Another N97 or HTC Touch Pro2 ?

This might not be the forum to ask this question but anyway here it is.
I will have to return my N97 in the next days, the decision is pretty much final the combination of SW problems plus the issues with my Network around my area are simply not good, missing calls and not being able to make calls is unacceptable. So I will have to return it.
I really like the N97 don't get me wrong and now that I have learnt so much about it even more. But sadly I will be taking it back in a few days.
I would like to get your opinions guys on whether I should go for another N97 in a different network, I am thinking Vodafone as they have very good coverage in the areas that I need and also they let you use BBC iPlayer.
 Or maybe I should go for a SIM free version. I think Carphone Warehouse always give you one like this.
The other option that I was looking is to go for the HTC Touch Pro 2.
I would like to know what do you recommend guys?  The nokia has so many features but at the same time so many bugs. So I am thinking whether I should stay away from it for some time.
What would I lose if I go for the HTC instead?   I am only buying the HTC Touch Pro2 because is as close as it gets to the Nokia 97.  Or do you know any other?
Leaving 3 is really the last thing that I wanted to do, I enjoyed the free SKYPE calls and free LIVE MSN, but with the 3G reception being so poor on my area added with the problems that the N97 has in swapping between 3G and 2G does not really help.
So if I could get a N97 with excellent 3G coverage in my area then this won't be an issue, and I could keep the N97. Otherwise I would make the move to the HTC Touch Pro2.
Thanks in advice for your help.

The more i read in this forum the more Im beginnig to understand that almost all the bugs and issues that people complaines about comes from branded or network locked handsets. Ive had my n95 for over two years, its generic and has worked like a charm from the first time. Could it be that the branded handsets has more bugs?
I just don't know that but it could well be true.
Looks I had a lot of issues with Windows Live MSN in my 3 N97 such a pain everytime that I get home and used the WIFI, and press the MSN icon the Windows Live MSN will no longer work.  It was so annoying and frustrating it would just stay in the loading screen.  Is it so hard to give a error meesage saying "MSN only works in the 3 Network"
Same thing with SKYPE it just does not work via the WIFI, only on the 3 network.
The reason for these two things is because they are both free  (they do not charge for data sent or received through this). But is so annoying specially as I have an unlimited package anyway and if so the WIFI is a lot better than their network anyway, so I should have the option to use whatever I want. But no in their phone you just can't do it.
In the end I decided to use a different messenger "Palringo" which I can use via wifi or network,  Not sure if these two services (MSN and SKYPE) would work in the 3 Network for free with an unbranded phone, maybe phsyco mania can tell us.
 So there you go these are bugs that only affect 3 phones.

  • Swap HTC Touch 2 for HTC Hero

    Hi, we currently have the HTC Touch 2 on contract with BT (swapped from the HTC S620 in Jan) and we are finding it awful, it is slow, unresponsive and poor battery! Is there any way of having this swapped for a HTC Hero (with the obvious price plan increase).
    If this is not an option could we request another HTC Touch 2 to see if the problem is with the individual unit?
    Thanks,

    Hi Maddock,
    I'll see what I can get sorted out for you but I should be able to get one of those options you mention in place.
    Could you drop me an email with your BT account details and a link back to this thread.  Just sent to [email protected]

    Run the installation on your sync pc... the installation application will run only on a pc, then, activesync installs it on your winmobile device on the next connect session.

  • How to leave full-screen view in Acrobat LE on HTC Touch Diamond?

    Hello
    I have entered full-screen mode in Adobe Acrobat LE on my HTC Touch Diamond, but I cannot leave full-screen mode. There is nowhere on the screen that gives me a button to leave full-screen mode?!
    I have tried using the buttons below the touch-screen but I have found nothing that works.
    How do I leave full-screen mode??

