Another Lightroom CC that won't Launch

Bought the Photoshop/Lightroom CC combo.  First the installer downlaoded Lightroom 5.7, which worked, but wasn't what I bought. Then the installer downloaded Lightroom CC which crashes immediately at launch with the following error:

Logging out and in doesn't work. Uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't work. Using the Adobe clean install /CCleaner doesn't work.
Lightroom 5.7 and Photoshop run fine. Running Windows 7 SP1.

After trying almost everything with no luck I decided to just reinstall Windows and now it works. It's not an ideal solution by any means but I needed to get this to work.  Hopefully someone will figure out a less drastic fix.

  • Lightroom 1.1 won't launch upon registration

    Hi everyone,
My name is Janyne and I was hoping someone here could help me with a problem I am running into with Lightroom 1.1 on a mac G4 osx 10.5.8. I have installed this old version of lightroom because my computer doesn't have intel and i needed the older version in order for it to work on my very old computer.
I installed Lightroom and it won't launch after the registration page. I put in all my information and serial number and it gives me a green check then i click finish and nothing happens. No highlightable options in my menu bar either.
I have tried the newer lightroom versions on trials but i decided to go with this old 1.1 to ensure that my computer was capable of running it well.
Any one have any technical support they could offer me on this ? I have some photos already in a library somewhere in my computer but i wouldn't know where to look to find it or any other lightroom files that could be getting in the way of my program launching.
    This sucks, Please help.
    Thank you,
    Janyne

You need to reinstall iPhoto as it's missing bits of itself.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Lightroom 5.5 won't launch

updated Lightroom and Photoshop to the latest and greatest today, June 18th. Installation of each went without any incident. Photoshop CC2014 works fine. LR 5.5 won't launch either by double clicking on desktop, from the programs folder or running as administrator. Have logged out of Creative Cloud and back in with no luck.
LR won't run on either laptop or desktop. If i try double clicking on the catalog itself, nothing happens either.
    Ideas please.

    ***** FIXED IT *******
So it looks like if you update LR via the CC menu bar it causes this issue!
I had to downgraded to 5.4. Once I started 5.4 a window came up asking me to Update (I figured I'd give it one more go) Downloaded 5.5 from this link Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5
Once installed it worked great! I had the splash screen fail on two Macs and they both work great now! So stay away from the CC update windows!!

  • Another iMac G3 that won't boot

Hello! I too, have an iMac G3 (slot loading) that won't boot. I press the power button and get the "happy mac" icon, but nothing else. If a CD in, you can hear the CD drive. I have tried various tricks, including command option P R, but nothing seems to work. I am now going to try my CD that came with the computer, but am wondering which I should try first, Apple Hardware Test, Apple Software Restore, or what?
    Thanks, Beth

No, your remark is NOT dumb. Sometimes you need to quit the disk utility and than re activate it to see all of your options such as "verify permissions" and "repair permissions" which should be on the left side while the verify disk and repair disk is found on the right side.
You also might want to try booting from the install disk and than running the disk utility program or if that's what you are doing than open the utility program as soon as it shows up on the screen.

  • Another K8T Neo that won't post . . .

I'm having the same problem about my system not going through POST.  D-bracket shows 4 red (CPU damaged or installed improperly).  I've read all the previous threads dealing with this issue, but the distinguishing fact in my case is that the system has been running fine for four months.  What started to happen is that the system would lose video unpredictably, though the power to the system remained on (could hear fans and, I thought, HDs).  And now it won't boot.
Despite having the system work fine, I do have a couple of suspect components.  My PSU is an Antec True 380, which puts out a maximum of 18A on the 12V line.  I understand that this may not be enough.
The other x-factor is my memory.  It was, at the time, on the list recommended by MSI: 2x 512MB Kingston DDR PC3200.
Anybody have any insight, given the machine's history of working fine?
    Thanks for your help.
    Steve

I now have two machines with a similar problem.
Symptoms are - machine hung after hardware install (windows had booted and was installing the driver). Hit the reset button. Machine cycles but then no POST, no video, (no anything much).
    D-leds indicates Video/Video Memory/Memory problem.
RAM and Graphics worked fine in other machine.
One was a brand new M/B,CPU,RAM, PSU
other was running fine for 12months until I decided to add a network card.
I consider it highly unlikely that I've blown the PSU on two cases - alas they're both the same model as I liked it so much I bought another.
This seems to be a common problem.
Would be delighted to find a definative answer !!!!
p.s new M/B,CPU and RAM have been returned under warranty
p.p.s not a K8T. in fact two different model M/B

