Another ODBC configuration issue?

Hello all,
I am trying to setup an ODBC datasouce based on Oracle XE databases.
What I have done until now:
1. Install Oracle XE 11G
2. Install Oracle Client (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-101290.html)
When I go in the ODBC administrator, I can only see a MS SQL server driver. No Oracle driver at all.
I assume there are manual configurations to be done to get the Oracle driver in the ODBC administrator, but I do not know how to process.
Could someone please help me?
Thank you very much.

  • Sybase ODBC Connection Issue in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi ,
    We have three sybase odbc connection in Windows Server 2008 R2 server . One connection is not working now, it was working fine before 30 days.
    I can ping the server address successfully from BO Server through "dsedit".
    i have created the same connection in a diffrent server (Win server 2003),and it is working fine.
    Sybase ASE Driver version 3.50.00.10
    Please help me to overcome this issue.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh upadhyay

    Hi Saurabh,
    The error message you are reporting is telling us that you are using the very old ctlibrary ODBC Driver.
    That is pretty much the only way you can get that error.
    Run from a command prompt,  isql -v  that will return a version string.  We can then verify the version.
    However, the old ODBC driver will function with the newer client.
    The old driver would read the sql.ini for the network address, and was also a translation layer between
    the client application and the ASE.
    Both were eliminated when Sybase released the "Native" ODBC Driver.
    The ct_connect error states that the connection attempt is using ctlibrary.
    In your ODBC configuration, Check to see in the ODBC Administrator and check to make
    sure that the driver you are using for your DSN is the Adaptive Server Enterprise and not the
    Sybase ASE ODBC Driver.
    Also  check the Drivers tab in the ODBC Admin.  See what the actual file is listed for the driver.
    sysybnt.dll
    syodase.dll  are unsupported drivers.
    It would be to your advantage to open an incident with SAP for more complete support
    Thank you,
    Kevin

  • ODBC Connectivity Issue

    We connect fine to another Oracle database via DSN.
    However, when attempting to connect to a different database using a Driver={} and a dbq="" reference to specify the service name (which matches in tnsnames.ora),
    the ODBC Dialog Box appears and challenges the credentials. A retry results in an ORA 12154 error : "TNS Could not resolve the connect identifier specified".
    The credentials work fine when accessing the database via SQL Developer. However, that connection is a BASIC one.
    When I select TNS as the connection type and use the TNS, that connection fails when being tested.
    The behavior hints at ODBC driver issues. What is missing here ? Does the connecting workstation need a tsnames.ora file entry ?

    I think I figured this out. it was the tsnames.ora file.
    It didn't have the new database as an entry.
    What was really strange about this: we added a System DSN but never referenced it in the connection string.
    As long as the DBQ=Service Name reference was used, the connection worked fine.
    I asked my manager about tsnames.ora and how it was being maintained. He said "thru LDAP".
    Hmmm.....apparently, that sync mechanism is not working well at all.

  • Essbase 11.1.2.1 Configuration Issue

    Hi ,
    I am using windows xp 32 bit processor and installed Essbase 11.1.2.1 successfully.
    Configured with one Oracle 11g data base user/Schema working fine and also tried to configure with Two Users/Schemas
    in another system workig fine.I heard that if we configure only with one schema Essbase components and Shared
    services will conflict.so I would like to know with how many users we have to configure only Hyperion Essbase to get
    Better Performance.
    Regards
    Sekhar.

    Hi John,
    Then shall i proceed with one user/schema ?
    If i proceed with two users/schema is there any problem will come or not ?
    Is there any order to configure with one schema ?
    like all Foundation components first after Essbase components.
    Number of schema/users consideration is not an issue to me but i need best configured
    Essbase Server without facing configuration issues in Future.
    I had doubt on it may expect clarification ?

  • DNS Server does not resolve new generic Top Level Domain names- CNR configuration issue?

    Hi all,
    I am not sure if this is the correct community to post this question, but I will give it a try. I noticed that the users of my network cannot resolve web sites using new top level domain names, like ".education", ".international", etc. I have an internal DNS server made by Infoblox and a Cisco CNR v6.3.3.1 as an external DNS server. Infoblox uses CNR as its forwarder and CNR uses the root DNS servers for queries.
    I would think that CNR was the problem because it is an obsolete product but after speaking with a fellow engineer at another organization where they still use an older version of CNR than mine, they have no problems at all. So now I am thinking it is a setting either on Infoblox, or on CNR I need to change. I can see Infoblox is forwarding the requests to CNR but that's about it. I am not sure if CNR is discarding the request. When I do an nslookup from a PC in my network it does not matter if I set my DNS server to be the Infoblox or the CNR. Neither resolves the URL.
    Then again, no matter what I lookup using the CNR as my DNS, I only get a response with the root DNS names and IPs!
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Constantinos,
    Have you taken a look at the infoblox community site?  We've just reposted your question there and alerted some internal SMEs that should provide a solution soon.

