Another Mic problem. AKG 1000 S

Hi there. I have been searching for a solution to this on tis forum but cannot find a fix.
I have an AKG 1000S microphone (see here : http://www.akg-acoustics.com/products/powerslave,mynodeid,186,id,759,pid,759,_la nguage,EN.html)
Its impedence is 200 Ohms and can be powered by phantom power or a 9V battery, which I thought made it ideal for my use. I.e. Plugging into my Macs to record accoustic guitar. The mic works BUT is very quiet. It has a bettery power idicator that says battery OK. I am not getting noise or pops just very quiet recording. I have to have microphone and speaker volumes set to max to get an audible sound.
The mic is connected to the mac via a 1/4" jack and then a 3.5mm jack into my line in port. When I use am iMic the excess noise is awful. I am wondering if the 1/4" - 3.5mm adaptor jack is stereo and not mono. Would thid make a difference?
Any help please.
Many thanks.

So even though the mic has a 9V battery to give it
power, it is not amplified?
That is correct
What do you think the 9V battery is for?
Condenser mics require power to function, they don't have an amplifier built in.
Would I need the battery if I got a pre-amp?
If the amp supplied "Phantom Power" then no, you wouldn't need the battery.
The cheapest I know of is about $29 for the Behringer UB502 Eurorack UB502 Mixer. This does not supply Phantom power, so would need the battery.
It it were me, however, I'd spend an extra $10 and get the Behringer UB802 Eurorack UB802 Mixer which does supply Phantom Power, so you would never have to worry about the battery dying on you at an inopportune moment.

Thanks for your help!

Mute the microphone in the mixer first (you don't need to hear it normally, just record from it), and see if that hel

Have you tried another mic yet?
Is sound playback okay, or do you experience any static there aswell?

  • Help needed with HTC One regarding mic problem with noise cancellation

I picked up an HTC One last week, and so far I am loving the phone.  Great build quality, screen, sound - all as advertised.
However, there is one very annoying problem I am having.  When I am talking to someone, I can gear them great, but they keep telling me I sound muffled or robotic.  I performed some tests, and the problem appears to be something with the dual microphones and the HTC One's noise cancellation features.
Here are the tests I ran:
Typical phone call, with holding the phone as I normally do on the sides and to my ear.  Call result, pretty muffled voice.  I'd give the call quality a 5/10.
Help the phone as I typically do, but covered the mic hole on the back of the phone.  This definatelyimproved call quality.  Was louder and clearer, but not perfect.  I'd rate it at 8/10.
Help the phone towards the bottom, using my hand to kind of cup the bottom directing the sound to the bottom mic.  This was a further improvement in sound quality.  Rating would be 9/10.
Help phone as normal, but covered the bottom mic hole.  Very low volume and muffled sound.  Rating a 4/10.
Talked directly into the bottom of the phone into the bottom mic.  This gave perfect call quality and volume.  Rating a 10/10!
Talked directly into the mic on the back of the phone. Horrible quality, couldn't hear hardly anything. Rating 0/10.
Speaker phone on, held the phone up and moved it around as I would normally use a speaker phone.  Call quality was really nice.  Id give it 9/10.
Speaker phone on, covered back mic hole and used speaker phone as in #7.  Very bad quality, rating 1/10 for call quality.
Speaker phone on, covered bottom mic and help speaker phone in hand.  Really good quality, even an improvement over test #7.  Would give the call quality a 9.5/10.
Speaker phone on, placed face down on table.  Volume a bit low, a little muffled.  Call quality 6/10.
Speaker phone on, place face up on table.  A bit worse than test #10, low volume and a bit muffled.  Call quality is 5/10.
Based on these tests, I know this problem has nothing to do with the network CDMA connection.  It is obvious that the noise cancellation features are a bit too aggressive, or I have some hardware problem with one or both mics.
I question wether its really a hardware mic problem, because on non-speaker phone calls, talking directly into the bottom mic gives great quality.  And on Speaker phone, covering the bottom mic makes the speaker phone sound really good.  That's why I think there's something going on with the "Sense Sound" noise cancellation.
Is anyone else seeing the same issues?  I want to be able to hold the phone normal on a non speaker phone call and get good quality.
Looking for any tips and advice anyone can give.  Is it worth exchanging for a new one, as I am still in my 14 day window.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Mic problems with all boards thread! What do we do to fix this or do we need a new boa

I have come the conclusion that this is not just a mic problem but a uni'versal line in problem since several devices can be connected thru my SoundBlaster Li've! 24-bit line in port. I'm assuming its a software problem and it seems to be a common problem. The second possibilty is that part of the board is either defected or assembled incorrectly. Either way everyone seems to have made sure that:
    A. there drivers are up to date.
    B. they have dissabled any other audio device in windows or in BIOS.
    C. there mic won't work no matter what port they attempt.
    D. creative software changes of audio devices and mixer still don't change anything.
I came on here for answers yet all i find is questions.
And all seem to be pretty similar. There are many other posts pertaining individual audio cards, yet they all have the same problem. If your having the same problem post here and keep this thread ali've, if you have an answer to your own problems you'd like to share post it here. Hoping for a Creative response to either my post or one of the many other posts on the same subject.Message Edited by syferus on 09-23-2005 0:30 AM

