Another New Quantum Bug.

Lately I sometimes have trouble turning off the VMS and Media Client boxes using the remotes. The light will go off, and then pop back on. Depending on when I get tired of pressing the STB button on the remote ( 5 times, 10 times), I'll go and use the on/off button on the box. This doesn't happen when I turn the boxes on, only off. Being a bug, it only happens periodically.

I have this happen to me also, except that it occurs if I push the power button to turn it off. After several times pushing the power button, it will finally turnoff.

Another iPhoto 6 bug

Amusing but yet another iPhoto 6 bug (6.0.2). Boy, does this program need some work.
I created a new library, set alias on so it loads from my iView MediaPro layout, and am busy importing. In the information tab on the bottom left, it tells me its busy importing 1595 photos with a total size of 15066192772 GB. I wish.

Did it finish loading the iView files? If so check the size at the bottom. If it's still incorrect and extremely large try rebuilding the library, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed, follow the instructions to rebuild the library, while selecting only the database option. That may clear up the problem.
I didn't note the size when I was importing my iView collection but iPhoto does reports the correct size now.

10.5.2 and new Adobe bugs...

I just recently updated to 10.5.2 and the subsequent leopard graphics update, hoping to resolve annoying little bugs in my Adobe programs. For example, when switching spaces into an open Photoshop document in 10.5.1, all my toolbars and windows would be grayed out (pretty annoying). With 10.5.2, all those windows disappear completely! arrgh... (really annoying)
I was expecting Apple to fix these kinds of bugs with this update, not add to them. Is anyone else experiencing this bug or any other new Adobe bugs?

I don't know if you already has solved your problem, but here's my contribution.
After the 10.5.2 Upgrade, I had the same problem that you with PS CS3 and ID CS3, but before I did a reinstall from 10.5.2 Combo Update, I upgraded my FontExplorer to it's newest version, and trashed the apple.CoreGraphics.plist from my user's Library/Preferences.
After that, it wasn't necessary to make the Combo reinstall. And now, everything is working fine again.
During the problem, I also noticed that my Spaces Preferences Panel didn't work, so I couldn't turn it off. Also, I noticed that doing a log in from another user in my Mac everything worked ok. I think this is the cause of the Adobe CS3 Apps Crash.
I expect my solution works for you, and for others too. In case that you use FontExplorer.

Track recordings on new Quantum Media Server vs 2 DVR's Help

I have had 2 DVR's with multi-room service which allowed us (my wife on DVR1 and family on DVR2) to keep recorded show separate for ease of finding and watching. I have switched to the new Quantum Media Server and 3 remote boxes, yet am unable to figure out how to keep recorded shows grouped by either remote box, or other means, as we were able to to with the 2 DVR's.
Can anyone provide a method?

You can't.
it is a single DVR with 6 tuners and remotes.
Only way to do that would be to upgrade to dual Quantum DVRs (which costs $10 more).

Another New IPod Touch Owner with Wi-fi Problems

Another New IPod Touch Owner with Wi-fi Problems.
I have been working at this for about 4 hours now with no success and I am getting pretty frustrated, so if it show up in my typing please ignore it. I just don't understand why these multi-million dollar companies can't write a manual or put up a web site that can actually help someone with a problem.
Ok, venting aside.
I am running a gateway computer.
Operating System = XP
Router = Linksys WRT54G
I have two other computers that are working fine with the existing wireless net work and have been for some time.
I'm pretty good with my computer but haven't touched my router since initial set-up and all that was done was a basic set up.
My I-pod is searching for a network and I'm three feet away from it but it doesn't find it.
I printed out my wireless setting. I presume SSID name equals the name box on the ipod-touch
Security = WEP
What seems to be kicking my A$$ is the password. The route setting have never been changed so I would pesume the password should be the default "admin" which I put in (JOIN) and get the "Could not find network" screen
So, I have perused this message board trying to discover and answer to mine, and and apparently many others question with no definitive results.
So I guess what I and everybody else needs is a step by step how to guide on how to discover the info needed and enter in what we need to make this work.
Thanks in advance to anybody that can actually help with this issue. A step by step do this would be nice.

Thank you Terpfen for replying, and please excuse my ill temper earlier. I've calmed down some now.
Step: 1 followed step one previously, Main screen, settings, Wi-Fi. Also set power down to 5 min to give I-Pod plenty of time to find network.