  • EEM TCL script configuration issue

    Hi Experts,
    I need help with an EEM TCL script for the CRS platform that generates a SYSLOG message after the CPU reaches a threshold value and then stays over the threshold value for 15 minutes, I've already tryied several thing and the last TCL script that I tested generated the SYSLOG message when the CPU reaches the threshold but I can't seem to find any way to make it wait the 15 min over the threshold and then generate the message.
    My current script looks like this:
    ::cisco::eem::event_register_wdsysmon timewin 900 sub1 cpu_tot op ge val 70
    namespace import ::cisco::eem::*
    namespace import ::cisco::lib::*
    array set event_details [event_reqinfo]
    action_syslog msg "sub1 is $event_details(sub1)"
    action_syslog msg "High CPU threshold value over 70%"
    puts ok
    I've tryied using the 'period' option for the 'cpu_tot' variable but the TCL script was'nt recognized and couldn't be registered, and I'm using the 'timewin' option here but it seems to be wrong as it says it's the time it has for multiple sub-events to ocurr in order for the script to execute.
    timewin
    (Optional) Time window within which all of the subevents have to occur in order for an event to be generated and is specified in SSSSSSSSSS[.MMM] format. SSSSSSSSSS format must be an integer representing seconds between 0 and 4294967295 inclusive. MMM format must be an integer representing milliseconds between 0 and 999).
    Also, the 'period' option I believe wouldn't have worked because I understand that it referrs to the time period that the script will take to monitor the CPU:
    •1. cpu_tot [op gt|ge|eq|ne|lt|le] [val ?] [period ?]
    op
    (Optional) Comparison operator that is used to compare the collected total system CPU usage sample percentage with the specified percentage value. If true, an event is raised.
    val
    (Optional) Percentage value in which the average CPU usage during the sample period is compared.
    period
    (Optional) Time period for averaging the collection of samples and is specified in SSSSSSSSSS[.MMM] format. SSSSSSSSSS format must be an integer representing seconds between 0 and 4294967295, inclusive. MMM format must be an integer representing milliseconds between 0 and 999. If this argument is not specified, the most recent sample is used.
    As I said, I couldn't try this because the script send an error when I tried to register using the following line:
    ::cisco::eem::event_register_wdsysmon sub1 cpu_tot op ge val 70 period 900
    This is the error message that appeared:
    RP/0/RP0/CPU0:CRS(config)#event manager policy test.tcl username cisco
    RP/0/RP0/CPU0:CRS(config)#commit
    Thu Aug 29 12:35:43.569 CDT

    !! found below.
    event manager policy test.tcl username cisco persist-time 3600
    !!% Embedded Event Manager configuration: failed to retrieve intermediate registration result for policy test.tcl
    end
    Anyway, to make this work I understand that I need nested TCL scripts that do the following:
    •1. Monitor the CPU and when it reaches the threshold install another TCL policy that counts down 15 min.
    •2. If the second TCL policy reaches zero then it should generate the SYSLOG message.
    •3. Monitor the CPU while this is running and if it falls below the threshold it should stop the second TCL policy.
    I don't know how I can acomplish this so if anyone can help me with this or show me another way to do this I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance for all your help!

    Neither option is likely to do what you want.  The timewin is for correlating multiple events, and period is the polling interval.  What you want is to create a timer when the CPU is first detected as being high, countdown 15 minutes, then alert you.  You can do this with a nested EEM policy.  For example, you can add the following to your existing policy:
    proc get_pol_dir { fd } {
        set res {}
        set output [cli_exec $fd "show event manager directory user policy"]
        set output [string trim $output]
        regsub -all "\r\n" $output "\n" result
        set lines [split $result "\n"]
        foreach line $lines {
            if { $line == "" } {
                continue
            if { ! [regexp {\s} $line] && ! [regexp {#$} $line] } {
                set res $line
                break
        if { $res == {} } {
            return -code error "The user policy directory has not been configured"
        return $res
    if { [catch {cli_open} result] } {
        error $result $errorInfo
    array set cli $result
    set output [cli_exec $cli(fd) "show event manager policy registered | inc tm_alert_high_cpu.tcl"]
    if { [regexp {tm_alert_high_cpu.tcl} $output] } {
        exit 0
    set poldir [get_pol_dir $cli(fd)]
    set polname "${poldir}/tm_alert_high_cpu.tcl"
    set fd [open $polname "w"]
    puts $fd "::cisco::eem::event_register_timer countdown time 900"
    puts $fd "namespace import ::cisco::eem::*"
    puts $fd "namespace import ::cisco::lib::*"
    puts $fd "action_syslog msg \"CPU has been over 70% for 15 minutes\""
    close $fd
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "config t"
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "event manager policy tm_lert_high_cpu.tcl username eem"
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "commit"
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "end"
    catch {cli_close $cli(fd) $cli(tty_id)}
    Additionally, you'll want another permanently configured policy that checks for a low CPU threshold.  Something like:
    ::cisco::eem::event_register_wdsysmon sub1 cpu_tot op le val 10
    namespace import ::cisco::eem::*
    namespace import ::cisco::lib::*
    if { [catch {cli_open} result] } {
        error $result $errorInfo
    array set cli $result
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "config t"
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "no event manager policy tm_alert_high_cpu.tcl"
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "commit"
    cli_exec $cli(fd) "end"
    catch {cli_close $cli(fd) $cli(tty_id)}

