Another iTunes upgrade question - Pls Help!!

Hi,
Like so many others i too am having problems with the latest update of iTunes. I installed it - no problems. BUT when i went to run it, it wouldn't open. I read in some other threads that i should try and turn off my firewall protection (norton) which i did. When the firewall is off iTunes opens. However when i go to turn the firewall back on - iTunes doesn't open again. And when i try to 'configure' the firewall it freezes.
I'm getting increasingly frustrated and would really appreciate some help.
I use Windows XP and Norton anti-virus, internet security and firewall.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I had the exact problem. My iTune had been working perfectly until I upgraded to 6.0. Now my iTune won't open and every time I try to open up my Norton Internet Security, my computer freezes. Also, whenever I try to shut down my computer, it also freezes. I was up all night trying to fix the problem and it drove me nuts!! Finally, I thought maybe my computer was infected with virus, so my friend, who is a computer technician, took it and he is cleaning it up. After reading the posted messages, I'm so glad that I'm not the only person with this problem. I think Apple needs to come up with a solution quick, otherwise, there are going to be a lot of angry people out there. When I get my computer back, I may try to get McAfee instead of Norton. Have you read the other postings and try some of their suggestions, ie msconfig?

after going through a lot of troubles and a whole bunch of errors, I managed to get through the ipod set up process ...and i'm now trying to install itunes and it gives me the 1607 error...so i'm trying to follow the instructions (from one of the threads here) to fix this error and it says:

step one tells me to delete the "driver" folder. now,
step number 2 is a bit unclear to me. where do i go to do this step?

If you are using GUI_UPLOAD in 4.7 then the file path whatever you are using currently it won't work. Replace the file path like this.
P_FILE LIKE RLGRAP-FILENAME.
DATA: V_FILE TYPE STRING.
V_FILE = P_FILE.
Now take this v_file for function module.Then only it will open the file otherwise you won't get unable to open file error message.
I observerd that you are getting so many fields from the file to the internal table.

If you mean that you're aren't getting the reset link as described in the steps half-way down this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312, then that will only show if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account.
If you aren't getting the link then you don't have a rescue email address, and you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the above HT5312 page to add a rescue email address for potential future use

Syncing requires a backup as part of the sync process.
Delete any existing backups in iTunes under Edit > Preferences > Devices (or simply move them to a different folder on the computer) then try a backup or sync.

Another iTunes upgrade!

In the last 18 months I have upgraded iTunes + QuickTime EIGHT times as I was prompted to. While I do appreciate having the latest software and bug fixes (I'm used to frequent updates as a Windows user!), I have recently noticed that iTunes leaves copies of old iTunes + QuickTime installation files on my computer each time it upgrades! I had to look hard for these files, but found over 400 MB of old files at the following locations...
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\Installer Cache
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations
Why doesn't iTunes clean up its own mess, and since it hasn't, is it safe for me to delete these files myself? Can anyone provide safe cleaning instructions to keep my precious hard drive space safe from these unneeded files?

I'm grateful for you pointing out yet another place where our disk space is needlessly being consumed.
Don't know if any of this will help, but here are some observations.
I have noticed several other areas where iTunes+QuickTime chew up far more disk space than seems necessary. However I must refrain from agreeing with your opinions (at least in writing) as on more than one occasion moderators have silenced me (closed threads) for daring to imply criticism (even if constructive).
For another area of questionable(?) space loss, refer to my recent post "Cached files gobbling up space" in the "QuickTime for Windows" forum.
After reading your post, I only found the problem on my XP computer to exist in the first of the three locations that you mentioned. (Around 55 MB.) On my Vista computer, there's 60 MB used in the equivalent folder:
C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache
So at least in those folders it appears that I am suffering less than you are, though the space is still significant. But here's a possible difference between your situation and mine. Because of this and other issues, these days I refuse to update this software "in place". While it's more work, I will not install a new iTunes and/or QuickTime without first uninstalling the previous version (which, thankfully, doesn't wipe the iTunes library).
Perhaps because of this my computers are only holding the latest install files, while yours may be retaining your whole install history?
As for "How I can get help from Apple", sorry I can't help. In my experience whenever I've asked that, I've had some loyal forum member tell me that these are only user forums, and that Apple does not read them. (Except, it seems, when it is deemed that some of us break rules by appearing to be critical. Or do they silence us without reading?)

