Another memory/cpu question/s

I have searched the forums, and the links everyone has posted , and i cant find a answer to a few questions i have !
#1: I have seen nothing on what brand ram would work using 2-1gb in dual channel ,on the k7n2-Delta , all the tests/talk has been using 512 or smaller ,any ideas??
#2 : Can I run pc3200-400fsb memory (1gbx2) with a 333fsb Athlon-XP-3000+ , and will it lessen or gain performance by doing so??
#3 : What is the highest CPU(socket A) that i can use on the k7n2-Delta(would a  3200+ etc work ?) or am i limited to the 3000+ ,as i seem to get that feeling from some posts i have read , or if it will work would i be better off getting a 3200+-400fsb along with pc-3200 1gbx2 (refer to #2)
The reason im asking these questions is i want to add more ram (currently at 1gb and want to use 2gb ) but im not sure which brand would even work as i have seen nothing posted about using 2gb in dual channel and only a few manufacurers offer 1gb sticks ,let alone a matched set for dual channel, and i am unsure of the REAL limitations of this board and weather i would notice a difference by adding 400fsb ram while still using the 333fsb cpu , then if needed later swapping out my 333fsb cpu for a 400fsb cpu of the same speed or higher , or leaving it as is ,or if i can even do the upgrade i want to do to this board !......any help would be appreciated!!!!

well i tried the board with a barton XP3200 and a Corsair value kit 2x512mb PC3200..
didn't work well.. it froze half of the time.. when playing games... it the texture flickers..
I went to the salesman and changed my RAM to Kingston PC3500 (i know it want work at fsb433!) but underclocking is always good.. still didn't work...
it seems like its incompatibility... and the board seems to be really picky... MSI motherboards are really stabil... but to be picky? comeon... why didn't MSI made it compatible with the best ram out there...
why is it only running most of the ram on PC2700?
i suggest on finding another board if u like ur current ram and it doesn't make any errors in memtest... or check the list for compatible ram in one of the thread here..

  • Memory & CPU Usages

    Hi,
I'm a new user of SJSAS. Currently Ive installed v9.1 on redhat. I would be helpful for if any body answers questions below-
    1. Is it possible to set different limit for memory & CPU usages for different applications, if yes then how ?
    2. How can I monitor memory & CPU usages by different application ?
    Thanks

By "application", I'm assuming you mean different web/ejb/enterprise applications within a single SJSAS instance. If that's true, then the answer to your question is no -- all applications share the resources of the appserver.
On the other hand, if you need to, you can set up multiple instances of the appserver on the same machine, deploy one application to each instance, and control the resources that the appserver itself uses. How you limit the CPU use (and monitor) is then done at the OS level -- I don't know how it's done in Linux, actually. But in Solaris, you could use the Solaris Resource Monitor, or processor sets, or Zones/LDOMs, or any number of things to affect the resources available to the appserver; look for similar things in Linux.

  • P45 Neo3-FR memory problem / questions

    Hello all
My old motherboard just died on me so yesterday I upgraded to a P45 Neo3-FR with an Intel E8500.  Problem is that I can't get it to boot up with my old memory (4 x 1Gb modules as below).  Most of the time the PC doesn't do anything, no screen, no post, but occasionally some weird characters at the top of the screen.  I have put in some old DDR2 RAM and the system starts up OK.  I bought this board as the MSI spec page says it supports 1066 memory.
    Questions,
    1) Is there any chance of getting this memory working in the board?
    2) If so, how?
    3) If not, what should I replace it with?
    4) Do I need to touch the 2 jumpers to change the FSB.  I left them on default and everything "seems" to be working OK but I guess I should be setting them to 333 for my CPU?
    5) I have installed 2 system fans on the MB connectors.  The fans are spinning but the speeds are not being reported in the BIOS.  Any ideas?
    6) Is there a comprehensive setup guide for this board anywhere on this forum?  There was an excellent one for my old MSI board and I'm not finding the manual to be much help to be honest.
Thanks very much (in advance) for any help with all this.
P.S.  I don-t know what BIOS version the board came with.  I will check it when I get home.

