Another IP Profile Dropped

Hi
Seems to be a pattern emerging of people slowing down due to ip profile drops and im the same.
On infinity 2 i used to get the full speed ie 70+mbs down and 19 mbs up.
I have had a few restarts 2 weeks ago due to a power cut ... then i had some electrical work don in the house so power was on and off etc.
Then had a firmware updaye on my modem ( Asus-DSL AC68U ) which again needs restarts etc.
How ever my conection has been solid for nearly 14 days with very very low crc errors but im stuck with an ip profile of 49mbs and now Interleaved instead of FastPath.
I have read before it can take 10 days to settle and then should creep back up over the next few days / weeks but this doesnt seem to be happening.
My line is very quiet so no problems there.
I was told by BT India that my ip profile is low because im on wireless and should change my wireless channel and itll go back up to 70mbs again   How on earth does the channel im on cause my ip profile to drop???? Its not as if being on the wrong channel causes a router restart . They must think people are stupid and just tell you anything to get rid of you.
I use Insidder and can see the wireless networks around me and im the only one on 5Ghz band and the signal has no noise.
Even testing on a wired connection gives the same results.
Anyway how long do i have to wait to get my full speed service again instead of paying full price for whats now a slower service ??
I will add a screen shot of my router stats .

it does look like it's due to all the resyncs. I had something similar around 5 weeks ago - a fault in the cabinet caused multiple failed resyncs over a 4 hour period and DLM applied interleaving the next day. US interleaving was removed after 15 days but I'm still waiting for DS interleaving to be removed 3 weeks later. Line is stable with only one or two Errored Seconds per hour.
I'm afraid it's just a waiting game...

  • Device Group Profile Drops after changes are saved

Why do Device Group Profiles drops after applying a change? Some will get it no problem but some lose the profile thus losing network connectivity then requiring manual intervention.

Thanks to all who replied, however..
If the settings were stored int he CPL file ( which would be very odd but there it is ) I would expect that I could create a CPL file with the settings I want on one computer, and copy them to the same folder on another computer whose settings I want to standardize in the domain, however, this does not appear to be the case. I copied the entire ..\Program Files\Quicktime folder from one computer which had the settings I wanted, to another computer which didn't. The settings did not follow the copied Quictime folder and contents, so, with all respect and gratitude due to those who replied, I don't think settings are stored in the CPL file or any other file in the Quicktime folder.
In any case, I don't really care where they are stored, I just need a way to propagate a single set of settings across multiple computers in a domain. I've never run across an application before that was so reistant to this type of thing...
    Thanks again

  • Ip profile dropped 10mbps

My ip profile has been 70.85 since May and all of a sudden the last few days it has dropped to 60 mbps,I originally started on 76 mbps which changed after a few days when it settled to 70.85 and has been fine since may and now it has dropped another 10mbps,something is not right here, can support please look into this.

Maybe but why has it dropped 10mb when i haven't had any power outages ? Strange im seeing other posts who are complaining they've lost 10mb also, care to comment bt?
Simple really, it's the bad wheather. Just like you, my Profile has dropped due to the recent wheather conditions increasing noise and the amount of errors on the line. Once the wheather clears, after a week or 2 your line will rise the IP Profile.

  • Another IP profile problem and disgruntled custome...

Right, I'll try to keep calm when posting this...
Since 27th March 2011 I have been plagued by 2Mb downstream speeds out of a possible 7.5Mb.
Before this date I had no issues and nothing has changed in terms of wiring, configuration or the like.
After running speedtest, my line is capable of 7-8Mb but my IP profile is at 2Mb. I have contacted BT on at least 4 occasions and each time they said my profile has been reset and I should wait 24/48hrs for the speed to improve.
Annoyingly, each time I wait, the end result is the same, 2Mb!
Not short of losing the will to live and moving my BB to another provider, I want this issue sorted. It is unacceptable that after more than a week and numerous promises, the issue is still outstanding.
I dont want to speak to 1st line support anymore, they are an insult to my intelligence. Someone from tech/engineering who is reading this that I can have a sensible technical conversation with, please contact me.
    Here are my stats.

