Another PE 8 crashing on start up.

System Window 7. 64 bit. 8 gigs RAM. NVIDIA graphics card.
I have reinstalled the program (MANY TIMES). I have installed the 8.01 update (Tho the .dll files still show 2009). I have updated my video card. I have updated Apple Quick Time. I have set the 'threaded optimization" to OFF on the video card.
THe program had been working. Then this crash on start up started happening. I have tried everything. Any other ideas?

When something works one day, but not the next, then something has changed. The task is to find out what has changed, and either roll-back, or find out how that change is negatively affecting things.
The changes could be simple OS updates/hot-fixes (can render video and audio drivers instantly obsolete - that is why the mfgrs. update them so very often), new software that conflicts, new hardware that conflicts, or settings that have changed.
In the case of PrE8, I agree with Neale, on making sure that the patch has been installed. That would be my first act.
Next, though you indicate that you have updated your nVidia driver, I would check for one later from the nVidia site. I do not recommend using the Windows update service function, or even stand-alone updaters, as they are usually looking for drivers that are quite old, by driver standards. The same goes for the audio driver. Here, I'd go to Realtek, or whomever the chip mfgr. is, and getting the very latest. Note: I keep my older drivers in archive, just in case I have to do a roll-back. Both nVidia and ATI/AMD have had some issues with recent drivers, and the roll-back was the cure to issues.
You indicate that you have the latest version of QT Player. What version is that?
Compile a list of any software, or hardware, that has been added, since things did work. Can you remove any of those?
If nothing is working, with the above suggestions, my next step would be to create a System Restore Point for today. Then, shut-down and reboot in Safe Mode, choosing System Restore from the prompt. Select a point in history, where things did work, and go through the process of booting to that point. Test. If none of your System Restore Points gets things working, you have only lost a bit of time, as you did your System Restore Point for today, and can then go to that.

Another case of Reader XI crashing after start

I have a Lenovo Yoga 13 - I updated it to Win 8.1 a few days ago and the problem started. Reader crashes on start, it happens if I open it stand alone or by double clicking a pdf file.
I can view PDFs through the Chrome plugin though (is that a different app?).
Uninstall/reinstall didn't help.
EULA acceptance didn't help.
This reg key doesn't exist on my system:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\IPM]
so I didn't try that.
Being offline didn't help.
What should I try?

I tried this script to solve the "instant" crashes on my Adobe Reader 11.0.07 (running on Win7 Ultimate 64). Sadly, I still get the windows message that "the program has encountered a problem and stopped working"
I have tried "repair" in the control panel's uninstall/change program - did not work. Tried uninstalling - failed, with various error messages (Warning 1910 Could not remove shortcut REader XI.lnk - & I did verify that it existed and I could 'access' it), (Error 1305; again I verified and "accessed" annots.api) I "retried" - fail; had to cancenl uninstall.
What on earth can I do to get rid of this corrupted Reader and install a clean new one?

Crash when starting a performance/memory profile

I'm having a catastrophic crash when I hit the 'Start' button in the Profile -> Performance and Memory... dialog. There is no error message whatsoever, and when I restart Labview, it only asks me about files to recover, it doesn't tell me where it crashed (i.e. somefile.cpp line ###). Well, it might have told me once, but now it doesn't, so unless there is a log of these things somewhere, I can't say much more.
I'm using Labview 2009, and I'm having the exact same issue on at least 2 machines which are fairly different (Win XP 32 bit vs Win7 64 bit (with Labview 32 bit)).
The application is pretty large (~1500 vi's), so it's kind of hard to tell what is making it crash.
The problem can be replicated in different ways:
1) Load main VI which loads all the VI's in memory
2) Start Performance/Memory profile *crash*
1) Load VI
2) Start VI (runs in a loop)
3) Start Performance/Memory profile while it runs *crash*
1) Start Performance/Memory profile
2) Some NI VI's show up in the list with '0' time everywhere
3) Load VI
4) Execute VI
5) Stop execution of VI *crash*
Any clues? Is there a log somewhere that could help me/you find the issue?
I could spend all day trying to load different parts of the project and look for problems, but I have no idea what to look for.
Last Friday I had successfully profiled what I wanted to, then I had another crash... Oh I remember now... I did a 'Search' in my project, looked for a particular string, and it crashed after a while in the middle of the search. Since then I was unable to use the profile tool. Could it be some data corruption? We use SourceSafe... so I wouldn't be surprised if it gave me a corrupted file If so, how could I find it?

I actually found an incident like yours involving the performance and memory tool crashing when used for specific VIs which were very large. How big (in terms of filesize) is your VI?
R&D found this issue in LV 2009 and fixed it in 2010 under Corrective Action Request 215410.
Is there any way you could try and test your issue out on a machine with LV 2010?