I bought this board as the MSI spec page says it supports 1066 memory.
Note that is says "1066* (OC)" on the product page.  The Intel P45 Chipset does not natively support DDR2-1066 memory modules.
This is the datasheet for your Corsair Memory modules:
    http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF.pdf
As you can see, these modules are essentially DDR2-800 modules and that DDR2-1066 @2.1-2.2V is an overclocking rating that requires non-standard voltage settings.  Those OC Settings are pre-programmed into the SPD Chips of your memory modules via an EPP-Profile which is essentially an overclocking profile which is for NVIDIA Chipset boards, not for Intel Chipset boards.  Even if the BIOS is able to notice the DDR2-1066 EPP profile and decides to AUTO-memory frequency to 1066 MHz, it is not able to raise the memory voltage accordingly (it can't, because as I said, EPP Profile Information and settings parameters are for NVIDIA Chipset.)
Do you see now, why your system won't boot?
    Try this:
    - try one of the factory overclocked Corsair stick alone
If that works, lower memory frequency to DDR2-800 in BIOS and check again, if the system will boot with four sticks (you may have to raise memory voltage slightly.
If that fails, put in one of your DDR2-800 sticks, then set FSB/DRAM Ratio to 1:1, save an exit and then try again with your factory overclocked modules.

  • CS5 not using all available memory/CPU

I'm sure this is the opposite complaint you usually get, but for some reason AME will only sometimes use all available memory/CPU power.  I'm on an 8 core Mac Pro, and while AME will sometimes register as using ~%1,000 CPU and just blitz through videos, other times it hovers around %100 and processes at regular speed.  Right now, for example, it's using about 600 MB of memory, leaving over 3.6 GB free.  Is there any way to assure that it always runs at max speed?

There's another thread with a similar set of issues. Other than the disk subsystem, there is another possibility for the bottleneck. That is, the codecs that are used to decode the input video files may not be efficiently multithreaded. Hence the codec responsible for creating the output file, the CPU and the disk subsystem all could be lightning fast and collectively they may all be waiting for frames to be served up by the decoder. You can check whether the disk subsystem is the bottleneck by creating a RAM disk (assuming that you have enough system RAM) and both putting all input files on and writing the output files to the RAM drive.

I want to check all functions of PCI 6534.I have read the user manual..I have some memory related questions. Please help me for that.
1.)If i am using the continuous output mode.and the size of generated data is less than 32 MB.If i want to preload the memory, what should i do?I want that first of all i load all my data to onboard memory & then i want to make start the transfer between 6534 & peripheral. Is it possible? As per me it should be.Plz tell me how should i do this?I think that in normal procedure the transfer between 6534-peripheral & outputting data from pc buffer to onboard memory works parallely. But i don't want this.Is it poss
    ible?
(2).Similarly in finite input operation(pattern I/O) is it possible to preload the memory and then i read it?Because i think that the PC memory will be loaded automatically when 6534 acquires the data and then when we use DIO read vi the pc buffer data will be transferred to application buffer. If this is true,i do not want this.Is it possible?
    (3) One more question is there if i am using normal operation onboard memory will be used bydefault right? Now if i want to use DMA and if i have data of 512 bytes to acquire. How will it work and how should i do it?Please tell me the sequence of operations. As per my knowledge in normal DMA operation we have 32 Bytes FIFO is there so after acquisition of 32 bytes only i can read it.How it will known to me that 32 bytes acquisition is complete?Next,If i want to acquire each byte separately using DMA interrupts what should i do?Provide me the name of sourse from which i can get details about onboard memory & DMA process of 6534 specifically
(4).In 6534 pattern Input mode,if i want to but only 10 bits of data.and i don't want to waste any data line what should i do?

    Hi Vishal,
I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
    1) It is definitely possible to preload data to the 32MB memory (per group) and start the acquisition after you have preloaded the memory. There are example programs on ni.com/support under Example Code for pattern generation and the 6534 that demonstrate which functions to use for this. Also, if your PC memory buffer is less than 32MB, it will automatically be loaded to the card. If you are in continuous mode however, you can choose to loop using the on-board memory or you can constantly be reading the PC memory buffer as you update it with your application environment.
    2) Yes, your data will automatically be loaded into the card's onboard memory. It will however be transferred as quickly as possible to the DMA FIFO on the card and then transferred to the PC memory buffer through DMA. It is not going to wait until the whole onboard memory is filled before it transfers. It will transfer throughout the acquisition process.
    3) Vishal, searching the example programs will give you many of the details of programming this type of application. I don't know you application software so I can't give you the exact functions but it is easiest to look at the examples on the net (or the shipping examples with your software). Now if you are acquiring 512 bytes of data, you will start to fill your onboard memory and at the same time, data will be sent to the DMA FIFO. When the FIFO is ready to send data to the PC memory buffer, it will (the exact algorithm is dependent on many things regarding how large the DMA packet is etc.).
    4) If I understand you correctly, you want to know if you waste the other 6 bits if you only need to acquire on 10 lines. The answer to this is Yes. Although you are only acquiring 10 bits, it is acquired as a complete word (16bits) and packed and sent using DMA. You application software (NI-DAQ driver) will filter out the last 6 bits of non-data.
Hope that answers your questions. Once again, the example code on the NI site is a great place to start this type of project. Have a good day.