  • [Forum FAQ] Introduce the Windows Essentials Connector software and checklist for its configuration issues

    Introduction
    The Connector software for the Windows Server Essentials OS connects the computers in your network to the Windows Server Essentials server. When you connect computers to the server via Connector

    Checklist:
    1. Check if the client computer is a member of another server network.
    2. Change the client computer to Workgroup via administrator. Then check if you can connect it to the new Windows Server Essentials network.
    Issue 3:
    Cannot connect this computer to the network (Account related)
    The computer cannot be connected to the server using the user name and password credentials provided. This may be because an existing computer account having name “ComputerName” was previously
    created using a different set of credentials. Rename this computer and then try to connect this computer to the server again, or contact your administrator to remove any old conflicting account.
    When you connect the client computer to server essentials with a new user account, please check if the client computer has been connected to the server essentials, and didn’t remove from
    Dashboard. You may encounter the following error.

    I am not able to solve this problem..Pls help
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Venkat,
    <b>Here the quick and dirty solution</b>:
    In your portal go to 'System Administration' -> 'System Configuration' -> 'UM Configuration' -> 'Direct Editing'.
    There locate the parameter 'ume.usermapping.unsecure', set it to 'TRUE' and restart your server.
    I would rather recommend to install the unlimited strength jurisdiction policy files.
    For more info on this, check this thread:
    JCE Jurisdiction does not allow Portal to start
    Hope this helps,

    What is the difference between the delivery

    The submission option

    <LI><B>Question:</B><BR>
    The delivery

    submission option
    appear to be allowing emails from specified users to pass through?
    <P>
    <B>Answer:</B><BR>
    The problem with the submission behavior could be due to the setting of the
    the resolvehostnames
    parameter. If this parameter is turned on
    (resolvehostnames:1),
    then <I>all</I> entries in this configuration file must be fully qualified
    host names. Although wildcards will work, you cannot specify IP
    addresses with this configuration setting.
    <P>
    <P>
    <LI><B>Question:</B><BR>
    Is it possible to allow people outside of my network to connect to the server
    and send mail out?
    <P>
    <B>Answer:</B><BR>
    Yes. To allow outside users to connect to the server and send mail
    to any address, without granting the same privilege to the rest of the world,
    activate the authenticated SMTP portion of the filter via the
    useauthinfo option.
    Setting this parameter to "1" (i.e., useauthinfo:1
    ) will require a user who is not in a
    submission address and who is attempting to send email to an address not in
    the delivery range to authenticate with a user ID and password.

    Prashant:
    Are you using a UBE filter to configure domain-based anti-relayinging? We had better luck with the anti-relay plug-in. There is some info on this (for 4.15) at
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6044-10/ubefiltr.htm#1069973
    You have to enable the plug-in using configutil, per the above. The anti-relay plug-in is controlled by antirelay.conf. Be aware that the pattern matching rules are very limited, and not well documented. Fortunately, the source code to the plug-in is included, and you can see what it is doing. To pass the tests we had to add a hard-coded test for a "%" in the source and recompile:
    *** antirelay.c.orig Thu Oct 31 04:42:13 2002
    --- antirelay.c Thu Oct 31 04:22:07 2002
    *** 934,939 ****
    --- 934,940 ----
    * Weight must be non-zero to begin with so that matches on just "*"
    * will work.
    + if( strchr(text,'%') != NULL ) return ABORT;
    weight = TRUE;
    for ( ; *p; text++, p++) {
    if (*text == '\0' && p != '')
    Not a really elegant hack, but we didn't need a fully functional regex engine.

