Another one who can't Install Itunes Version 6

I am trying desperately to download Itunes version 6. Everything was fine until I downloaded the update and now I cannot get Itunes to install. I go through the entire install process, and everything seems fine, until the very last page and a popup comes up saying "Itunes has encounted a problem and has to close..." When I try to open Itunes this popup occurs.

hi Sakmak!
"Itunes has encounted a problem and has to close..."
check to see if your Quicktime currently launches. if quicktime gives you an error message when you try to launch it, first try the following technique:
iTunes 6 for Windows unexpectedly quits when opened
... but if no joy with that, let's try a careful standalone QT 7.0.3 reinstall. download and save a copy of the QT installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off all antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install:
Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
if you get an error message on the standalone QT install, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if after the standalone install itunes and/or QT still don't launch, BUT you no longer get any error messages associated with the failure to launch, post back to let us know the results of the following observations. (there are three main causes of "error-less" launch failures, and the observations will help with sorting out which treatments we try applying first.)
reboot the PC. open Task Manager to the Processes Tab. now launch itunes again.
does an itunes.exe process appear in Task Manager? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?
keep us posted.
love, b

i haven't seen that flavor of the 0x80040707 for ages ...
let's start running through a few possible suspects.
are you installing the upgrade from inside a different account than which itunes was initially installed?
if so, try heading back into the account in which itunes was originally installed, and running the install from there. do you still get the same sort of 0x80040707? (they can cite different DLLs.)

  • Here's another one who can't connect with isight

powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   it works better after the crash
Ok, for ages I've been trying to connect with someone in the US, who uses a .mac account on a 12'' powerbook, I'm using AIM we keeping getting messages saying we are not responding...

    Hi Sandyclaws:
The key is in the set-up-it's probably your router.
I'd recommend focusing on one user at a time. Make sure you can connect to a user with no known issues, then have your friend. That will help pinpoint where the problem lies.

  • Another one that can't install Flash

I have W7 with IE9. I tried to install flash but it fails, even when IE is closed. I checked the background processes to make sure there were none running and it still says to close IE. I have also looked in the Add-ons and unchecked Active X filtering under Tools/Safety. I tried loading it thru the MSI but get the same results. I found a couple of articles that talked about a couple of MS updates, but none of those were loaded on my machine. I was able to load it using Firefox with no problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Vikram,
Thanks for the help, but that didn't work either. I got the following error message, "Flash Player could not be installed because an existing version may still be in use. Please close all applications using Flash Player and try again."
I didn't have IE open and I checked my processes and IE was not running in the background. The only app that was open was Word.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Updateentries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

Can i install itunes multiple times on one computer for multiple users?

Like most applications you only need to install it once for it to be available to all users. (That said it is possible to install an application and only make it available to the current user, but that's rarely needed.)

  • Can you install itunes on more than one computer?

    Hi all,
I want to install the software for my first-generation ipod mini on my friend's computer, but I heard somewhere that you can only install the software on one computer and obviously I also want to be able to use it with my own computer as well. Can you install itunes software that comes with your ipod mini on as many computers as you want or only one?
    Many thanks,
    Samantha

Sure you can. But instead of using the (more than likely) outdated CD, see the iTunes Download Page

  • Attempting to install iTunes Version 10.5 and getting Invalid Signature. Can someone please help???

I am attempting to install iTunes Version 10.5. I am getting the following messages...
"Files shared by these updates" has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
"iTunes" has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
"Safari 5" has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
I somehow got around this annoying "invalid signature" problem before by installing the iTunes update through the Apple site.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
When I tried that, now I get...
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified. Please run the installer again, or click Finish to Exit"
All this to get the latest iPhone software. And every blessed time I go to Sync my iPhone, I run into iTunes issue on my Dell PC here. I guess PC and Mac just cannot play well together.
Can someone PLEASE help me out here???
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi. I also had this problem when trying to connect a new iPhone 4S & it needed iTunes 10.5. Went to the Apple website as update section of iTunes was not getting any luck - went to downloads section of Apple website & downloaded the whole iTunes 10.5 program as though I did not have it in the first place (& also downloaded the programs for Quicktime 7.7.1 & Safari 4.0.3) ie not just the upgrades. I created a restore point in my Windows XP in case it all went pear shaped & then went ahead & installed all 3 programs. Opened iTunes at the end & all my music, apps, movies were all still there & now the new iPhone 4S works perfectly with the iTunes. Hope this helps.

  • Can't install latest version of itunes. "Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified." Help?

Can't install latest version of itunes. "Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified." Help?

I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.