  • 10.1.3 memory/CPU usage problems

I recently migrated from JDev 9.0.5.2 to 10.1.3.0.4 and impressed with the new features and functionality.
However I've noticed the interface seems significantly slower (eg. code insight and simply inserting a new line of code is much slower), and the memory footprint seems to continually grow. Seeing it at >300M is not unusual.
There are also times when JDev seems to simply hang, and when I look a the JDev process in WinXP, the memory usage grows seemingly out of control as well as gobbling CPU cycles. My only option to kill the process. I'm using a 2.6G Pentium, 1G RAM, WinXP Prof and JDK 1.5.0_05.
Are there known problems with JDev's memory/CPU usage, or known options I can turn off to improve performance?
    TIA

I don't have the memory monitor extension and have turned off all non-essential extensions but still see the memory-growth problem.
One odd thing I noticed is the JDev process on WinXP grows by 2-3MB each time a breakpoint is hit. I verified that same behavior doesn't exist in JDev 9.0.5.2 for the same project, and happens no matter which J2SE I select for the 10.1.3 project (JDK 1.4 or 1.5) or which runtime VM (hotspot or ojvm).

  • Another color management question

    Hi folks,
Apologies for yet another color management question, but Im getting very confused and could do with some help. I use a Canon 10D and Canon 30D. Ive come to LightRoom from Pixmantec Raw Shooter.
As Ive gotten more serious about producing high quality images for both the web and as prints, I thought Id invest in the Colorvision Spyder2 calibration product. So my monitor is now calibrated (quite a difference from what I was seeing!) and I have a calibration profile applied.
My needs are pretty obvious I want my images to look the same wherever theyre viewed including exported files (such as JPEGs) whether this be on my monitor (in LightRoom, a web browser, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) and on a printer.
Perhaps Im getting confused because Im trying to compare what LightRoom does with what RawShooter does.
In RawShooter, when exporting from RAW to JPEG, I can specify the RGB Working Space Im using and then select my monitor profile. I think that what happens is that the export mechanism takes this profile into account and, low and behold, the JPEG looks fine when viewed in any web browser - the colours are exactly the same as in RawShooter. In Paint Shop Pro they look fine too unless I enable Color Management in which case (Im guessing) the monitor profile is, essentially, applied twice! But the upshot is I seem to get the results I want.
What I cant figure out is how I do this in LightRoom. I can make the same adjustments to the RAW image as I did in RawShooter, but there doesnt seem an option for me to select my profile on export to JPEG only the standard 3 color spaces. Anyway the result is a JPEG that looks somewhat different when viewed in a web browser, or Paint Shop Pro with Color Management turned off. However, if I turn Color Management on in Paint Shop Pro, then it looks fine. So Im assuming that my profile isnt accounted for when exporting JPEGs from LightRoom.
So any pointers or explanations would be really appreciated. I also acknowledge that this is my first foray into color management, and feel free to tell me to go and read some introductory article (link please!) and then come back with a sensible question if thats whats needed!
    Thanks in advance.
    - Pete

    Lightroom color management.
a.) Monitor profile used: The profile set as the default in your operating system (e.g. Windows xp). (your monitor profile software usually does this when you calibrate/profile your monitor).
    b.) Working space: ProPhotoRGB
c.) Export color space: You can choose one of the following sRGB; Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB.
There is no option (afaik) to change a.) or b.) the option you choose in c.) will affect how the exported image will be displayed in color managed applications or non-color managed applications.
Non-color managed applications are not able to display Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB correctly. I guess if you wish a consistent display of your images in color managed and non-color managed applications then the only common factor is sRGB and you should export your images in sRGB color space.
The benefits of the other expanded color spaces are in printing and you also would have to get this end of your color management correct. Printing profiles to match your printer and each paper being used etc.
Until you can get this all sorted out you will get better results from sRGB, this is also applicable when using most commercial printing services.

After closing Firefox to use IE8 or any other program (like InterVideo to watch a DVD), everything is very choppy and slow. I have to go into Taskbar, Processes, and close firefox.exe manually (which is using up all the memory/CPU and should have closed before). Then, and only then, does everything behave normally. What is going on and what am I doing wrong or missing??

