance of Firefox so I can log onto other email accounts simultaneously with the first browser instance. I followed the directions and using profile creator, made another profile, and the sync worked (mostly).
However, no matter what option I choose under:
Options -> General -> Startup
I get two ADDITIONAL tabs!!
First one says
"Download Firefox - Free Web Browser
Second one says
"PROFILE.COM"
What gives???If you downgraded Firefox you are now on an unsupported version so please upgrade again and then we can try to help you.
Ther are other alternative methods but the easiest method of logging in to more than one email acount is to open additional windows for the other accounts as ''Private Browsing'' windows e.g. use keyboard shortcut Sift+Ctrl+P

Once a new Released out and security fixes are made and publicised bad guys take advantage of the exploits and that puts your '''System and Personal Data at an increased risk. ''' <br />Those with strong reasons for using an insecure version and understanding the risks may take appropriate steps to mitigate the risk. Possibly using a Virtual Machine, maybe having a well rehearsed bare metal restore procedure.
Perhaps if you say why you do not wish to upgrade we may be able to suggest a suitable way forward with an upgrade and some sort of workaround.
Or are you talking as an administrator of a network of Computers, in which case a special Release of Firefox may be more appropriate.

It may also be worth noting that Fx29 now respects the setting to not upgrade until you agree. Firefox 28 upgraded regardless of the setting if you used the ''about'' dialogue to check the version. -
I am running 10.6.6 on my mac and 10.5.8 on my server and I can not add new people to Ical on my mac but if another user on a 10.5 version of mac can. What is the issue?

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.) -
When I close Firefox and open another instance of it to look at a new site I get a pop up window telling me Firefox hasn't shutdown yet. I am aware of tabs, but I prefer to just open new windows.
Do I really need a pop up window telling me that I just closed Firefox? Is there a way to disable it in options? I can't even use Buzof program to auto click for me. I've never had this issue with any other browser and I find it incredibly annoying.I am not clear what you mean by:

Are you talking about Firefox or something else in the above statement. Firefox will, or should allow you to open quite a few tabs at startup if you wish, although it will be faster the fewer that you do open.

Once XP has loaded ok I can manually start the Remote Management service.
Some PCs are intermittent and don't seem to get it again but a couple get it
every login. I removed the client and reinstalled. I removed the Remote
Management service and re-installed. Re-registered the PC Workstation but no
change for those who get it every day.

I don't have any third party remote control agent installed and I've tried
the refresh of the IP protocol stack. Surprised this has started as we have
not made any changes to the network or software. We run NW Client 4.83sp1
and NW5.1 sp5.

It looks like it's a fault in the nic. it's a Compaq NC3120 Fast Ethernet
card. It used to work, but since I've wiped out the card drivers that were
in use, I'm at HP's mercy. They are telling me that the card is no longer
under warranty and won't even tell me what driver to look for. Anything I've
managed to find has the exact same symptoms:
Client works, ping to IP addresses work, ping to www.yahoo.com (etc) doesn't
work, although winipcfg shows a DNS server the same as every other machine I
have.
Internet explorer doesn't work, even with IP addresses to local servers.
And of course, zenrc32 doesn't work, wsreg32 doesn't work.
Does anyone know of a way of making the NC3120 work on a win98 machine?
Shall I just go buy a couple dozen netcards from a more reputable company
than compaq?