    Hello again.
    Well I have tried almost everything with the stylus: Zoom operations (rotations), tapping the screen, pressing and holding, double tapping... nothing allows me to exit fullscreen nor get any on-screen menus to appear!
    I must admit that I am very new to the HTC Touch Diamond so maybe I am being stupid, but I really can't find any way of getting any menus or anything else to show up once I have entered full-screen viewing. My only option is to exit Acrobat by pressing the back button below the touch screen, and then I of course leave Acrobat completely.
    Please tell me how exactly I must use the stylus to exit fullscreen?
    Thank you :-)

  • OTA of Flash Lite Player doesn't work for HTC Touch Pro 2

    When I tried to run a Flash Lite app in HTC Touch Pro 2, it asked for Flash Lite player to run it. I clicked Yes. It returned a message: Adobe Flash Lite is not available for this device. OTA installation didn't work in this case. I then manually installed the standalone player and it installed successfully. My operator is Telstra in Australia.

    Hi,
    Your device will not be detected because it is unsupported by the detection server.  Of course the manual installation is possible but right now we are certifying devices that can be supported.
    You can see the supported devices here, needless to say however we are working on a plan to expand this set:

    Hi, Thank you for the suggestion. Due to ongoing buggy problems with
    Microsoft apps, I am reluctant to try it.
    Do you or anyone else have other suggestions?
    There must be some kind of Creator changer type of program

  • Audio stopped working on HTC Touch Pro 2

    I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 running Windows Mobile 6.5 on Verizon.  Recently, the audio stopped working -- both for the telephone and the MP3 components of the device.  I can't hear people when they speak to me over the phone and they can't hear me.  Playback audio for the MP3 player doesn't work with either head phones or speaker.  If I do a hard re-set, the audio returns, but eventually disappears.  When the audio isn't working, the icon for headphones displays -- as though I have headphones plugged in even when I don't.  The icon stops falsely displaying when I manage to restore the audio.
    Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

    Hello RJLweb,
    I appreciate you providing us with such details. Have you tried to plug phone headphones into the device & do a battery pull? In most cases, this will help the device determine when the headphone is plugged in or not. Also, please verify that the bluetooth is turned off on the device, just in case the device is trying to auto-pair. If these two options doesn't work, then a factory reset would be the next plan of action. Hopefully you have all your information backed up before performing this step. Once you have tried these steps, please respond with your results for additional troubleshooting, if necessary.
    Hope this helps...

  • Htc touch diamond doesn't support sensor API!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hi everyone,
    i decided to purchase htc touch diamond to start building some wonderful midlets!
    But something is wrong with me and my code and not with my mobile(I want to believe this!)
    I decided to get the properties from my mobile using these 2 lines :
    String m3g = System.getProperty("microedition.m3g.version");
    String sensor=System.getProperty("microedition.sensor.version");
    these two lines return two null Strings!!!as i read,if these two lines return null Strings means that the device doesn't support them!!!
    the whole code is:
    * To change this template, choose Tools | Templates
    * and open the template in the editor.
    import javax.microedition.midlet.*;
    import javax.microedition.lcdui.*;
    * @author LiTTle
    public class Midlet extends MIDlet {
    public void startApp()
    Display dis=Display.getDisplay(this);
    String m3g = System.getProperty("microedition.m3g.version");
    String sensor=System.getProperty("microedition.sensor.version");
    Form form=new Form("Supported");
    form.append("M3G: "+m3g);
    form.append("SENSOR: "+sensor);
    dis.setCurrent(form);
    public void pauseApp() {
    public void destroyApp(boolean unconditional) {
    please tell me that my code is wrong!I don't want to believe that i spent so much money for nothing!!!
    P.S. some weeks before i found out that this device doesn't support bluetooth api!!!
    thank you in advance all of you...

    Don't worry. I think I have worked out why. I called multiple
    loadMovie() to load multiple photos. That seemed to have cause the
    app to hang. I have now changed to method to loadClip() and load
    the photo one by one using OnLoadInit event. That solved the
    problem.