  • Firefox 27 memory leak (/questions/978195)

I already did this, sorry , but now I include the automated information.....
More than 6GB in 3 hours (MacOSX 10.7.5, 16Gb RAM)
(No time personally to look at this but, I have tagged it as escalate)

I will make a quick comment, but am unlikely to get back to this again before the weekend.
First do not think we are ignoring this or saying it is not a problem. It is a case of it is something often difficult to pin down and must initially be checked and compared with Firefox in a clean configuration, and using memory figures from the Firefox's reporter about:memory.
If you can ramp up memory usage to 6GB in only 3 hours at least it should be relatively easy to demonstrate whether or not something prevents that from happening.
    As a test please
*Make an new additional Firefox Profile,
*Run Firefox in Firefox's safe mode
    *With all plugins disabled
    * Look at memory use by using ''about:memory''
    * Browse for a few hours, has the problem now disappeared ?

  • Memory/CPU glutton

Right after chancing to Firefox 33.0 CPU use jumped insanely compared to 32 or any earlier. Even when I'm not opening anything or there's no active loading CPU use doesn't go below 50% use, when opening pages it takes easily double compared to earlier versions. Pages load slower and rolling them down is un-even.
Basically this version needs some serious work to reduce the load it puts on the memory/CPU, no amount of new options/safety justifies this amount of waste.
    KK

Went back to 32.3, CPU use went down to half, memory usage the same. Exactly what did you add to it to explain/justify that much memory/CPU need?
Tell me when you've fixed 33's massive glutting and I'll use it, this version isn't worth second look.

    Hi,
Is there any GUI/ tool to monitor SQL server 2008 R2 memory, CPU, IO, blocks?
Simply run below query to see SQL Server memory utilization.
    select
    (physical_memory_in_use_kb/1024)Memory_usedby_Sqlserver_MB,
    (locked_page_allocations_kb/1024 )Locked_pages_used_Sqlserver_MB,

    process_physical_memory_low,
    process_virtual_memory_low
    from sys. dm_os_process_memory
Schedule it through agent job and add database mail to send mail to you.
I use Quest spotlight it does no gives memory utilization but shows Buffer cache hit ratio.Which is important parameter to mark.SQL utilizes memory heavily so any tool can flash message like memory utilization high which actually is not correct.I have seen
    it with many tools.
For others you can go for Quest tool.

  • Sorry - Another Memory question

    Hi everyone,
Reading around here about upgrading memory - especially the "you can install more than the stated 1Gb" - I would like to take the plunge and get 1GB memory for my iMac (user-slot). I've been on the Crucial site and have seen this RAM module: - http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=B20F277EA5CA7304 - for what seems a reasonable £65. Would this RAM be OK in my iMac? - You see I also have an iBook (1ghz G4, 12 inch screen) - So if it doesn't work in the iMac I could use it in the iBook instead - Or if the 1Gb works fine in the iMac I would like to put my existing iMac's user-slot memory (512mb) into my iBook's free slot... If this plan makes sense to anyone??? - I would love to know from any of the experts out there if this plan is viable. Thanks.
    iMac 1.25Ghz G4 - 17"LCD   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   768Mb / 80Gb HD / SuperDrive

Sounds like an excellent plan. I have 1.5Gb of Crucial RAM in my iMac G4 1.25GHz. (1Gb "Factory" and 512Mb in the "User" slot). I see no reason whatsoever why this shouldn't work. Crucial won't guarantee it to work in there though but they will for the iBook G4.
    Here are the fitting instructions:
    iMac G4.
    iBook G4.
    kind regards

  • Memory riser question

I have another 2GB (2 x 1GB) ready to install in my Pro when it arrives. I know that I should keep the 1GB (2 x 512) on one of the riser cards and put the additional memory on the other riser card. I’ve also seen it stated that the larger memory should be on riser card one and the smaller memory on riser card two. The question is can I pull out both riser cards, slide the one with the pair of 512MB modules into the number two position, add my new memory to the other card, and then slide that into the number one position, or do I need to pull the two 512MB sticks off the riser card its on and move it to the other card. Or more simply put can the position of the cards be swapped or do they need to be in their original positions.
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Basically, for best performance you need to have Slots 1/2 on both Risers filled. From then, performance is best when you have RAM totals that are even (or 1GB difference) between them. So if you have 1GB RAM on Riser A you should have 1 or 2GB on Riser B.
There is NO difference between the Risers. They are both the same and should be treated as such.
