Wow i wonder what is the most used of all the new apps.
anyway, with the new app can you just click email links and the mail app will open for you to compose an email.

Another Mail question about certificates.

Hi all
I know there have been a lot of posts on that but I didn't find any answer working. I have an IMAP account whose certificate is said to be invalid by Mail.app. I tried ticking the always trust box, it did not change anything. Mail won't trust even without restarting it.
The detailed message is "The certificate for this server is invalid... etc." and then in the display under it "Unable to display certificate." It also works perfectly well in thunderbird.

Can I set up another mail account (AOL) in my Mail Application?

Good day! This is my first time here and I have a question for all you power brokers Can I set up another mail account on my Mail Application? I want to add my AOL accounts mail box to show up in my Mail App along with the .mac mail I get too. Is there a way to set up additional mail accounts along side my .mac account? I would appreciate any help you can give me with this. Thanks again for your time and effort!

How can I redirect all messages to 2 another mail servers?

I wanted to redirect all messages(in and out) to another mail server, I configured as follows,

One e-mail account receives all messgaes and those messages will be kept in sender's or receiver's mail storage.
I want , however, redirect all messages 2 or 3 mail servers.
I tried several things to do this include edit backother.filter(this is written in Sieve ), but I failed.
Is there any way to redirect messages to another mail servers?
Any way would be good , using sieve script, make antoher channel or channel keyword

I tested it but the capture's behavior was very weird, subject had changed to something like,'deliverd status notice', sender had changed to postmaster and additional notice messgae inserted into mail body.The default sieve capture action encapsulates the email to keep a copy of both the envelope information and the original message. It worked fine. It was same as the result of 'redirect'.

maybe there was some 'loop' actions happened.The email produced by the capture sieve action is being "captured" which is resulting in a loop. You can stop this by adding an envelope test e.g.

Another newb question: multiple virtual servers

Hi, I have yet another ignorant question. I have several unrelated web projects that I am working on, and I would like to be able to set up a virtual server for each one for testing purposes, such as: http://project1, http://project2, http://project3. Can someone tell me if this is doable, and if there are any tutorials/resources on this for someone who has 0 experience running a web serer? Sorry for being so ignorant!

Yes, it is doable.
You can setup virtual server either by IP or by name.
If you have one IP, and want to set them up by name (ex. http://project1, http://project2, http://project3) you can do so easily with this type of configuration:

    <document-root>/www/myotherdomain</document-root>
</virtual-server>
....The important part here is that
a) all virtual servers share the same HTTP listener
b) which virtual server serves the request depends on the $HOST request header send by the client. Sun Web Server does the matching for you. It will match $HOST vs. the virtual server's host attribute. Depending on which site you connect to the right virtual server will be used.
c) if the $HOST request header does not match any of the virtual servers, then the default virtual server defined in the HTTP listener will be used.
To create a virtual server, use the Admin GUI, access the configuration, and then add new virtual server. Or use the following CLI command.
wadm> create-virtual-server --config=myconfig --http-listener-name=http-listener-1 --document-root=/www/docs/myserver.com --host-pattern=myserver.com --log-file=../logs/myserver.com-error_logs myserverHost pattern will be used for matching. Some of this elements might be optional.

I want to add another mail login page besides the default mail login page(http://mail.mine.com). This should be accessed as:http://mail.mine.com/soo.htm.
I will keep the default page available too.
Is this possible? where to put this new page? How to config this?

If it doesn't work, you may need to remember that Messaging Express isn't really a web server, it's only a piece of one. . .

But you can setup iCloud email on you old Mac!
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.

You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to http://appleid.apple.com then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

You are not alone in this, Maddy. I had the same thing happen. Apple obviously sent incorrect codes that redeemed for OS X Server instead of Mountain Lion. I called Apple Care who said that it must be some server fluke and that they would get back to me within 24 hours.

Another mail applescript question...

Hi again!
I just posted a topic about how to auto-reply in Mail with an attachment by using Applescript and rules in Mail. I figured I should be able to do this via Applescript but I am having a problem. Nevermind the attachment for the moment but I can't even get a message to send. Take this example:

make new outgoing message with properties {visible:true, subject:"My Subject", content:"My Body"}
end tell
If I run this in Script Editor it prepares a new message (although not yet sent). If I attach this to a rule in Mail nothing happens. As a test I changed the script to simple say display dialog "test" and it does work. So my rule in Mail.app is ok but when I use this simple script above nothing happens. I hope this makes sense and someone can help me to set up a rule in Mail that triggers a Applescript which will send a message...thank you!

Yes I do understand and maybe it's an error on my part but I couldn't get it to work. What I'm doing now is I use an applescript to gather the sender of the incoming message and save it to Address Book. Then I tell that applescript to launch a separate applescript saved as app to send a message to that same person using the info stored in Address Book. It's a bit sloppy too but it works. Occasionally though it seems to send out a blank message??? I will try to experiment more when I get the chance. Hopefully Apple will just fix this bug in 10.5.4???

Another Newbie Mail Question

We have a new iPad and I have it tethered (or whatever you call it) to my wife's MacBook Pro. I have two mail accounts set up in the iPad for each of use. Since iPad is synced to my wife's MBP it reads her Address Book and I cannot find any of my addresses.
My Address Book is on the iMac and I wonder if there is any way to import some of my addresses
to the iPad or if they can be added to my wife'f Address Book?
Nobody said it was going to be easy having two users on one iPad.

Well, it's pretty much designed and meant to be a single-user machine, at least so far. There is only one Contacts app which, of course, feeds and drives everything else.
You can easily import your whole Address Book into hers and then sync that one to the iPad. That might result in some duplication but that's not too serious a problem, I hope. Arrangement details, Groups and etc., will have to be negotiated also.
And as you suspected no, it's not tethering. Think of them as being linked, via iTunes, for syncing purposes.

Mail Questions

I have a few questions regarding the mail program on the iPhone.
First off, is there any way to have junk filtering like Mail on the Mac computers?
Also, is there any way to set up additional folders within a mail account? I have seen some screen caps somewhere that had multiple folders (such as a saved mail, etc) but cant seem to find a way to do it. There is also an option to move emails and I dont see why you need this if the only folders are the inbox, sent box and trash. No need to move an email to any of those, it seems like that would be for an additional usable folder of some kind.
Lastly, is there any way to batch delete or delete multiple emails at once?
I get a ton of spam and was hoping that mail would have some kind of junk filter like the main mail program. But without that, it would be nice to be able to delete many at a time instead of having to delete each one individually. My Treo would allow this by highlighting multiple emails and then deleting. Any way to do that on the iPhone?

If you use IMAP for mail, just using your computer to add another folder to the IMAP server will be reflected on the phone. If what I said just went over your head, ignore it.
For spam filtering, I do it all server side. I have my mail server filter it there. I wouldn't be surprised if they add junk filtering to the phone itself one day though.