  • Another iBook G4 that won't boot

A couple of months ago I started having problems with my airport. Then I started having kernel panics because of said airport. I'm out of warranty with this iBook G4 so I just turned the card off and kernel panics disappeared. However, recently I started having problems starting up - primarily because it didn't appear to be powering down properly. To get it to start I'd have to hold down the power button until it hard shut down (even though it in no way appeared to be running) for several seconds then push it again.
Tonight it crashed while sleeping. I hard shut it down as it was completely unresponsive. It wouldn't start back up (sometimes you'd hear that click and whir and then nothing, other times nothing at all, and sometimes it would click and whir and the hard drive would start but no chime and no screen.)
I have reset the PMU/PRAM, and I can get it to the apple screen sometimes by holding down beside the trackpad - but it still kernel panics there.
I figure I have to replace my logic board - but I find this quite unacceptable for a computer that's 1.5 yrs old and am looking for other solutions/registering a complaint the only way I know how.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It does sound like you might be having logic board problems. If pressure to the left of the track pad seems to help, you might be a candidate for the logic board shim which has been extensively discussed on this forum. It is a homemade shim which presses on the logic board and causes better contact.
You might run the Apple Hardware Test and see if it shows up anything. You could also use Disk Utility to verify and repair if necessary both permissions and the disk. These are just maintenance things that might help. Please post back if anything shows up.
If the logic shim would work for you, it at least won't cost you anything.
    Good luck!

  • Updated lightroom and it won't launch

when i updated lightroom from the creative cloud app the program will not launch

    I have the same issue.
I'm on a 27" iMac, with all current updates.  It opens fine on my  older MacBook Air.
I've tried rebooting, uninstalling, repair permissions, etc all to no avail.

  • Lightroom CC 2015 won't launch.

I've installed and uninstalled Lightroom CC 2015 three times. However, so far I can't get it to launch.

Can't get it to launch, either on a MacBookPro running 10.10.3. (Works fine on my MacPro with 10.10.3, been using it all afternoon.) MacBookPro has been rebooted.
I briefly get the splash screen for LR CC, but it crashes immediately. Tried to relaunch repeatedly, but same issue.
UPDATE: Got it working by signing out of CC app and signing in again. Then LR started working.
To sign out, go to the CC app preferences to find the signout button.

  • Another airport express that won't configure

Further to the other recent posts on this topic I seem to have a similar baffling problem. My set up is this:
I simply want my AE to stream music to a stereo. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router which already gives me a fully functioning wireless home network.
The AE has been configured in the past and has worked absolutely fine. For some reason the configuration/connection was lost recently so I've had to go through the config process again. Lucky me, since I can't now get it to work!
Having followed Ewen's helpful guide entitled 'Express and D-Link routers' posted on Nov 14, 2004 and looked through various other recent posts on this subject I'm at a loss to know why.
The first config steps I take are to reset the AE and establish a hard-wire connection to the router. In attempting to 'configure' the base station using the Airport Admin Utility I've custom changed the single IP address to be distributed by the base station to 192.168.30.xxx under the 'Network' tab (since my router has an IP address of 192.168.30.1). Then under the Airport tab i have set 'use base station to' 'join an existing wireless network' under the Airport tab and added the SSID of my network. I think that should be enough to do the job but the problems come when hitting 'Update' ... at first it looks as though the AE/base station is being configured but before it completes the base station name and IP address simply disappear from view in the Admin Utility window and nothing more happens. While of course the AE itself carries on flashing yellow at me.
The only way to get anything back to attempt configuring again is to reset the AE and start all over. Am I missing something obvious? All thoughts, tips and suggestions gratefully received.

I suggest you follow the advice posted by David Lovell in this discussion:
David Lovell, "Airtunes for XP with a Wired/Wireless network" #1, 09:05pm Jan 8, 2005 CDT
The advice you have been following as part of the configuration - to custom change the single IP address to be distributed by the base station to 192.168.30.xxx under the 'Network' tab - doesn't accomplish anything useful so I suggest you not bother doing it.