Choose a Network (searching indicator) symbol spinning.
Other ...
Ask to Join Networks ON
At this point the I-pod does not find any networks available. The indicator just spins but never returns any results. I am 3 feet for my WRT54G router.
Hence the easy connect isn't connecting.
The next step. is to manually set-up the connection.
Main screen, setting, Wi-Fi, Other.
press "Other" which brings up two fields

First Question? Which Name are they looking for. when I went to my router 192.168.1.1 It has the name linksys. However, when I go to my Wireless Network setting it has the name * ???? * which is different than Linksys router.
Now, since one of the goals here is file sharing I presume I should be using the Wireless Network settings name. (which I have tried.)
Next is security, Wireless Network setting indicate setting for WEP Once this is selected you then back-up to the "Enter Network Setting Screen" and you now have a password line added.
Now I have never set a password for the router so the password for the router is the default Password "admin" And I don't recall ever setting a password for my network setting. But, I only use about three different passwords and a cycled through them still with no success.
So, I need some expert advise on how and where to find the info to input into the required field to work or what I need to reset in my router to make this work.

Please some one can tel me how to copy the existing extracter into another new extracter.
I have requirment as below
Currect me if i am wrong ,need to enhance the existing extracter and add some new fields,and need to include some masterdata filds also to it.
For master data i am going to do write routines at Transfermation so that no need to include in my exter for those filds to extracter.
Please some one guide me in this scenario.

Hi,
you do not have to copy the extractor, you can enhance it with fields and fill them via enhancement coding --> rsa6.
If you want to copy it, you need to check what kind of extractor you have. Is it a function module or just a table extractor.
for fm: copy the function module via se37 and copy the extract structure via se11. Add your enhancements in the copied structures and coding. Create a new datasource with rso2.
for table extractor: create a view adding the additionally needed fields. create a new ds with rso2. Surely you need to add some coding in the relevant enhancement.

Forgot to add that it would be an adjustment layer with some kind of mask on it already. The mask is uncentered when copy and pasted which throws it off.
I guess the same question would go towards doing the same for an object. How to copy and paste it over to a new doc, keeping its position within the document? is this possible?

1. There is no method/concept of Copying, w.r.t Personnel number.
2. A new pernr,
    has to be hired in the system FIRST,
    via pa30/pa40 (hiring action),
3. ONLY THEN,
4. A new pernr is created in the sytem,
5. ONLY AFTER THAT,
   we can put other data realted to pernr in the system using pa30 or anything else.

Another SQL Developer bug - End of file in comment

I found another SQL Developer bug in version 3.0.0.4.
If I try to compile some package from file (so I open file with package body in SQL Developer and assign it to some connection) with this kind of comment: /* comment */ behind end of package, I get this error
I got Error(1250,28): PLS-00111: end-of-file in commentFunny is, that when the package is compiled directly from the database - it works.
When I try to compile the package from file with this kind of comment --comment behind the end of package, it also works...

Hi, I think I finally got it. This looks like an ugly fat bug :)
First, we are not using the .sql extensions. For package specification - we use .pks. For package body - we use .pkb.
Create this script:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST_xxx AS
PROCEDURE TEST_PROCEDURE;
END TEST_xxx; /*0123456789*/Now save this as e.g. "TEST.pks" file. Open this file in SQL Developer and compile it. You will get the "Error(3,27): PLS-00111: end-of-file in comment".
Now look at the result in the database -> Open the package specification from the database and you see this:
create or replace
PACKAGE TEST_xxx AS
PROCEDURE TEST_PROCEDURE;
END TEST_xxx; /*0123456789*The last slash is missing...
Now go back to the file with the package specification and delete one letter from the comment. Compile it again... it works now.
It looks like the length of this kind of comment is limited to 9 characters.
The limitation is there only when:
1) Compiling from file with different extension than .sql !!! If you rename the file to "TEST.sql", SQL Developer opens it as a script file and runs it as a script, so there is no problem with it.
2) It has to be this kind of comment: /* */. One line comments are not limited.

New Quantum Gateway G1100 Prohibited LAN devices?

Hi I just received a new Quantum Gateway for FiOS TV and Internet, the LAN ports on the device are covered with a sticker prohibiting other than consumer electronics to be used. What devices are the einsteins at FiOS refering to? Are they trying to prevent attaching ethernet switches to expand the number of LAN ports? Has Verizon disabled NAT functionality?
Anybody know what Verizon is up to?

Probably there to provide legal cover if somebody plugs in a medical device or some other mission critical thing.
NAT is a must for these routers; don' t know why you'd assume it wasn't there. WIthout it, they would be worthless.
Switches are fine. Many folks, myself include, expand our wired networks using switches.
As long as you aren't running a trauma unit or a nuclear power plant, ignore the label. The G1110 is a very good router. Use it and enjoy it.

It's easy to add extra tabs to your set of home pages. You can use the Options dialog to make sure there is only one. These articles point the way:

Because the space is short, you may want to select the whole home page URL (Ctrl+A) and paste it into a document or into a larger textbox like the one I'm typing in now. You're looking for a vertical bar (|) that is followed by a second URL.
If it's not part of your home page setting, the most likely cause for this change is a bad add-on that rode along with some free software.
I suggest starting here:
Open Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