Satellite U - Crashes when starting windows and recovery cannot fix

Most of the time but not every time the laptop crashes when starting windows.
I get a blue screen, a dump file is created and then it restarts and gives me the option of starting windows normally or using windows recovery. The windows recovery cannot fix the problem.
When I select the option of opening windows normally everything works fine with no problems.
If I restart the laptop it never crashes.
The problem only happens about 90% of the time when switching it on.
The problem started soon after buying the laptop in October.
Originally it came with Windows Vista and I wondered if the problem was with Vista so yeterday I upgraded to Windows 7 but it still crashes on most start ups. Otherwise the laptop works fine and I am pleased with it.
I suspect the problem might be with Realtec but the drivers appear to be up to date. My internet security is trend micro.
I wondered if it might be a hardware problem when it happens under both Vista and windows 7.
Has anyone got any ideas about what might be causing the laptop to crash on startup?

I have exactly the same problem with the laptop (U500 11E) crashing on startup, recovery can't do anything and sometimes I get a Windows "solution" box that tries to find something and then just vanishes.
I followed the same procedure as Dave, by upgrading to Win7 thinking that might fix the problem, but it clearly didn't. I also updated all drivers and the BIOS to the latest versions.
I think my trouble started not right out of the box but only after I upgraded to Vista Service Pack 1, but I'm not completely sure.
It is pretty annoying because of course it now takes twice as long to get the laptop up and running.
Finding someone else who also has the problem makes me wonder if the problem might have another cause and if there might be a way to fix it?

Dreamweaver 8 Crashes on Start-up

I posted this question several days ago but haven't received a solution.
My DW 8.0.2 crashes at start-up right about the time the DW start-up screen says "Initializing Data". I am running OSX 10.4.11. I have uninstalled the program but it doesn't do anything. I've deleted the preferences files, and I have no extensions for DW 8. So what am I to do? I hate to spend $100 on Coda. How do I contact Adobe? Can they help the little people? The suite was purchased a long time ago.

I'm not sure why you would be forced to spend $100 on Coda, but regardless, CS5.5 will be your last chance to upgrade your copy of Dreamweaver. When CS6 is announced your license will no longer be valid for upgrades and you will have to buy a new version. Unfortunately in your case you would need to upgrade to Leopard to run CS5.5 since it requires 10.5.8.

You can also try some OS related fixes such as repairing permissions on your system, or if you are using Filevault you can try disabling that because there were bugs with that in the older versions of OSX. You can try creating another user account on your Mac to make sure your current profile has not been corrupted somehow. That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head.

Premiere Pro crashes on start Mac OS 10.9.5

System : 10.9.5
Was on CS6 and everything was fine.
At some point, had to switch to CC in another studio...
Thought it was not a problem as I am a CC suscriber anyway.
But after I installed Premiere Pro CC on my own Mac, I had the very unpleasant surprise to discover that it crashes on start,
displaying this message :

(Yes, that's French for : Adobe PP could'nt find any compatible video player)

Please go to following location move the Adobe folder to desktop,
User Library >> Application support>>
User Library>> Preferences>>
Make sure you're in user library not in system Library.
Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later
Please rename the Adobe folder in documents to old.adobe
Now try and launch.

Before updating to 3.6 (64bit version, naturally) I have been running previous version without any issues. Today, after crash Windows stated the following: "To try and fix the problem, Windows has applied compatibility settings to this program. Windows will use there settings the next time you run the program." With compatibility setting the program seems to start ok, but this should run without any tweaking, right?
Now, I'm concerned what has changed, as I have done no changes to the workstation, except windows security updates. Any clues on how to trouble shoot? Any help would be appreciated.
Operating system is Windows 7, 64bit Pro.

Add that I have also tried to clone the HD in question on a firewire HD, connecting it to another G4 and launching the application from it, premiere starts slowly, then, on the same computer I booted from that firewire Hd cloned and gives the same error, summarizing the hd firewire connected to another g4 ago as a secondary launch the application, but booting from it thereby making the primary application does not start anymore, so I suppose it is a problem of any extension that goes on in conflict that specific disc, thus excluding hardware problems ... any suggestions?

Safari 3.2 crashes at start ..and .. I TRIED EVERY FIX POSTED HERE

I just noticed also that my profile shows 10.5.1 however my Mac shows 10.5.5. Here is what I found...The account I normally use was showing 10.5.1 however another newer account I setup a while back shows 10.5.5. Safari 3.2 loads and runs fine in the newer account but crashes on start in the older account. I just went in and gave r/w permissions to one account from the other ..and now both accounts show 10.5.5. I tried installing Safari again in the old account and it still crashes on startup.
I know this sounds like I have junk in the old account preventing Safari from running but I sure went a long way to trash everything related to Safari before the install.
Any of this make sense ?

Firefox 3.6.3 crashes at start-up

Firefox 3.6.3 crashes at start-up. I'm very frustrated with Firefox. I've researched through out the forum posts and tried everything I've found about FF not starting. A previous version of FF was running OK then one day when I tried using FF again and it now crashes at start-up. It will not start period. If I didn't need FF for this one particular application then I would just use another browser. I've been looking for a solution for this problem for many many weeks. Someone please help.