If you have a PCI-GPIB card, you needn't worry about the USB port or whether or not Windows ME supports 1394. All you need in NI-488.2 version 1.70 from National Instruments. Install this driver and then insert your card. Windows should detect the card and find the proper driver.
If this did not happen in the proper sequence, look in the device manager and see if the card was installed as an "other device". If this happens, remove the card in the device manager and have windows redetect it. If this is not a solution, you may consider the ask an engineer page at www.ni.com/ask. Provide as many details as possible.

  • Mic problem & warrenty issue .

    Hiii
I have iPhone 4S which is having mic problem i guess.During voice calls the call receiver at other end unable to hear my voice on handset mode but on speaker mode he can hear my voice.
Also wanted to know in which country my phones warrenty is valid .
    iPhone4S
    Model: MD241LL/A
    Serial No.: DNPHN0Z3DTD6

    Hi Alankar,
Make sure your iPhone case is not covering the mic. It is on the bottom to the right or left of the connector. Have you tried a call without a case on the phone?
Your Model Number indicates that this is a US phone, so the warranty would be valid in the US.
    Cheers,

  • YAPP (Yet Another Printing Problem)

I've found another printing problem - this time with colour printing.
    To my
surprise, Forte (3.0.E.0) can print in colour (at least on a HP 690C,
    using
NT drivers for the 660C, the printer being connected to a Win95
    machine).
I can print OK with from my NT develpoment machine in colour, but when
    running
the same app from the Win95 client with the printer attached locally the
coloured text disappears. Has anyone else come across this problem?
Is this another of the 'Printing works fine as long as it happens
    non-locally?'
    features?
    Thanks

I wonder if this is related to the printing feature I discovered
where things I print from Forte have a strong tendency to come out in
the same colours as my windows desktop, which is
    typically yellow-on-black.

  • Audigy 2 ZS/ Teamspeak/ Mic Problems/ SOL

I gather from other posts im not the first and probably not the last to have problems with my SB card and Teamspeak Mic function, after MANY painful hours of reading this forum, downloading drivers, reinstalling software and countless tweaks to my SB mixer and Teamspeak options I finally got my Mic to work right. Hopefully my pain will help someone one else, I was ready to give up on my Mic/SB card ever working right till I stumbled on what appears to be the fix to to Mic problem, I made so many changes I will list them all as Im not sure that it isnt the combination of any or all things that made it work,
My set up, front Mic and Headphone jack on computer,
-Go to SB mixer function, above the first volume knob is a red arrow, click on it, it will say digital only output, SELECT this option, turn volume up
-reading left to right on the middle part of the mixer, turn the function ON the first 3, turn off the the following 3.
    - the 6th funtion should be set to microphone, click on red arrow above mic picture and turn on mic boost function.
-Teamspeak setting, go to options screen select "wave" sound, click ok and adjust in and out volumes on settings panel.
This did it for me, I went from no mic, to fuzzy mic, to crystal clear mic after playing with things for 2 days.
I have new faith in my SB card and hope others are smarter than me and figure it out with out all the research good luck.

In the Creative Mixer on the right hand side you should see a separate column with a "Rec" heading. There should be a small upside-down triangle. Click on that and you should get a list. Choose "Analog Mix" which includes Microphone, Line-In, etc. Then to the left, un-mute the source you want.

I have installed 2 ZS card. Output works well. I want to record a couple of old vinyl albums. I cant either through Creative Surround mixer or through windows get either a Line-in or microphone input to select from. I have tried everything but this forum. If anybody has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ipad 2 mic problem

    1. My mic just suddenly has gone out of service. Only some scratching sound can be heard during video recording.
    2. I bought my iPad 2 in NY, March of 2011 - I am currenlty in Saudi Arabia,
         a. Is there any shop that can accommodate me to fix this mic problem?
          b. I have got only a scanned copy of the receipt from the Apple Store in Palisades - am I still covered with a warranty using this scanned copy?

Yes, hold a finger longways over most of the nozzle (if you have one) to confine the suction to a specific area. Also, do it for a prolonged period, and gently use a common pin to loosen any foreign matter that my be in it!

  • HT201328 People can`t hear me during calls but i can hear them (probably *not* a mic problem)

I unlocked the iPhone From AT&T, its working well in browsering and i can hear people in calls, but people can`t hear me (even with earphones! it`s not a mic problem!!) help me please..

I had the same problem this morning. I tried reset on phone a few times. Nothing. Then I restored it from iTunes and it worked fine. This has happened to me before -- don't know the root of it, but restoring has worked so far. Good luck.