  • Oracle 11g Fusion Middleware (11.1.1.3.0) Report Configuration Issue

    Oracle 11g Fusion Middleware (11.1.1.3.0) Report Configuration Issue
    =============================================
    Hi All,
    I have installed Oracle 11g Fusion Middleware (11.1.1.3.0) on Oracle Linux 5 and getting some issues while configuring. What's happening is that when I run my report, it looks for the library attached to it. If I define the REPORTS_PATH in reports.sh, it works fine.
    What I want to achieve is to push reports to use REPORTS_PATH environment variable from rwserver.conf instead of reports.sh
    Someone told me to remove the REPORTS_PATH from reports.sh and add the REPORTS_PATH from reports.sh to a default.env in rwserver.conf, but it didn't worked.
    What I know about the report server stuff in 11g Fusion Middleware is that it consists of two different servers (Standalone and In Process). Our application runs report using SRW.RUN_REPORT which basically use In Process report server setting in rwserver.conf to run the report.
    The heirarchy in which reports try to look for the REPORTS_PATH is
    1) REPORTS.sh
    2) rwserver.conf
    3) Settings as per Oracle Enterprise Manager Configuration Settings.
    My standalone report server name is ReportsServer_hostname_asinst_F and the In Process Server name is rep_wls_reports_hostname_asinst_frd. When I define rep_wls_reports_hostname_asinst_frd (In process Report Server Name) for the server name parameter, I do not get any results for the report run using srw.run_report. Also I can't see the reason behind the report executed because of the following issue
    http://hostname:8888/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=rep_wls_reports_hostname_asinst_frd
    REP-51019: System user authentication is missing.
    ** the Singlesignon in rwservlet.properties is defined as no
    But when I define ReportsServer_hostname_asinst_F (Standalone Report Server Name) as server parameter and ran the report using srw.run_report, I get result with the REPORTS_PATH defined in reports.sh not using rwserver.conf file.
    http://hostname:8888/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=ReportsServer_hostname_asinst_F
    (which shows the report just run).
    Can someone who did Report Server configuration using ENV files (changing rwserver.conf), pls. send me the screenshots. Want to make sure if I am changing the correct files under correct location.
    Pls. feel free to ask me questions related to the environment set up.
    Thanks

    I have installed grid agent on different server. When i ran emctl status agent i am getting below error.
    EM Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/10g/hostname.com_ORCL.
    OS is AIX
    Thanks in advance...

    I am in AGENT_HOME.You are under Agent installation that's one thing. You also need to make sure your environment variable ORACLE_HOME point to AGENT_HOME not the database installation.

  • OC4J Configuration issue

    Hi,
    I tried to put my database in Archivelog mode through EM , at the time of restarting the database it didnt start... instance is starting but database is not opening....
    I tried this command but its giving error... ( I am running 10g r2 , on RHEL 5 which is install on Oracle virtual toolbox )
    emctl start dbconsole
    OC4J Configuration issue. /opt/oracle/oraclehome_112/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_myhostname_orcl not found.
    where orcl is the instance name.
    and this directory, OC4J_DBConsole_myhostname_orcl, does not exist on the file system.

    bash : ./emca : No Such file or Directory
    ./emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
    Thanks and regards...

    Hello;
    I'm thinking this step was either missed of you have a typo :
    Change the entry of .bash_profile file of the oracle user and add following lines:
    vi /home/oracle/.bash_profile
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/home/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATHIf your ORACLE_HOME is set it should find the "emca".
    You can test by running these export commands at the Linux prompt.
    The which command is your friend
    which emca
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/bin/emcaBest Regards

    All my certificates on the Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013 servers are from my local CA.
    I use APP with the public certificates as my reverse proxy for people connecting from outside the network.
    In Lync, the OAuthTokenIssuer certificate created through the Lync deployment wizard is issued to domainname.local (my primary sip domain) and the Subject Alternative names include domainname.co.uk
    I then exported this certificate to the Exchange Server and use the Set-AuthConfig to use this certificate for OAuth.
    from what I read this was what I was supposed to do.
    is this correct?
    I have tried so many things I don't know what do to next.
    Should the OAuth certificate in exchange be the one exported from Lync?
    In Lync, should the OAuthTokenIssuer certificate include the servername or lyncserver.domainname.local or just be domainname.local like it is at the moment?
    thank-you

    Thomas,
    thanks for giving this the time. I have run the Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 script following by remove-PartnerApplication so many times that I was wondering if there are other setting that
    Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 creates that aer not removed when you run
    remove-PartnerApplication.
    is there a way to completely remove everything that is confirmed when you run
    Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 so I can run Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 without there being any configurations left from when I previously run that command?
    thanks
    jack