Hi this is a peer to peer forum in other words customers helping each other the only BT presence are the Forum moderators
could you first try the following test connect a corded phone to the test socket at the rear of the master socket and then dial 17070 and select option 2 any noise heard there should be reported to bt faults calling 151 and reporting a noisey phone line but do not mention broadband if there is any noise there once solved you broadband connection will improve within a few days also it is worth leaving your hub powered up 24/7 with no restarts for 3/5 days if the line is stable then your ip profile will return on its own when the exchange equipment see the line as stable. Changing isps will not help as they all use the same  copper pair betwen your home and the exchange

  • IP profile dropped - wait it out or call?

I've noticed since yesterday that my IP profile has been dropped from around 40Mbps to 20Mbps. Is it worth waiting a couple of days to see if it sorts itself out or should I just call BT and ask them to rectify?

    Hi switch625,
Thanks for posting. Sorry you're having problems with the connection speed. Can you try running the speed test, including the further diagnostics, and post the results. That'll let us see how it's performing.
    Cheers

  • IP Profile dropped significantly

Problems started occuring around 3 weeks ago. IP Profile use to be 448 upstream, 8192kbps downstream. Now the numbers have significantly dropped too 192 Kbps Upstream, 4224 Kbps Downstream. Ping to first hop has increased from 8-10 to 20-24. Effectively my ping has doubled.
No hardware changes, no problems listed in my area.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3398 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1200-4000 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :4224 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 192 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3726 Kbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 140 Kbps
     Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 192 Kbps
My speeds use to be double those.

On your connection, its not possible for the IP profile to drop as its always 88.2% of your sync speed.  If you type in Google 88.2% of 4320 it will give you your IP profile in decimals points. .
Has your speed always been this low? What was it previously like.
If you dial 17070 and press option 2 do you hear any noise? Satic, hissing crackles etc.. ?
    Have you tried changing microfilters?
Also maybe a speed tweak to increase your speed
As standard, the bell wire should be taken out of any master or extension socket as this can reduce the amount of interference your broadband can pick up and sometimes fixes the problem, see how to remove it here http://bit.ly/4LEKJg .  Make sure you remove it from master and any other sockets in the house

  • IP Profile dropped drastically following outage - ...

We recently had another outage on the Infinity service which thankfully only lasted a couple of days.  However, since the fault, download speeds took a massive hit from 25M to approx 2M.  Speed tests have confirmed and the BT one says the profile is now at 1.93.  Support advised the problem would resolve itself over the next few weeks but that's not the case and are now saying they need to get an engineer out to the site.
I've also been told that this visit could be chargeable depending on what the fault is, so I was just wondering if there's anything at all I should do before confirming the appointment?  I've rebooted the modem and hub, tried a different router, performed the tests wired and wireless.  Anything else?
    Thanks,
    Mike.

This can take 3 or 4 weeks so you need to be patient and not reset the modem again.
If doesn't increase in that time then there may be a more serious fault in the line.
That to me would be unaceptable and I would expect BT to refund the entire amount of my bill until the speeds were what they should be.  Waiting 3 or 4 weeks is ridiculous!

  • Ip profile dropped again

further to a previous post, where my  ip profile had dropped to 135 kbps giving extremely low download speed. After ringing  bt broadband help it went up to 1500kbps for one day only giving  good download speed ( for me ) of 1.4 mbps. IP profile has now dropped back to 1000kbps and download of 877kbps. I'm disaapointed after my initial euphoria at the improved speed. Is such an IP profile reduction normal or should I get back on to bt. The fact i had a 1500kbps profile for one day means my system and lines are ok. Any advice welcome.

Just leave your connection alone no restarts for 3/5 days and your profile should rise again to 1500k

  • Yet another stuck profile?

I think I too have a stuck profile. When I first connected using this modem/router (8 months or so) I was getting between 12 and 15 Mbps. about three months ago it dropped (gradually) down to its present speed. I recently renewed my contract and was told I should be getting around 14Mbps.
I have run all the line tests and they too indicate I should be receiving about 14Mbps. I have tried connecting direct to the socket and done the noise tests and everything else suggested on the forum.
I have included the speed test results plus the stats from my modem. Any suggestions would be welcome.

  • Profile dropped after 9 stable months

OK so I had infinity installed in March and have had a stable 37 meg down and 8 meg up ever since.  My profile according to BT speedtester was 38617k.  I have however got up this morning and seen that my speeds have dropped dramatically (14meg down and 4 meg up).  Looking on the speedtester site my profile had dropped to 15000k, so after a call to India, they identified there was an issue with my line and said it would be fixed in 24 hrs with no need for an engineer to call.
However I have just had a call from India asking if my speed had improved - it has (now getting 20 meg down 5 meg up - profile set at 21000kl), but still nearly half of what I was getting.  I asked for my profile to be reset to what it originally was and was told an engineer needed to come out tomorrow to resolve this
I hope they can restore my original profile tomorrow and this isnt the start of any issues - so far I have been impressed by BT.
    Heres hoping?