FF is crashing on my computer with only one tab open and is running slow.....pauses for about 30 seconds when I close FF. Annoying.

No preview codec, crashing on start up, no audio with black magic, asking for serials

Hello,
I have 4 issues with Premiere CC. At work we have a school license of some sort, what I know we got a special design one from the sales team (I might be wrong).
The problems we have runned into are:
1. We students try to open a project they been working on a error screen popps up and says something like "No preview codec could be associated with this sequence...."
I think this happens when students have merged audio and video toghether.
2. I got some help from the tech support and they made some changes in the libiry in one of the editing rooms computers and reinstalled premiere Pro CC.
It seemed as everything was working until I opened premiere CC the day after, and it asks me for a serial key. I tried putting in the serials we got and non of them worked.
I also tried logging on to the account we have and it still asks me for the serials. And when I try starting in in trail mode I can't playback anything.
3. In another editing room Premiere was crashing on start up, so I was told by the tech support to uninstall all adobe softwares and update my mac OsX and then reinstall the softwares needed. It worked but if i save projects and try to open them up Premiere CC craches.
4. On computers using black magic deck link I can't get audio out from premiere pro.
I would really appreicate if I could get some more support.

Hello again,
So the sound issue is solved, so for other users with the same problem I will write down my way of making it work.
I read some time ago that someone made it work by starting AE and in AE more choices were avalible in the audio prefrences, but this didn't work for me but it might for some, thats why I write it here.
I took this a step futher and I opened up Audition CC, and in Audition CC the sound worked just fine and it was automatically set to black magic.
After I had open Audition CC I was then able to select Premiere Pro 7.0 as the sound output in the Apple system settings sound prefrences.
Then the sound worked fine in AE and PP. Should also note that when I did it as said in the manual I didn't get it to work.
The preview preset issue is some what solved, I reinstalled premiere and upgrade my OSX as written above. First time I installed Creative Cloud I did it from a build from a hardrive I think that some how made it so creative cloud could not reach premiere correctly???
Although I still have the problem with serial numbers sometimes and I have to be logged on wich is don't work if i try to log on with the account on two or more computers.. Even thou we have a school license, so I still appreciate all help I can get with this.
I will also add that I heard that strange things can happen if users install apples latest ProApp QuickTime Codec 1.0.4 so watch out for that one at the moment, I sure adobe will fix this soon as well

After Effects CS4 crash during start - MAC

I have problem with AE CS4 on my mac. I downloaded trial from adobe. Instalation pocess was ok but during start after few first sec. AE is closing themself. There is no massage from AE. Only system is giving info about unexpected closing due to AE error.
Is any body the same problem? If you can, please help me with this or give me info about links where can I find solution.

I found the problem and now is working ok. I had to turn off font "Zebra". I think that the same reason for crashes on start was before updateing AE.

If you have the same problem like me, the best way is:
Turn off "Zebra" font - Aplications/Font Book. Select all fonts in left collumn. Then select zebra font and remove mark below (turn off). Start AE. If problem still exist, use this link:

New computer crashes upon start-up

Bear with me as I am not all that computer literate.........I have a new, as in barely two week old, laptop Toshiba A500-ST5601 that started crashing on start-up 4 days ago. I get a blue screen that says "DRIVER.IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" I did a search on here and found a message that asked for certain error info and I searched my event viewer and found this info just from todays event. Logic now crashes at start up

Does anybody else experience this? This just happened recently were Logic just crashes at start up.
I double click on a project, Logic loads all the voices, then, crash. Is it the latest Mac version?

The strange thing about it is that it is only a couple of files. I tried to open up other files, larger and no problem. I just can't open this one. It also happened a week ago with another file. Could not open it. Maybe it it one of the instances I am using. Maybe Kontakt 3 or Play.

Many applications CRASHING on start up after installing security updates

I recently ran a software update and installed a bunch of updates, probably 2-3 for Mac OS X (security update) and an iTunes one and all the Final Cut Studio updates. After doing this I've been having a lot of problems with programs crashing on start up. Two programs that come to mind are Apple's Motion and the "Stickies" program included in OS X. Is there any way to fix this without re-installing the entire operating system?!

Thanks for the advice baltwo; I followed the suggestions provided in the link and installed Preferential Treatment but the problem is still present with the application "stickies". It doesn't seem to be a preferences issue, since it is exclusive to one account. I tried copying over the StickiesDatabase file from my account to another and then opening stickies only to find it fails to launch in the other account as well. It seems like my StickiesDatabase file may be corrupted? Is there anyway to recover the information in this file?! My main concern right now is just recovering the notes I made in the Stickies.
Btw, I repaired all permissions and did a lot cache clearing and system optimizing and clean up using ONYX, no improvement afterwards.
One other thing: Most other apps are working fine with the exception of a certain project file in Motion 3 crashing on start up..but that's not my primary concern right now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