Iphone not syncing after updating itunes 10.5. pls help

Hi apologies but I am new to all this stuff. I updated itunes to version 10.5 and I think my iphone 4 was synced in during this. After itunes had updated I found that my iphone wasnt synced in any longer. I pulled out connecter and re connected but still nothing. Rang apple tech support (on hold for an hour in cue). They tried couple of things and then advised to uninstall itunes then reinstall. I have done that but still not recognising iphone. I can sync to my other apple computer but if I try and upgrade to iOS5 on that it says I need to go to the normal computer it is synced with or I'll lose some apps etc. I dont think my iphone has the latest iOS 5 on it yet. Can anyone pls help? Apple support now closed :-( thanks

I am also in the same boat.
Windows 7 on Alienware laptop - no problems at all until upgrade of iTunes client to 10.5.
After the upgrade, attempts to sync my iPhone 4 hang at "Step 1 of 4: Backing up Rob's iPhone" (for over 12 hours)
I have read hundreds of documents with various solutions.
1) Delete backup file from C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
2) Stop stuck MDCrashReport and AppleMobileBackup processes
3) Reinstall iTunes
It all FAILS. I work in IT and can assure you that nothing changed but whatever was changed by the iTunes application as it was upgraded to 10.5. This 2 day extravaganza is ridiculously frustrating and creating a rabid anti-apple sentiment in my house. Why the F would you (Apple) release something that is mandatory for me to use with my iPhone and have it be this buggy P.O.S.? (Rhetorical - no need to answer, please just fix this problem so I can sync and backup my phone).

MOV is a container format which may contain all kinds of codec, while iTunes only import MOV whose video codec is DV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, or AIC.
Even if the MOV meet the above requirement and supported and playable in iTunes, it will still fail to sync to iPod/iPad/iPhone/Apple TV if the MOV video does not fit the specification like resolution, bit rate, aspect ratio, size, and audio codec of the iPod/iPad/iPhone/Apple TV.
In order to successfully import MOV to iTunes as well as sync MOV to Apple TV, iPod, iPhone, iPad, we have better convert the MOV video to a more compatible video format.

Can i use output of one report in another report?? Pls help!

I have a requirement where in i execute Report_1, inside that report_1, there is a pushbutton,
when i click on that, it executes Report_2.
My Report_2 creates some output xml and displays it too.
What i want is, i want to keep this output (xml) coming from report_2 and use it in my report_1
for further processing. Is it possible???
I donot know how it may work:
Approach1: Is it possible to take this output from report_2, place it in some sap directory server
as some file which is accessible for that session or client and then call it from report_1
Approach2: a tedious approach, to download this file using function modules, and then in report_1,
i can upload that file using the file path.???
Is there any other way? Is approach_1 possible. Coz i think that would be easier.

to best of my knowledge you are getting the data in to an internal table.
if this is right you can save this data either in ABAP or SAP memory
using EXPORT IMPORT or
SPA/GPA
this way you can use one program data in another.
hope this will serve your purpse.

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content is not allowed?.

Upgradation problem pls help

I imported my oracle 8.1.5 database dump in oracle 8.1.7 but when I want to connect to my instance thru a client machine one error message comes as "
problem in connecting to the database, check whether it is started or contact sys admin" whereas the database is in open state.
Then when I connected to sqlplus at the server, it gets connected but some messages also come as below"

Another RAM upgrade question

Hi everyone,
I know there seems to be lots of RAM upgrade questions here but hey thats what forums are for.
I'm looking to upgrade my macbook's RAM it's currently got 2GB (2x1GB)
Is it possible to purchase 1x4GB and put that with one of my current 1GB sticks to create a total of 5GB?
I would be interested to know if this is possible or if anyone has tried it.