    Chris,
Thanks for the reply and the interest.............it went very well back to 37meg down and 8 meg up. The engineer said the culprit was more than likely my old modem (which is one of the first and was due to be swapped out via Kellys in the new year).
The engineer did say it may be a bit of a battle to get the profile reset as it was over 15 meg and they dont normally do it in that instance, however they did and I am good to go again.
I have to say this, im really pleased with BT, I know you only tend to hear from people when things go bad, but my experience has been one of efficient service/results.
Thanks once again - All the best to you and your colleagues/families for the festive period and have a happy and prosperous 2012!

  • Slower connection then usual. IP profile dropped

    Hello
I've always had a good strong connection above 6000kbps to Bt broadband. But recently its dropped by half and my ip Profile is now set to 2.7 mbps according to the wholesales internet test. I have had a few disconnections the past month so this might be the reason.
I however, have now kept my internet on for a full week as advised and my internet is still half of what i used to get.
I have also noticed the noise margine on my line is higher then usual. I've even replaced my modem/filter and connection to the master socket and nothing changed.

that is the connection time to the internet shown by netgear routers so need mods to get connection out of banding
mods will post a link when they read this
as you have posted with sufficient connection time you could try 1 reset to see if that will get you out the banding

  • File permissions issue when putting a file into another person's Drop Box

I frequently drop files from my Mac into a co-worker's Drop Box on her Mac. When I do so, however, the files are inaccessible to her until she does a Get Info and changes the owner to herself.
I've done file sharing of this sort between many different Macs before, but this is the first time I've ever seen someone have to alter file permissions on a file I gave to them--every single time. How can I avoid this problem?

sudo fsaclctl -p / -e [this enables ACLs on her boot drive]
The below two lines can be pasted in at the same time (replacing "mary" with her short user name):
    sudo chmod +a "mary allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file, \
    addsubdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directoryinherit" ~mary/Public/Drop\ Box
That should allow her to have full access to any files put into her drop box. Rebooting might be necessary for the ACL settings to take effect.
Disclaimer: AFAIK this should work because I have gotten similar things working before. But I have not tested this specific solution.
FWIW, it might be easier to just e-mail her the file instead.

  • Another stuck profile :-)

    Hi all,
My first post on here.  I have noticed a slowdown in my download speeds recently after moving my Home Hub. Previously it was linked to an internal extension upstairs and I was getting around 6 megabit download speeds quite consistently. I decided to move it downstairs and connect it to the master socket, and since then my speeds have been between 1.7 and 1.9 megabits.
I ran a speed test on 19th August and got these results:
Download speed achieved during the test was -1745 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
    Additional Information:
    Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
I checked my internal extensions and there is no audible noise or crackling, but just in case I connected the home hub (via the adsl filter) to the test socket and rebooted the hub.  I expected the profile to improve from 2000 Kbps to something much closer to my connection speed, but four days later it is still stubbornly stuck at 2000 Kbps.
A speed test just now gives the following results:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 1928 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
    Additional Information:
    Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
The stats from my home hub are as follows:
    ADSL line status
    Connection information
    Line state
    Connected
    Connection time
    4 days, 8:07:58
    Downstream
    8,128 Kbps
    Upstream
    448 Kbps
    ADSL settings
    VPI/VCI
    0/38
    Type
    PPPoA
    Modulation
    ITU-T G.992.1
    Latency type
    Fast
    Noise margin (Down/Up)
    10.8 dB / 21.0 dB
    Line attenuation (Down/Up)
    11.0 dB / 5.0 dB
    Output power (Down/Up)
    13.8 dBm / 11.9 dBm
I don't think the downstream noise margin is too high (but disappointingly above 6db) so I would expect better than a 2000 Kbps profile speed.
Any thoughts on how I can get the profile reset?  I think it is stuck at the moment.
    Many thanks,
    Mark.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

your noise margin if ok as you have the max speed for adslmax - you have noise margin in hand which is good for when you get upgraded to 21CN
your profile is stuck so email the mods for help  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951