  • HTC Touch 2 has been in the washing machine

    Hi
    I unfortunately put my HTC touch 2 through the washing machine . It is not insured and I still have 8 mths contract to run with bt. Is there any thing I can do?
    Would be really grateful for advice.
    Moni

    Dropping in a puddle and a wash cycle and spin at 60 degrees are a bit far apart here.
    Are you sure your house contents doesnt cover devices with a £x excess.
    I did read the other day in The Times of someone whose i phone went into the WC, and she perservered in drying it out, leaving it overnight in a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb all the moisture, but this is as bad as it can get I think.
    I'm afraid unless by some miracle, and with respect, I think it would be a miracle it works after it has dried out, you'll have to take the hit and write this one off to experience I'm afraid.

  • Just Another N97 Major Issue ..

    Here's Another issue in the Awesome N97 ... I left it recording a Video for like 22 min , then I pressed Stop .. It then
     said " Processing " .. then .... TADAAA .. Nothing .. came back to camera View .. No Captured Video was there or even processed
     Lovely Phone :/
     Lens Scratch - Freeze After Phone Calls - SLOW - Self Restart -5MP Camera is Nowhere Near the Sonyericsson 3.2 Awesome camera -Vibrating issues - Mass Storage issues - & the list Goes On & On ..
     This Device Does EVERYTHING that you dont want it to do for 620 $
     I WILL NEVER GET 1 INCH close to a Nokia Device .
     Thank You for wasting my Time & Money .
    N97 .. Working or Not , it's still a *bleeing* Rip OFF .

    I wouldn't recommend the N97 to anyone because it doesn't do what it says it does on the tin.  It's the worse phone I have ever had and I've gone and tied myself in a 2 your contract so I better learn to live with it.
    My handset constantly crashes (I would say a few times a week) it can be when a call is coming through to my phone.  The only way to get it working again is to switch it off and reseat the battery.  On a couple of ocassions it hasn't come back on and I've had to leave it and retry it and eventually I've been able to switch it back on.
    My phone crashed this week and I got some sort of memory error (yes on a device that has 32GB internal memory and I have a 16GB memory card).  I went into the file manager and noticed that the phone memory was low.  I managed between clearing memory errors to get into some settings and changed the save location to mass memory and memory card.
    Prior to the crashing I had a problem with the phone not holding the charge, luckily when I took it back to the Phone4U shop the assistant tested the charger on another N97 had the same problem so swapped the faulty charger for a new one.
    Another weird thing my N97 does is that although I have a default ring tone set the phone intermittently rings with a different tone.
    The BBC iPlayer doesn't work, well that's not strictly true I can get to it but every single TV show I try to view comes up with "Sorry, but to play to BBC iPlayer programmes you need to switch to a WIFI connection".  So I exit BBC iPlayer and connect to the WIFI and then go back into BBC iPlayer and it still comes up with the same WIFI message.
    Oh and yes I recently updated the firmware... and guess what it didn't make a blind bit of difference.
    Nokia I challenge you to sort my N97 within the next 2 weeks and if not you provide me with a phone up to the same value from your Nokia store.

  • Official BT software for HTC touch 2

    where can I get the offical BT software to reload my HTC Touch 2?

    As far as I know, its Windows 6.5 and not a BT Special.
    If you need to do a complete reset, it explains how in 13.8 of the manual.
    196 Chapter 13  Managing Your Phone
    13.8 Resetting Your Phone
    Performing a soft reset
    Perform a soft (normal) reset to clear all active program memory and shut down all
    active programs. This is useful when your phone is running slower than normal, or a
    program is not performing properly. If a soft reset is performed when programs are
    running, unsaved work is lost.
    To perform a soft reset
    1. Remove the back cover. For instructions,
    see “To remove the back cover” in
    Chapter 1.
    2. Remove the stylus to reveal the RESET
    button that is located at the bottom of
    the stylus compartment.
    3. Use the stylus tip to press the RESET
    button.
    Your phone restarts and displays the
    Home screen.
    4. Replace the back cover and insert the
    stylus back into its compartment.
    RESET
    Performing a hard reset
    If a normal reset does not solve a system problem, you can perform a hard (full)
    reset. After a hard reset, the phone is restored to its default settings—the way it
    was when you first purchased it and turned it on. You will lose any programs you
    installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your phone, and only
    Windows Mobile® software and other pre-installed programs will remain.
    Ray.