  • 3GS Speaker Mic problem

I have a mic problem with 3GS 32GB running latest software v3.1.2. It works fine when making calls in standard mode, but the mic does not increase its sensitivity in speaker mode so that people can barely make out my voice. Speech is virtually inaudible speaking at it from just 30cm away. I tested it and there was no difference in mic volume between speaker and standard mode. The mic mesh is clean, and removing the phone cover made no difference, nor did restoring the iPhone or changing the SIM/carrier. I took it to the local Apple retailer and 3 other 3GS phones tested all had the same problem, but a 3G worked fine and calls were easily heard in speaker mode. Is this a problem with all 3GS phones?

I have found it myself. When Skype is running at the back plan, the app is routing sounds to ear speaker. Quitting app, solves the problem. This reply is for whom experience the same problem.

  • Iphone4 external mic problems - Ultradisk 4016 Lavaliere Mic

    Hello Everybody
Maybe someone here can help as its after hours at Ultradisk and therefore I can´t ask them.
I purchased two Ultradisk 4016 Lavaliere Mics to record Audio with an iPad Mini and my trusty old iPhone4.
Bought RodeRec too, the pro version. I have set up everything. With the iPad the Lavaliere Mics work like
charm.Really good quality. RodeRec works just fine with the Ultradisk mics.
On the iPhone4, no can do. Running iOS7 with the corresponding version of RodeRec.
Line in / Input is like listening to a hoarse man in a tiny box. I tested the mics with the iPad, they both work
just fine. Out of curiosity I tried my apple headset and I got nice and crisp recording alas with a lot of
scratching as the mic is moving on the fabric of the shirt. I checked that the Lavaliere Mics plug in all the
way, they do. The problem exists in other recording apps too. I hope there´s an easy explanation or fix for it.
Any help, tips and tricks would be appreciated.
And please, don´t state the obvious like "buy a new phone" or "why don´t you just use your headset then".
I will use the headset this weekend as a last resort, but if the mics work on one device, and one kind of mic works
on both, I do not understand why the Lavaliere Mics will not, especially when they work fine on another iOS device.
Here are the specs of the Ultradisk 4016, it is made for mobile "smart" devices:
A good quality metal crocodile style clip, secures the mic in place.
    1 Metre cable 3.5mm TRRRS
    Polar pattern: omnidirectional
    Mic diameter: Φ6.5*5.0 mm
    Sensitivity:-47dB±2dB
    Frequency Range: 20-20KHz
    Output Impedance: =680 SNR: >58dB
    Standard Operation Voltage: 2.0V-10V.DC
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

There is a box in the top right corner of this discussion group labeled "Search Discussions". Just type HV20 in there. There have been a couple of threads lately on the HV20.

  • Can't hear myself talk - No mic playback - HS 1000 headset

I have a Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB headset and I can not hear myself talk into the microphone. I have emailed tech support for the third time and they keep referring me to their help articles on the website but it doesn't help.
I have no option in the windows volume control to turn up or un-mute the mictophone in playback control.
    Here's a screenshot...

I have the same exact problem. I also have XP.
I found the mic volume slider, it's the "Volume" button in the voice recording section. I have it turned all the way up, but still get nothing.
I installed all the latest drivers, Control Consoles, etc etc.
I was pretty much ready to give up.
Update: The microphone can be removed. It pulls straight out. That means, it may not have proper contact.
That was the case for me. I put it back in, and must've gotten it just right, because now it works. I guess the contacts are a bit touchy.
Anyway, If you're out there and getting nothing from the mic test, this may be your problem.

  • Results Recording through QE 11  - Determine one MIC w.r.t another MIC

    Hi All,
While doing Results Recording through QE11, one MIC (Say 'T') )needs to be automatically calculated ,whereas it was manually entered until now.
The value for 'T' should be picked from some Z table depending on some key fields , of whiich another manual MIC (say 'A' )value is a key field.
I can create the Function module and assign it to the MIC in formula. But I am not sure how to pick up the value for MIC 'A' at run-time.
Before saving itself, when 'calculate' button near 'T' is pressed, the FM should be triggered and it should use the value for MIC 'A' for picking value for 'T' from Z table.
Please advise if any FMs/BAPIS are there or any other method.
An F1 at 'A' yielded field QAQEE-SUMPLUS in 'Result' field and QAMKR-ORIGINAL_INPUT from 'Orig. Val' filed of which both are structure fields.
    Thanks,
    Neethu

I'm a maybe little late, but i will try to explain my own problem.
    I'm also working for QM.
I want read data from QAQEE-ORIGINAL_INPUT and i cant and i did succed when i going to see inspection report.
I just have to make some marks in field Accessories for report and u will get data from this field.
But, if i want to read the same data in another place in sapscript i have problem.
It simple i cant get data from structure, is this because the program for form is writen for specific point when it must be write out?
    Sorry for my english.
    Tnx.