  • Another iTunes remote that won't pair.

    Hello,
I am using a MBP 3,1 running 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.02 with my 'new to me' iPhone 4S running 6.1.3.
Here's what I've tried so far in many varying combinations:
disabled both my router and macbook pro's firewalls (itunes was always a signed app)
    reinstalled remote app 3 times
set up, and removed 3689 TDP, 5353 UPD ports to forward to my dedicated IP
cycled home sharing on and off
    cycled remote air control
I hate to be immature about this but I have had better luck getting android devices to acheive this task... With 3rd party apps!
And yes, I have cleared the old remotes.  Do you guys have any ideas?  Thanks for your time!

Captfred is correct. It is possible the remote's buttons are failing, if it isn't doing what it used to do, and still does some functions.

  • ITunes won't launch after system re-install?

I had to reinstall Snow Leopard after my finder disappeared (I'm assuming some corruption to finder but who knows).  Anyhow, I've spent all day re-installing Snow Leopard and bringing it back up to 10.6.6.  Many of my third party apps needed to be re-installed as did major apps like FM Pro 11.  But the Apple app. that won't launch is iTunes 10.4.1.  Anybody with any thoughts on why this is happening and how I can resolve it?  Thank you.

I re-verified permissions, shut down and removed all power (inc battery)- restarted and itunes started when launched from doc. I don't know what the difference was, but it seems to be working.

  • 10.4.7 Intel- apps now won't launch

I applied the Intel 10.4.7 Combo updater to my 1 month old Macbook and now most applications will not launch. Safari and Camino both will not launch. Luckily I also have Opera which works.
I click on an app; it bounces once and then nothing as if I never clicked it. Other apps that won't launch: Adium, mail, ichat, address book, itunes, iphoto and others
Apps that do work: Quicken, Imovie, prefs, dashboard, terminal, quicken, and others
Ok after writing all of that, I checked console and saw that every one of those applications actually crashes and leaves a crash log. Each crash log has the same error about the address book as shown below.
Here is the log for Safari:
    Host Name: mb
    Date/Time: 2006-06-27 23:15:07.466 -0400
    OS Version: 10.4.7 (Build 8J2135)
    Report Version: 4
    Command: Safari
    Path: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
    Parent: WindowServer [94]
    Version: 2.0.4 (419.3)
    PID: 345
    Thread: Unknown
    Link (dyld) error:
    Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBook.framework/Versions/A/AddressBook
    Referenced from: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
    Reason: image not found

Ok I fixed it myself. Somehow there was some filesystem corruption which caused some important files to disappear. (Disk first aid told me this.) I restarted in single user mode and ran fsck -yf. It gave me all these horrible file system errors but was able to repair the disk! Things are working fine again- for now.
Now I'll really be happy if this update cures the Moo.

  • Safari won't launch - "System Incompatible..."

I did an archive and reinstall (I'm on Panther), but without saving my settings, so I've been bringing them over manually. I did all of the available softare updates, but Safari will not launch. When I try to launch it, I get:
"The application cannot be launched because this system is incompatible."
I've thrown away my Safari prefs and all the internet plugins (even though I installed no extra plug ins. The Safari version is v1.3. I also have a v1.2.4 of Safari on a second backup hardrive, but that won't launch either.
Explorer launches and works fine as do other programs (so far.)
    Anybody know what's going on...?

    Hi Nolan,
It is so weird that I was checking this very Safari specific post & ran right in to your post Q, try Tom X"s fix let me know how it goes.
    Good luck

  • Program won't launch on Mac for one user but will for another

We just installed a new program (that is Java based) that we are about to start using in our office. It is the WorkFlows client from SirsiDynix. It works fine on my MAC but 2 other users in our office have MACs and it won't launch. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.  We created another user on one of the computers and installed the program and it launches fine. Both users are Administrators. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the program but still no luck. We have ran the Repair Permissions utility on the HD. Is there a tool or software that we can use to compare permissions or settings of the 2 users to find out why the program won't run under one of them?
We have Mac Mini OS X version 10.9.5
Thanks for any help you can give.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
